If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Draft:Dr Marie-Claire Cordonier Segger requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G12 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page appears to be an unambiguous copyright infringement. This page appears to be a direct copy from http://www.cisdl.org/team/dr-marie-claire-cordonier-segger/. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images taken from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. You may use external websites or other printed material as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. This part is crucial: say it in your own words. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.

If the external website or image belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use the text or image — which means allowing other people to use it for any reason — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. The same holds if you are not the owner but have their permission. If you are not the owner and do not have permission, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission for how you may obtain it. You might want to look at Wikipedia's copyright policy for more details, or ask a question here.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. December 2018[edit]

Your account has been blocked indefinitely because the chosen username is a clear violation of our username policy – it is obviously profane, threatens, attacks or impersonates another person, or suggests that you do not intend to contribute positively to the encyclopedia (see our blocking and username policies for more information).

We invite everyone to contribute constructively to our encyclopedia, but users are not allowed to edit with inappropriate usernames and we do not tolerate 'bad faith' editing such as trolling or other disruptive behavior. If you think there are good reasons why these don't describe your account, or why you should be unblocked, you are welcome to appeal this block – read our guide to appealing blocks to understand more about unblock requests, and then add the text {{unblock-un|new username|reason=your reason here ~~~~}} at the end of your user talk page. — RHaworth (talk · contribs) 13:32, 10 December 2018 (UTC)[reply]

{{unblock| Please pardon me but I am not paid -- this is pro bono -- all I am trying to do is add information about internationally recognized members of our Centre to support the knowledge community. I am not promoting anything. I am simply trying to contribute to this page by adding information for open use. I will submit the info I intend to put up through a release but I am not trying to violate anything. Simply putting up bios with links to research materials of use. Please reconsider this - thank you

Request reason:

Please excuse any problems I have caused - but I asked for help not expecting to be blocked. My name is not profane or fake. This is the communications team of the CISDL. Please reinstate my name and my work. I sent a polite message to the administrator asking for assistance to clarify what had occurred and now I am blocked from editing. Please, someone, help me.

Decline reason:

You don't seem to understand what you are doing wrong, let alone providing any reason to believe you'll cease your inappropriate edits. Hint: you've been violating WP:USERNAME, WP:COI, WP:PAID, WP:PROMO, and possibly more. Yamla (talk) 16:06, 10 December 2018 (UTC)[reply]

If you want to make any further unblock requests, please read the guide to appealing blocks first, then use the {{unblock}} template again. If you make too many unconvincing or disruptive unblock requests, you may be prevented from editing this page until your block has expired. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.

Request reason:

please unblock so I can delete this account to create one that does not violate naming / other posting requirements please and thanks. My work URL is currently blocked so I cannot even create an account with a name that is not a violation. I have tried to get insight into what I was doing wrong. I cannot remedy this and try to contribute in a way that is in line with your guidelines if I am ostracized at the first misstep. Please let me try to remedy this - thank you.

Decline reason:

Procedural decline only, please follow the instructions in your block notice to request a new username; as you are blocked, this is your only path towards having a different username. 331dot (talk) 19:53, 10 December 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Request reason:

SeanO777: Please change my username so I can be unblocked and make posts within the guidelines. I have been reading the diff points identified by the admins. Clearly, my name is a violation and the posts I made were deemed to be unacceptable. I am trying to learn. Please unblock and allow me to get a proper username - thank you

Questions from administrator(s)[edit]

Hi SeanO777. Please respond below to these questions. I would decline your unblock request unless these questions are answered clearly and in full:

  1. Your username was previously CISDLComms and you have commented above that This is the communications team of the CISDL. Wikipedia has a policy of one person, one account and you are not permitted to share this account with co-workers. Do you understand and agree to this policy?
  1. Wikipedia's paid-contributions disclosure (PCD) policy requires that you publish a clear disclosure on your user talk page (ie this page) of your employer/client and affiliation to them. Please see PCD § How to disclose for instructions. Would you please publish this disclosure? If you are unsure how to make it, please instead respond to agree that we may post the disclosure on your behalf and that you will not remove or conceal the disclosure for so long as it remains valid.

