Peter Fulton[edit]

Hey Rudolph89, cheers for keeping any eye on edits but the data (as referenced, and shown below) shows it is the 71st time an international player has achieved a century in both innings, and the 63 player as 10 players have done it twice (Sutcliffe, Headley, Walcott, Chappell, Gavaskar, Border, de Silva, Hayden, Dravid), and Ponting has done it 3 times. It also shows he is the 4th New Zealand player to do so (Howarth, Turner, Jones, and Fulton).

Ryanevison (talk) 08:46, 27 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Ryanevison, thanks for your updates on the Peter Fulton page, personally I wouldn't include this statistic because it isn't that notable, (its not like he's the 3rd player ever to do this in Test history). Also it's time consuming to check that he does infact rank no.71, if it was reported in a Newspaper article that he is the "71st" then I would be more likely to include it because its easier to verify. Cheers Rudolph89talk 05:26, 28 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Since you mistakenly created the page, all you need to do is delete content and add {{db-author}} Jons63 (talk) 02:01, 3 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Actually, you don't need to do anything to the John Cutler (sailor) page—I've already turned it into a redirect to John Cutler (yachtsman). If anything needs tagged db-author, it's the AfD page. —C.Fred (talk) 02:03, 3 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Netballer Infobox[edit]

Hi, Rudolph89. Thanks for adding the medal table to {{Infobox Netballer}}. I tried adding the new medal table markup into an infobox on the Jessica Tuki article, and I didn't see any problems. But it does need some reformatting to make it look a little nicer (so does the whole infobox). I'll work on reformatting the entire infobox this morning. When that's done, I'll drop you a line here so that you can tell me whether I've done it correctly or not. Cheers. Liveste (talkedits) 00:36, 12 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I had a go at reformatting the medal record on {{Infobox Netballer}}, and after a whole lot of trial and error, the final code isn't that much different from what you added. I trialled the revised infobox on the Romelda Aiken article. It's a slight improvement ... maybe. One thing though, I don't think it's necessary to add {{MedalSport|Women's [[Netball]]}} to an infobox that's specifically about netball. Tell me what you think. Liveste (talkedits) 16:11, 13 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Oh I'm sorry, I thought you wanted a collapsible box for the medal record. As it turns out, having the whole medal box display all at once is actually easier to code (this is assuming the athlete actually has a medal to begin with). So yeah, I could do that as well. Liveste (talkedits) 16:54, 13 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Oh okay, a collapsible box that by default is uncollapsed. All in all, it looks pretty good to me. If there are no other changes that you want to suggest (you're welcome to suggest more), then I'll remove the {{Underconstruction}} tag and update the template's documentation. Cheers. Fair use rationale for File:Upper Hutt College crest.jpg[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:Upper Hutt College crest.jpg. You've indicated that the image meets Wikipedia's criteria for non-free content, but there is no explanation of why it meets those criteria. Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. If you have any questions, please post them at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions.

Thank you for your cooperation. NOTE: once you correct this, please remove the tag from the image's page. STBotI (talk) 11:41, 19 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

NZL at the British Empire Games[edit]

Hi! I saw that you have "corrected" the names of the NZL athletes e.g. on 1950 British Empire Games. I added all the names a few months ago and I tried to use the used names/common names all these athletes were known for... This was a hard work and of course this was for I reason. Most of the wiki pages uses the names the people are known for. Is there also a reason that you do not want to use them? Kind reagrds Doma-w (talk) 22:10, 23 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Ok, sorry. I've been using the athlete names as listed at www.commonwealthgames.org.nz as I thought they would be a reliable source to get New Zealand names. Is there a better source to get the correct athlete names? cheers
Well, of course there is not only one single source. I think it will be impossible to find one single source for boxers, cyclists, and fencers? Maybe starting a biographical article needs some more research. E.g. for Jim Beal [1] or [2]. Kind regards Doma-w (talk) 14:55, 26 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

