Poland contour map[edit]

Sure, why not. On the other hand I see no reason to do that as my license is much more free than the CC-by-SA and you are free to make any maps with that one anyway (in fact the set of my blue maps became some sort of a standard on English wiki so there's already a plethora of maps ready, just check what links to the license). The question: How to I disambiguate Liz Carroll? Currently, the article is about a musician, but I'd like to start an article about one of two suspects in the murder of their foster child, Marcus Fiesel. Help would be appreciated. -- Wikitravel Sapphire 03:07, 9 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Because the person currently at Liz Carroll is likely the predominant use of that name, it should remain at its current title. So, to create a new article of a person with the same name, you would create it at Liz Carroll (SOMETHING), where SOMETHING is usually something like "(author)" or "(politician)". Keep in mind that the new person should independently satisfy the criteria at Wikipedia:Notability (people). It is probably best to integrate the new material you wish to add into the main article on the murder, as this person may only be notable in regard to that murder as a suspect, not in general as a person per se. —Centrx→talk • 03:12, 9 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

My images and wikitravel[edit]

Hi there.. I wasn't aware that wikitravel required the CA-by-SA 1.0 licence. To be entirely honest, I'm not even sure of the differences between the two licences, but I assume the differences are relatively slight. I just had a look at the upload page with available licences and CA-by-SA 1.0, 2.0 and 2.5 are all available to use, but 1.0 is listed as the 'default'... Infobox[edit]

Hi Sapphire, thanks for the message you left on my talk page. To answer your question, I suggest you have a good look at Wikipedia:Infobox templates. For the most part everything looks good. I've made some minor changes that utilize the suggested width of 300px, and I have removed the align="left" from all of the sections that don't really need them to cut down on the code involved. Now there are generally two means of implementing this sort of template. You can just post this infobox's code on a page, and then have to copy all of the table code each time you use it, or you can create a infobox in the template name space. Something like Template:Cathedral infobox in which case you would have to change a few things in order to make it work correctly. Have a look at Wikipedia:WikiProject_Ships/Tables#Table_of_statistics_for_a_ship for an example of each kind of table. I need your help[edit]

Someone has nominated about 20 library articles that I've added for the Libraries in Ohio project to be deleted! I am sick about this. I have spent hours working on these becuase it appears on our project list! Please jump into the discussion here and let them know that this is a Wiki-Ohio project and they should not delete it!!!! delete discussion

I realize that many of these articles are not fully fleshed out. After I have added a few of them as stubs, other people have gone in and added more details. I did my best to make these articles sound from the start, they have references and external links. I don't care if someone wordsmiths what I've added at all, I just hate that all of the hours I've spent on this project is about to be deleted, because I was contributing to a project. If I had come up with the article ideas on my own, and then someone thought they were not notable, I would accept that as part of the community interaction. How can someone just delete articles that are part of a project? I don't understand this, and it has me a bit frustrated. I'm open to any feedback you have.

Other areas where you can help
  • Assessment requests: Some open Requests for assessment need to be answered. To see new assessment requests as they come in, you can watchlist the assessment page.
  • More task forces and subprojects: As this WikiProject covers a very large topic area, it is helpful to add more task forces that focus on specific aspects of Germany. Currently, we have a Mainz task force, a Munich subproject and some joint task forces with other WikiProjects. Any project member is invited to start a new task force. Suggestions for possible topics:
    • Transportation in Germany
    • German politics (the political system of Germany and the biographies of its politicians)
    • German Democratic Republic

Be creative! If you have an idea, just suggest it on the project talk page (don't forget to watchlist it).

  • Categorization: Uncategorized Germany stubs need to be categorized

  • Criteria for B-Class status: The assessment criteria for B-Class have been changed. {{WikiProject Germany}} template now has 5 switches, B-Class-1 through B-Class-5 that correspond to 5 easily checked criteria that an article should meet to be assessed as B-Class. The advantage of this system is that now there is a clear boundary between Start-Class and B-Class articles. Authors of articles that were assessed as Start-Class now get more direct feedback what they should improve to attain a B-Class rating.

All of our B-Class, Start-Class and Stub-Class articles now need to be checked whether they meet any of the B-Class criteria. This is a major effort, and we need your help! If you want to help, but don't know how, please post at the project talkpage.

