July 2009[edit]

Welcome to Wikipedia. Although everyone is welcome to contribute constructively to the encyclopedia, your addition of one or more external links to the page The Drunken Dead Guy has been reverted.
Your edit here was reverted by an automated bot that attempts to remove unwanted links and spam from Wikipedia. The external link you added or changed is on my list of links to remove and probably shouldn't be included in Wikipedia. The external links I reverted were matching the following regex rule(s): \byoutube\.com (links: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o-e_dywnhqy). If the external link you inserted or changed was to a media file (e.g. a sound or video file) on an external server, then note that linking to such files may be subject to Wikipedia's copyright policy and therefore probably should not be linked to. Please consider using our upload facility to upload a suitable media file. Video links are also strongly deprecated by our guidelines for external links, partly because they're useless to people with slow internet connections.
If you were trying to insert an external link that does comply with our policies and guidelines, then please accept my creator's apologies and feel free to undo the bot's revert. However, if the link does not comply with our policies and guidelines, but your edit included other changes to the article, feel free to make those changes again without re-adding the link. Please read Wikipedia's external links guideline for more information, and consult my list of frequently-reverted sites. For more information about me, see my FAQ page. Thanks! --XLinkBot (talk) 13:04, 23 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Proposed deletion of Tom Duda[edit]

The article Tom Duda has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Appears not to meet inclusion standards at WP:CREATIVE; I can find no significant coverage in reliable sources.

While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{dated prod}} will stop the Proposed Deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. Proposed deletion of The Drunken Dead Guy[edit]

The article The Drunken Dead Guy has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

I can find no reliable sources to establish notability; appears to fail WP:MOVIE.

While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

A tag has been placed on John Greff requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a person or group of people, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable, as well as our subject-specific notability guideline for biographies.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the page does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that they userfy the page or have a copy emailed to you.  Chzz  ►  12:47, 21 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

The John Greff page has been TARGETED by people with an agenda and was deleted.

The links make it clear that the John Greff page was accurate and interesting enough to remain on Wikipedia. Please reverse this UNFAIR DELETION.

Here is how the page should look and links are included:

John Greff (born 1964) is an American comedy writer/producer/director living in New Jersey. He is known mainly for his first film, the direct-to-video zero budget schlockfest The Drunken Dead Guy (2005) which starred Tom Duda, Bill Hinzman, and Tina Krause. That movie marked the first time Bill Hinzman took on a zombie role with dialog. John is CEO and president of Cheap Jersey Video, Inc and is an occasional guest on "The Joey Reynolds Show" via the WOR Radio Network in New York.

Admin response[edit]

Please read the notability guidelines, which govern inclusion in Wikipedia: WP:ENTERTAINER seems like the most applicable. Note that in order to avoid a speedy deletion, you need to assert something that another user unfamiliar with his work would immediately recognize as claiming notability. Please also read verifiability and reliable sources; Wikipedia relies upon other sources--content added to Wikipedia that doesn't reference existing published resources is considered original research and not permitted. Cheers, Jclemens (talk) 06:04, 22 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

The required links are listed below (again). Internet Movie Database, Bloody-Disgusting, and B-Independent are as reliable sources for movies as any. Writing, producing, and directing a comedy where Bill Hinzman (famous from Night of the Living Dead) plays a talking zombie for the first time is quite a bit of notability where the John Greff listing should remain.

Also, people removed parts of the write-up and links to make it easier to delete the page. Those are dirty tricks and have no place on Wikipedia.

Looking at the History, Master of Puppets removed sections of the listing while trying to delete it. THIS IS UNFAIR!

Sec4dr (talk) 07:07, 22 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

There must be some Wikipedia rules against a conflict of interest as Master of Puppets has edited the same page that he/she is trying to delete. Supporting links were removed as well as some text.

Please investigate and take appropriate action as Master of Puppets should not be allowed to do this. The John Greff listing had notability and reliable sources and should not have been deleted.

Sec4dr (talk) 07:44, 22 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

The John Greff article did not meet Wikipedia's notability standards. As for removing the sections of links, I apologize; I was attempting to restore the PROD notice, as the editor who removed them is not the creator. I corrected my mistake later one. Master of Puppets - Call me MoP! :D 08:39, 22 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Removing links that support the article and then claiming it doesn't have enough links can't be tolerated by Wikipedia. Please take appropriate action with MAster of Puppets. The notability is more than enough.

