The Apprentice (4)

Seaserpent please do this correctly, the template you used should not be included RE: Crystal deletion. Dalejenkins 18:04, 4 May 2007 (UTC)

Ifti and Adele

Thanks for creating the new template, it's great! Although, as Adele (S1) and Ifti (S3) asked to leave but were dismissed with "You're fired!", the result should be "Mutual Agreement"?

Comic Relief version?

Would it also be possible to include the template on the [Comic Relief Does The Apprentice]] artice, in this order (from bottom to top)-

  • Rupert Everett as "Resigned"
  • Cheryl Cole, Jo Brand, Karren Brady, Maureen Lipman and Trinny Woodall as "On Winning Team"
  • Ross Kemp and Timothy Campbell as "On Losing Team"
  • Alastair Campbell and Danny Baker as "Brought Back To The Boardroom"
  • Piers Morgan as "Fired"

Thanks again

Apprentice Screenshots

Hi there, seeing as you're an administrator I thought I'd ask you this question I have. On the page List of The Apprentice UK candidates, someone has added small screenshots of some of the series 3 candidates - are these images fair use? It would be nice to include them for all candidates for all series, but I'm hesitant to add them as I'm not too familiar with what would and wouldn't be fair use. Thanks! Seaserpent85 12:48, 6 May 2007 (UTC)

Hey - sorry about the delay in replying! Regarding the screenshots I'm not too sure... we couldn't claim fair use if they are being used to illustrate the individuals concerned, only if they are being used to illustrate the individual's participation in the Apprentice (which you could probably claim that they are). It comes down to: if I happenned to live next door to one of the contestants, and took a free photo of them, could that replace the image we are using? If it could, then we can't justify fair use, if it couldn't (because it wouldn't as accurately convey their involvement in The Apprentice) then we probably could. May be worth seeking community consensus at somewhere like Wikipedia:Requested copyright examinations, prior to uploading any more... Cheers, UkPaolo/talk 17:57, 10 May 2007 (UTC)
I have recently discovered that it's against Wikipedia policy to have more than x many screenshots on one article. That's why the Big Brother articles have removed all of the housemate pictures. Dalejenkins 18:37, 10 May 2007 (UTC)

I've nominated the above page for a peer review, now we wait for the "results". Dalejenkins 18:42, 10 May 2007 (UTC)

Apprentice Refs

Just wanted to say nice work on the references - I think we can get GA status for this one. Alas, Terry Wogan actually got delisted: I was surprised the nomination was successful - I was mostly hoping for feedback on it. Oh well, fortunately a detailed review will be on my desk soon! --Fritzpoll 18:32, 16 May 2007 (UTC)

Cheers mate - think I need some away time after doing all that! It beats revision though, hey. If you need a hand with the Terry Wogan article, just give me a shout - to me it looks like it's near enough GA, just needs a bit of a polish. :) Seaserpent85 19:12, 16 May 2007 (UTC)
Casting your eye over the Terry Wogan article when you have a chance would be great - I need to get back to revising for my finals myself! --Fritzpoll 19:17, 16 May 2007 (UTC)
PS: Laralove, who delisted the Wogan article seems to think there's a whole lot wrong with it :( Just the start of her draft...[1] --Fritzpoll 22:28, 16 May 2007 (UTC)
I agree - though I struggled (and failed) to find the three missing citations for the filming locations - I fear we may not pass GA if we can't find them, especially given my recent experiences. --Fritzpoll 22:43, 16 May 2007 (UTC)

Apprentice

Thanks, I couldn't remember if the references went before of after the punctuatuion.

In regards to the WikiProject, I am still onboard. I tried to add references to the series 1 article from this website-[2] (it includes episode guides, candidate profiles etc), although something must have gone wrong as none of them worked!

Happy editing,
Dalejenkins 19:20, 3 June 2007 (UTC)

The Apprentice and bulletpoints

Be careful, the bullet point you deleted [[3]] *is* necessary at certain resolutions. Maybe the whole thing needs reformatting?

Katie and Kristina

Well done and thanks on starting the Kristina Grimes article, it's looking good! Just one or two suggestions-

  • Establish a sub-section about her rivalry with Katie withing the programme, see Katie Hopkins for more info.
  • An infobox is needed

Also, can I ask you a HUGE favour. I'm a little useless with the old "cite web", so was wondering if you could help me with that over on the Katie Hopkins, article please?

