July 2021[edit]

Your account has been blocked indefinitely from editing because of the following problems: the account has been used for advertising or promotion, which is contrary to the purpose of Wikipedia, and your username indicates that the account represents a business, organisation, group, or web site, which is against the username policy.

You may request a change of name and unblock if you intend to make useful contributions other than promoting your business or organization. To do this, first search Special:CentralAuth for available usernames that comply with the username policy. Once you have found an acceptable username, post the text {{unblock-spamun|Your proposed new username|Your reason here}} at the bottom of your talk page. Replace the text "Your proposed new username" with your new username and replace the text "Your reason here" with your reasons to be unblocked. In your reasons, you must:

  • Disclose any compensation you may receive for your contributions in accordance with the Wikipedia:Paid-contribution disclosure requirement.
  • Convince us that you understand the reason for your block and that you will not repeat the kind of edits for which you were blocked.
  • Describe in general terms the contributions that you intend to make if you are unblocked.
Appeals: If, after reviewing the guide to appealing blocks, you believe this block was made in error, you may appeal it by adding the text {{unblock|Your reason here}} at the bottom of your talk page. Replace the text "Your reason here" with the reasons you believe the block was an error, and publish the page. Longhair\talk 11:04, 19 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Requested username:

Request reason:

I do not receive any compensation in exchange for my contributions, nor am I affiliated to the Sharaf Group or Mr. Sharaf in anyway. I am only conducting the edits since I am currently undertaking a Wikipedia project in my university which requires me to create pages/perform edits for various business figures in the UAE. Mr. Sharaf of the Sharaf Group was my first. I understand that Wikipedia's policy of self promotion was breached which led to my account getting blocked, I will not repeat the kind of edits which will lead me to getting blocked again. If I am unblocked, I intend to make contributions that will help provide correct and updated information about prominent business figures, which include the board members of the Sharaf Group in the UAE

Decline reason:

I have renamed your account, which resolves that aspect of the block. However, I find the substance of your request implausible, and as such I am declining your request. You may make another for someone else to review. 331dot (talk) 13:45, 25 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]

  • Please log in to your account before posting, so we know it's you. What is your connection to Sharaf Industries or Mr. Sharaf? If you work for the company or him, you are a paid editor, you don't have to be specifically paid for edits or specifically directed to edit. 331dot (talk) 07:15, 25 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]
I ask again, what is your connection? You didn't edit about this topic by chance. 331dot (talk) 07:41, 25 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]

It's very unfair to you, especially if you are being graded, for your university to ask you to create articles for a project, as most of the process is outside of your control. Perhaps your university is not aware of the education program materials. You seem very focused on Mr. Sharaf and his business for a general project. 331dot (talk) 08:03, 25 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Please post replies below this comment, so it's easier to follow the discussion. 331dot (talk) 08:04, 25 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]

I have met quite a few employees working for the Sharaf Group, specifically in Sharaf Travel and Sharaf DG. I have also done school presentations on the Sharaf Group before which is how my knowledge about their group is quite extensive. This is why I chose the group for my university project as well. After conducting some research I came across the page of Mr. Mohammed Sharaf on Wikipedia, who is another board member for the group. However, other members such as Mr. Sharafuddin Sharaf, Salaah Sharaf and Mr. Yousuf Sharaf do not have their own pages. Hence, I decided to create pages for them, starting with Mr. Yousuf, Sharafgroup (talk) 08:18, 25 July 2021 (UTC)to further my project.[reply]

I have renamed your account. 331dot (talk) 10:54, 25 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you very much, this project is very important for my university grade. I highly appreciate your help on the matter!SaraY2019 (talk) 12:09, 25 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]
