License tagging for File:Tommie Frazier.jpg[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:Tommie Frazier.jpg. You don't seem to have indicated the license status of the image. Wikipedia uses a set of image copyright tags to indicate this information; to add a tag to the image, select the appropriate tag from this list, click on this link, then click "Edit this page" and add the tag to the image's description. If there doesn't seem to be a suitable tag, the image is probably not appropriate for use on Wikipedia.

For help in choosing the correct tag, or for any other questions, leave a message on Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. Thank you for your cooperation. --ImageTaggingBot (talk) 18:32, 24 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

File:Tommie Frazier.jpg listed for deletion[edit]

A file that you uploaded or altered, File:Tommie Frazier.jpg, has been listed at Wikipedia:Files for deletion. Please see the discussion to see why this is (you may have to search for the title of the image to find its entry), if you are interested in it not being deleted. Thank you. ww2censor (talk) 05:01, 25 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Dear uploader: The media file you uploaded as File:D.J. Shockley by Brent Sanderlin.jpg has been listed for speedy deletion because you selected a copyright license type implying some type of restricted use, such as for non-commercial use only, or for educational use only or for use on Wikipedia by permission. While it might seem reasonable to assume that such files can be freely used on Wikipedia, this is in fact not the case[1][2]. Please do not upload any more files with these restrictions on them, because images on Wikipedia need to be compatible with the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike or another free license, which allow anyone to use it for any purpose, commercial or non-commercial. See our non-free content guidelines for more more information.

If you created this media file and want to use it on Wikipedia, you may re-upload it (or amend the image description if it has not yet been deleted) and use the license {{cc-by-sa-3.0}} to license it under the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike 3.0 license, or use {{PD-self}} to release it into the public domain. Note, if you did create this file, you may want to upload it to Wikimedia Commons, which will allow the image to be accessed by all Wikimedia Foundation projects (which include the various localized versions of Wikipedia)

If you did not create this media file, please understand that the vast majority of images found on the internet are not appropriate for Wikipedia. Most content on the internet is copyrighted and the creator of the image has exclusive rights to use it. Wikipedia respects the copyrights of others - do not upload images that violate others' copyrights. In certain limited cases, we may be able to use an image under a claim of fair use - if you are certain that fair use would apply here, you may choose one of the fair use tags from this list. If no fair use rationale applies, you may want to contact the copyright holder and request that they make the media available under a free license.

If you have any questions please ask at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. Thank you. Acather96 (talk) 16:32, 30 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Orphaned non-free image File:Derek Brown (running back).jpg[edit]

⚠

Thanks for uploading File:Derek Brown (running back).jpg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of "file" pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Skier Dude (talk 05:28, 4 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Re file comment[edit]

Hi! I think you are looking for {{PD-US-not renewed}}. I, however, do not know if it really was not renewed, so you will have to vouch for that. Sorry:Jay8g Hi!- I am... -What I do... WASH- BRIDGE- WPWA - MFIC- WPIM 04:25, 7 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks Jay8g, I appreciate you working with me. I will look into it checking with various sources. I want this photo to be legit too. Anne Triola is a favorite actress for me. However, that is where the problem begins for me as I struggle to locate decent pictures of the lady. It's hard to find her even on ebay, so I will check with RKO Studios Inc. to see about the copyright on using her picture on Wikipedia immediately. It's 4 am in the morning, and I might have to go in and teach 6- and 7-year olds PE this morning, so I need to get back to bed and get some extra sleep, but Jay8g - I will look into this quickly and get back in touch with you regarding the matter.