New Zealand sports biographies[edit]

Hi Rudolph89 - good to see a batch of new stub articles relating to new Zealand sport! Could I please ask you, if you make any more, to be sure you add {{NewZealand-sport-bio-stub}} or one of its subtypes to them - it makes it easier for other editors to find the articles for future expansion. Cheers, and keep up the good work! Grutness...wha? 09:38, 11 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, no worries I'll try to remember, I haven't been so good at putting the correct stub on new articles, cheers Rudolph89 (talk) 11:03, 11 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

You are now a Reviewer[edit]

Hello. Your account has been granted the "reviewer" userright, allowing you to review other users' edits on certain flagged pages. Pending changes, also known as flagged protection, will be commencing a two-month trial at approximately 23:00, 2010 June 15 (UTC).

Reviewers can review edits made by users who are not autoconfirmed to articles placed under flagged protection. Flagged protection is applied to only a small number of articles, similarly to how semi-protection is applied but in a more controlled way for the trial.

When reviewing, edits should be accepted if they are not obvious vandalism or BLP violations, and not clearly problematic in light of the reason given for protection (see Wikipedia:Reviewing process). More detailed documentation and guidelines can be found here.

If you do not want this userright, you may ask any administrator to remove it for you at any time. Courcelles (talk) 22:22, 15 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Architecture of Māori buildings[edit]

Hi Rudolph89 - I note that you have been creating a number of articles about the structure of meeting houses. I don't want to discourage you as your contribution will provide a vualable resource, but wish to suggest that, because the items in themselves are minor, you combine into a single article on the meeting house with description's of each item within the context of the structure. NealeFamily (talk) 09:40, 18 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, I didn't think of that. That does make sense though, as a lot of the building parts make up the body of an ancestor. Any thoughts on what I would call the article, something like Structure of a wharenui? Rudolph89 (talk) 22:53, 18 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]

How about adding it to the article on the Wharenui with the title you suggest as a heading. If I recollect correctly (I am no expert), the way the Wharenui is constructed and its integral parts have significance as well. Your descriptions would then fit well within the article. Sean Johnson[edit]

Hi, and thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. It appears that you recently tried to give Sean Johnson a different title by copying its content and pasting either the same content, or an edited version of it, into another page with a different name. This is known as a "cut and paste move", and it is undesirable because it splits the page history, which is needed for attribution and various other purposes. Instead, the software used by Wikipedia has a feature that allows pages to be moved to a new title together with their edit history.

In most cases, once your account is four days old and has ten edits, you should be able to move an article yourself using the "Move" tab at the top of the page. This both preserves the page history intact and automatically creates a redirect from the old title to the new. If you cannot perform a particular page move yourself this way (e.g. because a page already exists at the target title), please follow the instructions at requested moves to have it moved by someone else. Also, if there are any other pages that you moved by copying and pasting, even if it was a long time ago, please list them at Wikipedia:Cut and paste move repair holding pen. Thank you. Tassedethe (talk) 13:22, 12 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry about that, the Sean Johnson page has now been moved through a request, thanks for the information. Rudolph89 (talk) 07:23, 13 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Two Wikimedians have credentials to attend these games as reporters through Wikimedia Australia. As English Wikipedia does not allow original reporting, this is largely through Wikinews with a project page found at Wikinews:Paralympic Games. If you are interested in helping to get Wikimedians to the next Summer Olympics,I'd encourage you to assist with Wikinews efforts, and also to work on all language 2012 Summer Paralympic Wikipedia articles before, during and after the Games to demonstrate a track record of success. Thank you. --LauraHale (talk) 04:21, 17 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Hello! I am working on the russian version "Burnside High School" article, which currently has short history section in wikipedia. I am writing you to ask - is there a possibility for you to visit a National Library at Welligton and obtain an electronic copy of book "Choosing the right path : Burnside High School 1960-2010 / Paul O'Connor" (http://natlib.govt.nz/records/21643829), and put some information into the article? Also I can buy a hard copy of that book. Could you give me an advice, if it's possible? I'll be happy to get any version and any part of that book. Edit-a-thon in Wellington, May 29[edit]

