Finding Images[edit]

What sites can i safely take images from Rvpisagooner (talk) 19:18, 25 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

That's a tough one to answer, I'm afraid.. at least it is for me. (I'm no expert!). The problem is ownership and licensing. There are sites that have images that are in the public domain, but you have to note what their licensing and reuse policies are before you can use them on Wikipedia. I know that images that you have created are ok (but remember, if you upload them, you are allowing others to use them). Images produced by the government are usable - I'm 99% sure, you should check that. Off the top of my head I can't think of sites with free images. You just have to find what you're looking for and then see if permission is given to reuse the images. Sorry I'm not able to be more help on images. Wikipelli Talk 19:22, 25 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

do you know how i could get help and i see a lot of things about flickr on the wikimedia commons thing, will i get into trouble if i use and image i didnt know i couldnt use? Rvpisagooner (talk) 19:26, 25 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Get in trouble? Not really, unless you blatantly disregard licensing and put things up that you know are not free to use. If you mistakenly put up a non-free image, it will probably just be removed by another editor and you'll get a warning. Wikipelli Talk 19:41, 25 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]
