Pokemon Edit

Should this edit by MarnetteD be reverted?—cyberpower (Talk to Me)(Contributions) 17:56, 1 November 2011 (UTC)

No. In fact, we should not flood the infobox with the dub info.—Ryulong (竜龙) 18:51, 1 November 2011 (UTC)
My mistake sorry. (Pokémon Black and White Episodes)—cyberpower (Talk to Me)(Contributions) 20:51, 1 November 2011 (UTC)
Pardon?—Ryulong (竜龙) 22:00, 1 November 2011 (UTC)
Where I accidentally removed the thing and you told me to try to avoid removing that in the List of Pokémon Black and White episodes.—cyberpower (Talk to Me)(Contributions) 00:04, 2 November 2011 (UTC)

Should this edit be allowed?—cyberpower (Talk to Me)(Contributions) 15:32, 6 November 2011 (UTC)
P.S: If you could send me a talkback template, that would be helpful. I'm doing 17 different things right now.—cyberpower (Talk to Me)(Contributions) 15:34, 6 November 2011 (UTC)

Hey Ryulong! Any chance you may take notice of my question?—cyberpower (Talk to Me)(Contributions) 23:12, 6 November 2011 (UTC)
Herp, sorry. I hate the talkback template, and no that should not be allowed.—Ryulong (竜龙) 23:23, 6 November 2011 (UTC)

The Amazing Race 19, Leg 6

Regarding the Memorial Tower of Leg 6 in Lilongwe, I think it is notable that the "clue box" was at the foot of a bronze statue of the now deceased 31-year leader (dictator) of Malawi, Hastings Banda (#28 at List of longest ruling non-royal national leaders since 1900). I would like suggestions on how / whether you would incorporate this factoid into the article. Cheers. – Jwkozak91 (talk) 23:31, 1 November 2011 (UTC)

By all accounts, they went to this thing. Mentioning anything else would kind of be original research, unless that statue is stated to be at this tower.—Ryulong (竜龙) 23:35, 1 November 2011 (UTC)

Forum shopping and you

Alright I'm going to be rather blunt here. Frankly your forum shopping is getting annoying and to some frustrating. There are over 1.5k admins on here, meaning at any given moment someone can see your request. However you have a history of crossposting at multiple places within project space, such as posting socks to WP:AIV as well as WP:SPI. If you don't get the responses you want there you take it to IRC. Please stop, just because a vandal and/or sock isn't taken care of when you want it does not mean it won't be taken care of. I understand you're a former admin and could have dealt with it as it popped up, but since this is no longer the case you have to be a little patient. Alexandria (talk) 04:16, 2 November 2011 (UTC)

AIV was the first stop because it was clearly a sock of someone. Then I figured out who it was. And then I sent it to SPI to take care of any sleeper accounts.—Ryulong (竜龙) 04:24, 2 November 2011 (UTC)

Wholesale removal of referenced content

I have been asked to have a look at your recent reversions to many of the Dragonriders of Pern series articles. The request was entirely reasonable as I am working with P64 on related articles.

You have removed referenced content wholesale with the edit summary "P64's modifications to this article render it completely out of line with the style guides."

You have not said anywhere (that I can find see below, update) what stylistic problems you are referring to, so I presume you mean the Wikipedia Manual of Style. Not even (for example) the Good Article criteria mandate strict conformance to MOS so there is no excuse for this removal on stylistic grounds.

In A Gift of Dragons you have removed standard entries (Preceded by, Followed by for example) from the info box without explanation.

You are also not generally allowed to remove referenced content from Wikipedia without a good, specific explanation (BLP or copyvio issue for example). You have provided no explanation for the removal of this reference from A Gift of Dragons:

 • Todd McCaffrey (1999). Dragonholder: The Life and Dreams (So Far) of Anne McCaffrey by her son. New York: Ballantine. ISBN 0-345-42217-1. Pages 54–55, 68–71, 74.

which is in fact perfectly well formatted and has detailed page numbers, among many others. You have left Dragon's Kin with no references at all.

I will restore all of this material for the above reasons. I accept that there are stylistic problems with the articles. WP:SOFIXIT is one approach which works rather well. If you cannot be bothered to do that, I suggest opening a talk section on, for example, Talk:Dragonriders of Pern to raise and explain your concerns in a relevant central location. You could also tag the articles and link to that explanation. --Mirokado (talk) 17:11, 5 November 2011 (UTC)