I have nominated The Drunken Dead Guy, an article that you created, for deletion. I do not think that this article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and have explained why at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/The Drunken Dead Guy. Your opinions on the matter are welcome at that same discussion page; also, you are welcome to edit the article to address these concerns. Thank you for your time.

Please contact me if you're unsure why you received this message. Master of Puppets - Call me MoP! :D 06:11, 22 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

  • Please do not vote more than once on Articles for Deletion. To do so is not only against WP policy, it weakens your case as it makes you look desperate. Frmatt (talk) 07:59, 22 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]
  • You are getting away from thinking about Wikipedia content when you start telling members what to do. Very strange at how personal this all seems.

Sec4dr (talk) 08:09, 22 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

You have been accused of sockpuppetry. Please refer to Wikipedia:Sockpuppet investigations/Veri72x for evidence. Please make sure you make yourself familiar with notes for the suspect before editing the evidence page. Frmatt (talk) 07:18, 22 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Request reason:

Master of Puppets unfairly deleted the John Greff article and is attempting to do the same with The Drunken Dead Guy article. I was not aware of the rule against having 2 accounts on Wiki. That is why I am blocked. More importantly, some of the links to the John Greff article were deleted by Master of Puppets as well as some of the text of the article before he/she declared it as not being noteable. You can verify the links on my discussion above that I listed as well as read the original text of the John Greff article - also posted above in discussion. There were no grounds for the article to be deleted. This was a case of DIRTY TRICKS by Master of Puppets to shorten an article and then claim it does not have enough notability. The previous administrator never returned to read my replies to him. PLEASE RE-POST the John Greff article as it clearly satisfies both notability and verifiable reliable sources. People with no knowledge of B-movies and B-movie film makers should not edit or delete pages like this. Master of Puppets is either a person I had a falling out with or else an associate of that person as these "payback" deletes were 24 hours after the falling out happened with this computer savvy vindictive person.

Decline reason:

He removed the material that you had copied directly from imdb, because it was copyrighted material and not yours to publish. That's what any editor would have done. The evidence of notability is not in the text, it's in the sources. You are blocked because you created extra accounts to try to stack the discussion. Pretending that you are four people is lying, and even if you haven't yet read all the Wikipedia rules, I'm certain that you knew that lying is wrong before you even joined Wikipedia. Master of Puppets unfairly deleted the John Greff article and now did the same with The Drunken Dead Guy article. I was not aware of the rule against having 2 accounts on Wiki. (I had 2 accounts, NOT 4 as per the last comment. That is why I am blocked.) More importantly, some of the links to the John Greff article were deleted by Master of Puppets as well as some of the text of the article before he/she declared it as not being noteable. I am NOT talking about the plot (which was posted all over the internet BEFORE it was posted on IMDB and is NOT copyrighted material). Master of Puppets deleted text descriptions which included what made the articles notable as well as some of the external links. PLEASE CHECK THE DIFFERENT EDITED VERSIONS OF THE PAGE!! You CAN'T edit a page to make it less notable and then claim the article is not noteable. You can verify the links on my discussion above that I listed as well as read the original text of the John Greff article - also posted above in discussion. There were no grounds for the article to be deleted. This was a case of DIRTY TRICKS by Master of Puppets to shorten an article and then claim it does not have enough notability. Administrators are NOT checking this carefully as the content that was deleted by Master of Puppets went far beyond the plot listed in IMDB. PLEASE RE-POST both the John Greff article AND The Drunken Dead Guy article as BOTH clearly satisfy both notability and verifiable reliable sources. People with no knowledge of B-movies and B-movie film makers should not edit or delete pages like this. Master of Puppets is either a person I had a falling out with or else an associate of that person as these "payback" deletes were 24 hours after the falling out happened with this computer savvy vindictive person. A person with no knowledge of B-movies should NOT presume to be qualified to make such edits and delete decisions.

