Stubs[edit]

Hello,

Thank you for your stub submission. You may wish to note that it is preferable to use a stub template from Wikipedia:WikiProject Stub sorting/Stub types instead of using simply {{stub}}, if you can.

Thanks! For computing-related articles, you can use {{Compu-stub}} or pick a more specific category from the stub category list. Thanks! Woodshed 04:39, 8 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Okay, I will only use the generic stub template in the most dire of emergencies from now on. Salad Days 06:08, 12 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Edit summaries[edit]

When editing an article on Wikipedia there is a small field labeled "Edit summary" under the main edit-box. It looks like this:

Edit summary text box

The text written here will appear on the Recent changes page, in the page revision history, on the diff page, and in the watchlists of users who are watching that article. See m:Help:Edit summary for full information on this feature.

Filling in the edit summary field greatly helps your fellow contributors in understanding what you changed, so please always fill in the edit summary field, especially for big edits or when you are making subtle but important changes, like changing dates or numbers. Thank you. Metros232 16:12, 8 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I will try to make a habit of doing so. Thanks for the suggestion. Salad Days 06:08, 12 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

School-stubs[edit]

Hi! Thanks for sorting schools into {{school-stub}}. I just wanted to let you know that all US states and Canadian provinces have their own stub template along the format of x-school-stub (exception: Georgia in the US is GeorgiaUS-school-stub). Could you use these in the future where relevant? Thanks! Aelfthrytha 03:12, 22 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I see! Thanks for the suggestion. Salad Days 03:20, 22 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

New Video Game Article[edit]

Hey! I saw that you created a new video game related article- consider joining the Computer and Video Games WikiProject! I have added your article to the list of new articles, and attributed it to you. --PresN 19:20, 23 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for the link! I'll be sure to read your documentation! Salad Days 19:24, 23 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Wikify tag[edit]

Hello!

I work on the Wikify project and I've noticed you putting the wikify tag on tons of articles. (You're certainly keeping us busy!) I wondered if I could ask you a favour? There is a bot which usually changes {{Wikfy}} to {{wikify-date|September 2006}}, but it doesn't seem to be working at the moment. Would you mind adding the date specific tag from the begining for the time being? It would make it a bit easier for us to keep track of where we are! Thank you :)

-Ladybirdintheuk 08:39, 1 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Sure, no problem! Salad Days 17:27, 1 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Prod reason[edit]

I noticed the prod reason you gave for an article. Even if the article is indeed crap, it would be better if you gave a more specific reason. See, calling an article crap is not very civil. Just keep this in mind. —this is messedrocker (talk) 05:58, 2 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

PROD of an article[edit]

Hello! You prodded this article with the reason of "LOL". Thanks for helping to rid Wikipedia of junk, but I have two suggestions if you would like to continue prodding deletion-worthy articles:

Thanks again and have a good day. Sandstein 07:02, 2 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I see. I appear to have been under the mistaken impression that the "prodding" system was somehow automatic, but my entries appear to be under scrutiny. I will have to make my comments less frivolous from now on, it seems. Salad Days 07:04, 2 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hey, I noticed you nominated this for IfD, but you didn't put the actual nomination on the IfD page. If you want this deleted, you should put it on the page so the deletion can be discussed. Thanks, --Mr. Lefty Talk to me! 01:25, 3 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Jeez edits[edit]

Re: this edit and this edit, we don't generally move things to Wiktionary when they're already in Wiktionary. —Wknight94 (talk) 02:29, 6 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I see. The prod reason of "Dictdef." made that unclear. Sorry about that. Salad Days 03:04, 6 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]
It's implied that the word is already in Wiktionary since that's the only reason to bring dictionary definitions to WP:PROD in the first place. Would you mind re-adding the prod to those two articles? It's frowned on for the original prodder to re-prod after it's been removed. Otherwise, I need to bother people at AFD. Thanks. —Wknight94 (talk) 03:12, 6 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Okay. Salad Days 03:13, 6 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Template:Useless[edit]

Hi Salad Days, I am puzzled... why did you create a redirect from Template:Useless to Template:Reqphoto ? Is does not seem to have any use, and I am thinking of listing it for deletion, but maybe I missed someting ? Schutz 10:24, 6 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

It has the use of any template redirect, it's an alternative. Salad Days 14:21, 6 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]
But why do you need the alternative, especially with a name that is clearly not linked to the redirected template ? Barring any real use, I'll probably list the redirect for deletion. Schutz 15:37, 6 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

link to persian[edit]

Hello, when you want to link to the article about something Persian, please do not link to Persian, as that is a disambiguation page (which nothing should be linked to). Instead link to the one of the options found on that page such as Persian people, Persian language, or Iran, by writing out [[Persian language|Persian]] or [[Iran|Persian]]. Regards, Jeff3000 03:45, 12 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I have no idea what article you're talking about, but thanks for the suggestion. I didn't realize disambiguation pages had such a bizzare rule attached to them. I guess I will have to be more careful when trying to wikify things, which is somewhat discouraging. Salad Days 05:20, 12 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Bascially he means to check pages that could easily mean more then one thing before you link to them. If they are disambig pages, pick the one that you meant to link to originally. Anyway, it's not required and you wont get blocked for missing one or two links or forgetting. 68.39.174.238 00:04, 2 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Categories[edit]

You shouldn't be removing the {{uncategorized}} tag from articles just because you've added a stub category. They don't really count. —Xezbeth 17:12, 12 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Whoops, sorry about that. Salad Days 17:13, 12 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Question[edit]

Was there a reason for adding "Fraud" to Image:Profgeorge.jpg? I'll admit the (User) page it's on is nonsense, but I'm not sure I see the reason for updating the image like that. 68.39.174.238

I was hoping someone would notice and suggest it for deletion. Also, it amused me. Salad Days 02:21, 2 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

UAV specs tables templates[edit]

The tables are gorgeous...I now developing them took a lot of time and effort on your part, and it's very much appreciated! To show my thanks, I hereby award you the Wikipedia:WikiProject Aircraft version of a barnstar, the Wikiwings. Wear them proudly, you've earned them.

