Welcome to my talk page. I am a professional photographer and have just joined Wikipedia. Would love to contribute with my photos :) Rick Tyers

Amongst Canon digi-cams I like this zoom a lot!

Hi. I just wanted to let you know that I closed your nomination, Wikipedia:Featured picture candidates/The Doon School, India, as "Not promoted". We welcome your contributions to featured picture candidates and I encourage you to nominate more images. Before you do so, you may want to review the featured picture criteria. If you're unsure if a picture meets the criteria, feel free to add the image to picture peer review where experienced users will comment on it. Thanks. I hope to see you at FPC again. Rick, your picture was taken by a great camera. Please upload full resolution images to Commons, rather than tiny versions suitable only for web pages. Commons is a educational image resource, not just a source of images for Wikipedia's web pages. And Wikipedia prefers full-size images rather than thumbnails because they print better, are more useful for other purposes, and because the viewer can click on them to enlarge and study all the detail.
Please make sure all the images you upload are completely your own work. I see you've uploaded a scan of a photo of Rajiv Ghandi at the school. I'm pretty certain you didn't take this photograph as the event was in 1985. It is not acceptable to copy other people's work. Please be honest and if you don't own the copyright to that photograph, request it be deleted from Commons.
Please discourage your friends (or wiki-friends) from voting on a friend's nomination at featured discussions. It is very hard to be objective about one's friends work. If the picture is good, it will succeed, though sometimes you are lucky and sometimes unlucky. The standard for featured pics is very high. Colin°Talk 09:15, 21 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]