Hi Jay8g, I emailed RKO Studios Inc. earlier today about the photograph. So I am just going to wait on their reply - and go from there. I know that from their history that RKO Studios Inc. was founded in 1929 and became defunct in 1959 only to be revived in 1981 for what it is worth. Again, I will just have to wait on their answer. I mean, they (RKO Studios Inc.) are the very ones that gave Anne Triola a chance to even act in movies to start with - or otherwise, we might not have even the slightest inkling of who Anne Triola is at all. I guess it could be said that RKO Studios Inc. made her. I believe her daughter, Tina Quartaroli, is the same Tina A. Quartaroli that is a college professor at the University of Central Missouri. Still, I am not the kind of person that will probe people all over the country. I am a Christian, and it's just my own personal belief to just give people complete privacy as the scripture (Luke 6:31) reads, "Do unto others as you would have them do unto you." Anyway, thanks Jay8g, - and I'll try to get all of this done in a timely fashion. Rod Hayes (talk) 00:55, 8 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Jay8g, I got in touch with RKO Studios Inc. That went well. Dave Woodard was very concerned about the photograph and was wanting to get in touch with you all directly. I could forward you his email. Anyway, he told me he would take it to his legal team. Now, they have told me to contact Julie Heath of Warner Bros. Anyway, I will get back in touch with you regarding this as soon as I can. Rod Hayes (talk) 18:30, 9 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Keep up the good work! Great!:Jay8g Hi!- I am... -What I do... WASH- BRIDGE- WPWA - MFIC- WPIM 01:30, 10 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks, Jay8g. I was just trying to develop my profile on here - as I am utterly behind as a Wikipedia author. Again, I will have this knocked down hopefully very, very soon. I appreciate your support. I think I need to have my "email user" set up quickly especially if I receive an email from Julie Heath within the next four or five days. The "email user" program seems challenging and difficult. Julie Heath's secretary said it would be a few days before she would have time to look at what I sent her. I quickly expressed to her that the time frame was only about 10 days and that things needed to be handled rather quickly. She seemed to understand. Rod Hayes (talk) 01:38, 10 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Hi! What you need to do now is forward the email to OTRS. Follow the steps at Commons:Commons:OTRS. Good job:Jay8g Hi!- I am... -What I do... WASH- BRIDGE- WPWA - MFIC- WPIM 01:55, 12 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I'll do it at halftime. I am a huge Jason Clark and Georgetown fan. Thanks for letting me know, Jay8g. I really appreciate this. Rod Hayes (talk) 18:30, 12 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Wow! OTRS has a literal email address! I just printed the whole section of Commons:OTRS. Georgetown leads over St. John's, 29-22, with 2:15 left in the first quarter. Rod Hayes (talk) 18:45, 12 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]

You are correct. I am glad that YOU have worked to save this file. So many people just let good images dissappear due to not bothering to stand up for them, and I find that sad. Thanks:Jay8g Hi!- I am... -What I do... WASH- BRIDGE- WPWA - MFIC- WPIM 04:07, 13 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]

That too, plus I also believe that with modern-day subjects, there is the belief that you need to go with taking your own photograph of the subject. About three years ago, I had tried to put a Tommie Frazier image on his Wikipedia only to learn that it needed copyright backing in the worse way. The odd thing is that I emailed the magazine company twice in a year's time, and I haven't heard back from them yet. That is when I realized that it would be best to just wait and see if one of his friends or someone he knew would just take a snap shot of him to give Frazier an image for his Wikipedia. Rod Hayes (talk) 13:24, 13 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I don't think you should worry about this. :Jay8g Hi!- I am... -What I do... WASH- BRIDGE- WPWA - MFIC 02:16, 17 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Jay8g, Just backing up what I have said to Ms. Heath in an email I sent her the other day ago, I will follow up on all of this and work with her to complete the licensing of the photograph - or maybe one very similar to it per her input as soon as I can. Right now, I have been school teacher job hunting as I had an interview at a middle school this past Wednesday. A friend of mine that interviewed me said it be one to two weeks before I would know anything. Ms. Heath's work will require that I pay her on a project that is more than $200.00. I just simply told Ms. Heath to put everything on hold until I am able to straighten out my situation. Rod Hayes (talk) 21:18, 17 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Your signature...[edit]

I am trying to read over all of this and comprehend it. I have been trying to understand the email user mechanism. I also see what you mean about the siglink and how it connects to user pages and different personal sections such as research or talk page. ROD_HAYES 03:55, 11 February 2012 (UTC)

Eagles24/7, It's getting very late. 11:47 pm ET. I am trying to improve my signature so that it'll allow for links to my talk page and other important places. I haven't figured out the siglink yet, but I will. As for now, I will retire for the night. ROD_HAYES 04:49, 11 February 2012 (UTC)

Hi Eagles247, I tweaked my signature with siglink. It's not as good as yours, but it will do for now. I still haven't gotten this all down yet. ROD_HAYES 17:21, 11 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I fixed it a little better. I still want to add color and make it black, but this will do OK. I am struggling with adding the user talk to connect to its page as I have tried that but am making some technical error. ROD_HAYES 18:09, 11 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Keep working at it, you'll get the hang of it. Eagles 24/7 (C) 18:54, 11 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited Claudia McNeil, you added links pointing to the disambiguation pages Black Girl and The Nurses (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

Use dashes in sports scores[edit]

Rod, I have noted that you have replace ndashes with hyphens in sports scores in several articles recently. Please note that ndashes, not hyphens, are the proper punctuation mark to use per the Wikipedia Manual of Style and are universally used by WP:CFB and WP:NFL. (Please see MOS:DASH for more explanation.) Regards, Dirtlawyer1 (talk) 03:14, 12 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]
