Your recent editing history at Battle royale game shows that you are currently engaged in an edit war; that means that you are repeatedly changing content back to how you think it should be, when you have seen that other editors disagree. To resolve the content dispute, please do not revert or change the edits of others when you are reverted. Hi Sanctusune! I noticed that you recently marked an edit as minor at Gim Yu-sin that may not have been. "Minor edit" has a very specific definition on Wikipedia – it refers only to superficial edits that could never be the subject of a dispute, such as typo corrections or reverting obvious vandalism. Any edit that changes the meaning of an article is not a minor edit, even if it only concerns a single word. Please see Help:Minor edit for more information. Thank you. - Looking at the Help:minor edit section my edits were indeed, minor. as in changing the romanization of a word from one to another, it did not change the meaning of the name, nor are there necessarily those of dispute since my edits follow Revised Romanization as outlined in Wikipedia:Naming conventions (Korean). If there is a different source you can link that directly addresses the topic of the naming conventions from different languages into English and whether it constitutes as minor or not please link them and I will adjust accordingly. As such, Help: minor edits does not address this, particular type of edit. However, the moving of this page from Kim Yu-Shin to Gim Yu-sin was not minor and in that case, was an accident. Romanization[edit]
I understand why Revised Romanization should be used, but on pages about monarchical/colonial era Korea, we often encounter people sharing the same surname (and often the same clan), but the spellings differ. For example, the father of Queen Soheon is commonly cited as "Shim On" in western sources, while according to Wikipedia rules, the rest of his family should be "Sim". This is confusing for a person who is unfamiliar with Korean naming conventions and romanization rules. So is it possible to use a common spelling when writing the same surname on a page? Like in the case of Yeonsangun's family, where his wife and maternal grandmother are both named 신, but with different spellings: "Queen Shin" (again, as she is generally called in the western world) versus "Lady Sin"? - @Maria0215 Now the commonality of a name's spelling is tricky. Wikipedia:naming conventions (Korean) is very strict with using the revised romanization, as such, so am I. With the example you just listed, I did some research and find that you are correct. And the naming conventions do specify if the sources used have a common spelling go with that. I won't change the spellings if this is the case. I have gone through your edits before and corrected them but if you make some notes to your edits, (an edit summary if you will) to point out the common spelling then I will leave them alone. By default however, if an edit has been done or one of my edits have been undone without an explanation, I will just continue to correct the spelling, but if you make a small summary by saying (spelling was chosen based on sources) then I will leave them alone. The only exception are those family names of Kim (Gim) and Kwon (Gwon) most of the western sources that use these names have sufficiently shifted over using the Revised Romanization (see the article on Gwon Yul for an example). I always check edit summaries and talk pages before I edit and if there is nothing there to suggest another spelling is more common, I default to the Revised Romanization. Regarding recent page moves[edit]
@Sanctusune, WP:NCKO clearly states that McCune–Reischauer for North Korean and pre-1945 Korean names. As Kang Kam-ch'an and Kang Cho are both from the pre-1945 era, they should be titled via McCune–Reischauer.
