I had little time for the PC-AFM article today. First comments. The structure and style of wikipedia (WP) articles differs from scientific writing, and it took me some time to learn that. The abstract should be removed - basically converted to the WP:LEAD - a summary of the article which would be accessible to most people. Numbering figures and equations is to be avoided - things will be added and reshuffled, breaking the numbering. Minor issue, logically, it should be abbreviated as PCAFM, not pc-AFM. If there is no vast dominance of the pc-AFM usage, I would change this. Regards. Materialscientist (talk) 13:41, 8 May 2011 (UTC)

Some images from the PCAFM article have been deleted from Commons, and I would prepare for further deletions. I am not an administrator on Commons and can't see what exactly was wrong (though we can ask the terminator, he is from en.wiki). I saw in some other images that they are taken from a journal, meaning they are copyrighted, and could be deleted too. There are several ways around. One is modify the images and upload them as your own original work, maybe better on this en.wiki than on Commons (then we can see more). There is some odd compound in the article - cadmium indium - probably a typo. Materialscientist (talk) 08:16, 9 May 2011 (UTC)

The images that were deleted were my own images I created. Yes I had modified them from images I have seen, but they were not exactly the same. All of the images which are copyrighted, we have obtained permission from the publisher for the re-use and have sent this to the permissions e-mail account. I will try the pictures that I made back. This procedure should be Ok. You've marked two images as "Reproduction of this image must be granted by Wiley-VCH Verlag GmbH & Co.", but the image files say they are licensed from Nano Lett (?), and give no detail how they were licensed. Wherever an email with permission has been sent to Wikimedia Foundation, add {{OTRS pending}} (remove nowiki tags) to the image file (not to image captions). The person who will verify the confirmation will change the tag and add a "Wikimedia license No" (OTRS email reference No). Images which are significantly different from the published ones are better to license as "own work", e.g. as {{self|cc-by-sa-3.0|GFDL}}. Regards. Materialscientist (talk) 23:40, 9 May 2011 (UTC)

I am not sure who marked those two images "Reproduction of this image must be granted by Wiley-VCH Verlag GmbH & Co." since they came directly from the journal which is associated with the citation. I just went and viewed those images on the website, ACS Nano and thus controlled by The American Chemical Society, which we have obtained licensing for. Well, the tagging was by your account [1], but more important is not who, but to get it right. I think the license numbers you mention are given by the ACS. If so, there is no use mentioning them on wikipedia/Commons. Important is to email permission to Wikimedia and tag the images as {{OTRS pending}} - this will stop from deleting them (ACS numbers will not). After OTRS review, Wikimedia will give its own "license" numbers to these images. Materialscientist (talk) 04:54, 10 May 2011 (UTC)
