If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on User:SCDW Marketing/sandbox, requesting that it be deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under two or more of the criteria for speedy deletion, by which pages can be deleted at any time, without discussion. If the page meets any of these strictly-defined criteria, then it may soon be deleted by an administrator. The reasons it has been tagged are:

If the external website or image belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use the text or image — which means allowing other people to use it for any reason — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. The same holds if you are not the owner but have their permission. If you are not the owner and do not have permission, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission for how you may obtain it. You might want to look at Wikipedia's copyright policy for more details, or ask a question here.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Blocked[edit]

Your account has been blocked indefinitely from editing because of the following problems: the account has been used for advertising or promotion, which is contrary to the purpose of Wikipedia, and your username indicates that the account represents a business or other organisation or group or a web site, which is against the username policy.

You may request a change of name and unblock if you intend to make useful contributions other than promoting your business or organization. To do this, first search Special:CentralAuth for available usernames that comply with the username policy. Once you have found an acceptable username, post the text {{unblock-spamun|Your proposed new username|Your reason here}} at the bottom of your talk page. Replace the text "Your proposed new username" with your new username and replace the text "Your reason here" with your reasons to be unblocked. In your reasons, you must:

  • Disclose any compensation you may receive for your contributions in accordance with the Wikipedia:Paid-contribution disclosure requirement.
  • Convince us that you understand the reason for your block and that you will not repeat the kind of edits for which you were blocked.
  • Describe in general terms the contributions that you intend to make if you are unblocked.
Appeals: If, after reviewing the guide to appealing blocks you believe this block was made in error, you may appeal it by adding the text {{unblock|Your reason here}} at the bottom of your talk page. Replace the text "Your reason here" with the reasons you believe the block was an error, and publish the page. ~Anachronist (talk) 02:26, 6 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]

I need to clarify a point about copyright violation. The text you wrote was 80% copied verbatim from https://www.scdw.online/ourefforts - and it doesn't matter if you own that site or not, it doesn't matter if you have the copyright. All that matters is that Wikipedia doesn't have permission to publish that material, and permission cannot be granted by some random user account claiming to own the copyright. Unless the site explicitly says the content is public domain or licensed under an acceptable free license, then permission must be granted via proper legal channels; for example see WP:CONSENT. ~Anachronist (talk) 02:26, 6 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]

This user's request to be unblocked to request a change in username has been reviewed by an administrator, who declined the request. Other administrators may also review this block, but should not override the decision without a good reason (see the blocking policy). Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.

Requested username:

Request reason:

Hi I work for Save the Children of the Developing World, I do not receive any compensation for my work (it is truly voluntary). While I am the marketing director of SCDW, I am trying to get our nonprofit recognized and hope not to promote any of our services. I hope that in working with Wikipedia's editors we can make a page that recognizes our organization without promoting any products.

Decline reason:

You seem to misunderstand the purpose of Wikipedia. It is not here to merely provide recognition to any subject, nor is it a place for organizations, even non-profits, to tell the world about themselves or their good work. Wikipedia summarizes what independent reliable sources with significant coverage have chosen on their own to say about an organization, showing how it meets the special Wikipedia definition of a notable organization. Wikipedia is not interested in what an organization wants to say about itself. Please review the information below. If your only goal here is to edit about your organization, this is the end of the road for your Wikipedia career. If you want to contribute more broadly as an indivdual, general contributor, please tell what topics you will edit about. I am declining your request. 331dot (talk) 01:00, 7 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Wikipedia only includes topics that are notable - that is, of interest to the world at large and over a period of time. We consider evidence from reliable sources that are independent of the topic to gauge this interest.

Companies and organizations must pass these notability criteria to be considered worthy of inclusion. Lacking significant coverage from multiple reliable, third-party sources means the organization isn't notable enough for inclusion.

Simply wanting to tell the world about your organization's existence is still promotion, whether or not you believe it to be. However, Wikipedia is not interested in what an organization wants to say about itself. We also don't promote or publicize worthy causes, no matter how good the work they do is.

Please review Wikipedia's plain and simple conflict of interest guidelines to learn why we highly discourage people involved with an organization from writing about it.

  • You are not paid for your work as Marketing Director? 331dot (talk) 21:19, 6 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Nope, none of our directors or employees receive compensation. All our work is truly voluntary, and all funds received or produced go towards our efforts. SCDW Marketing (talk) 00:54, 7 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]
