License tagging for Image:Dov Gazit with baby lion 1943.bmp.jpg[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Dov Gazit with baby lion 1943.bmp.jpg. Wikipedia gets thousands of images uploaded every day, and in order to verify that the images can be legally used on Wikipedia, the source and copyright status must be indicated. Images need to have an image tag applied to the image description page indicating the copyright status of the image. This uniform and easy-to-understand method of indicating the license status allows potential re-users of the images to know what they are allowed to do with the images.

For more information on using images, see the following pages:

WikiProject Israel[edit]

Hello! I have noticed some of your nice Israel-related contributions. I have listed the new articles you created in the Project's new articles page. As I sometimes miss new articles, please consider posting them yourself, and inform other interested editors. Derwig 17:58, 18 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Arad, Israel[edit]

Thanks for making edits to the Arad, Israel article. However, you have misquoted the Jewish Agency source. It does not say that Arad was founded in 1956. That information is related to Tamar, another location in the Negev desert. -- Ynhockey (Talk) 19:44, 24 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

FYI, you haven't been citing sources properly in terms of markup, I have fixed the problems in Arad, Israel so far. Please see WP:CIT for more information. -- Ynhockey (Talk) 13:30, 27 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Borys vs Borislav[edit]

In the matter of fact Borys (or better Boris) etymologically can be derivative of Borislav (there are other versions of its origin) but definitely it is not "short form variation" of Borislav. In the same time name Boris itself has a short form variation (diminutive) which is Borya. References: 1, 2, 3, see also 4...

Fair use rationale for Image:Oketz pin.jpg[edit]

Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:Oketz pin.jpg. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia constitutes fair use. Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. NOTE: once you correct this, please remove the tag from the image's page. Arad, Israel #2[edit]

Just wondering, where did you get Arad's co-ordinates? They were completely incorrect, and I'm concerned that there are other such mistakes in Israel-related articles, in which case I'd like to correct them.

Secondly, please be careful to include the most exact population figure available (e.g. 23,300) and not a rounded one (e.g. 23,000).

Replaceable fair use Image:Eyal Aerial View.jpg[edit]

Replaceable fair use
Replaceable fair use

Thanks for uploading Image:Eyal Aerial View.jpg. I noticed the 'image' page specifies that the image is being used under fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first fair use criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed image could reasonably be found or created that provides substantially the same information. If you believe this image is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the image description page and edit it to add {{di-replaceable fair use disputed}}, without deleting the original Replaceable fair use template.
  2. On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace the fair use image by finding a freely licensed image of its subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or a similar) image under a free license, or by taking a picture of it yourself.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our fair use criteria. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that even if you follow steps 1 and 2 above, fair use images which could be replaced by free-licensed alternatives will be deleted 2 days after this notification (7 days if not used in an article), per our Fair Use policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. VegitaU 15:17, 15 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Infobox Kibbutz[edit]

I would bring up the issue on Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Israel rather than the template's talk page - very few people are likely to read it there. I don't mind it being used for moshavim too, but I don't think any additions are particularly needed. Do Moshavim have affiliations (i.e. an equivalent of the Kibbutz Movement)? If not, it might be a good idea to make the affiliation line disappear if nothing is input. пﮟოьεԻ 57 08:16, 26 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Disputed fair use rationale for Image:Aharon Shulov book cover.JPG[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Aharon Shulov book cover.JPG. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content carefully, then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies for fair use. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted within a couple of days according to our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot 19:36, 29 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Re: WP is not a random collection of information - there was nothing randon about the references, nor the images. If you had refered to the item, 'Wikipedia is not a mirror or a repository of links, images, or media files', I might better understand your reasoning. As it stands, my logic for adding the stamps was to illustrate that the breed is recognized around the world, and conforms to a certain type and look. And re the references, I agree that some of the items were not as pertinent as others, but my question is: How did you determine which publications are more pertinent than the other? It seems that some of the removal was purely random - if you have a means of determining (perhaps you have more than my 15 years of experience with the breed, or have reviewed more dog publications?), please pass the insight on to me, so I do not make the same mistake again. — Preceding unsigned comment added by SZAgassi (talkcontribs)