Well done again, happy editing! Dalejenkins 10:42, 10 June 2007 (UTC)

Commercial use of Image:KumbaCorkscrew.jpg

Hello, this is a message from an automated bot. A tag has been placed on Image:KumbaCorkscrew.jpg, by another Wikipedia user, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. The tag claims that it should be speedily deleted because Image:KumbaCorkscrew.jpg has a copyright license type implying some type of restricted use, such as for non-commercial use only, or for educational use only or for use on Wikipedia by permission, which was either uploaded on or after 2005-05-19 or is not used in any articles (CSD I3). While it might seem reasonable to assume that such files can be freely used on Wikipedia, this is in fact not the case[4][5]. Please do not upload any more files with these restrictions on them, because content on Wikipedia needs to be compatible with the GNU Free Documentation License, which allows anyone to use it for any purpose, commercial or non-commercial. See our non-free content guidelines for more more information.

If you created this media file and want to use it on Wikipedia, you may re-upload it (or amend the image description if it has not yet been deleted) and use the license {{GFDL-self}} to license it under the GFDL, or {{cc-by-sa-2.5}} to license it under the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike license, or use {{PD-self}} to release it into the public domain.

If you did not create this media file but want to use it on Wikipedia, there are two ways to proceed. First, you may choose one of the fair use tags from this list if you believe one of those fair use rationales applies to this file. Second, you may want to contact the copyright holder and request that they make the media available under a free license.

If the article has already been deleted, see the advice and instructions at WP:WMD. This bot is only informing you of the nomination for speedy deletion, it did not nominate Image:KumbaCorkscrew.jpg itself. Feel free to leave a message on the bot operator's talk page if you have any questions about this or any problems with this bot. If you have any questions about what to do next or why your image was nominated for speedy deletion please ask at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. Thanks. --Android Mouse Bot 2 20:37, 7 July 2007 (UTC)

Series articles

I thnik we might be able to get Series 3 to GA with not that much work, Series 1 will be the hardest as there's little sources to find as the series was generally un-popular with the tabloids etc at that time. Looks like we'll be using {{cite episode}} more than anything. Dalejenkins | The Apprentice (UK)'s FA plea-please have your say! 16:47, 25 July 2007 (UTC)

Apprentice candidate articles

You may not have seen the recent suggestions I made on the talk page of the candidates article. Just pointing that out. :D Dalejenkins | The Apprentice (UK Series Three)'s Peer Review-Review now please! 19:33, 13 August 2007 (UTC)

User:Matthew

Yes, I've been thinking this for some time. His requests have been extreme to say the least (asking us to change the cite episode template because it says season!?!) and I think that WP:IDONTLIKEIT needs to be looked upon. Dalejenkins | The Apprentice (UK Series Three)'s Peer Review-Review now please! 19:49, 13 August 2007 (UTC)

Also, I'm currently re-writing the Series 2 candidate section here if you are interested in helping. I'm trying to foucus on references and their performance on the programme in particular. Dalejenkins | The Apprentice (UK Series Three)'s Peer Review-Review now please! 20:00, 13 August 2007 (UTC)

BIG BROTHER 8

No that's simply not the case. Let's think about this logically shall we? Why do people visit Wikiepdia? For INFORMATION about a subject? Correct? So the average user comes here, to find information about the show and instead is INUNDATED by spoilers? They cannot access ANY part of the article without viewing spoilers? That's RIDICILOUS. Please look at these points. 1. The article is about the show, not the live feeds.

2. The live feeds have NO evidence except for OTHER fan run websites and word of mouth, which should not be considered a SOURCE until confirmed by CBS. Name ONE website that isn't merely run by other fans? Morty's, Jokers, Hamsterwatch, all fansites people!

3. In previous seasons we've seen things changed by CBS. One thing will happen, and then sometimes they will turn off the live feeds and change the outcome. Ive seen it myself, a few years ago someone got into some trouble and they made him eat PB&J as if he lost the competition, and they refilmed it to reflect it.

4. People want to view information on the show, this should not be a spoiler site for people to check and see who's going home, it's informational.

BESIDES - WHO VOTED on this? The few people that were here before the season started?

This is utter nonsense. It's really sad when Wikipedia becomes a place for Ultra Fanboys who want to post spoilers as SOON as they are on seen on the live feeds.