Wikiwings 2.0
Wikiwings 2.0

Wikiwings are the official award of WikiProject Aircraft. Styled after military flight wings, they are awarded to anyone who makes extensive, high-quality, or generally valued contributions to the area of aviation on Wikipedia. They can be awarded by anyone, to anyone, in a barnstar-like fashion.

The wikiwings award is modelled after Rlandmann's wikiwings award, and were officially adopted by WikiProject Aircraft on October 29, 2005.

Akradecki 03:16, 2 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Awesome, thank you! Salad Days 03:24, 2 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Wikification template[edit]

As someone who updates and works on the wikification progress template, what do you think of this recent trend of updating it every 5 minutes when 1 article is done? I am finding it particularly bothersome and unproductive as it doesn't allow us to see the big picture (as in, over the last 24 hours June is down 39, July down 5, etc. for a total of -10). Do you have any thoughts on these updates? Metros232 12:55, 2 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

In my opinion the updating would be best done by a script, or better yet, a hardcoded category-count-constant. In the absence of a technical solution however, we apparently have to rely on whoever enjoys updating it, and I don't want to be the one to piss them off and stop entirely. I agree with your assessment that the current rate is overzealous and unneccessary. Salad Days 20:31, 2 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

World of Warcraft[edit]

Global Hawk info box[edit]

I've copied your box from the history page to RQ-4 Global Hawk. All the text from the history page will eventually be moved, too. Same will happen for the other UAVs on the history page. Just thought you'd like to know...you might want to see about adding one of the Global Hawk images into the box. Akradecki 22:38, 5 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

No problem, all you have to do is add: |image=imagename.jpg to the list of specs. I was thinking about adding a third red bar at the bottom of the infobox to link to Unmanned Aerial Vehicle... what do you think? Salad Days 02:15, 6 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Sounds like something to try! Akradecki 04:59, 6 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]
The link color looks like ass against the BG color. Salad Days 05:14, 6 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Hmmm...I see what you mean by the color. I tried what you said about the image, on the RQ-1 Predator page...cool! Akradecki 05:23, 6 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I re-edited the borders and colors and font sizes on the template to match the "new things that are happening" on the front page of wikipedia. I think it looks pretty good, so I will leave it this way for now. Have I missed converting any? Salad Days 06:09, 6 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Looks good, although I say that with slightly mixed feelings. I personally really liked the red, but the blue definitely looks more like the rest of the WP system. Akradecki 16:33, 6 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I liked the red too, I will play the colorscheme in my sandbox and see if I can find a compromise that doesn't make the link color look aweful. Salad Days 16:47, 6 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

UAV layout opinion sought[edit]

Since you're now involved with how UAV pages look, I'd like to get an opinion on a layout question, on Talk:Unmanned aerial vehicle. Thanks! Akradecki 04:44, 9 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Need help with UAV info box[edit]

Hi, need some help here. I've uploaded an image of the MQ-1 that I'd like to use in the infobox on MQ-1 Predator instead of the existing image. I tried it (here [1] for the historical version before I put it back to pre-experimental status), and while I could get the image to appear in regular text, it wouldn't appear inside the info box. When you have time, would you mind looking at the historical link I just listed and seeing what I did wrong, and then edumacating me? Thanks! Akradecki 01:06, 18 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Use an equals sign, not a colon. An easy mistake to make! Salad Days 02:12, 18 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Duh! Thanks! Akradecki 13:48, 18 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Lorcha[edit]

I removed you prod from the artticle Lorcha since I think that the content is arguably notable. I don't have a strong opinion on whether it should be kept, merged into All in the Same Boat, or even deleted through AfD but didn't feel that the proper course was obvious enough for prod. Eluchil404 09:52, 18 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Okay. Thanks for the notice. Salad Days 12:24, 18 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I've deprodded and moved this odd article to the generic "mobile phone micropayment", since there seems to be enough written about that globally. --Mereda 13:12, 19 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Ah, good solution! Salad Days 16:45, 19 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Ahhh, I was coming here to ask about that...having just reverted it. In all honestly I thought that was added by the original responsible party, "LOL"! Now who WAS purple in the original game...? 68.39.174.238 09:54, 20 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I think it's slot four in multiplayer. It's too bad Ghost was abandoned, perhaps I should dig out my copy of SC and reinstall it... Salad Days 16:24, 20 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Prod removal explanation-Malcolm Stogo[edit]

Unbelievable as it may seem, it appears this guy is quite real. [2] Whether or not he's notable is another question entirely, but that's better resolved through AfD. Seraphimblade 09:21, 21 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

How odd. Thanks for the link. Salad Days 13:38, 21 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Help![edit]

{{helpme}} I believe this gentleman: Lakshman Madurasinghe has uploaded photographs of his degrees[3] and wants them added to his article. I'm not entirely convinced that his personal photohost is a reliable source, and I would appreciate it greatly if someone else could take a look at the article, please. Thanks for your help! Salad Days 15:24, 22 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Tell him editing his own article is against WP:AUTO, and read up WP:NOTNearly Headless Nick {L} 15:46, 22 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Objection[edit]

File:Religions.png
The cover of Salad Days' award-winning book, Religions, volume VIII

With reference to your edit [4] you have suggested that hardcopy" publications which are unverifiable I would like to place my reservations over that. No where in Wikipedia it is given that only Online Sources are Verifiable. I am afraid that you are perpetuating Systemic Bias with such opinions  Doctor Bruno  08:52, 23 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Well, my copy of Religions, volume I[5] says "It is ancient buddhist knowledge that Doctor Bruno is a big stick in the mud." If you want, I'm sure we can ask "Professor" Madurasinghe to fabricate some more book covers and I can pull more quotes out of my ass. Salad Days 21:38, 23 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]
May be you need a book to know about me, but as far as you are concerned, Your words themselves tell me about you. No need for any book. I was my mistake to have interacted with people like you.  Doctor Bruno  02:26, 24 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]
You are of course welcome to your opinion. But you should be aware that you are about to become the embarrassing subject of a Broadway play which I am currently writing. You will be played by Max von Sydow who will have a Ming the Merciless beard, and I am thinking about casting Patrick Stewart to play the role of Salad Days, the tormented, passionate artist and beloved underdog. Salad Days 02:44, 24 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Late Thanks[edit]

