I do not believe the map would be a derivative work but a synthesis of information from the available sources. Also, being a derivative work was not the reason for requesting deletion. There seemed to be a lot of POV pushing on both sides of the debate and some of the sources cited look biased themselves. I am certainly no expert on the Azerbaijan Democratic Republic, and I'm not sure that the image is right or wrong. The country only existed for two years and barely was recognized as a country by other governments. Much of the border territory was apparently disputed so I can see why there is a heated debate over what the borders were. However, from a Wikipedia deletion process perspective,since no consensus was achieved, I followed the guideline "When in doubt, don't delete." Banak Cathedral[edit]

Hi Sardur, I did some very productive research at the local Armenian bookstore! I found an Armenian book on Classical Armenian architecture published in 2003 in Yerevan (it's in Armenian). It turns out the name of the Cathedral is Բանակ (Banak) and not "Bana" which is what Georgians who wanted to claim the church as theirs. Indeed, the Banak Cathedral is 100% Armenian and very similar to Zvartnots in architecture. I will update the article soon... Best, Serouj (talk) 05:22, 9 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Location of Surp Arakelots Monastery[edit]

Hi Sardur, :) That is a good question! It took me some time -- I had found it about a month ago. I used the description of its location from the VirtualANI page for this monastery (see the "Description" section) to find it on Google Earth. I got some candidate sites and then I compared the pictures of the monastery on VirtualANI to the view from the site when I tilt the Google Earth application to view in 3D. With the Panoramio photo, I think we have visual confirmation... On another note, I bought the English version of the Armenian Art book by Thierry which you used significantly for the French article; I can't wait to go through it... I wanted to let you know that I have gotten in touch with the Research on Armenian Architecture organization, and they have agreed to allow any of their photos (with some exceptions) to be used on Wikipedia and for any purpose so long as attribution is made to RAA. The exceptions may be those pictures taken by individuals outside the RAA, in which case the RAA may request special permission. Those are not really reverts, second, the closure of the AfD and it's conclusion are very questionable. You just can't close a AfD which has 74% of votes for delete and that there were many votes having entered the last days. Particularly when the article was the recreation of similar articles deleted previously. The logical course of events would have been to wait. Someone should replace it for deletion requesting additional votes. Once each side have voted, then will come editors who are neither Armenian nor Turk.

Historic Armenia map[edit]

The User:MontyofArabia has reverted me twice already on putting the historic map of Armenia. We need atleast one historic map in the Armenia page. Can you find a good map or adjust the size perhaps of the Armenian Empire map of Tigranes that was there on the page before. We have a Cilician kingdom map, which is the only ancient map not included the main locations of historic Armenia. Regarding some recent Armenian article changes[edit]

This user who goes by the name of Kentronhayastan [14], Ive noticed his edits for a while now, and they are not exactly describing who he really is. I mean to clarify to you, what im saying is if you notice his edits on the Armenian articles, he pretends he is doing good to the Armenian history, but in fact, he is corrupting it in a clever way. He is an imposter actually. I noticed for example he added a whole bunch of foreign languages to all the articles on our history, and someone else did a good job of reverting those. He basically is POV pushing just about any time in our history articles of foreign rule. He tried to put Islam in all the history articles, hah, and included like 10 other languages, where it says languages. The person that reverted him did a good job and restored the native language Armenian to be the only main language of those times. Specially the Kingdoms of Armenia , whether they were Ancient, or the Modern kingdoms like Bagratuni, and the Antiquity. He also had purposely removed the Marzpanate Mamikonian period, and the other person asked him to restore it back. Also if you can help out please restore back where it says "Armenia Major" in the Antiquity, to "Kingdom of Armenia", this is what it said earlier and this guy Kentronhayastan reverted it back to Armenia Major. Its suppose to say Kingdom of Armenia, because the only Kingdom of Armenia mentioned first is in the Middle Ages. Its showing that there was no Kingdom of Armenia in ancient times? If you notice he recently also changed Commagene to "Kingdom of Commagene", but didnt change Armenia Major to "Kingdom of Armenia". Please put back the name "Kingdom of Armenia", in our antiquity. Also he is the one that made the new image for the Template [15], the one with the Armenian eternity symbol and Mount Ararat with Khor Virap there in that image on the Template History of Armenia. It use to be the Coat of Arms of Armenia, but now he put this new one which is good. But he wants to restore back the Coat of Arms, when he himself made this new image. He is purposely doing this just to ruin Armenian history and culture. Please vote to keep the new image of eternity symbol and Ararat , instead of the Coat of Arms, which is only about the Modern history. This image is better cause its about all the History etc etc. So when he puts, of if he puts a vote, please vote for the current image on the template. You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.