You say that it's run by what the majority wants, but let's be honest, the only people are are EVEN READING discussion are the people who are editing the article. Only a few are like me that actually know HOW to voice their opinion about this. NONSENSE I SAY! Bring WIKIPEDIA back to the PEOPLE, please!

The Apprentice

I just noticed, well done. You have more paitence than me, I started work on a ratings system but eventually gave up! I like the idea of Series Two, but sources may be few and far between as the series wasn't as commercial then. Series One suffers much more from this though, so it looks like {{cite episode}} all round! I think Michelle Dewberry is one to work on in the future also, she's released an autobiography so much more is now known about her early life, and there's reams to write about her post-Apprentice activities (leaves AMSTRAD, loses Syed's baby, starts her own business, goes on the Children in Need reality hairdressers thing. and so on). I'm also planning on re-writing Katie Hopkins, she's much more noteable now after becoming a BBC Radio Five Live reporter [6] and her other appearences on Loose Women, The Friday Night Project and being the "face" of Freeview. Well done again! Dalejenkins | 18:32, 22 August 2007 (UTC)

BB8

Just wanted to send a quick note. Excellent work on adding the images to the BB page. Awesome! - Rjd0060 01:21, 24 August 2007 (UTC)

Episode titles

The series 2 ones were made up because the episodes weren't named, so those should go. The series 1 episode titles are also used on TV.com, IMDb and on several fan forums so, although not reliable sources, I'm almost 100% sure that they're official. As the series 3 ones were taken from the episode section of The Apprentice website, I think they should be kept. Dalejenkins | 17:58, 25 August 2007 (UTC)

RE: BBAU07

Thanks, hope I'll see you over there! •97198 talk 04:07, 26 August 2007 (UTC)

Good job so far on the BB Africa 2 article but do you mind if I make some suggestions. Explain the Head of House and its importance in the game, did it start this year? What are "Pre-twist nominations"? And Week 1 and Week 2 should have stayed in the table for visitors who have never seen the show can understand that during Week 1 those were fake nominations and Week 2 there were no nominations. I also changed the color of the Head of House to match the color used in the American Series. The color you were previously using was for Expelled/Ejected housemates. I also added the Head of House to the Infobox. I am going to add back Week 1 and Week 2 until a Chronology is present. You should really think about joining WP:BIGBRO you would make a great addition. ♪♫Alucard 16♫♪ 06:42, 26 August 2007 (UTC)

Amusement parks

Thanks for the note. I too have been sort of discouraged at lack of participation over at the AP project, but then I just decided to press on until someone else comments. I keep hoping that once summer is over people might be back from visiting amusement parks! Ha! I was interested in your "invitation" template, AP project could also use one. And I sort of stumbled on that amusement park info box by accident a few days ago. I added it to the list of templates on the AP project page. I will check on the roller coaster article, etc. I have been pulled into that alluring world of roller coasters by way of the AP project (and also, of course I like roller coasters). I think an article improvement drive is a good idea. --Tinned Elk 23:26, 30 August 2007 (UTC)

Thanks for the invite template, also for signing up as a member at AP Project! I felt that the project was dying on the vine. I have not actually gotten around to a couple of things (like checking the roller coaster project, etc.), because I had to go to work. That pesky real life! Maybe this weekend. See you there. --Tinned Elk 17:17, 31 August 2007 (UTC)

I noticed that you speak different languages, perhaps German? The Huss Rides article was translated from the german wiki and then cleaned up, but still seems to be missing some of the nuances of the language (e.g., using the term roundabout, I think for ride). I started to try to clean it up using the Huss website for guidance, but decided maybe someone with better language skills could help. Any way, you could put this on your to do list! Ha! If that is not you, just ignore suggestion! --Tinned Elk 17:52, 31 August 2007 (UTC)

Thanks for this. --Tinned Elk 00:27, 1 September 2007 (UTC)

Amusement park importance assessment + template

Wow you were reading my mind. See Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Amusement Parks/Assessment. --Tinned Elk 18:37, 31 August 2007 (UTC)

Re: AmusementParkProject template- thanks, I will have to check it out. I am not sure how much I am going to be around this weekend. I have been mulling over an article improvement in my mind. I even went and got some real paper books on the amusement park subjects! Have a good one.--Tinned Elk 18:44, 1 September 2007 (UTC)