You've welcomed me on my talk page when I became a user and I thanked you there. But now (yes, NOW finally >.>;;; ) it's occurred to me to thank you on your talk page. So, thanks for the welcome! :) -WarthogDemon 19:34, 25 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Of course! Good luck in your wiki-ing! Salad Days 21:23, 25 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

A second barnstar[edit]

The Barnstar of Good Humor
A second one for Wikipedia:Featured article candidates/Lakshman Madurasinghe -- made me laugh hard. utcursch

P.S. Feel free to move the barnstar to your user page. I didn't know where to put it on your user page -- it has got too many things. utcursch | talk 13:02, 26 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hey, thank you. I was sort of expecting to get yelled at for that! Salad Days 15:31, 26 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Userboxes[edit]

Hey Salad Days! I came across your page while browsing, and liked three of your userboxes - I ching, magic8ball, and dice - and wondered if I could use/copy them? --Firien § 10:59, 27 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Of course you can! I moved them to their own sections so all you have to do is paste the shortcuts:
{{User:Salad Days/Userboxes/User I Ching}}
{{User:Salad Days/Userboxes/User Magic 8-ball}}
{{User:Salad Days/Userboxes/User 1d20}}

Oh yeah, they won't generate a new random number until the page is edited again, or your force the server to purge the cache. A simple page refresh won't cut it. That's why I made the "purge" userbox when I was working on those. Salad Days 17:04, 27 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

  • Odd... they randomised fine when I had a look, since otherwise I would have assumed they were fixed and they meant something at the time... anyway, thanks for the note on resolution - I've got 1280 on this screen and never thought about it. Resizing down I've found out how ugly that overlap looks, so I'll tweak things around a bit :) --Firien § 08:12, 30 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Yeah, they randomise fine when clicking the "preview" button, and it took me a while to figure out what the hell was going on. Good luck! Salad Days 13:52, 30 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks. --BostonMA talk 21:12, 28 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

You Are Brave![edit]

I noticed that you requested an images for teabagging. I'm not sure I want to see that... :) Prometheus-X303- 23:46, 29 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Considering how many illustrations there are for fairly bizzare sexual positions on Wikipedia, I'd be interested to see what "open-source" image someone could dig up for this! Salad Days 03:37, 30 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Please do not add nonsense to Wikipedia, as you did to Image:Ninjageorge.jpg. It is considered vandalism. If you would like to experiment, use the sandbox. Thank you.

I really would rather not have to defend this piece of junk, but it's properly licensed and used on a user page, where encyclopedic value is not important. I realize you don't care for the image, but just let it go please. howcheng {chat} 17:52, 3 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Okay, I will just let it rot here. Salad Days 20:35, 3 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

AfD Nomination: Liza Wright[edit]

I've nominated the article Liza Wright for deletion under the Articles for deletion process. I am notifying you because of your previous involvement in the editing of this article. I do not feel that Liza Wright satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion and I have explained why in the nomination space (see What Wikipedia is not and Deletion policy). Your opinions on the matter are welcome; please participate in the discussion by adding your comments at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Liza Wright. Don't forget to add four tildes (~~~~) at the end of each of your comments to sign them. You are free to edit the content of Liza Wright during the discussion, but please do not remove the "Articles for Deletion" template (the box at the top). Doing so will not end the discussion. GringoInChile 17:00, 9 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I appreciate the notice. When I marked that page PROD originally however, it had been gutted to just one sentence for some reason. It's been cleaned up quite a bit, but I agree that her notability is still questionable. Salad Days 18:38, 9 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I removed the PROD tag you placed on this article - per the WP:PROD policy, once a prod tag is removed for any reason, it can't be placed back. The next step is to list an article on WP:AFD, which I have done in this case. You had previously prodded the article on October 21, and that tag was removed. If you have any questions let me know. --cholmes75 (chit chat) 04:16, 11 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Whoops! I should check the history of these in the future. Thanks for letting me know. Salad Days 06:23, 11 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I object your proposed deletion to List of Hi Hi Puffy AmiYumi episodes[edit]

Why does that article need to be prodded anyways? It isn't listcruft, it's a list of episodes in a television show (I've added a lead to the list, so readers would know that this is a list of episodes of a television show and removed the prod tag). If someone tags this one, then all the other lists (there's even a WikiProject for episode list articles) would have to be deleted. Squirepants101 19:08, 16 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I've also added a category called Lists of animated television series episodes to the article. Squirepants101 19:12, 16 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

So remove the prod already. Salad Days 19:39, 16 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I already did (read my message at the top again). Squirepants101 19:42, 16 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I removed the PROD tag you placed on this article - per the WP:PROD policy, once a prod tag is removed for any reason, it can't be placed back. The next step is to list an article on WP:AFD, which I have done in this case. The article was previously prodded on 28 July 2006, and that tag was removed.--Vidkun 20:32, 16 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

You put it on AfD? I don't see that. Salad Days 20:37, 16 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]
No, my bad, for copying and pasting someone else's wording, I apologize. Today's not my day for not making typos.--Vidkun 20:45, 16 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]
The page says "This is the work-in-progress for the "Grand Lodge of Massachusetts" article." which implies that it's not actually an encyclopedia article, but someone's notes. In which case it either needs to be deleted, or moved out of the encyclopedia space to somewhere more appropriate. Salad Days 20:47, 16 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Fine, make your suggestion for where to move it, or put it up on AFD.--Vidkun 20:50, 16 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Your Userbox[edit]

Hi Salad Days!

I love your userbox which reads: "this user wonders what the weather in London is like." I've got it on my userpage, and it's going to stay there. However, I noticed that "the weather in London" is a link in your article, but there is no article entitled "The Weather in London" on Wikipedia. There is, however, an article entitled "Climate of London." I've never made a userbox, so this might be impossible, but could you change the link so that it reads the same but links to the "Climate of London" article?

I know it's not the biggest deal in the world or anything. Certainly not something over which I want you to lose sleep (this is sentence is why I have so many grammar-related userboxes), but hey, if you get a chance to change it, that would be great. Let me know if you do.

Thanks a bunch for an already-great userbox!

Gabeellsworth 03:05, 17 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for the praise. I picked "The weather in london" intentionally because it's a bizzarely contentous page that gets deleted everytime someone tries to make it. If you want, you could use the following code as an alternative: Salad Days 03:39, 17 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]
This user wonders what the Climate of London is like.

