Hello Saffario. The nature of your edits gives the impression you have an undisclosed financial stake in promoting a topic, but you have not complied with Wikipedia's mandatory paid editing disclosure requirements. Paid advocacy is a category of conflict of interest (COI) editing that involves being compensated by a person, group, company or organization to use Wikipedia to promote their interests. Undisclosed paid advocacy is prohibited by our policies on neutral point of view and what Wikipedia is not, and is an especially serious type of COI; the Wikimedia Foundation regards it as a "black hat" practice akin to black-hat search-engine optimization.

Paid advocates are very strongly discouraged from direct article editing, and should instead propose changes on the talk page of the article in question if an article exists. If the article does not exist, paid advocates are extremely strongly discouraged from attempting to write an article at all. At best, any proposed article creation should be submitted through the articles for creation process, rather than directly.

Regardless, if you are receiving or expect to receive compensation for your edits, broadly construed, you are required by the Wikimedia Terms of Use to disclose your employer, client and affiliation. You can post such a mandatory disclosure to your user page at User:Saffario. The template {{Paid}} can be used for this purpose – e.g. in the form: {{paid|user=Saffario|employer=InsertName|client=InsertName}}. If I am mistaken – you are not being directly or indirectly compensated for your edits – please state that in response to this message. Otherwise, please provide the required disclosure. In either case, do not edit further until you answer this message. Theroadislong (talk) 08:08, 16 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Threadsong, thanks for this. I can confirm that I am not being paid or compensated directly or indirectly from the organisation. Earth Beat Aotearoa relies on a large number of volunteers for its operation. I am one volunteer who has taken up the task of entering the Wiki page for this event out of my own volition. I strongly beleive the festival is of national and international importance given the caliber of talent it is associated with and the large number of people that come in contact with it. My intention is simply to create an objective page where readers can learn more about the festival, its origins and its affiliation. Where I am failing at this, I appreciate your help in support in improving the page so that it can be published. I worked industriously over the last 6 months to improve upon the article based on the feedback provided by the last reviewer Pythoncoder. I am therefore surprised that it is still failing to meet the required criteria. Please advise accordingly.

Kind regards Saffario (talk) 01:29, 18 May 2021 (UTC) Saffario (talk) 21:26, 23 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]

@Saffario: Do you receive anything at all from Earth Beat? Free tickets or a festival pass? If so we classify that as compensation and you need to declare your paid editing status. Editors with a strong connection to the subject are rarely the ideal editors for a subject; those with no connection are usually the best. Please see the paid editing directions above. --- Possibly (talk) 21:35, 23 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]

@Possibly: Thanks for clarifying. I've been living in the UK for the last 5 years. I was at the first Earth Beat Festival in 2015 and then relocated overseas, so I haven't been fortunate enough to receive free passes, compensation etc. I had a life-changing experience at the festival and have been writing about this in various publications in the UK. It felt natural to open a Wiki page for it given how beneficial Wikipedia has been in my own journey and how much time I spend on the platform. Saffario (talk) 09:24, 25 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]
