Disputed fair use rationale for Image:Sonic122.jpg[edit]

Sandwich Parkway - Windsor, Ontario[edit]

There is no Sandwich Parkway in Windsor.

I went to Google Maps as you suggested:

Funny, I don't see any Sandwich Parkway - just Ojibway Parkway between Sandwich Street and EC Row Expressway.

Mapquest? Yahoo! Maps? Both show it as Ojibway Parkway.

Thing is, I didn't need to go to Google. I work as a Planner for the City of Windsor. I can look up a map on our system. Yup, it's called Ojibway Parkway. We even have a few properties with Ojibway Parkway addresses. So I check our Street Name database. No Sandwich Parkway. There is a Sandwich West Parkway, however that is located in the Town of LaSalle.

I've been with the City for 10 years and have lived here for 14 years. In that time, the portion of Ojibway Parkway you call Sandwich Parkway has never ever been called or signed as Sandwich Parkway. In fact, there is a sign at the end of the EC Row Expressway that had Ojibway Parkwy and two arrows on it - one point straight and another point right.

So will you cease and desist from insisting that Sandwich Parkway exists?

Image:American Broadcasting Company Logo 2007.svg is not a vector image. If you view the source of the image, it's just a jpeg in an SVG shell, which is worse than the PNGs we like to use on Wikipedia for images if we can't get a vector. --Keeleysam 16:21, 10 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Image:CH_first_logo.jpg[edit]

I have tagged Image:CH_first_logo.jpg as {{orphaned fairuse}}. In order for the image to be kept at Wikipedia, it must be included in at least one article. If this image is being used as a link target instead of displayed inline, please add {{not orphan}} to the image description page to prevent it being accidentally marked as orphaned again. Re: TV article logos[edit]

The problem with those galleries is that they are just a bunch of nonfree images which aren't commented on in the article. If there's nothing to actually say about the significance of the image, we probably can't justify the inclusion of the image per our Wikipedia:Non-free content criteria. It's not the gallery coding itself which is the problem - that is just usually a very clear indication that a nonfree image is being used without any commentary on its significance. List of cities on the Great Lakes[edit]

You recently added Leamington, Ontario, Kingsville, Ontario, and Collingwood, Ontario to the article. Unfortunately, Leamington is a municipality and both Kingsville and Collingwood are towns. The article is only for municipalities which have received city status. Kingsville and Collingwood are categorized as Towns on the Great Lakes. Leamington is not categorized. No, if you did that, it would be mis-categorized. Leamington is recognized by Statistic Canada and other government agencies as a municipality, not a city. (There is a difference). Leamington can not be added to the article because it is not a city. The article did not have any categories, and I wanted you to add some. I added the categories from Kingsville, but you can add more. For example, if it has a port, you can add it to the category about great lakes port cities. If you want, you can try talking to someone higher up, and see if we could change the article to "List of Municipalities on the Great Lakes"; that will allow us to add all the towns and townships on the lake, though it will make the page very lengthy. As a general rule, a city to be included on the list should either have a shore line on a lake or river *between* lakes, or should be within no more than 25 km of the lake. Brockville is a bit too far away to be a great lakes city, imo vıdıoman (talk • contribs) 16:18, 24 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for uploading Image:Canora sk flag.gif. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, their copyright should also be acknowledged.

As well as adding the source, please add a proper copyright licensing tag if the file doesn't have one already. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use. Duplicate Image:LA-kttv.jpg[edit]

WPIX and WWOR-TV logo pictures[edit]

There are several problems with these pictures, the least of which is them being in a gallery. The fair-use policy police may still have a problem with that, fair-use rationale or not.

Now, as for the pictures themselves:

1) There's lots of redundancy, especially with the ones which use Cutout 9, UPN 9 (version 2), Circle 11, and WB 11. There does not need to be multiple pictures of essentially the same logo, even if the backgrounds are different.

2) The "superstation" logos are NOT OFFICIAL station logos. Plain and simple.

3) Image:wpix60s.gif: I have yet to see any advertisement from TV Guide or a New York newspaper that used this logo. That is not to say that it isn't a valid one, but right now it isn't verifiable.

4) I cut-and-pasted text I previously wrote from older revisions. There was nothing wrong with that.

Thunder Bay Expy[edit]

You recently changed the article to say the Expy was 12.9 kilometres, but it is 15.2km. It runs from Arthur to Copenhagen/Hodder which is 15.2kms according to google maps. Kuiper belt and Oort cloud[edit]

I don't know where you are getting your info, but we can see to 50 AU quite easily these days. The Oort cloud isn't there. The main body of the Kuiper belt extends to about 48 AU, but the 5:2 resonance lies at 55 AU. Some astronomers even say that the Kuiper belt includes the Scattered disc objects, and so extends to +- 100 AU. The closest thing we may have found to an Oort cloud object is Sedna and even Sedna isn't universally accepted as such. More observation is needed before we can make any concrete claims. Variable gauge axles[edit]

  • Potentially prohibitive in cost (too costly to afford, particularly for smaller railways)
  • Possibly very complex and confusing, railways or countries may not have the proper tools or expertise readily available to maintain the systems, which could pose a problem in the event of a mechanical breakdown
  • Safety concerns (is this system safe? is it proven?)