Thank you, AGK ■ 22:26, 10 December 2018 (UTC)[reply]

  • Hi, I understand the policy. At the onset, I did not know this was a problem. I have renamed the account and will only be posting information on notable academics. All information will be posted only by me and will be well sourced. I am happy to disclose if I am being paid for work however what I am doing is not paid. I am a pro bono researcher in a research centre. It was unclear that what I was doing was considered a conflict of interest. All I was trying to do was list information on notable academics to contribute to the knowledge community with well sourced, and reference contributions. I understand that it must be a neutral tone. I simply want to add notable people who might have an association with a centre/network which I am also affiliated with or not. People like Jeffrey_Sachs are allowed. It is similar and I intend to use his as a model. If you deem I must outline all my affiliations at the onset of a post/in talk/or on my page for me to be allowed to post - then so be it. I am a member of multiple research networks (CISDL being only one). This fact should not restrict me from being able to post about people who may also be associated with such a network. I simply want to add information on notable people and highlight their published works -- in particular open sourced material -- to share knowledge and resources within the community. If this goal still is deemed to be within the WP:PCD policy they I will comply with whatever disclosure or review you suggest. I am also happy to have you review the post prior to ensure I am not in violation. I am truly trying to comply with your policies. Thank you for your consideration. — Preceding unsigned comment added by SeanO777 (talkcontribs)

Deletion of Page[edit]

Originally posted at user talk:RHaworth - here

You requested deletion of a page for our Senior Director. How do I indicate that the bio being put up is compatable with a CC lisense so as to not have the page deleted? Must this be listed on the source website? Is there a standard form or placement in the post? The copyright policy indicated that I could post anything under a CC0-4 license which is why I posted the content I did. Any guidance to ensure this does not occur again would be helpful. — Preceding unsigned comment added by CISDLComms (talkcontribs) 13:30, 10 December 2018 (UTC)[reply]

  • Please read this. Your piece was a distinct insult - you made no attempt to create an encyclopedia article: you simply dumped her CV here. You clearly do not understand the difference between a trade / organisation directory and an encyclopedia.
Your email contained the interesting contradiction: "pre-approved text". The only way Wikipedia text can be approved is by posting it for approval by other editors. Kindly have the decency to wait until someone with no CoI thinks this woman is notable and writes about her here. — RHaworth (talk · contribs) 10:44, 13 December 2018 (UTC)[reply]

UPE[edit]

AGK since you unblocked SeanO777 they have created 5 articles, all about people affiliated to CISDL, none of them carrying the required disclosures of COI & paid editing, and despite their assurances to you that they understood the policy. Consequently I'm tagging them all as WP:G11.

Regards, Cabayi (talk) 15:22, 27 December 2018 (UTC)[reply]

AGK - I was not asked in the submission to add the COI. Please indicate where I am to answer this question. Also please look at those I am listing - A Prof at Cambridge, a Prof from Waterloo, a Prof from Wisconson, and an Obama Fellow - all similar to https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jorge_E._Vi%C3%B1uales. I am also working to comply with your policies on bios for loving people, and academics. As I noted prior, I am aiming to submit information into the collective similar to the page I noted (among others). Please let me know where you would like me to remedy this.

As per - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Paid-contribution_disclosure - I have placed a paid disclosure and COI disclosure my page. Thank you for bringing this to my attention.

Those seem to me to be five c=good articles about notable people, regardless of the rationale for their creation. But you must place a coi tag on each article or its talk page, people reading at the article have the right to know that.Iwould suggest that to avid further attempts at deletion, that you create any article with which you have a coi in Draft space, and make the d eclaration there also.
In addition it would help if you followed some of our usual conventions:
We normally list all the books, and dont include journal articles unless there are no books, or very few. We do not include reports, chapters in books, or conference presentations, unless they are of very unusual significance.
We include every professional position, in chronological order.
We do not include prizes given by the various organizations they work for..
After the first mention, we refer to people just by their last name, or "He";
and try to find and link the place they were born/ DGG ( talk ) 05:26, 28 December 2018 (UTC)[reply]
DGG, I'm looking at Konstantia Koutouki, where notability is very much in doubt. And SeanO777, please read the instructions at Template:Connected contributor again. They go on the talk page. Drmies (talk) 13:51, 29 December 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Notice

The article Maya Prabhu has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

does not meet Wikipedia's notability guideline for academics, not a notable figure

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion.

This bot DID NOT nominate any of your contributions for deletion; please refer to the history of each individual page for details. Thanks, FastilyBot (talk) 10:00, 8 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]