Thanks for the new and improved template. When you include the other project in just the one template, does it categorize the article in all of the listed projects? --Tinned Elk 21:08, 3 September 2007 (UTC)
Great minds obviously think alike! The separate template will work okay, especially since they can be collapsed. Can't wait to check out the portal. We already did get one more member for AP project! Maybe we need to make a standard welcome? Of course at the rate we are going personal welcomes will work just as well. Just found someone had vandalized or at least accidentally deleted a large chunk of the amusement park article! Aagghh! Then Firefox crashed. Not my lucky day.
SS said: I've also signed up to use WP:AWB I thought I saw AWB next to your name a couple of places. I have been meaning to look into that. Not sure if I have "enough" edits, plus is it easy to use? Easy to install, etc.? Anyway, there are still lots of articles not tagged so if you want some mindless tagging you could probably start in the middle of the alphabet on the List of amusement parks. I did the last group (T-Z), the defunct parks, and I think someone had done the first group (A-B). I agree just getting them tagged is more important than the assessment right now. --Tinned Elk 21:25, 3 September 2007 (UTC)

GA article improvement

I did not see any discussion about the Kingda Ka article, i.e., what you/someone think needs to be done to bring it to GA. Do you have that going somewhere or will it be on that article's talk page?--Tinned Elk 23:24, 31 August 2007 (UTC)

Re: Templates

It can be done, but when you do, you run the risk of confusion over the curly braces. It's done by nesting the {{#if:}} and {{#ifeq:}} calls something like this (line breaks included for clarity; this would normally be all one line):

{{#ifeq:{{{Subproject|}}}|yes| This article is also within the scope of
 the [[Wikipedia:WikiProject Subproject|Subproject]] WikiProject.
 {{#if:{{{class|}}}|<includeonly>[[Category:
  {{#switch:{{{class|}}}
   |FA|fa|Fa|fA=FA-Class
   |A|a=A-Class
   |GA|ga|Ga|gA=GA-Class
   |B|b=B-Class
   |Start|start=Start-Class
   |Stub|stub=Stub-Class
   |#default=Unassessed
  }}<!-- end "switch:class" --> Subproject articles|{{PAGENAME}}]]</includeonly>
 }}<!-- end "if:class" -->
 }}<!-- end "ifeq:subproject" -->

There are a few subprojects that work this way in {{TrainsWikiProject}} so you can use that as an example. I have occasionally found some inconsistencies over the need for the {{!}} template, and one of these days I'll figure out when it's needed versus when the | character can be used straight (like I have in this example) and update the documentation for the parser functions. You muppet

I was sorting out the chessington world of adventures page on wiki. It looks disgusting with the citation needed crap, and considering i work there and know all of its true.. i tried to remove it by just deleting it.. Argh. —Preceding unsigned comment added by PeterChessington (talkcontribs) 21:00, 4 September 2007 (UTC)

Re: You muppet

Fair enough, but how could you cite sources to every single little thing on that, other than pointing out a source as the chessington website? Seems a bit daft considering everything on the wiki page is on the website itself.. I'll try to verify my words as much as possible, not that easy considering there isn't a book or such sort explaining every detail of chessington though. Thanks anyway, Peter —Preceding unsigned comment added by PeterChessington (talkcontribs) 21:12, 4 September 2007 (UTC)

  • Categories: Yes, these could be cleaned up. Did you see that I copied the list to the main project page and also to a subpage? Which of course are also not live so when they get cleaned up we will need to fix the list.
  • Water parks: seems to be a consensus that these are included. Do they have their own category?
  • Miniature parks: hmmm. I guess we should include them, maybe have their own category?
  • Main Amusement parks article: I am working on a rewrite of the article. I really don't like the lead and there is inconsistent repetition in there.

External Links

Thanks for your message. I have read the external links page and do not see your problem. The sites I re-added links to (which have been on those pages for years) do not appear to break any rules. In the case of the Thorpe Park links Thorpe Park Guide and Thorpe Park Insider are the two longest running Thorpe sites both starting around the start of the millennium and have provided great tracking of new developments at the parks.

Both contain a lot of copy-write information and pictures as stated on the link you left me as a reason to add an external link. Not to mention I have no doubt that most of the information contained on the wikipedia page for Thorpe Park is in-fact a copy of information found on these sites. In particular it is well know that Thorpe Parks history was compiled by the creator of Thorpe Park Guide. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Timgriff (talkcontribs) 15:45, 16 September 2007 (UTC)
