Wikipedia's notability standards[edit]

Wikipedia does not seek to have articles about anything and everything; only subjects which have received significant coverage in reliable published sources satisfy Wikipedia's notability standards. Creating an article in order to "store and preserve" information which is likely to be lost because it does not already have substantial coverage elsewhere is completely inconsistent with Wikipedia's aims.
