Could you help me understand something?

I have a dumb question. I observed the changes you recently made in the concept inventory entry in the revision history section. I don't understand what the color coding does. I've seen color coding before but was hesitant to ask. But since I have contributed to the concept inventory entry, I thought I would inquire. In the revision history it appears that you changed brown highlighting to light blue highlighting. Could explain what the highlighting means. And how do you highlight words and why? And why don't I see it on the article page itself? Thanks very much.Iss246 (talk) 22:53, 3 July 2012 (UTC)

The colour highlighting is just in the diff, not the page itself, to try to make the changed words/lines clearer. The help on this is at Help:Diff but the screenshots there show the old diff colours (yellow/green/red), rather than the new brown/blue colours. Rjwilmsi 11:53, 4 July 2012 (UTC)
Thank you for getting back to me. I understand that colors represent changes. But on the concept inventory diff page the words that are colored differently on both sides of the page are, if I'm not mistaken, the same!Iss246 (talk) 20:07, 4 July 2012 (UTC)
(talk page stalker) Note that the edit summary states "Straight quotes per MOS:QUOTEMARKS". Although the words are the same, if you look carefully, you can see that each instance of ’ has been changed to '. GoingBatty (talk) 20:37, 4 July 2012 (UTC)

As an experienced editor, can you help me out with the recent IP editor of the mammal page? He is making a huge number of apparently good-faith but not very helpful edits, such as deleting mention of extinct groups, and suggesting that the primates are represented by apes, monkeys, tamarins (!) and humans. I have warned the editor to seek consensus, but this doesn't seem to have helped. μηδείς (talk) 04:41, 12 July 2012 (UTC)

I've no particular expertise in new user/revert issues. If posting on the article's talk page hasn't helped, you may have to ask for admin advice. Thanks Rjwilmsi 10:00, 12 July 2012 (UTC)

That is fascinating stuff. You learn something new every day here! Drmies (talk) 17:24, 18 July 2012 (UTC)

Renaming Proposal

Hello, Rjwilmsi, and thanks for your contributions to Wikipedia!

I wanted to let you know that I’m proposing an article that you worked on, The Glebe (Arlington, Virginia), for renaming because I don't think the current name describes the subject well. Please come join the discussion here.

Thanks again for contributing! Argos'Dad 19:12, 25 July 2012 (UTC)