Paddington Alcohol Test[edit]

I have removed the {{prod}} tag from Paddington Alcohol Test, which you proposed for deletion. I am leaving this message here to notify you about it. I'm not sure what distinguishes a notable test from a nn test, but I will try to improve this article over the next couple of hours. If you still feel the article should be deleted, please don't add the {{prod}} template back to it. Instead, feel free to list the article at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion. Thanks! ~ BigrTex 22:55, 19 November 2006 (UTC) [reply]

Peavey[edit]

I had just discovered that Peavey Electronics already existed and was about to create the redirect when you beat me to it. -- RoySmith (talk) 21:32, 26 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Sounds good. Salad Days 21:33, 26 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hi...just so you know, articles that are posted to Wikipedia in languages other than English should actually be tagged {{translation needed}} and listed at Wikipedia:Translation into English before going to speedy; sometimes they're actually valid and salvageable articles once translated. In this particular case we actually already had an article on the topic in question at Fyodor Tyutchev. Bearcat 01:18, 27 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Ahhh, I wasn't aware of that. Thank you! Salad Days 01:22, 27 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for your brilliant sarcasm[edit]

That was really becoming, especially considering I have no idea what article you're talking about since you never mentioned it!

If this is in fact about the article I think it is, I appreciate reading your constructive criticisms. I hope in the future to again receive sarcastic criticism on the basis of flags that you yourself put on the article after I had already edited it.

As always, it has been a pleasure. Best wishes! UnderdogBA`

Deprod comment on M. K. Pandhe[edit]

This guy is still a regular public figure in Indian media at the age of 82 (currently 34 hits on Google News) in addition to his long history, so I've deprodded the article and added a stub tag. --Mereda 08:50, 27 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Okay, thanks for the notice. Salad Days 13:07, 27 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]
  • Same again. (Can't you just tell I've come back to the PC after a week away ..) I've deprodded P K H Tharakan because I think his media coverage probably met the notability benchmark when he was a police chief, and being head of the R&AW looks like a step up from that. I've added a stub tag. --Mereda 14:49, 27 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]
  • I'm not sure that Dr.Panchakshari Hiremath makes the grade either as a poet or translator, but I've moved it to AfD from your prod so that more people have a chance to notice it. --Mereda 15:31, 27 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I'm extremely impressed by your professionalism; moving a questionable PROD to AFD is something I haven't seen before, and I've prodded literally hundreds of articles. Good work! Salad Days 22:21, 27 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Thankyou, Salad Days! It's always a pleasure to work up better answers with open-minded and generous editors. I felt deletion sorting was the right answer for an odd article about someone who could be a genuine literary figure in unfamiliar languages. But that's probably a fancy version of knowing my own ignorance pretty well. See you around. --Mereda 08:23, 28 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Legal Status of Jainism-Proposed Deletion[edit]

Legalese 07:35, 28 November 2006 (UTC)It needs proper formatting. State which parts are "copied from other websites". Most of it are original quotes from the Supreme Court of India's two judgments, which otherwise are not so easily accessible for the lay public. Most of the comments are "analytical". I am not too well versed a user of Wiki. Thus, I request you to kindly consider my problems regarding formatting. Please assist me appropriately. Thanks...[reply]

Huge chunks of the article are pastes, and "analytical comments" are WP:OR. Salad Days 13:10, 28 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Legalese 15:53, 28 November 2006 (UTC) "Analytical Comments" are not in violation of WP:OR since the Analysis of Legal Provisions is based on the judgment dated dated 15th of September, 2000, filed under Section 18 of the Rajasthan High Court Ordinance, 1949, passed by the learned Single Judge in S.B. Civil Writ Petition No. 2684/2000, HIGH COURT OF RAJASTHAN, Appellants: State of Rajasthan and Ors. v. Respondent: Vijay Shanti Educational Trust[reply]

Legalese 15:45, 28 November 2006 (UTC) 1. http://www.countercurrents.org/hr-patil271106.htm. Please see this link published in the "Counter Currents". This article deals with the two judgments and has comments by a member of the State Minorities Commission and an author of a few books on Jainism. 2. I am trying to scan my own copy of the Unreported Jugdment of Rajasthan High Court, on which my "analysis" is based. Whichever chunk has been "pasted" has been duly referenced. A Supreme Court's judgment would have to be "quoted". Illustration's noted by the Supreme Court could not be "narrated" by me, but it is best to reproduce them verbatim.[reply]

I explain the constitution of the whole article as below. The article presently has four sub-headings.

  * 1 The Recent Legal Debate on Jainism
  * 2 THE CONSTITUTION OF INDIA
  * 3 Criticism of the Supreme Court's Decision in Bal Patil's Case
  * 4 Jainism and Other Religions: Illustrations noted by Supreme Court of India

I'll deal with each one in detail.

  * 1 The Recent Legal Debate on Jainism

This sub-heading covers the following: >>The Bal Patil Judgment It quotes from the Supreme Court's judgment. Quoting from a Supreme Court jugdment cannot be a violation of copyright.

The rest of the comments have been written by me. Check, by googling, if you can find any websites from which it has been claimed that

>>U.P. Basic Shiksha Parishad Judgment This para has been written by me. Check by googling if its been copied even a least bit.

  * 2 THE CONSTITUTION OF INDIA

The first para merely quotes the Article 25 of the Constitution of India in original. It is a provision of law, and there is no violation of any copyright in reproducing it.

The second para has been written by me. You can check, by googling it, if it appears anywhere else, it would have name "rishabh sancheti" or the link "legalese" [my wiki name].

  * 3 Criticism of the Supreme Court's Decision in Bal Patil's Case

This has been authored completely by me, with the help of certain legal provisions. Again, citing the legal provisions cannot entail any violation of a copyright. The veracity of such legal provisions may be checked at <indiacode.nic.in>, Government of India's official law database, by feeding the name of the Act.

The explanations appearing below each of the Acts have been authored by me. One can verify by googling.