Update: I somehow missed the message you left at P64's page, even though P64 mentioned it in the message to me, sorry about that. It's clear that you looked a bit more carefully that your edit summary implied, but: what I said above still applies, content removal is not the correct reaction to style concerns. I suggest that, as I did, you create a talk page section first and link to it in the summary so recent changes patrollers and others can see immediately that the changes have been carefully considered. I am going through Dragonflight in more detail, and so far don't see anything uncorrectable. My approach will be to change that to be a good example of what I suggest and wait a while for improvements to the other articles (of course neither P64, you or anybody else has to do exactly what I say, I understand that!). --Mirokado (talk) 18:05, 5 November 2011 (UTC)

Update: I have made a first set of changes to Dragonflight, no doubt more later. Layout changes, restoring the infobox title and creating a separate Awards section were quite easy changes, you can just ask an editor nicely to do that sort of thing if you don't want to do it yourself. Restructuring to separate main content, notes and references is admittedly a bit more difficult. I have made a start. I am wondering whether the information about cover artists cannot grow into a full section of its own... --Mirokado (talk) 20:22, 5 November 2011 (UTC)

I could not tell how to adequately fix up the two dozen Dragonrider book articles other than reverting wholesale. I know it was not the optimal choice in this matter, but the fact that he
 • Added a separate "pseudo-section" for awards in the lede
 • Removed the entry for the name parameter in the pages' infoboxes
 • And formatted references so obtusely that it was difficult to read the page's source code
Led me to take that choice. If you can fix up these massive problems I had, good on you. But I believe that such a long-term editor on this site should at least know what isn't ugly. And adding talk page sections for several pages is more difficult than making several changes and leaving a talk page message. Rather than trust P64, I would rather you fix things as you did to Dragonflight.—Ryulong (竜龙) 21:50, 5 November 2011 (UTC)
Thanks for the quick response. I will work with P64 and any other editors to improve these articles, we will sort out who does what. --Mirokado (talk) 22:47, 5 November 2011 (UTC)

Numbering

Is there any way to change the numbering so "S-1" can be included on the Astro Switch List? ~Marvelous2011~ ( ★ AlienX2009 ★ ) 02:49, 6 November 2011 (UTC)

No.—Ryulong (竜龙) 02:53, 6 November 2011 (UTC)
Nevermind then, I'll just do it like this:

;Others

 • S-1. Rocket Switch Super-One (ロケットスイッチスーパーワン, Roketto Suitchi Sūpā Wan, Cirlce): The Rocket Switch Super-One allows Kamen Rider Fourze to use two Rocket Modules. At full power, it enables Kamen Rider Fourze to assume Double Rocket States.
You could when the movie comes out and reliable sources come out.—Ryulong (竜龙) 03:02, 6 November 2011 (UTC)
Okay, but instead of using * I might use :. ~Marvelous2011~ ( ★ AlienX2009 ★ ) 01:32, 10 November 2011 (UTC)
We'll figure something out.—Ryulong (竜龙) 02:38, 10 November 2011 (UTC)

The Amazing Race 19, Leg 7

Please, I would like to incorporate this text somewhere:

"The Pit Stop of Leg 7 was noted on air by Keoghan, as it was located on "Livingstonia Beach"; named after British African explorer David Livingstone."

Perhaps under the "Development and filming" section?

Thank you for your time – Jwkozak91 (talk) 17:54, 7 November 2011 (UTC)

It's useless trivia.—Ryulong (竜龙) 19:38, 7 November 2011 (UTC)

Talkback

If I offended you or made you uncomfortable, I apologize. I hope we are not enemies. That's the last thing I want. —cyberpower (Talk to Me)(Contributions) 00:41, 10 November 2011 (UTC)

I am just having bad memories of another person who used to be on this site. Just leave your questions to article content and formatting.—Ryulong (竜龙) 02:40, 10 November 2011 (UTC)
I am sorry to hear that. I won't bring this up anymore.—cyberpower (Talk to Me)(Contributions) 06:13, 10 November 2011 (UTC)
BTW, there's this IP hopping vandal that's been disrupting the Pokemon pages for the past two days. Perhaps you can help me and the admins out with that.—cyberpower (Talk to Me)(Contributions) 06:16, 10 November 2011 (UTC)
It is very unlikely that it is the same person unless the IPs are all in the same country.—Ryulong (竜龙) 08:10, 10 November 2011 (UTC)
They all begin with 141 and as soon as one is blocked, another one makes its appearance. I find that unlikely that it's numerous people. This has been going one for the past two. The admins and the checkusers also claim that a range block would cause collateral damage.—cyberpower (Talk to Me)(Contributions) 11:07, 10 November 2011 (UTC)
They are right.—Ryulong (竜龙) 19:24, 10 November 2011 (UTC)

Why

[1] - 'coz you'd think / hope it was done with, as far as ANI was concerned.  Chzz  ►  09:59, 10 November 2011 (UTC)