I've compared the article you wrote with the version after User:Master of Puppets removed the material you'd copied from other sources. The primary claim to notability for the movie "The Drunken Dead Guy" is that it marks the first screen appearance of Bill Hinzman. Another claim to notability was the links to supporting sources: in this case, they were:
  • IMDB- not considered a reliable source that would confirm notability, since IMDB's standards of inclusion are much broader than Wikipedia's.
  • A review at BloodyDisgusting, which is the best source you have, but which doesn't say anything that might lead a reader to think that this movie is significant for anything other than that it was produced for very little money and looks like it, and apparently is being distributed by the people who made it.
  • A review at b-independent which actually says that this movie is not notable, but a self-distributed DVD interesting only for its poor quality.
  • An episode of BlogTalkRadio, a source which does not meet Wikipedia's reliable source guidelines.
  • An interview which would be a useful source of information, but is not, in itself, a verification of notability.

On the other hand, we have the notability criteria for films. As far as I can determine from reading the sources you have provided, this film does not meet any of the criteria of a notable film as listed there- it has not been nationally distributed, it has not been reviewed by two or more nationally known critics, it has not been reviewed in significant sources five years after its release, it has not won any major awards for excellence, it has not been selected for preservation in a national archive, it is not taught in any accredited university courses or film schools, it does not represent a unique achievement in film, and it does not feature significant involvement by a notable person. If I'm incorrect, and this film has indeed met one or more of the notability criteria for films, I'd be glad to help you appeal the deletion, but I'll need a reliable source confirming that the film meets that criterion. -FisherQueen (talk · contribs) 19:49, 29 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I'm actually a little puzzled- the article says that this movie is Bill Hinzman's first film appearance, but our article about that actor says that he made several movies before this one. -FisherQueen (talk · contribs) 19:55, 29 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Request reason:

The following is to clear up a matter with Fisher Queen. Since I am blocked, this is the only way I can contact this administrator. I am not abusing the unblock template, but need to discuss an article with Fisher Queen. The following message is for Fisher Queen only: The article does NOT say it was Bill Hinzman's first movie appearance. The article states it was the first time Bill had dialog when playing a zombie. Bill Hinzman did have a significant role in The Drunken Dead Guy (he was like an advisor to the DDG on living as a zombie and had an 8 minute scene, more screen time in DDG than any other character except the DDG himself) and Bill is a notable person. Night of the Living Dead is a horror classic and Bill's face is famous as he is the first Romero zombie ever to appear on film as he was in the opening 20 minutes of that film (plus some later scenes). Bill is a permanent fixture in the horror convention circuit and toured the world with the original cast plus George Romero in 2008 for the 40th anniversary of NOTLD. This should all be easily checked through Google searches. I would appreciate any help with The Drunken Dead Guy article. THANKS FOR TAKING THE TIME TO DISCUSS THIS WITH ME!

Addendum for FISHER QUEEN: Besides playing the character of "The Experienced Zombie" in "The Drunken Dead Guy" movie, Bill Hinzman also called in on an internet radio interview to help promote DDG. (This is further "significant involvement by a notable person".)Sec4dr (talk) 06:37, 30 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

One further addendum for FISHER QUEEN: All of the article's external links confirm "significant involvement by a notable person", that person being Bill Hinzman.

To show Bill's notability, here is a link for an October 2009 convention with 41st anniversary NOTLD appearances including Bill:

Info on a 2008 Texas appearance for 40th anniversary of NOTLD:

There's even a Bill Hinzman action figure!

Sec4dr (talk) 07:11, 30 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, I agree with you that the Bill Hinzman connection is this film's best claim to notability, but because Hinzman's own notability is rather marginal, you'll need even better sources. So what you need is a reliable source that discusses the whole thing- Hinzman's importance to the genre and his importance in "The Drunken Dead Guy." I don't think such a source exists-- yet. But important movies just get more important with time; it's entirely possible that some horror historian will write a book about Hinzman's career with a chapter about this movie, or an essay in a horror magazine discussing how this film was the crowning achievement of his career, and that that just hasn't been written... yet. If you wanted to be really clever, you could even research and write such an article and submit it to the editors of such a magazine. It's been a long time since I was connected to that scene, is Fangoria still in print? Seems like just the right place for such an article. -FisherQueen (talk · contribs) 12:17, 30 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]
