Sourcing

Nobody ever tells you this, you have to work it out for yourself. Many of the good sources are also hidden behind paywalls and require a certain amount of ingenuity to get into them without spending a fortune.

1. History of Parliament online is good for MPs, but is only partly complete. It should be completed in the next few years, so some MPs are included, others aren't.
2. Oxford Dictionary of National Biography. Note only dead individuals are covered. Requires subscription (i.e. a library card number) via your local library, although their paywall arrangement is rather pathetic and it wouldn't take much hacking. Roche isn't in it.
3. Who's Who. Only started publication in about 1905, so MPs from before this date aren't usually covered. Usually fairly good directory entries. Again, library access required.
4. The Times Digital Archive. Includes the full run of the Times from 1785 to 1985, (but not the Sunday Times, and for after 1985 see below). Library access required. Often contains reasonable obituaries of establishment figures. There's quite a bit of political reporting on Roche under the "Ireland" heading.
5. The Guardian and Observer digital archives. Includes full run of the (Manchester) Guardian and the Observer until 2003. Can't find much in here to be fair.
6. More recently the Gale database contain most newspapers, including The Times, which otherwise is behind a paywall online.

If you're in the Republic of Ireland, I'm not so familiar with the local library system and what they generally provide. You might be able to join a library in the UK despite living in Ireland - the rules vary from county to county - or get a friend/relative in the UK to register for you, and then you only really need the number.

Requesting revisiting the tags

Hi,

Considerable time before you had tagged various sentences in the article Legal awareness. After your tagging we have improved article's most of the sections and certainly improvement efforts will continue. One of the sentence was related to Apllied Legal Education, may be, since you and me belong to different country background there may be a little difference between perceptions. Since any way "Apllied Legal Education" topic can be given better justice in Legal education article, after searching enough citations for discussion purpose I have started a discussion at Talk:Legal_education#Applied_legal_education . I request you to participate in the discussion and also please see if a tag 'original research' for a particular sentence can be revisited and or you and rest of community helps me in redrafting the said sentence.