Well, it didn't appear to be considering Wolfowitz's comment at the time.—Ryulong (竜龙) 19:24, 10 November 2011 (UTC)
Yes; I take your point, and I do not mind that you changed it back. I only responded here because I noticed you asked 'Why'. もんだいない。 Cheers,  Chzz  ►  00:43, 11 November 2011 (UTC)

Airport Stopovers

What exactly is the policy we're using for airport transfers in TAR? It seems recently we've been including any airports that teams stop in, such as London in the most recent leg in TAR19. But other times we list nothing, especially in older seasons. And besides, these airport layovers are not part of the race route. Teams are not (usually) instructed to fly to Copenhagen via this place or that place. I don't think most of these are really necessary. Occasionally, they should be included, such as when they stop over in Kenya in Season 5, or when they stop in Moscow in Season 14, but a lot of these are just extraeneous information. 174.1.48.24 (talk) 04:21, 15 November 2011 (UTC)

Put them on older seasons.—Ryulong (竜龙) 04:26, 15 November 2011 (UTC)
But these are not part of the race route. 174.1.48.24 (talk) 08:12, 17 November 2011 (UTC)
Fair enough.—Ryulong (竜龙) 08:32, 17 November 2011 (UTC)

Yourname

Are you saying I'm glorifying User:Yourname on WP:AN?--1966batfan (talk) 21:59, 15 November 2011 (UTC)

By giving him a permanent page, you would be.—Ryulong (竜龙) 22:00, 15 November 2011 (UTC)
You really think so? Look at the section on ANI titled Yourname again and you'll see why Yourname needs an LTA report.--1966batfan (talk) 22:06, 15 November 2011 (UTC)
LTA reports are archaic leftovers of a time before WP:RBI.—Ryulong (竜龙) 22:07, 15 November 2011 (UTC)
This editor is a sockpuppeteer who's IPs are part of a botnet and leaves suicide threats on different editor's talk pages and their own as well. It is responsible for the protection of a number of pages. Should this be ignored?--1966batfan (talk) 22:16, 15 November 2011 (UTC)
It should be reverted, blocked, and then ignored.—Ryulong (竜龙) 22:17, 15 November 2011 (UTC)
The process above occurred, but the editor continued to engage in the same activity after each block.--1966batfan (talk) 22:19, 15 November 2011 (UTC)
Long term abuse reports are only for sneaky instances of vandalism. If this guy is so blatant, the SPI report archives should be enough. Formally banning editors that have defacto bans are unnecessary, as is setting up a shrine for how much they have annoyed the project. Just let it go, and this twat will lose his interest.—Ryulong (竜龙) 22:22, 15 November 2011 (UTC)
LTA is like a place for repeat offenders, as most have a MO that is consistent. This user's MO is the suicide threat on talk pages.--1966batfan (talk) 22:27, 15 November 2011 (UTC)
Just ignore him and do not follow through. End of discussion.—Ryulong (竜龙) 22:28, 15 November 2011 (UTC)
There is talk of a global ban of Yourname on ANI. Many editors support a standard ban, including myself. Do you think someone who people think about banning globally should not have a LTA page?--1966batfan (talk) 22:34, 15 November 2011 (UTC)
Only if it is absolutely necessary to prevent further incidents. Otherwise, DFTT, No shrines for vandals, WP:DENY.  Chzz  ►  22:55, 15 November 2011 (UTC)
Thank you Chzz.—Ryulong (竜龙) 23:04, 15 November 2011 (UTC)

ALBUMCAPS

I have brought the ALBUMCAPS discussion up on the administrators' noticeboard for incidents. I have posted there so that this discussion can end and all parties involved can move on with their lives. You can feel free to post there, as long as the frivolous argument in itself of capitals and lowercases doesn't continue. Thank you. Backtable Speak to meconcerning my deeds. 01:45, 16 November 2011 (UTC)

I did not think that this required intervention by the greater ANI reading community, but it seems you want me to disengage. Have fun with that.—Ryulong (竜龙) 02:00, 16 November 2011 (UTC)

Kami trio special

I know it's common sense but it is also common sense that if Purrloin episode is airing on December 3 then the next episode will be on Dec 10 and the next one on Dec 17 but that would be just flabbergasting speculation. We've been following the official source since... Always. Also, how do we possibly know that the part will be airing on December 8? It can easily be December 15. No official source or a magazine scan has revealed any info on the next part. So, best choice would be to wait rather than jumping the gun. It would be nice if you take it under your consideration before undoing an edit. Thanks, have a nice day. ♫♪AdyNiz♪♫ 03:41, 16 November 2011 (UTC)

Well, you are right that the airdate is not known. But it is clear the next episode will be the part 2.—Ryulong (竜龙) 03:48, 16 November 2011 (UTC)

