Proposed deletion of Dan's Detour of Life[edit]

A proposed deletion template has been added to the article Dan's Detour of Life, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but this article may not satisfy Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and the deletion notice should explain why (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised because even though removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, the article may still be deleted if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria or it can be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. Hi. Well, firstly, you have to understand that Wikipedia isn't envisaged as being a set of articles about everything in the entire known universe, but a set of articles about things which are considered notable, according to a set of guidelines which have been created. Or, to put it another way, a film may well exist, but that doesn't mean that it's considered notable according to Wikipedia's guidelines. Articles about things which don't meet these guidelines are normally deleted. There are a whole set of these guidelines, differing according to what it is being considered - the one relevant in this case can be seen by clicking here.

The article you created is fine as far as describing the plot, the actors, and even giving an IMDB entry - but all that does is prove that the film exists, not that it's notable, and that's why I proposed it for deletion. If you want it kept, you'll need to update the article with details of independent reviews, any awards, coverage in magazines etc. (What you need is listed in the 'general principles' section on the guideline page).

Since you're interested in keeping the article, I've tagged it as under construction - this will get you a few days grace to improve the article to meet the requirements above. However, if it still doesn't then meet the notability criteria, I'll take the article to AfD (Articles for Deletion) - and the article will be reviewed by other editors to see if it should be kept or not. If it is deleted, you can recreate the article assuming that you've substantially improved it - if you just try and recreate it as it is now, it will be deleted again.

Speedy deletion of Dan's Detour of Life[edit]

A tag has been placed on Dan's Detour of Life requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A1 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a very short article providing little or no context to the reader. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines.
