Spam in Usmt[edit]

Hello, this is a message from an automated bot. A tag has been placed on Usmt, by another Wikipedia user, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. The tag claims that it should be speedily deleted because Usmt is blatant advertising for a company, product, group, service or person that would require a substantial rewrite in order to become an encyclopedia article.

To contest the tagging and request that administrators wait before possibly deleting Usmt, please affix the template {{hangon}} to the page, and put a note on its talk page. If the article has already been deleted, see the advice and instructions at WP:WMD. Feel free to contact the bot operator if you have any questions about this or any problems with this bot, bearing in mind that this bot is only informing you of the nomination for speedy deletion; it does not perform any nominations or deletions itself. Proposed deletion of USMT[edit]

A proposed deletion template has been added to the article USMT, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process because of the following concern:

non-notable software

All contributions are appreciated, but this article may not satisfy Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and the deletion notice should explain why (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised because, even though removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, the article may still be deleted if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria or it can be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. AfD nomination of User State Migration Tool[edit]

I have nominated User State Migration Tool, an article that you created, for deletion. I do not think that this article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and have explained why at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/User State Migration Tool. Your opinions on the matter are welcome at that same discussion page; also, you are welcome to edit the article to address these concerns. Thank you for your time. Guy (Help!) 22:28, 21 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Being that you you've asked me how to write an article about USMT so it would be within Wikipedia standards, may I suggest:

  1. Do not write it as a FAQ sheet. Look at Wikipedia articles (preferably ones without tags atop them) to get the feel as to their presentation.
  2. Include information from articles covering it that have nothing to do with Microsoft and not coming from blogs. Reporting coverage from magazines, (non-self-published) web news (but not blogs), and newspapers or books would help.
  3. Write only in the third person and restrict external links to the bottom of the article. Cite footnotes.
  4. Write an introduction that summarizes the subject of the article (What is it? What does it do? What is its significance?).
  5. When the article is completed, it should not read either like a Microsoft pamphlet or a news release.
  6. Restrict "see also" to a separate section in the bottom. "See also" should contain only wikilinks; "External links" may contain a few links that are not used for references. Once you insert footnotes, you'll need to add a "References" section consisting of the template {{reflist}}.

I hope this helps. As the article stands now, it seems ready for Microsoft publication, but it's not beyond help or hope. Best of luck! B.Wind (talk) 03:40, 25 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

File permission problem with File:User State Migration Tool GUI 5.png[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:User State Migration Tool GUI 5.png. I noticed that while you provided a valid copyright licensing tag, there is no proof that the creator of the file has agreed to release it under the given license.

If you are the copyright holder for this media entirely yourself but have previously published it elsewhere (especially online), please either

  • make a note permitting reuse under the CC-BY-SA or another acceptable free license (see this list) at the site of the original publication; or
  • Send an email from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en@wikimedia.org, stating your ownership of the material and your intention to publish it under a free license. You can find a sample permission letter here. If you take this step, add {{OTRS pending}} to the file description page to prevent premature deletion.

If you did not create it entirely yourself, please ask the person who created the file to take one of the two steps listed above, or if the owner of the file has already given their permission to you via email, please forward that email to permissions-en@wikimedia.org.

If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:File copyright tags#Fair use, and add a rationale justifying the file's use on the article or articles where it is included. See Wikipedia:File copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have provided evidence that their copyright owners have agreed to license their works under the tags you supplied, too. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log. Files lacking evidence of permission may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described in section F11 of the criteria for speedy deletion. You may wish to read Wikipedia's image use policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

ATTENTION: This is an automated, bot-generated message. This bot DID NOT nominate any file(s) for deletion; please refer to the page history of each individual file for details. Thanks, FastilyBot (talk) 03:00, 8 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]

September 2017[edit]

Information icon Please do not add promotional material to Wikipedia, as you did to User State Migration Tool. While objective prose about beliefs, organisations, people, products or services is acceptable, Wikipedia is not intended to be a vehicle for soapboxing, advertising or promotion. You have mentioned in various places that the GUI wrapper at ehlertech.com is one you've designed. Since this is not a free product, it can be seen as a form of advertising, and per WP:ADV, you should refrain from linking to this site. Thank you. Thank you for your heads up on this matter. I did not originally setup the links but as they pointed to a wrong page I updated them. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 130.225.169.1 (talk) 09:39, 13 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]