By my reasoning, an unnecessarily large collection of images of Airedale terriers constitutes a random collection of images. You are also correct that 'Wikipedia is not a mirror' applies. My filter to remove excess images was the crudest possible: simple reversion. If you want to remove some images and add others, please discuss this on Talk:Airedale terrier. Unreferenced BLPs[edit]

Hello SZAgassi! Thank you for your contributions. I am a bot alerting you that 1 of the articles that you created is tagged as an Unreferenced Biography of a Living Person. The biographies of living persons policy requires that all personal or potentially controversial information be sourced. In addition, to ensure verifiability, all biographies should be based on reliable sources. If you were to bring this article up to standards, it would greatly help us with the current 938 article backlog. Once the article is adequately referenced, please remove the {{unreferencedBLP}} tag. Here is the article:

File source problem with File:Yanai Samek 2nd from right on kibbutz.JPG[edit]

Thank you for uploading File:Yanai Samek 2nd from right on kibbutz.JPG. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, please add a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a brief restatement of that website's terms of use of its content. However, if the copyright holder is a party unaffiliated from the website's publisher, that copyright should also be acknowledged.

If you have uploaded other files, consider verifying that you have specified sources for those files as well. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged per Wikipedia's criteria for speedy deletion, F4. If the image is copyrighted and non-free, the image will be deleted 48 hours after 01:18, 10 October 2010 (UTC) per speedy deletion criterion F7. If you have any questions or are in need of assistance please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Magog the Ogre (talk) 01:18, 10 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

A tag has been placed on File:Neve Ur from Kochav HaYarden photo by Martin Sampson 2005.JPG requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section F9 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the image appears to be a blatant copyright infringement. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted images or text borrowed from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.

If you think that the page was nominated in error, contest the nomination by clicking on the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion" in the speedy deletion tag. Doing so will take you to the talk page where you can explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. You can also visit the page's talk page directly to give your reasons, but be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but do not hesitate to add information that is consistent with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. Asian 10,000 Challenge invite[edit]

Hi. The Wikipedia:WikiProject Asia/The 10,000 Challenge has recently started, based on the UK/Ireland Wikipedia:The 10,000 Challenge and Wikipedia:WikiProject Africa/The 10,000 Challenge. The idea is not to record every minor edit, but to create a momentum to motivate editors to produce good content improvements and creations and inspire people to work on more countries than they might otherwise work on. There's also the possibility of establishing smaller country or regional challenges for places like South East Asia, Japan/China or India etc, much like Wikipedia:The 1000 Challenge (Nordic). For this to really work we need diversity and exciting content and editors from a broad range of countries regularly contributing. At some stage we hope to run some contests to benefit Asian content, a destubathon perhaps, aimed at reducing the stub count would be a good place to start, based on the current Wikipedia:WikiProject Africa/The Africa Destubathon which has produced near 200 articles in just three days. If you would like to see this happening for Asia, and see potential in this attracting more interest and editors for the country/countries you work on please sign up and being contributing to the challenge! This is a way we can target every country of Asia, and steadily vastly improve the encyclopedia. We need numbers to make this work so consider signing up as a participant! Thank you. --Ser Amantio di NicolaoChe dicono a Signa?Lo dicono a Signa. 02:29, 21 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]

There's a new bonus prize of $200 worth of books of your choice to win for creating the most new women biographies between 0:00 on the 26th and 23:59 on 30th November. If you've been contributing to the contest, thank you for your support, we've produced over 2000 articles. If you haven't contributed yet, we would appreciate you taking the time to add entries to our articles achievements list by the end of the month. Thank you, and if participating, good luck with the finale!

Wikipedia Wars and the Israel-Palestine conflict...please fill out my survey?[edit]

Hello :) I am writing my MA dissertation on Wikipedia Wars and the Israel-Palestine conflict, and I noticed that you have contributed to those pages. My dissertation will look at the process of collaborative knowledge production on the Israel-Palestine conflict, and the effect it has on bias in the articles. This will involve understanding the profiles and motivations of editors, contention/controversy and dispute resolution in the talk pages, and bias in the final article.

For more information, you can check out my meta-wiki research page or my user page, where I will be posting my findings when I am done.

I would greatly appreciate if you could take 5 minutes to fill out this quick survey before 8 August 2021.

Participation in this survey is entirely voluntary and anonymous. There are no foreseeable risks nor benefits to you associated with this project.

Thanks so much,

Sarah Sanbar