Hi there. I'm organising an edit-a-thon at Te Papa on Sunday May 29th, focussed on adding NZ flora and fauna species to Wikipedia. It would be good to have some more experienced editors along to help any complete beginners, and I wonder if you might be interested in attending. If so, feel free to add yourself to the Wikipedia:Meetup/Wellington/2016_Edit-a-thon. It would be great to have a good turnout and show Te Papa there's an active local editing community. Proposed deletion of Te Mārama[edit]

The article Te Mārama has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Does not seem to be independently notable, perhaps there is a list of people who signed the treaty somewhere that this can be added to instead?

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Māori electorates[edit]

I see you are doing good work getting macrons into articles where they should be. A big task no doubt, and good on you for tackling it. That said, there are the four historic Māori electorates, and they don't have a macron in their titles: Eastern Maori, Northern Maori, Southern Maori, and Western Maori. They existed from 1868 until the introduction of MMP in 1996 and during their entire existence, macrons were not used for the electorate names. It would therefore not be correct, in my opinion, to retrospectively introduce the macrons. I thought I'd check in with you whether we are on the same page. You can reply here, as I've put your page onto my watchlist. Thanks, and keep up your good work. Schwede66 20:53, 6 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Schwede, thanks for your message and support. Yeah I understand where you're coming from, I will try to not accidentally change those pages you are talking about! There is a bit of a murky area here, where say 100 years ago Māori names were misspelled and most publications/references used those wrong names. So I feel I'm updating history in a sense, which does feel a little weird. When I update the macrons on a person's biography I am leaving the reference sections as they are, because they often contain old books on the person and I don't think I should be altering old book titles with a macron, as that changes the name of a publication.Rudolph89talk 09:42, 8 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]

New Challenge for Oceania and Australia[edit]

Hi, Wikipedia:WikiProject Oceania/The 10,000 Challenge and Wikipedia:WikiProject Australia/The 5000 Challenge are up and running based on Wikipedia:The 10,000 Challenge which has currently produced over 2300 article improvements and creations. The Australia challenge would feed into the wider region one and potentially New Zealand could have a smaller challenge too. The main goal is content improvement, tackling stale old stubs and important content and improving sourcing/making more consistent but new articles are also welcome if sourced. I understand that this is a big goal for regular editors, especially being summertime where you are, but if you'd like to see large scale quality improvements happening for Oceania and Australia like The Africa Destubathon, which has produced over 1700 articles in 5 weeks, sign up on the page. The idea will be an ongoing national editathon/challenge for the region but fuelled by a series of contests to really get articles on every province and subject mass improved. The Africa contest scaled worldwide would naturally provide great benefits to Oceania countries, particularly Australia and attract new editors. I would like some support from existing editors here to get the Challenges off to a start with some articles to make doing a Destubathon worthwhile and potentially bring about hundreds of improvements in a few weeks through a contest! Cheers.♦ --MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 02:12, 24 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Invitation to an in-person meetup in Mohua / Golden Bay[edit]

Golden Bay Air are holding some seats for us until 21 November

Thinking about your summer break? Think about joining other Wikipedians and Wikimedians in Golden Bay / Mohua! Details are on the meetup page. There's heaps of interesting stuff to work on e.g. the oldest extant waka or New Zealand's oldest ongoing legal case. Or you may spend your time taking photos and then upload them.

Golden Bay is hard to get to and the airline flying into Tākaka uses small planes, so we are holding some seats from and to Wellington and we are offering attendees a $200 travel subsidy to help with costs.

Be in touch with Schwede66 if this event interests you and you'd like to discuss logistics. Schwede66 09:14, 13 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]
