Just like to add a personal note to the automatic template above. WP needs genuine experts so I'm glad to see you getting involved. WP culture takes a lot of getting used to, and I'm happy to respond to questions. One point to mention early on is that there is a Conflict of Interest policy (WP:COI) so to stay on the right side of it you should avoid editing the article about yourself. Wikiversity and psychology

Hi Robert, I just came across http://www.psychologicalscience.org/apswi and noticed that the focus of this initiative appears to be on WP as opposed to the WMF sister projects. I'd like to invite you to check out psychology learning resources, activities, research etc. on Wikiversity. e.g. v:Psychology, v:Category:Psychology e.g., some recent courses I've taught on WV include v:Survey research and design in psychology, v:Psychology 102, v:Motivation and emotion, v:Social psychology (psychology). Feel free to join in, send your students over, or encourage colleagues in WV's direction. WV tends to provide a much less daunting and much more encouraging editing environment than is often the case on WP, plus WV accepts lesson plans, curriculum, as well as original research etc. so often fits the profile of academic's work tasks better than the constraints of encyclopedic writing. • Thanks for your latest comments, Robert. I'm convinced that what your class, and the APS initiative generally, is doing *is* important and the quality of the work put in by the students is very high. I'm concerned and sorry that I'm not going to find time to review the other articles they submit for GA: there's no lack of will to do so. I've put a call for other reviewers on the Wikiproject Psychology talk page. I don't think your class is listed in the List of school and university projects. It may be advantageous to put it there: there will be wikipedians there who are experienced with class projects and may be able to give similarly helpful feedback. Hi Robert - I'm jumping into the APS Wikipedia Initiative this Spring with my Industrial Psychology students at Ball State University. I'm trying to locate some wikipedia ambassadors to assist my students, but am getting stuck: the process does not seem to be well-defined. Any chance you can point me in the right direction or provide suggestions? AFD: Dimensional approach/models of personality disorders

Hello Dr. Kraut, I am the creator of/main contributor to the dimensional models of personality disorders page. Thank you very much for your vote to keep the page - it is part of a class project and I am a first-time contributor to Wikipedia, so I am still new to doing organization, tone, etc. correctly according to Wikipedia guidelines. I am fully in support of editing the page so that is more up to Wikipedia's standards and plan to work on it throughout the week, and suggestions you have of what I could do to improve the page would be much appreciated. I'll look at the Dimensional models of personality disorders ASAP. My advice to the instructor (and students) would be to try to provide sources to prove the article's notability at the AFD discussion. GA assessment of DARPA Network Challenge

Hi. I have done an initial assessment of DARPA Network Challenge, which appears to have been nominated by one of the students on your course, but have had no response so far. Would I be right in assuming that the students have now finished this module, and so are unlikely to respond? If so, I wonder if such a possibility should be more clearly flagged, so that reviewers know that the articles are unlikely to be fixed. Regards. Bob1960evens (talk) 09:44, 22 May 2012 (UTC)

Bob, My class is indeed over. Even though some students continue editing after the term is finished, I suspect that most students won't return to fix problems that reviews have uncovered. I've sent the students working on the Network Challenge article a pointer to your review, but can' guarantee that they will fix the problems you identified.

How do you suggest I signal that students may not respond to reviews after a class is over? Should this be done when an article is originally nominated (e.g., by saying on the nomination that the editor will be working on the article until X date)? Or should this be something I do on article talk pages after the course is closed?

By the way, the the future, I will not allow students to nominate articles for GA status until the article has gone through an internal review by other students within the class. Robertekraut (talk) 13:53, 22 May 2012 (UTC)

I'm not an expert on how this should be done, but a note on the talk page might help, or the GA review request has an optional Note field, which is often used to say things like: "The nominator is unavailable between ... ", or I used it recently for a Geography article to say "This could also have been listed under Transport", because it was about rail transport on a peat bog. Maybe something like "This is nominated as part of a course which ends in May, and the nominator may not be available after that date". Regards. Bob1960evens (talk) 14:37, 22 May 2012 (UTC)

Change in your user rights

Your Wikipedia account was previously granted a user right called "course instructor" by the Wiki Education Foundation. That right enabled you to create a course page through the EducationProgram MediaWiki extension. Starting in fall 2015, the Wiki Education Foundation has discontinued its use of this extension. Going forward, users should create course pages through the Wiki Education Foundation website. That application is more user-friendly, and any content is automatically mirrored to Wikipedia. To prevent confusion, we'll be removing your "course instructor" user right, as it is not needed with the new system. This is simply a notification of the technical change to your account. No action is needed from you at this time.