  • Cities and municipalities task force

A task force dedicated to creating and improving articles on all German cities and municipalities has been started and is looking for help.

Unfortunately, no. The copyleft for Wikitravel is stuck in the past with the CC-by-SA 1.0 license. It's been a pain for us since a lot of good materials, especially photos, are licensed under the CC-by-SA 2.0 or later. Would is be possible to do CC-by-SA 1.0 and any later? The task force dedicated to creating and improving articles on all German cities and municipalities is happy to announce that there are now (at least) stub articles for all municipalities of Germany. Now the task force is looking for help in fleshing these out a little bit. The current phase of activity for the task force is to copy in infoboxes from the articles in German Wikipedia. If you want to help, even just for a few articles, look at the instructions and links here

  • Article Assessment:

There are now way over 26.000 articles tagged as part of our Wikiproject and many still need either an importance or a quality assessment. Also there are many more out there that do need to be tagged like approx 8000 municipalities. If you would like to help take a browse through Articles needing Importance assessment or Articles needing a basic quality assessment.

The Ohio Portal

The maintainers of the Ohio Portal are looking to get it to featured status. They would like to ask all project members to help improve it any way they can. What needs to be done most is the supplying of selected articles and images.

Selected Article: Indian Head Rock

There is a eight ton rock in Ohio that was removed from the Ohio River. This rock is known as the Indian Head Rock Dating back to the early 1800’s, this rock was seen sticking out of the Ohio River and used as a navigational mark for barges along the river. The names of citizens from the town of Portsmouth, Ohio are carved into the rock from the late nineteenth a early twentieth centuries. Some of the names were of well known families from Ohio. They would swim out to the rock, have their picture taken with it or simply carve their names into it.
With the advent of the Locks and Dams along the Ohio River, the rock eventually was submerged, but the legend lived on. A gentleman from Ironton, Ohio located the rock after searching a very long time for it, and he and a crew of scuba divers recovered the rock and took it to the shore to be donated to Ohio for historical value.
After hearing the news about the rock being removed, Kentucky introduced legislation against the removal of the rock. They also want the diver who found it to be prosecuted for removing the rock. Kentucky owns the greatest part of the land the river runs on. Even the Army Corp. of Engineers got involved as to how to move the rock without damaging it. Kentucky wants to have it returned to the river.

This is the third edition of the WikiProject Ohio newsletter. If you have any project announcements feel free to drop them by the NewsDesk. It's request that you watchlist our talk page; so you can chime in on current discussions. Have a great June!

The Ohio Portal

The maintainers of the Ohio Portal are looking to get it to featured status. They would like to ask all project members to help improve it any way they can. What needs to be done most is the supplying of selected articles and images.

Getting the Project Moving
  • WikiProject Ohio as an entity doesn't have as much action as other state projects. For this reason it has been proposed that the inactive WikiProject Ohio Townships be added as our taskforce. There is a !poll going on at WT:OH and your opinion is essential in the matter!
  • Stepshep has also proposed sending an invite to everyone in Category:Wikipedians in Ohio with an invite to join the project. If you are already a member you would not receive the notice of course. Once again, please note your opinion on the project talkpage.

The Central Avenue Historic District is a nationally recognized historic district located at 201 to 338 Central Avenue in Dayton, Ohio. It consists of late 19th and 20th Century Revival-style houses as well as late Victorian-style houses, which were all originally single-family residences.

On December 16, 1982, it was added to the National Register of Historic Places.

Each month a new Ohio related stub is the selected article. If you have a new stub created feel free to nominate it at the NewsDesk.

Ohio NHLs Tabulated

The 25 of Ohio's 69 National Historic Landmarks that were red-links all got articles this month, as part of a WP:NRHP drive to finish beginning the 2,430 or so NHL articles needed for nation-wide coverage. WP:OHIO members Stepshep and Sanfranman59 were busy.

An invitation to join WikiProject Ohio[edit]

Hi, you are listed under Category:Wikipedians in Ohio or one of its subcategories. WikiProject Ohio has been slowing down and we're looking for active Ohioans to turn that around! But first, let us introduce ourselves; we're a group of editors working to improve Wikipedia's coverage of topics related to Ohio and we're sure there's somewhere you'll fit in just fine.
