You ask for citations that do not exist for replication! Where do I find those for my childhood? How can I give you a cite for my education? should I post my diploma or enrollments papers? On my career do I have to post every individual magazine edition of where and how my images appeared. How could you verify it to be true? You can not.

All content in a biography of a living person must be cited to a reliable source independent of Mr Vasapolli (which would be you, it seems, but this is not verified). If you can't find a published source for it, it can't go in the article until a source shows up. Either way, you can't cite your own original research. I have added many citations. Those that I can not find at this time, I have ask those that do have the resources to find me a link or a document to refer to. When they can comply I will add those. As far as some other the others they will have to wait for now until I can someone to include them in an article or biography which is not very hard to do. On those section that now have references can you please remove the citation warnings please and let me know in exact terms which ones are lacking.

I can find many articles on Wiki that lack proper cites including Mr. Hoary's. Do I have to waste my time in pointing out his or others deficiencies?

Yes, it's very likely that some of the material I've added to articles, perhaps even a lot of it, is poorly "sourced". I'd like to think that I did this before I realized the importance of "sourcing"; but perhaps I didn't, and either way I'm open to criticism. Hoary, it's about my legacy and to inform people interested in me to get information about me. Listen, I don't have time to scrutinize other people's work or entries. If you would have at least Google me you would have found out who I am and what other people have wrote about me. Some links about me are no longer available on the internet since websites are limited in existence. Remember the internet as it is today only started in 1996 and some website have been updated and old information has been deleted. I am trying to get those organizations to post past pages especially museums, but they are limited to their financial resources. Other businesses are no longer in existence. Right now my resources are limited because I am working on the east coast of the USA and my tearsheets of my work are in Montana.

I just looked at a friends article, Tom McGuane, and it too is full of uncited information posted my a source that is close to Tom. You have to start somewhere. I like to have someone else write but I would have to pay them. Times are tough so I can't.

Just give this article time to develop and please don't delete anything in the meantime.

Well, that's refreshingly candid.

Either well or badly, I've written up a number of photographers and I've never been paid anything for it. I don't know your work, but if it's published then it will have its admirers and I'd have thought that eventually they'd produce an article. The best thing to do is to hang back and, if an article does emerge, make comments on the talk page where the writers get things wrong. (See for example the occasional contributions of User:Wageless -- ie Nicholson Baker -- to Talk:Nicholson Baker.) Of course the whole process can be protracted and the great majority of what articles Wikipedia does have on photographers are dreadful. But you're young yet; you can sit it out.

The Thomas McGuane article is indeed awful. What's particularly strange is the author's love of fancy words ("ubiquitous", "matrilineal" etc), used in odd ways. The prose is hardly changed since this edit of five years ago. I'm not so keen to wade into that article but if you'd like to start on clearing it up then I'll help you.

Look, your article is an autobiography. That being so, anyone would be justified in attaching a big, ugly "autobiography" warning flag to the top. In effect, this tells any would-be reader: "Don't believe any of this; it's just an ad", thereby effectively undoing all your work. The way to avoid this is to err on the side of modesty and to delete any mention that you can't immediately back up of any accomplishment. When you get back to Montana, if you find the independent evidence for an assertion you can then readd that assertion with that evidence.

This "sourcing" rigmarole is very tiresome, and nobody expects that you'll get the details right from the start. But, contrary to appearances, Gwen (above), me and others hereabouts aren't ogres and will work with, rather than against, somebody who's launched an autobiography (tsk tsk!) but is then keen to do the right thing. -- Hoary (talk) 10:24, 3 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]
