Images[edit]

Hi, I uploaded images for Alan McGee's, Poptones' and Creation's profile, all are free to use images, so hardly any reason behind deleting them. Yes, I did read your FAQ. (Goodlookingmanager 12:56, 5 May 2007 (UTC))[reply]

This question was answered in one of the FAQs at the top of the page.

KR-Coldsteel[edit]

It's more than likely I've been assigning licenses wrong. My Mistake.

I was given permission by the author to use this image on Wikipedia, and it is also the banner of the site it represents. The Author created it entirely on his own, and at my current knowledge, he has no outstanding or otherwise notable copyright on the image.

What option should I choose for this? Mind that this is going to a Userpage, due to a previous discussion with another admin, resolving the actions of past members of our community.

Jwguy 15:16, 5 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I was meaning copyright in terms of the legal kind you must register. Regardless, I did not challenge the copyright, or assume the creation for myself. It was not removed/ignored, but from the drop-down box, I could not see a more valid option like: "The copyright holder has given me permission to upload this image." or "The Copyright holder has given this image to public domain."
As such, I simply went with the most evidently similar option. Though it was wrong, I hope you can understand my reasoning, in the very least. I am a representative of the Author's site, on which the image is used, and have been given permission to use the image by the author. The author is User:VoodooKobra (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User:VoodooKobra, should the link not work.) here, should you need to contact him.
I've, based on the list, have decided that the ((GFDL-user|user)) tag would be appropriate (I have removed the brackets to prevent any tagging.). Would this be acceptable? Jwguy 15:51, 5 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Removed image from article about Wendeen H. Eolis[edit]

Thank you for your advice,I have read the material. I have obtained another photo from the subject of the article. This photo was taken for her publicity purposes. She owns the picture. She sent it to me at my request and has agreed for it to be released to public domain. Would this language in my comments satisfy the requirements of Wikipedia for a properly uploaded image? And can you tell me which license should I use that is compatible with these facts.Ildarspb 17:21, 5 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Pat Robertson image.[edit]

I tried to upload this, by this fellow on Flickr. Unforuantely, the image upload options didn't let me upload images on a commons 2.0 license. Seeing as I'm new at loading free images, I went for the wrong button, hoping I could fix it before deletion. Evidently, I failed.

My question is, how can I load this if 2.0 isn't available on the upload page, and I clearly didn't take the picture. Or can only the work's creator load it here? --Lenin and McCarthy | (Complain here) 00:13, 6 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Deleted CSD I2 images[edit]

Conquer Online images.[edit]

It's my understanding that we can upload game screenshots as I did at Conquer Online? No? I understand I put the wrong license, but I wasn't entirely sure of the right one! Looking at World of Warcraft, there are game screenshots that have been in place a long while, and many people watch that page so I'd assume someone would have flagged them before now.

It's fine that you've deleted them, but can you tell me which license I should put them under to upload again? Cheers. --Marc 19:21, 6 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Image deletion[edit]

Hi there; instruction please. We are both admins, but you have been here longer than I have. I note you have just deleted a number of images at a quite phenomenal rate. Could you please tell me how you are able to assess them so fast? It cannot just be by taking the tagging editor's word for it. I have always admitted, including in my RfA, that image manipulation was not my strong point.--Anthony.bradbury 19:42, 6 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I can think of many ways to deleted images fast. One way is to review them all and then use an automated script to remove them from articles and delete them. If that is the case, then I want the script too! :) - Aksi_great (talk) 19:52, 6 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Clearly I am even worse at image manipulation than I thought. Good at text, though.--Anthony.bradbury 19:54, 6 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Since you blocked Andiamstillhere, perhaps you'd be interested to hear that these two both used TOR and are probably the same person. Or maybe you aren't interested. I don't really know. See Wikipedia:Administrators' noticeboard#Andiamstillhere_and_FfopoPreteP. Thanks, Armed Blowfish (mail) 01:42, 7 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Graphics[edit]

Hello, I was just wondering if you could tell me what editing programmes you used to create the graphics at the top of your page, e.g the Userboxen and Welcome you created? I noticed you made on for User:Real96 and I would just like to know what programmes you use to create them so I can explore it. The Sunshine Man 14:41, 11 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks a lot, its greatly appreciated, I'll start that now, I'll give it a go myself and I think I will use that one you made for me, looks great! Thanks, means a lot to me! The Sunshine Man 18:29, 11 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Can I ask where you got the image from (the colourful transparent ones) before you added the text in? The Sunshine Man 19:41, 11 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Oh, I see - thanks again! The Sunshine Man 19:47, 11 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I know you proabably want me to go away now but you are much better at them image making than me so can I ask if you could make a coupler for me, could you create one with background color #1E90FF with the text The Sunshine Man (but without the underscope), one with background #0BDA51 and saying Welcome!, one which says Awards with background colour #FFFF00 and one which says Userboxes with background colour #FF0000. I understand I' asking a lot here I just think they look really good, I dont mind if its too much and choose not to design them. Thanks in advance (whether you design them or not). The Sunshine Man 10:26, 12 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Recreation of To Speak as To speak[edit]

Hi, I've just spent some time cleaning up To speak but when trying to move it noticed that To Speak was already deleted and protected by you. I didn't place a db-repost because I'm not sure if the content is the same, but I suspect it to be because it's also posted on Talk:To Speak. Could you kindly take a look at the issue? --Darkbane 15:49, 11 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Disregarding the issue of notability (minor, independent film. no theatrical release planned), which I am likely too liberal on anyway, I'll cut to the chase here: you say the article was crap to begin with. Even though I dressed it up a bit, most of my edits were really just formatting and getting rid of superfluous information. Furthermore, I don't have any experience with what's acceptable in Wikipedia:WikiProject Films. So if you feel that this version, which is the version before any of my edits, has no redeeming value or is equivalent to what you've deleted before, please go ahead and delete the article. I have no objections. I got some cleanup practice out of it ^_^ --Darkbane 20:55, 11 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Haha, thank you! That makes me feel a bit better about the time I put in. --Darkbane 22:27, 11 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Removal of image[edit]

Hi Redvers. I see you recently deleted an image, and even went to the trouble of removing the image from the said page so that it didn't red link. The link is here: [2]. However, just as a note, before you removed the image, it had linked to another image (albeit not a good one): see the link here: [3]. If you are doing the favor of removing deleted images, perhaps you could also do the favor of simply reverting when someone changes the image; in this case, just hitting the revert button would have done the trick, and saved me having to replace the image. Thanks. The Evil Spartan 17:25, 12 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
