May 2022[edit]

Information icon Hello, I'm Peaceray. Your recent edit(s) to the page List of Canadian supercentenarians appear to have added incorrect information, so they have been reverted for now. If you believe the information was correct, please cite a reliable source or discuss your change on the article's talk page. If you would like to experiment, please use your sandbox. If you think I made a mistake, or if you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page. As per Korean Empire: "On August 22, 1910, the Korean Empire was annexed by Japan". Ja Hyung Lee was born 5 days later, so no Korean Empire existed at that time. Peaceray (talk) 16:47, 25 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Hi @Peaceray, If you look up the Japan–Korea Treaty of 1910, you will see that the Treaty was "Sealed" on August 22, 1910. However it did not come into effect until August 29, 1910. So Ja Hyung Lee was born 2 days before Korea was annexed bt Japan. Rklingmann (talk) 06:32, 9 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Sorry, I was relying on the Korean Empire article, which I see that you have subsequently synced with Japan–Korea Treaty of 1910. Peaceray (talk) 00:15, 10 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]

October 2022[edit]

Information icon Please do not add or change content, as you did at List of the oldest living people, without citing a reliable source. Please review the guidelines at Wikipedia:Citing sources and take this opportunity to add references to the article. Thank you. Renewal6 (talk) 10:32, 28 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Is there a time limit for verifying Date of Birth? Rklingmann (talk) 00:31, 29 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
No, but a sourced DOB is not sufficient for inclusion. Please read the criteria ("a reliable source that is less than a year old", "Note, however, that the Gerontology Wiki at Wikia is NOT a reliable source, [...] and neither is Facebook") again. You can find them here. Thanks. Renewal6 (talk) 01:49, 29 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Hi @Renewal6, According to the criteria I only need 1 reliable source that is less than 1 year old. My first reference, which is older than 1 year establishes her DOB which should not change over time. My second reference is less that 1 year old and can be considered reliable based on WP:RS/WP:SELFSOURCE.
"These requirements also apply to pages from social networking websites such as Twitter, Tumblr, and Facebook. Use of self-sourced material should be de minimis; the great majority of any article must be drawn from independent sources."
Using this logic, I was able to get approval to add her to the "List of British supercentenarians".
If you still disagree, is there a higher authority that can resolve this?
Thanks, Ralph Rklingmann (talk) 02:47, 29 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Supercentenarian claims don't meet the first requirement of WP:SELFSOURCE: "The material is neither unduly self-serving nor an exceptional claim." Therefore, your second reference is not reliable. You can start a new thread at the talk page of the article, if you disagree. Renewal6 (talk) 11:06, 29 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]

ArbCom 2023 Elections voter message[edit]

Hello! Voting in the 2023 Arbitration Committee elections is now open until 23:59 (UTC) on Monday, 11 December 2023. All eligible users are allowed to vote. Users with alternate accounts may only vote once.

The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to impose binding solutions to disputes between editors, primarily for serious conduct disputes the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the authority to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.

If you wish to participate in the 2023 election, please review the candidates and submit your choices on the voting page. If you no longer wish to receive these messages, you may add {{NoACEMM}} to your user talk page. MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 01:00, 28 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]
