Request reason:

I don't understand why I was blocked. I am very new at this. I apologize if I am not doing this properly. I created a documentary. A friend suggested that I create a wikipedia article for it. The content is fact based, There is no promotion are sales pitch. I am the subject matter expert on the topic. Please let me know how best to create a wiki article for the documentary. I am not trying to do anything but make an informational article about the movie Bob Gomel : Eyewitness. Please advise. Thank you. 69.216.117.100 (talk) 02:26, 16 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Decline reason:

This request was made by an IP address. If that was you, remember to log in before making other posts. You seem to misunderstand the purpose of Wikipedia; it is not for merely providing information. Wikipedia summarizes what independent reliable sources with significant coverage have chosen on their own to state about (in this case) a film, showing how it meets the special Wikipedia definition of a notable film. Wikipedia is not interested in what people want to say about their own work; if you just want to tell the world about your work, you should use social media, your own website, or other alternative where that is permitted. Since you don't indicate what contributions that are unrelated to your conflict of interest you might make, I am declining your request. 331dot (talk) 02:52, 16 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]

A tag has been placed on Draft:Bob Gomel : Eyewitness, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page seems to be unambiguous advertising which only promotes a company, group, product, service, person, or point of view and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become encyclopedic. Please read the guidelines on spam and Wikipedia:FAQ/Organizations for more information.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". Request reason:

I was blocked for trying to create a wiki article for a documentary I produced, Bob Gomel : Eyewitness. I was accused of trying to promote the film via wiki. I wasn't. I have other avenues online, web site, Facebook, etc for promoting. I understand now I need more outside credibility for the film to create a stand alone article. The subject of the film, Bob Gomel, has a wiki article about him. I would like to add the information about the documentary of which he is the subject to the wiki article about him. I am requesting to be unblocked so I can submit the information about the documentary about Mr. Gomel to the wiki page about Mr. Gomel. Thank you.

Decline reason:

If you agree to follow our best practices for editors with a conflict of interest, you'll probably be unblocked. Because you're only interested in writing about a topic with which you have a clear and obvious COI, we'd like to be sure that you understand our rules and won't spam our website. Writing about your own work is something that few people can do without any unconscious bias. NinjaRobotPirate (talk) 12:06, 15 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Have you read, and do you understand WP:COI? How, in your own words, would that policy apply to the edits you wish to make? SQLQuery me! 00:00, 3 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]

I have read the COI article.

I understand the concerns enumerated in the article.

As for editing the Bob Gomel wiki page with the information about the documentary on Bob Gomel, Bob Gomel : Eyewitness, I am the subject matter expert on the film as I produced and directed it. A such, I am the most appropriate person to enter the facts in the section in Bob Gomel's wiki page about the documentary.

As per the policy, I will declare my involvement in the project.

However, as I understand the policy, I have no COI pertaining to the parent article about Bob Gomel. I understand how I would have a COI on an independent article about the film I made. (I did not fully understand that when I submitted the original article.)

My edit will be factual and not contain any effort to promote the film. I plan to include a list of the stories covered in the film with links to the appropriate wiki articles on the subjects covered, the platform(s) where it can be watched, award nominations and wins, and background on how the film was made.

I have journalistic experience and understand objectivity in writing these types of articles. I am versed in the AP Stylebook for media writing from my days freelancing with AP.

I will welcome scrutiny on my edits to ensure I meet all the requirements and do not run afoul of any rules, including CIO.

I hope this helps. Please let me know if you have any questions.

Thank you for your time. Scarbrd2020 (talk) 22:49, 6 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]