  * 4 Jainism and Other Religions: Illustrations noted by Supreme Court of India

This fourth part may give an impression on a superficial reading that it is made up of several parts which might be claimed to have been copied. However, I submit with deference that such claim is baseless, and would prove to be so, if any one may be diligent enough to verify. Infact this part is a summary of the illustrations noted by the Supreme Court of India in the UP Shiksha Parishad Judgment, the original link of which has already been given. Click on the link, and it would open a page on the Judis Database of the Government of India, having this judgment. Do a simple CTRL+F to locate these paragraphs there.

As I'v stated above, there could be no copyright violation in quoting from a Court's judgment along with its proper reference. I have not claimed that I have authored this part, the heading itself clearly reads "Illustrations noted by Supreme Court of India". The para numbers in this part are the original para numbers of the Judgment, which has already been mentioned in the beginning of this part.

Excuse me, you have already cluttered the article, the article's talk page, and the article's AfD with your huge amounts of text. There is no need to add more here. You could have spent that energy wikifying and improving the article instead. Salad Days 22:33, 28 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Please be careful[edit]

I notice you prod-ded Maqbool Butt with the comment "nn npov terrorist". NPOV is easily fixed, and should not be stated as a reason for deletion. That you thought he was nn is less easily explained. The article claimed that he founded the Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front; before prodding, it is incumbent on you to check if that claim to notability means anything. The JKLF was the largest terrorist/resistance organisation in the Kashmir valley for many years; the WP article on it details some of its major acts of terrorism. Please attempt to be more careful in future. If this had not been added to the list of India-related deletions, it might have gone through, to the detriment of the encyclopaedia. If you are unsure about the context of an article, there's a simple expedient: try and find out. If you can't find anything, and are still unsure: don't do anything. If that offends you - which it shouldnt - slap a notability tag on it before deleting it. Hornplease 21:54, 28 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Obviously, I am not deleting anything. Before you go around saying "before prodding, it is incumbent on you to check if that claim to notability means anything," you should read WP:V which states: "The burden of evidence lies with the editor who adds or restores material." Geocities pages are not reliable references, and it is not my responsibility to add references to articles, it is the author's responsibility. Salad Days 22:36, 28 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I am continually amazed at the ability of people to direct other people airily to WP policy as if they are completely unfamiliar with it. Of course I've read WP:V. Note that I havent assumed that you are completely ignorant of WP policy; this is because I wish to be civil. If you read WP:V, you will note that 'self-published' sources are valid as references for articles about the authors of those sources. In particular, the JKLF website - which starts off at jklf.org and only later takes you to geocities - is self-published, and valid as a reference for information about the JKLF.
Further, the burden of evidence lies with the editor who adds or restores material; this is with reference to the contents of the article. If, however, the article makes claims to notability, your proper response is not to nominate it for deletion immediately.
Please note that in future a little more humility with reference to the things that you do not know will only make you a better editor. When you have been told in an article what is important, and a simple google search will verify that [6], then getting on your high horse about a misapplication of WP:V is not the way to go.Hornplease 23:40, 29 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Oh, and restoring the tags when it's been brought to your attention: even less likely to improve the encyclopaedia. Think about it. Thanks! Hornplease 23:48, 29 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]
It's nice that my prod forced you to improve the article. If you want to disagree with my methods, that's fine. Salad Days 03:14, 30 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

WP:DEP update[edit]

First, I'd check with User:Bluemoose, who has been running this update - I don't know if the technique he's using is the same as the one you're using, but last time I messaged him that "we're nearly finished - what about an update", a quite fresh-looking update appeared within a day or two. Apart from that, I'd like to keep at this batch some more - there are quite a few that I've marked with "notability" that I'd like to mark with "prod" in a second pass; if you update the pages, that information gets harder to recover. --Alvestrand 13:20, 25 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Young American Primitive article deletion[edit]

Hello! I've been working on this article. You wrote a reson for deletion which I did not quite understand. Please explain what is wrong with the article and how should I edit it to make it stay. Respect, Louigi Verona.

"nn" is short for non-notable. If you feel it is notable, go ahead and remove the deletion message. It also needs some wikilinks and a category. Salad Days 07:22, 27 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

YAP: okay[edit]

It is notable, alright, one of the most influential records in the begining of the 90s, something that defined ambient trance style. I do want to ask advice though - I would want to make categories and such and I will work on it today and in the following days, however, I think I'd better remake this article into an article about musician rather than an LP. Do you think it would be a more fundamental thing? After all, all the info there atm is about the musician himself. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Louigi Verona (talkcontribs) 07:31, 27 December 2006 (UTC).[reply]

Yes, the information about the musician would be best served in an article about him, I think. Splitting it up is a good idea. Salad Days 07:36, 27 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Vickeried[edit]

I have removed the {{prod}} tag from Vickeried, which you proposed for deletion, because its deletion has previously been contested or viewed as controversial. Proposed deletion is not for controversial deletions. For this reason, it is best not to propose deletion of articles that have previously been de-{{prod}}ed, even by the article creator, or which have previously been listed on Wikipedia:Articles for deletion. If you still feel the article should be deleted, please don't add the {{prod}} template back to the article, but feel free to list it at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion. Thanks!

I have gone ahead and nominated it and the discussion can be found at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Vickeried. ~ BigrTex 23:01, 27 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

No, you didn't do anything wrong, it was just curious. You don't have to AfD a prod unless someone else removes the prod message. Those articles are ripe for deletion at any time, an administrator simply has not gotten around to deleting them yet. They don't automatically get deleted after five days, someone does it manually. Okay, thanks for the heads up. Salad Days 19:07, 29 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hello ... since you did a Speedy Delete on this article, how do you feel about the other bio articles created by the same author that I also tagged with a {{prod}}? I thought it was Too Late for a {{db-bio}} on them, and wanted an Admin to look at the Big Picture as well, so I just tagged the three listed on the tak page.

