AMIA Bombing may be of interest[edit]

I made some edits to the AMIA Bombing page. Hezbollah was accused in involvement but there isn't any hard evidence. The page contained some POV statements that I removed. I think that it is still too biased, though. Count Iblis 16:05, 21 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

The video is down, but even if it wasn't, might I suggest a different source? A video, especially as concerns air-to-surface warfare is probably not a good source, particularly as the Middle East is ripe with fake videos and fraud concerns Israeli, American or Jordanian action. Air-to-surface warfare is particularly so, since the ranges are so great. Additionally, it could have been a stray shell or (unlikely) a non-Israeli aircraft. Also, I am considering posting a neutrality tag on the article as well (It uses loaded language). Cheers. V. Joe 20:27, 10 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

License tagging for Image:LocationPT.png[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:LocationPT.png. Wikipedia gets thousands of images uploaded every day, and in order to verify that the images can be legally used on Wikipedia, the source and copyright status must be indicated. Images need to have an image tag applied to the image description page indicating the copyright status of the image. This uniform and easy-to-understand method of indicating the license status allows potential re-users of the images to know what they are allowed to do with the images.

For more information on using images, see the following pages:

This is an automated notice by OrphanBot. If you need help on selecting a tag to use, or in adding the tag to the image description, feel free to post a message at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. 21:07, 6 July 2006 (UTC)

Was there a reason for adding it to [[Category:Cities in Palestine]]? Kari Hazzard (talk | contrib) 15:02, 7 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Jerusalem has not been divided since the Six Day War. The whole city, not part of it, is currently in Israel. Also, please sign your comments with four tildae (~~~~) as indicated in WP:SIG. Kari Hazzard (talk | contrib) 15:13, 7 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Can you cite a source for that claim? Kari Hazzard (talk | contrib) 15:41, 7 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Fair enough, but UNSC Resolution 478 is not binding on member nations and does not reflect the current situation in the State of Israel. Kari Hazzard (talk | contrib) 15:58, 7 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Binding no, but it was a Good Idea. Kari Hazzard (talk | contrib) 16:18, 7 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Image copyright problem with Image:PAgovernorates.gif[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:PAgovernorates.gif. However, the image may soon be deleted unless we can determine the copyright holder and copyright status. The Wikimedia Foundation is very careful about the images included in Wikipedia because of copyright law (see Wikipedia's Copyright policy).

The copyright holder is usually the creator, the creator's employer, or the last person who was transferred ownership rights. Copyright information on images is signified using copyright templates. The three basic license types on Wikipedia are open content, public domain, and fair use. Find the appropriate template in Wikipedia:Image copyright tags and place it on the image page like this: {{TemplateName}}.

Please signify the copyright information on any other images you have uploaded or will upload. Remember that images without this important information can be deleted by an administrator. If you have any questions, feel free to contact me, or ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Stifle (talk) 16:43, 10 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I don't know the licence of Image:PAgovernorates.gif and don't know how to know. I brought it from www.arij.org. The bottom of the page says "all rights reserved". Robin Hood 1212 16:48, 10 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]
If it says "all rights reserved", then we absolutely cannot use it. Please don't upload images like that in future. Stifle (talk) 16:59, 10 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for uploading Image:City_of_Beirut.jpg. The image has been identified as not specifying the copyright status of the image, which is required by Wikipedia's policy on images. If you have uploaded other images, please verify that you have provided copyright information for them as well.

Speedy deletion of Lebanon-France relations[edit]

A tag has been placed on Lebanon-France relations requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A3 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is an article with no content whatsoever, or whose contents consist only of external links, "See also" section, book reference, category tag, template tag, interwiki link, rephrasing of the title, or an attempt to contact the subject of the article. Proposed deletion of "Canada-Zimbabwe relations"[edit]

The deletion of an article you created, Canada-Zimbabwe relations, has been proposed for the following reason:

Unsourced essay.

You are welcome to improve the article to meet Wikipedia's quality standards and remove the deletion notice from the article. You may also remove the notice if you disagree with the deletion, though in such cases, further discussion may take place at Articles for deletion, and the article may still be deleted if there is a consensus to do so.

Wikipedia has certain standards for inclusion that all articles must meet. Certain types of article must establish the notability of their subject by asserting its importance or significance. Additionally, since Wikipedia is an encyclopedia, content inappropriate for an encyclopedia, or content that would be more suited to somewhere else (such as a directory or social networking website) is not acceptable. See What Wikipedia is not for the relevant policy. You may wish to read our introduction to editing and guide to writing your first article.

