Thanks for the info on Saleem Kidwai[edit]

Ruth, I'm glad you updating the article on Saleem. We were friends in the 1980s when I was doing my MA at the Delhi School of Economics, and that's why I wanted to start an article on him. Interlingua 19:25, 10 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Article about you[edit]

And I'm also the person who started the Wikipedia article on you. I wanted to make some effort to expand the South Asian queer articles here. Interlingua 19:26, 10 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Don't edit articles related to yourself[edit]

Hello Ruth Vanita,
I appreciate your contributions on the Wikipedia but stay away from editing articles of yourself, your friends and organisations as this is serious violation of WP:COI policy and which can lead to block you from editing on Wikipedia. Go through the wikipedia policies at once and try to add sources of your any claim which you are not doing as of now. Wikipedia is not place of promoting your books and studies. This has been seriously taken to the notice and don't violate more Wikipedia policies. Your page Ruth Vanita has been nominated from deletion by me. If you are against it then please present your opinion on it's deletion page.

Information icon Hello, I'm Harshil169. I wanted to let you know that one or more of your recent contributions to Ruth Vanita have been undone because they appeared to be promotional. Advertising and using Wikipedia as a "soapbox" are against Wikipedia policy and not permitted; Wikipedia articles should be written objectively, using independent sources, and from a neutral perspective. Take a look at the welcome page to learn more about Wikipedia. Ruth, I can see you have added details about yourself and your books on the wikipedia page of yourself which is serious violation of WP:COI and however, I have requested to delete your page. But in future, make sure that you won't edit any content related to you or your friends. Wikipedia is not place to promote your books. Have a good time on Wikipedia. September 2019[edit]

Do not edit Ruth Vanita. Is that clear? Find something else less promotional to do. If you are Ruth Vanita, you should not be editing an autobiography. And if you are not Ruth Vanita, you should not be editing here under her name. —David Eppstein (talk) 01:50, 18 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Information icon Please do not add promotional material to Wikipedia, as you did to Ruth Vanita. While objective prose about beliefs, organisations, people, products or services is acceptable, Wikipedia is not a vehicle for soapboxing, advertising or promotion. -- Harshil want to talk? 04:29, 18 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]