On a slightly related note, the discussion during the AfD of another one of this author's articles led to my creating The Harley-Quinn.com Argument to address arguments of Alexa and Google popularity rankings as an alternative to WP:N requirements of non-trivial published WP:RS references to the subject ... maybe you'll find it a useful reference for "raising consciousness" in other AfDs where people argue Google/Alexa PageRank as a reason to keep an article. —72.75.72.174 (talk · contribs) 20:01, 1 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Well, I added the speedy tag to that page mostly because an article whose sole contents are "pagename x is an object of category y" is completely worthless. As far as the other pages go, maybe they are notable, even if the only reference they have now is self-aggrandizing. I have no opinion, I guess. Thanks for the link though! Hi Salad Days,

I found that you prodded my page about the band Katbite, i am pretty new to contributing stuff to wiki, and must admit that i haven't read the whole help file completely, but i am pretty sure that the nn band reason is not really appropriate for this band. Did you try and do a google search? though i havent finished my article yet, it is a band with a 5 year succesfull history in underground dutch music. a fanclub of several 100s fans, and chart notation of at least one of their produced singles. i think it is big enough to mention them. up to you, but i would like to see you delete your prod. Because i have no idea what to do against it, if you don't, please explain me what to do to avoid it being prodded. thanks. Japiejo 23:57, 3 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I appreciate the notice. I'm not entirely convinced that it meets WP:BAND, but with some more references added to the article, I'm sure it can be squeaked in. Salad Days 04:16, 4 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Not criticizing or anything, but didn't we want to wait until all the pages were done being fixed on there? We had a good 1000 pages left. -Patstuarttalk|edits 20:13, 11 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I don't see a compelling reason to wait. The legitimately unfixed pages from the old version are still on the new version, and most projects of this nature are either dynamically generated by category, or created by automated scripts anyway. I think it is far more efficient to have the information be as current as possible. For example, I have prodded over 400 dead-end articles between Christmastime and now, while waiting for the last few on M-Z to be removed by hand, even though most of the articles have already been dealt with in some manner already. The new version has thousands of articles which have only seen one human editor, although some have been tagged orphan and so forth by bots. I guess my point is that the actual number of dead-end pages is growing, regardless of how many are on the list itself, and I would like to see them dealt with as quickly as possible. The Great Stink (Gilmore Girls)[edit]

Why did you replace the whole plot summary of this page with "Some things happen"? I was recentchange patrolling and reverted your edit, assuming it must be the work of a vandal; but when I went to your talk page, intending to give you a vandal warning, I found that you are not a vandal, but a respected editor with barnstars. As a result, I thought it would be a little insulting to give you a vandal warning, and you deserve the chance to explain yourself. What were you doing? Perhaps you could read the plot summary, and tell me what you think of it. It's not exactly a featured article. Salad Days 20:21, 4 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Fair enough. I have never seen Gilmore Girls and know nothing about the episode; it was just that it looked odd to me that you replaced the whole plot summary with "Some things happen". NCIS episodes[edit]

  • I have discovered that List of NCIS episodes links to articles about every single episode (there are many). None establish notability, none have references, all contain (at most) plot summary and quotes (plus a sprinkling of original research-type observations). I tagged a few of them before I thought there must be a better way to go about getting these AfD posted and merged or whatever. I'm not really sure. As you have been a pundit in similar areas of concern in the past I am hoping you might want to take a look at the assemblage and handle it somehow.
  • Also, User talk:MatthewFenton has been removing notability and reference tags and has ordered me to "cease". I'm not sure how to handle this either.

Can you help here? -Shaundakulbara 20:37, 5 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

This is appears to be a somewhat volatile subject: there appears to be a disparity of consensus between the television enthusiasts, and the editors whose interests lie elsewhere. Perhaps for now the articles could be made into redirects to the list, until such a time as they contain third party sources? That would avoid the problems I ran into at AfD of canvassing and hand-waving. However, I think the most ideal long-term solution would be to change the episode list itself so that the information from the articles such as guest stars and writers and so forth could be merged into it easily, thus making the episode's article completely redundant. Then, lacking anything they could actually add to the article that wasn't already covered, an afd might have a better chance of success.
As to your second point, I ran into some difficulty with him as well yesterday. Apparently he prefers to revert, rather than discuss changes, and takes a personal interest in any television-related article. I suppose these things happen; we will simply have to endeavour to remain professional about this and hope cooler heads prevail. Salad Days 22:55, 5 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]
As User talk:MatthewFenton will not even allow a tag to grace these articles, I estimate a 0% chance that User talk:MatthewFenton will not simply revert attempts to merge them. I don't see this as an emergency and want to go about this with a cool head. I think I'll study up on the AfD mechanics and propose them for a group delete/merge in a few days. I can't imagine they'll pass, although User talk:MatthewFenton has scoffed at the idea they won't. Thanks for the advice. Shaundakulbara 00:11, 6 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I agree with him: I think bringing those articles to votes for deletion is a poor idea, even though the articles are totally superfluous, since my recent attempts have gone badly. I think simple editorial action like merging would be the more effective route to go, but I would applaud you for trying. Of course, the downside of this is that it's a huge amount of work. Salad Days 00:27, 6 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]
It seems lately that when I want to save an article I face indignant cries of "OH GAWD NO! We can't have cruft like that on Wikipedia! No way, no how!" Yet when I point out stuff that doesnt belong it's like "Oh, it belongs. You're just too ignorant to understand why nothing you've read about verifiable notability applies here. Maybe when you're older. Now go play with dolls." I'm not quite ready to surrender to this bullying yet! Shaundakulbara 01:08, 6 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]
LOL! It sucks that you've had some bad luck, but I think that dealing with whacked-out priorities is sort of the nature of the beast. Compare the level of detail in List of minor Star Wars droids to say, Lascaux, just to pick something at random. However, if you make a move to delete a pile of crappy episode articles you will have my full support. Salad Days 01:37, 6 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Lol here too. In discussing Wikipedia, Stephen Colbert said something to the effect of there's something special about a place that has a longer article about truthiness than it does about Lutheranism. Shaundakulbara 01:49, 6 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Crummy articles[edit]

File:Order of Smile.png

Regarding a recent edit to your user page in which you refered to certain "crummy articles", I respectfully request that you examine the guidelines regarding WP:Civility. Tsk tsk tsk, Salad...no Ideal Wikipedian would ever say such a thing. Shaundakulbara 02:50, 6 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

OH! Nice with the external linking! I was surprised you chided me on the word "crummy" when the word "asshole" was so nearby :) Salad Days 02:57, 6 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

grandparents[edit]

I've put the full explanation you asked for on the article talk page, so I can find it again. You might enjoy looking at Frances_Ann_Tasker_Carter and the similar contributions you will find under a variety of different username for people from Virginia and Maryland--real genealogy of non-notable people of the sort that I agree does not belong here. I haven't had the courage to start tagging them, because putting this junk in is clearly a determined project. I'll be glad to help get it out, though. DGG 06:02, 8 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Nice. Thanks! Salad Days 12:35, 8 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

