This has been done under the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page appeared to be blatant advertising which only promotes something, and which is unlikely to be suitable for an article (or at best would need a fundamental rewrite). DVD cover Fair Use Rationales

Hi, re this and similar edits: that doesn't seem like a valid fair use rationale to me. You state:

This image is the box cover of the DVD which is the subject of the article and thus identifies that subject. The creators intended this image to be representative of the particular season of the series, which receives extensive critical commentary in the article. The image serves as the common identification of and mnemonic for the subject to readers. Additionally, the image serves to illustrate characters of the show and the style of animation of the series, and the lack of this image would be detrimental to the understanding of readers, particularly those who are not already familiar with the series. The use of this image does not limit the copyright owners right or capability to market or profit from products or works in which the character appears.

The phrases that don't read true are as follows:

• which is the subject of the article and thus identifies that subject.

Unfortunately, the only article on which it does appear, i.e. An Unearthly Child, isn't primarily about the DVD - it's about the TV serial. The DVD forma only a minor portion of the article - two sentences, to be exact.

• The creators intended this image to be representative of the particular season of the series,

Sorry, but I don't know what "the particular season of the series" means.

• which receives extensive critical commentary in the article

There is no critical commentary of the DVD in the article An Unearthly Child.

• The image serves as the common identification of and mnemonic for the subject to readers.

Er, no it doesn't, see earlier.

• the image serves to illustrate characters of the show

It illustrates two characters, both of whom are already illustrated earlier in the article.

• the style of animation of the series

This series is not animated

• the lack of this image would be detrimental to the understanding of readers, particularly those who are not already familiar with the series

How so, exactly?

The file File:The Five Doctors 20th Anniversary UK DVD Cover.jpg has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Non-free DVD cover art used in a decorative manner in The Five Doctors#Commercial releases. Non-free cover art is generally allowed to be used for primary identification purposes in stand-alone articles about the work in question, but its use in other articles is generally only allowed when the cover art itself is the subject of sourced critical commentary as explained in WP:NFC#cite_note-3 and the context for non-free use required by WP:NFCC#8 is evident. There is no such commentary for this particular DVD cover anywhere in the article, so there's no justification provided for its non-free use.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated files}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the file's talk page.

Please consider addressing the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated files}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist.
