Disputed fair use rationale for File:1688 germantown quaker petition against slavery.jpg}

Thank you for uploading File:1688 germantown quaker petition against slavery.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale provided for using this image under "fair use" may not meet the criteria required by Wikipedia:Non-free content. This can be corrected by going to the image description page and add or clarify the reason why the image qualifies for fair use. In particular, for each page the image is used on, the image must have an explanation linking to that page which explains why it needs to be used on that page. Can you please check:

• That there is a non-free use rationale on the image's escription page for each article the image is used in.
• That every article it is used on is linked to from its description page.

The 1688 Germantown Quaker Petition Against Slavery

Hi: I saw your recent article on the New African Related Articles. This is a good start on an important topic, but it is written quite differently from what we generally expect from Wikipedia articles. As I'm sure you well know, contributions to Wikipedia will be edited and changed by others constantly, sometimes ruthlessly. I thought you'd like a heads up on some of the issues which will likely soon be addressed: whether by you or other editors who come across this article.

First, there will need to be some inline citations. It could be ignorance on my part, but I find "The petition was the first public document to protest slavery. It was also the first written public declaration of universal human rights." both rather hard to believe. I know certain Songhai sources consider legal documents from the 17th century to be the first declarations of universal human rights in Africa. Additionally, the entire article is written as a personally essay: the tone will have to be changed. Statements like "The King was happy" will have to include references or be changed. The history of the colony, or William Penn, or Quakerism will have to be either integrated into the relevant articles or simply removed. The text of the petition will need to be moved to http://en.wikibooks.org/. It is a good start on an interesting subject, but it important to understand the difference between what is expected in a university essay and what is expected in Wikipedia articles.

Also the wikilink of words like Decades, argument, surveyed, churches, houses all need to be removed. Internal links should be to articles supportive of the subject. No one is going to read this and think "what's a house?" They may well need to know who William Penn was, and at the first usage (only) you should links such articles. RGS: Thanks for your comments -- have removed some of the wikilinks and edited for more objectivity. I believe it is important to have the text and images of the petition on the same page -- because the reader can then directly check the unorthodox wording. The petition is unusual and this is emphasized in the article.