PROD Tags[edit]

As I have gone along, I have updated some pages, but some were not even close to necessary. KGSR in Austin? Come on! - SVRTVDude (Yell - Work) 08:03, 11 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Any radio station that is duly licensed by the FCC and originates even a portion of its own programming schedule is unconditionally not a deletion candidate under current Wikipedia practice. If you think that should be changed, feel free to propose a policy discussion. In the meantime, however, I don't have a responsibility to clean up the article myself just because I remove a prod tag on the basis that it was applied wrongly to an article that isn't currently deletable. You'll kindly note that I have added cleanup tags where appropriate, which is the extent of where my responsibility in the matter lays. Bearcat 08:07, 11 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Well, I have learned a valuable lesson: don't bother posting suggestions. Instead, simply nominate everything for deletion and you will receive a reply immediately. Thanks for asserting some vague consensus on an essay instead of bothering to reply to my request for assistance! Salad Days 08:31, 11 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I'm Canadian. Catching these things from the prod category is the only way I can know where there's an issue — do you really think I'm going to spend any amount of time monitoring the talk pages of radio stations I've never even heard of for cleanup suggestions that I can't even really respond to given that I don't have the requested information? Bearcat 09:31, 11 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]
As I have gone through, I have added FCC links and website links and cleaned up the pages as necessary. As for the information, I will leave that to the people who live in those areas. - SVRTVDude (Yell - Work) 08:21, 11 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for responding to my request. Salad Days 08:27, 11 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I am removing your AFD tags as they continue to be not necessary. - SVRTVDude (Yell - Work) 09:21, 11 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]
If you want help updating these radio pages, let me know....I can help you. I may not know all the information, which is why I leave it for people in those areas, but I can get it updated enough. - SVRTVDude (Yell - Work) 09:37, 11 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Someone else already wiped the tag, but you added it to WCOJ. I wrote that article....explain. --SamMichaels 19:13, 11 February 2007 (UTC) [reply]

Brazil trial matches results on their training camp at switzeland[edit]

I went ahead and speedy deleted Brazil trial matches results on their training camp at switzeland. Thanks for tagging it for proposed deletion, but you could also have tagged it for speedy deletion, as there really was no hope for its contents. JIP | Talk 16:55, 16 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Well, someone bothered to put a "requested page" template on it, so I wasn't too sure about that one. Salad Days 22:25, 16 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Question[edit]

Why did you add a prod2 tag to the barnstar on User:Calton's talkpage? I hope this was in error, because even though Calton and I have had our differences, he does deserve a barnstar for his deletion work. If this is not in error, please explain why. Thanks. - SVRTVDude (Yell - Toil) 00:02, 20 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Read it and look at the thing sitting on top of it, and read the edit summary. I couldn't think of a way to "agree" with a barnstar. Should I just give him a different one instead? Salad Days 00:02, 20 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Could if ya want...but the prod2 tag would delete the entire talk page, not just that section. If you want to give him a second barnstar (could make it for something slightly different, if possible) you can, I don't think there is a rule against it. - SVRTVDude (Yell - Toil) 00:07, 20 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Well, I don't think prod2 makes a page show up on the prod lists... but I will replace it with something else to eliminate confusion. Salad Days 00:11, 20 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks:) I like the barnstar you added. It is the first time I have seen that one. I like it:) - SVRTVDude (Yell - Toil) 00:34, 20 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I would certainly hope so, as I just made it up! Salad Days 00:35, 20 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]
There are alot of barnstars I have never seen before, I thought it was just one you found. Nice work! How did you make it? - SVRTVDude (Yell - Toil) 00:38, 20 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I used the {{award2}} template. I enjoy using templates :) Salad Days 00:40, 20 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Indeed, templates make things SO much easier:) Especially the DMA market templates, they are quite helpful. - SVRTVDude (Yell - Toil) 00:42, 20 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]
And why, exactly, is User:Orangemonster2k1 watching my page? --Calton | Talk 00:43, 20 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I have many users on my watchlist. Makes things easier on me, so it is not just you. Hey, this time I was trying to help. - SVRTVDude (Yell - Toil) 00:44, 20 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]
BWAHAHA! Salad Days 00:46, 20 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]
It helps when you respond to something on your talk page and not mine, so I can respond back quickly, otherwise, I wouldn't notice. - SVRTVDude (Yell - Toil) 01:13, 20 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Barnstar[edit]

Astonishing. I don't know what to say.

(BTW, nothing wrong with the "prod2", which was amusing in context. Though obviously it doesn't hold a candle to its replacement.) --Calton | Talk 00:43, 20 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks, and you are most welcome! Salad Days 00:44, 20 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Barnstar Template/Apology[edit]

Thanks for the template. I used the smaller version cause I thought it looked better, but each version works. I am going to leave both up and use them as necessary. Thanks again:)

Also, I apologize for the problems that may have been caused by letting you know of the prod2 tag. I was just giving you a heads-up, totally understood why you did that, you added your own, Calton comes in and all hell breaks loose. I apologize for any problems I have caused or that may be caused in the future. - SVRTVDude (Yell - Toil) 05:11, 20 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Don't worry about it; it was clearly an honest misunderstanding. Salad Days 06:00, 20 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks Dude:) Have a Good Night...SVRTVDude (Yell - Toil) 06:01, 20 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

John Birch - Subtitling[edit]

Hi Salad Days, thanks for the info and the welcome. I can understand why you might have thought the Imitext article was abandoned, I kind of lost a little bit of faith after it was proposed for deletion within hours of being put up. I had actually done quite a bit of reading on the etiquette of Wikipedia, and do appreciate some of the concepts of notability and vanity. Of course these are very relative issues, and I am personally not of the opinion that a zealous approach to these principles is justified when storage space is not a huge issue. From my perspective the main editorial interest should be the principle of accuracy..., for articles that have completeness and accuracy I am happy to accept an almost inevitable proportion of vanity and irrelevance... indeed these aspects often take me down rabbit holes to new and unexpected delights... and that is for me one of the huge pleasures in using Wikipedia.... YMMV.

