Hi RobLa! Can you explain to me why you reverted my revert of a persistent disruptive account who removed information from the infobox without explanation on Ammar Campa-Najjar? Your edit summary wasn’t helpful[1] because you used Wikipedia:Rollback, but this doesnt fall under one of the five appropriate uses of rollback so you’re going to need to explain why you used rollback as well. Horse Eye Jack, my apologies! I don't remember making this edit, and it might have been a mistake on my part. It appears as though the the listing of Ammar Campa-Najjar's parents is there without citation, so I'm a bit reluctant to reinstate the addition, but I don't plan to further mix myself up in the editing of that article. If you feel it's a defensible well-cited addition, then make the change, and I promise I won't use the rollback tool again on your edits. -- RobLa (talk) 16:40, 25 January 2020 (UTC)
Thank you, I will add an explicit citation but didnt feel it was necesarry because his family is much more extensively covered in the reporting than the families of most political candidates both because its absolutely fascinating (his grandfather being killed, it turns out mistakenly, by Israeli commandos in front of his father features in the 2005 movie Munich) and because his political opponents have tried to make an issue out of his heritage and particularly his faith. How we will see unregistered users

Hi!

You get this message because you are an admin on a Wikimedia wiki.

When someone edits a Wikimedia wiki without being logged in today, we show their IP address. As you may already know, we will not be able to do this in the future. This is a decision by the Wikimedia Foundation Legal department, because norms and regulations for privacy online have changed.

Instead of the IP we will show a masked identity. You as an admin will still be able to access the IP. There will also be a new user right for those who need to see the full IPs of unregistered users to fight vandalism, harassment and spam without being admins. Patrollers will also see part of the IP even without this user right. We are also working on better tools to help.

If you have not seen it before, you can read more on Meta. If you want to make sure you don’t miss technical changes on the Wikimedia wikis, you can subscribe to the weekly technical newsletter.

We have two suggested ways this identity could work. We would appreciate your feedback on which way you think would work best for you and your wiki, now and in the future. You can let us know on the talk page. You can write in your language. The suggestions were posted in October and we will decide after 17 January.

Thanks for letting me know, User:Silikonz. I really don't care enough about Draft:USC News much more time thinking about topic before it gets arbitrarily deleted from Draft: namespace (though I may copy it to "User:RobLa/USC News" so that I have a copy in two years when I might care more). My stub for Mt St Helens was good enough to get the ball rolling twenty years ago, and I was hoping that Draft:USC News] would see the same effect when it was in the main namespace. However, User:Extraordinary Writ was pretty swift to move it to Draft: space, so it seems pretty unlikely that anyone who cares about USC News will ever see it. The thing I've found so powerful about Wikipedia is "Cunningham's law"; and I've frequently been pleased to see others improve my work in the main namespace. However, the Draft: namespace doesn't seem to work like any good wiki I've been on. I highly doubt that anyone from USC or most of the rest of the world will notice it in the Draft: namespace (please correct me if I'm wrong). Should Wikipedia editors keep citing the website (like we've done dozens if not hundreds of times before), and force people to do their own research on the website to understand the source? Just for the record, RobLa, Silikonz moved the article to draftspace, not me: all I did was some minor cleanup work. As for your message, I certainly sympathize, but I suppose it was inevitable that once Wikipedia became the #1 result for most search queries, its minimum standards for sourcing, notability, etc. would have to rise, and that certainly comes with both pros and cons. Thanks for the clarification/correction, User:Extraordinary Writ. I see that now, per <https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Special:Undelete&target=USC_News>. I thought it was you because I initially just saw your username in the deletion log. Regardless, I don't think that a stub article from a twenty-year editor that has only been in place for a few hours needs to be as quickly disposed of, especially given just how often "USC News" is cited on this website. If there's any extra templates and prose necessary to make a "proper" (e.g. "Template:California-university-stub"), I'd appreciate learning more. However, the swift move into Draft: namespace seemed hasty and counterproductive, and the lack of an article seems like a disservice to readers interested in the articles for which USC News provides source material. -- RobLa (talk) 08:49, 22 January 2023 (UTC)
I get it, and there are plenty of people out there who would agree you. You can move the draft back to mainspace if you want, although I wouldn't recommend it unless you can find some good independent sources about USC News first: otherwise it'd probably be nominated for deletion, which isn't exactly an enjoyable experience. Apologies for responding this late; I was caught up in some personal work. To clarify, independent sources are usually preferred in the mainspace, and citing Wikipedia itself in articles does not grant notability (WP:CIRCULAR). Student media is usually subject to the same guidelines as other media in WP:NME. You are completely welcome to object or put the draft in your userspace if you like. Thanks!