Super Tatoba

Should Super Tatoba Combo be added in the article yet? Since its already been shown in the previews and such. ~Marvelous2011~ ( ★ AlienX2009 ★ ) 04:21, 18 November 2011 (UTC)

Needs a source.—Ryulong (竜龙) 04:27, 18 November 2011 (UTC)

Long term vandal who posts fake TV game show results

Hey Ryulong, on AIV you mention 2 IP's, 220.255.1.26 and 220.255.1.60, and the range 220.255.0.0/22. Both IP's you mention are in the much smaller 220.255.1.0/26. Are there any others? Martijn Hoekstra (talk) 09:17, 20 November 2011 (UTC)

Several have hit The Amazing Race 19. Just check the history and search for 220.255. and you should find them.—Ryulong (竜龙) 09:45, 20 November 2011 (UTC)

Galaxy King

When cretain publications are released, could the Super Galaxy King be added to the Movie-exclusive Riders section? As he has traits of a Rider using an Astro Switch and Core Medals as well as a Driver. ~Marvelous2011~ ( ★ AlienX2009 ★ ) 15:52, 25 November 2011 (UTC)

If he doesn't have "Kamen Rider" in his name, then he isn't a movie-exclusive Rider, is he? Also, I don't see him mentioned in any such publication, so that's a double negatory.—Ryulong (竜龙) 19:39, 25 November 2011 (UTC)
The tv-kun isnt released yet. Only scans were shown. ~Marvelous2011~ ( ★ AlienX2009 ★ ) 19:42, 25 November 2011 (UTC)

No mention of him being a Kamen Rider, so he is not a movie exclusive one.—Ryulong (竜龙) 19:50, 25 November 2011 (UTC)
I know, but he uss a Driver as well as a Astro Switch and Core Medals. ~Marvelous2011~ ( ★ AlienX2009 ★ ) 19:55, 25 November 2011 (UTC)
Doesn't matter. We'll add him to one of the character lists in December.—Ryulong (竜龙) 20:15, 25 November 2011 (UTC)

Banning

Ryulong, your closing comment here [3] is not in accordance with the policy at WP:BAN. That policy makes a clear distinction between a block and a ban. Ban proposals are not a waste of the community's time (particularly when people are participating in them) and I believe it's well out of your privilege to make that kind of determination. The ban process is necessary, as people who are "considered banned because nobody is willing to unblock them" can come back at any time, request unblock, and there will always be pedants who will support it because they're "not really banned" or were "banned out of process". Will you consider amending your closing statement and please refrain from misinterpreting WP:BAN? Night Ranger (talk) 21:10, 25 November 2011 (UTC)

Sure. They can come back any time. But if they have not, then why do we have to go through the bureaucracy?—Ryulong (竜龙) 21:31, 25 November 2011 (UTC)
Also, no one has opposed the ban proposal, so I, as an uninvolved editor (for the most part) have closed it accordingly. And I am not going to refactor my statement.—Ryulong (竜龙) 21:32, 25 November 2011 (UTC)
I agree with Night Ranger. Processing a formal ban request for editors who are de-facto banned only takes up a trivial amount of admins' time and is a good insurance against drama - particularly claims that admins have over-stepped their authority.. It also (hopefully) sends a much stronger message to the editor than whack a mole-type blocks do. Nick-D (talk) 23:12, 25 November 2011 (UTC)
Also, as you were neither uninolved in that discussion nor an admin, you should not have closed it. Please see WP:CBAN which specifies that discussions about community bans on WP:AN be closed by "an uninvolved administrator". Nick-D (talk) 23:16, 25 November 2011 (UTC)
I do not think that my statement of "Why the hell are you discussing this? Just tag him as 'banned' and be done with it" counts as involvement, but fine. Let the discussion go the exact way it was going.—Ryulong (竜龙) 23:19, 25 November 2011 (UTC)

I did not mean it to be. The article is what it says, and the original poster is effectively complaining about it's content being what it is.—Ryulong (竜龙) 02:12, 27 November 2011 (UTC)

YUI

Is there a clause in any MOS that states if there are no sources in the original language, than sources given by other languages are unreliable? The edits happening on YUI (singer) (and I'm sure, on other articles as well) are getting stupid now, with Kauffner stubbornly citing sources in English, German and French, but with nada in Japanese sources. At least to me, it makes perfect sense that if there aren't any solid sources in the original language, there shouldn't be any sources in other languages, and if there are such sources, they are obviously incorrect or unreliable. Cooldra01 (talk) 14:18, 30 November 2011 (UTC)

I haven't been keeping watch on YUI, as much as I have been working on keeping him from fucking up MISIA. I'll take a look at it once I'm done with my watchlist.—Ryulong (竜龙) 20:03, 30 November 2011 (UTC)