JohnBirch 10:48, 21 February 2007 (UTC) [reply]

I see you prodded this. It certainly needs work, but if there's cleanup in progress, why can't that cleanedup version overwrite the current one? It would save a lot of work for admins and it would teach the original creator about how Wikipedia collaboration works. - Mgm|(talk) 11:50, 21 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

It certainly could. Someone re-wrote my prod summary. Feel free to replace the article with a better one. Salad Days 23:01, 21 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

My bot thanks you![edit]

My bot would like to thank you for the barnstar! Cheers, Jayden54 13:28, 21 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Variation on prod template[edit]

Hi, I've created a {{prod-nn}} template that may be of interest. Addhoc 15:45, 24 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hey, that's cool! Thanks for the tip! Salad Days 20:36, 24 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Your redirect of Death to america day has been speedied[edit]

Just wanted to let you know.--ĶĩřβȳŤįɱéØ 05:40, 14 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Regenerating "list of disambig pages"[edit]

Came across another maintenance project.... I found Wikipedia:Links to (disambiguation) pages/How to update, which requires MySQL access, which is hard to come by these days... would it be possible for the script you're using on Wikipedia:Dead-end pages to work here too? Possibly also on Wikipedia:Links to disambiguation pages? --Alvestrand 06:31, 23 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, I think you could make "Links to (disambiguation) pages" with AWB and the current version of the database dump. The process would be fairly similar. Salad Days 12:40, 23 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Bumping this to keep it from being archived. Salad Days 23:23, 4 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Battling green eye shades[edit]

I was looking over the redirect to George W. Bush, and noticed you had redirected Battling green eye shades there. Just out of curiosity: why? Am I missing some pop-culture reference? --YbborTalkSurvey! 20:02, 8 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

It's a phrase he used in a debate[7], and I still don't know what the hell it means. Salad Days 23:49, 8 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Deleting "List of Commercial Phase Converter Manufacturers"[edit]

Hi. This list was created because there were ongoing objections to allowing phase converter manufacturers to list links to their websites from the "rotary phase converter" and "phase converter" articles. I thought this was ridiculous since most of the very useful information on phase converters is found on manufacturer websites. I would love to see this list removed and allow manufacturers to link to INFORMATION and ARTICLES on their websites. What do you think? Thanks. James Cudahy 10:14, 16 April 2007

Linkspam should be removed, period, not relegated to a list. Salad Days 16:33, 16 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]
That's just it...I don't think it is all necessarily linkspam. For example, there are some excellent articles about the different aspects of phase converters generators on American Rotary's website that are pretty obscure but very informative. This is the case for some (definitely not all) other manufacturers too. Another example is Phase Perfect. Both companies offer very unique products in their industry and their own papers are simply the most informative and accurate. Linking to an article on a website seems reasonable, but the objections are that the same site is also for commerce. I agree that linkspam should be removed, but how to balance this issue for a niche product when the information varies greatly and is almost completely tied up in the manufacturer websites? Thanks again. James Cudahy 23:04, 16 April 2007

Contribs of User:Torb37[edit]

I can see that have very valid concerns regarding language/grammar/etc. I have begun moving some of the pages that you listed on this user's talk page to correct the spelling errors in their titles, and have tagged them for copyediting and sources. I have sought to adjust the links from other articles in order to avoid the redirects; if you can keep an eye out for any that I miss, that would be great. Regards, Adrian M. H. 13:45, 15 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you very much for your assistance! Salad Days 14:20, 15 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

New WikiProject[edit]

I'm putting together a WikiProject for database analysis and thought you might be interested. I have some scripts that I've been expanding to produce more reports than just the WP:WANTED lists that I've been updating recently. Before I start encroaching on anyone else's territory or duplicating effort, I thought it would be good to get in touch with people doing similar updates to other pages, and to try to get us all organized. --Sapphic 18:08, 20 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I was drafted into updating Dead-end pages when Bluemoose left Wikipedia, because he was apparently the only one who knew how to do it at the time. I would find an organised, central location for discussion of these kind of projects most helpful: for example, refreshing the database dump's webpage every few days to see if it's updated or not could be done more efficiently by multiple people... Thanks for the heads-up!
I also recently updated Wikipedia:Links to (disambiguation) pages because it was languishing in neglect. Oh, it occurs to me that it might be fun to dig around Wikipedia project pages for more obsolete instructions that demand MySQL queries, and update them ;) Salad Days 21:55, 20 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Altering the article thus [8] is not helpful in any way. Please direct any comments to either the article talk page or the appropriate user talk page. One persons shit box is another persons list of missing articles. Megapixie 06:40, 29 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I'll be sure to remember that the next time I deprod something without addressing gross and easily correctable errors on a shitbox article.

Prods[edit]

Hi. I just wanted to thank you for prodding so much of Torb37's junk. I've been on that guy's case for a while - not only is his grammar ghastly, no references, articles mostly content forks or worthless lists - what really galls me is that he has never replied to a message! So it's good you've taken some action against his stuff. Biruitorul 05:03, 3 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

It was really the only thing I could think to do. I'm glad it was an acceptable action to take. Salad Days

Removal of content from your page[edit]

I have had to remove content from your user page, and a userbox you created, because the content might cause legal problems for the Wikimedia Foundation. Please do not recreate. There is a relevant discussion on the Administrators' noticeboard. Sam Blacketer 23:32, 2 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Um... okay, thanks for the link to the relevant discussion. Salad Days 11:27, 3 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Orphaned fair use image (Image:Arms.png)[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Arms.png. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable under fair use (see our fair use policy).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BetacommandBot 22:02, 11 May 2007 (UTC) [reply]

What's wrong with you? --Cyde Weys 19:57, 11 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Your bot changed my image from {{GFDL-self}} to {{GFDL-self-with-disclaimers}} for no apparent reason. Then, when I tried to remove the "disclaimer" and changed it to {{GFDL-no-disclaimers}}, the bot interfered again and changed it to {{GFDL}}. This series of changes is one that I would describe as being "willy nilly." Salad Days 21:59, 11 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
If you'd read the page that you vandalized rather than vandalizing it, you would understand what this was about. --Cyde Weys 22:59, 12 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, you're right. Salad Days 23:20, 12 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