This is an automated message from CorenSearchBot. I have performed a web search with the contents of Canada-Syria relations, and it appears to include a substantial copy of http://geo.international.gc.ca/cip-pic/geo/syria-bb-en.asp. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material; such additions will be deleted. You may use external websites as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences.

This message was placed automatically, and it is possible that the bot is confused and found similarity where none actually exists. If that is the case, you can remove the tag from the article and it would be appreciated if you could drop a note on the maintainer's talk page. Speedy deletion of Canada-Syria relations[edit]

A tag has been placed on Canada-Syria relations requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G12 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be a blatant copyright infringement. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. You may use external websites as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. This part is crucial: say it in your own words.

If the external website belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use the text — which means allowing other people to modify it — then you must include on the external site the statement "I, (name), am the author of this article, (article name), and I release its content under the terms of the GNU Free Documentation License, Version 1.2 and later." You might want to look at Wikipedia's policies and guidelines for more details, or ask a question here.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material; such additions will be deleted. Rather than leave you another form letter, I thought to simply note here that Australia–Lebanon relations is likewise a copyright problem, as the original document is protected by copyright. Israel–Lebanon relations seems to be all right. Although the latter part of it was copied verbatim from a US government site, the US government, unlike the Australian and Canadian governments, does allow free use of material it produces. I have noted the duplication at the article, however, to avoid plagiarism. As I did not find a source for the material on that page that did not duplicate the US site, I am hoping that it was a synthesis of other material, since Wikipedia is allowed to use external sources as inspiration. If you did copy it from elsewhere, please make note of that at the article, and, if the source does not have a license compatible with GFDL, remove or revise it.
If you'd like to discuss this matter further, please feel free to do so here or at the talk page of the articles. I have watchlisted them all. Thank you. --Moonriddengirl (talk) 12:46, 20 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

File source problem with File:LocationPT.png[edit]

Thank you for uploading File:LocationPT.png. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, please add a link to the page from which it was taken, together with a brief restatement of the website's terms of use of its content. If the original copyright holder is a party unaffiliated with the website, that author should also be credited. Please add this information by editing the image description page.

If the necessary information is not added within the next days, the image will be deleted. If the file is already gone, you can still make a request for undeletion and ask for a chance to fix the problem.

Please refer to the image use policy to learn what images you can or cannot upload on Wikipedia. Please also check any other files you have uploaded to make sure they are correctly tagged. You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. Asian 10,000 Challenge invite[edit]

Hi. The Wikipedia:WikiProject Asia/The 10,000 Challenge has recently started, based on the UK/Ireland Wikipedia:The 10,000 Challenge and Wikipedia:WikiProject Africa/The 10,000 Challenge. The idea is not to record every minor edit, but to create a momentum to motivate editors to produce good content improvements and creations and inspire people to work on more countries than they might otherwise work on. There's also the possibility of establishing smaller country or regional challenges for places like South East Asia, Japan/China or India etc, much like Wikipedia:The 1000 Challenge (Nordic). For this to really work we need diversity and exciting content and editors from a broad range of countries regularly contributing. At some stage we hope to run some contests to benefit Asian content, a destubathon perhaps, aimed at reducing the stub count would be a good place to start, based on the current Wikipedia:WikiProject Africa/The Africa Destubathon which has produced near 200 articles in just three days. If you would like to see this happening for Asia, and see potential in this attracting more interest and editors for the country/countries you work on please sign up and being contributing to the challenge! This is a way we can target every country of Asia, and steadily vastly improve the encyclopedia. We need numbers to make this work so consider signing up as a participant! Thank you. --Ser Amantio di NicolaoChe dicono a Signa?Lo dicono a Signa. 02:25, 21 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]

New 10,000 Challenge for Canada[edit]

Hi, Wikipedia:WikiProject Canada/The 10,000 Challenge is up and running based on Wikipedia:The 10,000 Challenge for the UK which has currently produced over 2300 article improvements and creations. If you'd like to see large scale quality improvements happening for Canada like The Africa Destubathon, which has produced over 1600 articles in 5 weeks, sign up on the page. The idea will be an ongoing national editathon/challenge for Canada but fuelled by a contest such as The North America Destubathon to really get articles on every province and subject mass improved. I would like some support from Canadian wikipedians here to get the Challenge off to a start with some articles to make doing a Destubathon worthwhile!
