There has been some local controversy about the artist being from California. I think that will die down in time, we will see. I believe this artwork could become notable enough for a Wikipedia article, but we aren't quite there, yet. Juneau Mike (talk) 17:31, 1 October 2017 (UTC)

Well, if it's a new article & it's a bio & it's about a woman, then it's within the scope of Women in Red and we'd be pleased to be notified about any pages you (or any other reliable NPP) find at NPP that you think might be salvageable with some fixing up. Better that we work on it early (proactive) vs. when it gets to AfD (reactive); we get a lot of AfD posts. The more I think about it... it would be trend-setting if we were notified about the potentially-fixable ones by NPPs, especially interested in the non-BLPs (as the BLPs have their own issues and, of course, there is so much chatter these days about paid-editing + BLPs). --Rosiestep (talk) 16:33, 17 October 2017 (UTC)
As I'm getting more used to PyWikiBot programming, I could cobble something together to parse User:AlexNewArtBot/WomeninredSearchResult and basically check for tags, lack of references, or other issues. Sort of a Suggestbot for WiR. I know we've got Wikipedia:WikiProject Women in Red/Article alerts, but this would catch new articles as soon as they're created. And I'd have to say that on WiR we are always looking for ways to automate things like generating redlists using Wikidata or finding newly created articles. Ritchie333 - I love the idea of cobbling together some tool like that. Is it doable? It has the potential for a massive positive impact on our work, though others might not agree. I really like the idea, for multiple reasons. It gives people who may not want to/be comfortable with writing an article a means to contribute by helping to source and edit other biographies, it will hopefully put new authors in a more productive environment where they are encouraged than in AfC (or AfD), etc. Yup, I'd be all for it as long as I don't have to try to design it ;) SusunW (talk) 17:05, 17 October 2017 (UTC)
If you need an extra set of hands for the programming, Ritchie333, maybe @Bobo.03, Emijrp, and Harej: might have some ideas as they have been helpful with other tools/bots for Women in Red. (apologies in advance for talking technical gobbledegook on Rosie's page) Okay, I've written some pywikibot code that can pick out candidates for speedy deletion, see if they should be appropriate for WiR, then flags them up. It's in User:Ritchie333/wircsd.py. @Cyberpower678:, @Enterprisey:, does this look like something you could put in a bot? It could be extended to run every 5 minutes or so to a file (instead of just printing the article and the score), then a template could parse that file (kind of how the RfA box is now done?) which would be transcluded on the main project page. Alternatively, I have a Raspberry Pi sitting around doing absolutely nothing that I could put pywikibot on and basically run it as a bot myself, provided I can wrap my head around the bot policies which I've never gone anywhere near until now. While I think it would be useful to have a tool which identifies new women's biographies which are likely to be candidates for deletion, as an article reviewer and a monitor of AlexBot, I should point out that the vast majority of problem biographies are in fact BLPs. In general, those about women who are no longer living are created by more experienced editors who take care to reference them adequately. Nevertheless, I think it might be interesting to see to what extent a tool can be developed to analyze all new women's biographies to check for serious shortcomings. The negative side of this is that page reviewers keen to find candidates for deletion will also be able to draw on the tool's output. We could then possibly face twice as many AfDs unless we take rapid remedial action. That said, I think it's worth a try. I don't think the tool should run every five minutes. I would suggest at least three hours after article creation as many editors create articles in the mainspace and continue to work on them.--Ipigott (talk) 06:53, 18 October 2017 (UTC)

Hi Rosie. It's a medieval term used in the south of France and is roughly equivalent to a high-ranking magistrate or judge. A viguier was originally appointed by the count responsible for the province or later by the king and acted as the judicial authority in the area he covered. It comes from the Latin vicarius (representative) which gives us vicar in English, originally a bishop's representative in the days of Catholicism. Help with article?

Hi,

I noticed that you're a member of the Women in Technology project and I wonder whether you might like to review Draft: Caryn Marooney, an executive at Facebook who runs communications there. I have a WP: COI, so must reach out for an independent review of my submissions, although I'm an experienced Wikipedia editor (hardly at your level, though).

FYI, I submit articles through WP: AfC all the time and my general impression is that reviewers are tougher on articles about women. Hard for me to prove this considering my small sample size (this is only the 4th woman of 10 BLPs I've submitted through AfC, 9 of which have been approved so far.) But I wonder if someone looked for a year at the rate of first and second rejections for BLP submitted at AfC, comparing women to men, if there would be a difference. My hunch is it would be substantial.