Your concerns are not based on facts:

  1. The cost for both systems (Talgo & CAF) is known and affordable for those railways that need it.
  2. The systems are not all that complex, intellegent mechanics are able to learn to repair them. The manufacturers are only too happy and pleased to teach how
  3. The Talgo system has been, and is, in continuous use since 1968 without an incidence. The CAF system is in daily use now without real or potential problems. KTLA logo history article[edit]

I'm sure you have good intentions with adding logo images to these articles, but you need to understand something: not every logo belongs in every page. Some cannot be verified as "official" station logos, while many of the images (such as those in the KTLA page you created, which was completely unnecessary) feature the same logo. The background may be different, but it's still a duplicate logo. The issue of non-free images of station logos is still an unresolved one, and I feel that adding these redundant and largely non-verifiable logos is more of a hamper than a help. I agree, they are non-free (being logos of a currently-operational television station), however, they can be verified as KTLA's logos. I know that some do look similar, but they are not the same thing.

You are correct in that they are official KTLA logos. But you miss the point in the similarity department. A quick rundown:

  • Image:KTLA-77.jpg and Image:KTLA77-2.jpg -- the colors may be different, but it's the SAME LOGO
  • Image:KTLA81.jpg, Image:KTLA81-small.jpg, Image:KTLA90s_a.jpg, Image:KTLA90s_b.jpg, and Image:KTLA90s_c.jpg -- the first two pics have a slight alteration in the number 5, and the backgrounds may be different on the other three, but it's the SAME LOGO
  • Image:KTLA96.gif, Image:KTLA97.jpg, Image:KTLA2000.jpg, Image:KTLA2002.gif, and Image:KTLA2002-slogan.jpg -- different background, but the SAME LOGO
  • Image:KTLA2003.jpg and Image:KTLA2005.jpg -- with or without the "Where LA Lives" slogan, it is still the SAME LOGO

Transit[edit]

The Template:Public Transit Systems in Ontario should only be inserted in an article about a transit system and not appear on the city page. Since you have shown an interest, I have abstracted the information about Sarnia Transit and CK Transit from within the city articles. Both entries need to be developed and expanded and I will get to them eventually. As you have previously contributed to your hometown Windsor Transit and made a redirect page for CK Transit, I thought this might be considered part of your neighbourhood. It's a big province. Radio[edit]

Don't use the {{AMQ}} or {{FMQ}} templates on Canadian radio stations. Because the FCC has no regulatory or technical authority over Canadian broadcasting, the FCC database is not a reliable source. It doesn't necessarily get updated when there's an ownership change — the FCC doesn't have any need to know whether a Canadian radio station is owned by Rogers or Astral or Newcap or my mother, so they're not usually informed of a sale. It doesn't necessarily get updated when there's a technical change. In some cases, it doesn't even get updated when there's a frequency change — the FCC database still lists CHYR-FM as being on the AM radio frequency it abandoned in 1993. We simply cannot use these templates for Canadian stations. And, for that matter, we really can't use the RLQAMQ or RLQFM templates, either; Radio-Locator just mirrors the FCC database. The {{RecnetCanada}} database is nothing short of amazing. It reads the Industry Canada database, probably about 15 times faster than actually going directly to IC itself. It produces a linkable URL; the IC database itself works entirely on hidden coding such that the results page is the same URL as the empty search page. And it plots the recorded longitude and latitude of the transmitter on Google Maps. It's close to perfect. A coverage map would be nice, but admittedly those are rough estimates at best. Did you already go ahead and fix the tables? I hadn't realized they were different widths, or I would have at least remedied that myself. I would have done a little more work on that article, but I don't have or know of any good recent sources for viewership numbers, which is rather crucial to the content. (And since the previous contributor didn't list their sources, I wouldn't know where to look.) Urban core tornadoes[edit]

The listing is by definition that of the downtown/CBD or heavily built up core of large cities. This does not include the entire city limits. Although standards need to be maintained, I don't wish to be pedantic. For some of the tornadoes that struck boroughs of NYC I see your point, and see justification in including those in the notable absences section. Kenner however is not New Orleans, and is a mostly low-density residential suburb which is not even in the city limits much less within the city core. The Inglewood tornado was clearly in area of houses; again, a low-density residential area, outside the core of a large city. For what it's worth, the listing requires further cleanup and these just stuck out, and again, some of these could be added to the section of notable absences. WCTR Charter TV3 article[edit]

Please stop editing the CharterTV3 article. I don't know where you get your information from, but it is entirely false. The network has absolutely no affiliation whatsoever with Worcester State College or as you recently put it, Worcester College, which doesn't exist. The WCTR-TV.com "official website" external link that you posted at the bottom of the article is obviously not an official website. It is a .pdf file, created by Worcester State College for students applying for internships at Charter TV3. Charter TV3 is owned by Charter Communications and operates at their Worcester, Massachusetts headquarters. Your claim about the meaning of the call letters, WCTR is also entirely made up. WCTR has two meanings: "W CharTeR" and "WorCesTeR." The call letters currently are rarely used to identify the network. The claims you've made have indicated that you do not live in the Worcester area, have never watched Charter TV3 nor have ever been affiliated with Worcester State College.
