Champion of the Colony / Champion Players.

I am well aware of the controversy caused by Graeme Atkinson. I am about to remove the early references to Tom Wills as a Champion Player.

However, I would defend the continuance of the Chapion of the Colony on this page. I am sure that you realise that most historians would support this.

You are well aware of the intense discussion on the topic of "Champion of the Colony" which appears on the discussion page of the Wikipedia site of the same name. I note your contributions to this discussion, along with those from many others who disagree with you. I believe that this particular discussion page is the correct place for this debate but not the 1859-1900 History.

The comments that are expressed on the 1859-1900 history are endorsed by many of those who have contributed to the Champion of the Colony debate. Of course, I respect your right to have a different opinion and know that we will both be respectful toward each other even though we agree to disagree on this one point.

Australian football

Australian football must use lower case as it is not a proper noun. This is also standard wikipedia formatting. Plus this link indicates both 'Australian Football' and 'Australian football' are both acceptable and the text below comes from that site (which includes both upper and lower case variants underlined):

Whether it is called Australian Football, Australian Rules Football, "Aussie Rules", the VFL, the AFL, Australia's only indigenous football code is officially entitled 'Australian football'. It has never been officially referred to as 'Australian rules football'. Such terminology has only ever appeared in the form of football journalism, coined by different writers.

G'day Ross, When you find "new old" information, can you please try to put the citation in the article, not just in the edit summary, such as this edit. As the 35 and 36 B&F winners aren't listed in the "official" AFL histories, I'd assume that they also aren't listed in the only source mentioned in the article. New dees logo

Tasmanian FOOTBALL League

TSL causes confusion with soccer. Please leave me reversions alone. The only time to use "State League" is to use the full promotional name "Wrest Point State League", which we can't do here because that's advertising. It must stay TFL because that is the name the fans know it as according to an official of AFL Tasmania. Promotional names don't count. Capitalisation

Who or what says that "Australian Football" is the official name? Australian football is a common noun like any other sport. American, association, Gaelic, Canadian, and the other footballs aren't capitalized. - HappyWaldo (talk) 05:18, 25 April 2013 (UTC)

Lists of English cricketers

Hi. Thanks for adding links in to the Lists of English cricketers from the mid-19th century. I've worked on List of English cricketers (1841–1850) over the last week or so and now have it set up as a tabular format to allow short bios to be added in. Eventually I might decide to work on the other lists from 1851 onward - perhaps combining them in some way. If I do I'll probably use the same sort of format - it seems to have worked for the previous lists in the series OK.

If the names of as many of these chaps as possible are already there in the article it will make the job so much easier to do - so thanks for adding those that you have and, well, if you can add anymore then that'd be appreciated!

I should imagine quite a lot played prior to 1851 so the names will already have been tracked down for those guys btw. Well, in most cases: there may be a few rogue ones lurking somewhere or other that are still red links in the 41-50 list. Thanks again... Blue Square Thing (talk) 22:06, 27 August 2019 (UTC)

For clubs with a large number of major trophies, it may be appropriate to omit second places.) If this is different to the "previous developed consensus" you mention, perhaps you could guide me to the appropriate discussion of six years or so ago. ArbCom 2023 Elections voter message

Hello! Voting in the 2023 Arbitration Committee elections is now open until 23:59 (UTC) on Monday, 11 December 2023. All eligible users are allowed to vote. Users with alternate accounts may only vote once.

The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to impose binding solutions to disputes between editors, primarily for serious conduct disputes the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the authority to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.
