  • I understand you want the quotes but I really don't think they belong there. I was the person that created her page months ago, and then again when she was on ITV1 (The Mint). I knew the page would return as there is now no argument for it to be deleted. The removal of the quotes would not jeopardise the page. Maybe shorten them to a list of about 4 or 5. I really think there are too many. Plus, she doesn't use half of them any more. --Mr.bonus 15:18, 8 July 2006 (UTC)
Anyway, thanks for getting it back. I wrote about 3 pages in MS Word with arguments why there is no reason for its deletion. I was going to list this in the disputes section and try to get it back myself but now I don't have to. Did you create a new article and ask admin to approve it? I needed at least one other person to back me up to get around the spiteful behaviour of the admin that removed it the second time. At least the page is finally back after all this time. Thanks again for saving me more trouble. --Mr.bonus 15:41, 8 July 2006 (UTC)
Hey mate. Good job with the Kat Shoob article. I wanted someone to archive the debate and remove all the junk from her talk page, but I'm not to good at doing stuff like that in Wiki. I just thought I'd tell you that I put a redirect for Cat Shoob as many people think that is her name. Thanks again! --Mr.bonus 17:03, 23 July 2006 (UTC)

Portsmouth Squad Box

  • Hi, no idea where you are getting the info for the squad box from but it is incorrect. As of today no squad numbers have been confirmed and James Keene is on a season long loan in Sweeden. Nuttah68 19:30, 10 July 2006 (UTC)
    • The squad numbers on the official site are not current. The 4 shirt was allocated to Andres D'Allesandro in January, not Viafara. James Keene spent last season on loan (and is until December) and was not allocated a shirt number. Nuttah68 19:40, 10 July 2006 (UTC)
      • Calm down, what attitude? I am merely pointing out that the information you are using is incorrect, something Wikipedia strives to avoid. As I said originally, there are no squad numbers at this moment and this site should reflect that rather than contain information that is out of date, and in places (Viafara), wrong. If you must use the numbers, this contains the squad numbers from last season showing who was wearing the 4 shirt, http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Portsmouth_F.C.&oldid=52115282. Tim Cahill

Hi, will you please explain why you have removed the link to the Millwall History Files, which was updated in August 2006 and replaced it with a link that is two years old? Cahill's fee was disclosed, it was £1.5 million. Best wishes, Lion King 12:10, 7 August 2006 (UTC)

Fair point, BBC Sport has it at £2million, The South London Press at £1.5 Million! Who knows? The true amount will prob. never be announced - good work by the way. Be Lucky,Lion King 14:11, 7 August 2006 (UTC)

Why is Delron Buckley in the History of Everton?

Firstly, I apologise for not consulting about a big deletion. However the material is already in the detailed history, (and it shouldn't be there either). We have already recognised that keeping the subject of Everton F.C. to a single page is impossible. The history on the main page can therefore only have the main events since 1878 but I cannot believe the signing of Delron Buckley is one of them. More detailed material must be put into specialised articles by creating summaries of each season. I suggest that an article is created called Everton F.C. 2006-7 season and we start adding similar events. Brief summaries of a season can go into the History of Everton F.C.. Delron Buckley can make it to the main page when he scores a hat-trick in the 2008 Champions League final. JMcC 07:57, 16 August 2006 (UTC)

OK I have created a section called 'Recent news'. This title should be an incentive for it to be regularly updated rather than the summarised history just expanding indefinitely with ephemeral material. JMcC 16:25, 16 August 2006 (UTC)

Everton F.C. FA Nomination

Good luck with the Everton F.C. nomination, I'm sure the hard graft you've put in will give the article every chance. veila# 04:07, 24 August 2006 (UTC)

It's much better with the new images. I still want to do some extra tweaks and a final going-over before approving, but it's getting late so I'll do tomorrow (Friday), hopefully. Qwghlm 23:00, 24 August 2006 (UTC)
Hmm, the only instance of the Evertongood image that I can find on flickr is Attribution-NonCommercial-ShareAlike 2.0. The NonCommercial precludes its use on Wikipedia. Occasionally people express concerns about granting featured status to articles with potential copyvios in their history. I would suggest that the best course of action would be to try and contact pikesville through flickr and request the image be released under Attribution-ShareAlike 2.5 instead. This way there can be no potential copyvio in either the history or the current version. veila# 05:08, 25 August 2006 (UTC)
Done the copyedits I wanted to do - once these copyright niggles are sorted I'll definitely change my vote to support. Qwghlm 10:58, 25 August 2006 (UTC)

First, congratulations on the outcome. It all seemed to go very smoothly and was featured remarkably quickly. With regards the front-page submission:

  • I think the photo is a bit weak as it isn't really identifiable as relating to Everton (the MUFC submission used the club's crest as an example)
  • The repetition of "football club" and "founded"/"founder" makes the opening a little cumbersome
  • The sentence about "management team of" includes only Kendall's name, which is fine, but that would make it "management team headed by"
  • "They have not won a major honour since..." is very negative, consider; "Their last major honour was the..."
  • "They have been in the top flight longer..." implies that this is true for all clubs the world over (which is actually quite possible, but I wouldn't be confident making that claim)

I would suggest using this as an opportunity to sing the praises of Everton on the front page of the wiki. Since it's only a lead-in, it doesn't have to be balanced, as long as it's all true and correct. Highlight the things that are most notable about Everton; Dixie Dean, years in the top flight, trophies won, Champions League foray and even the link to Liverpool FC. Having said all of that, you've certainly earned the right to cherry-pick (or totally ignore!) my suggestions on this, the FA happened only because of the efforts you put in. veila# 10:42, 31 August 2006 (UTC)

Chelsea F.C.

Hi. I reversed your change to the article (switching the Stadium and History sections). I agree that it looks a bit awkward not having the history section first, but the club's history starts with the stadium, namely they were created to fill it. I think it should stay as it is for the sake of continuity. Regards. SteveO 23:44, 25 August 2006 (UTC)

Fair use rationale for Image:Ma05f01.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:Ma05f01.jpg. The image description page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.

You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Orphaned fair use image (Image:Dixiecity.png)

Thanks for uploading Image:Dixiecity.png. I notice the 'image' page currently specifies that the image is unlicensed for use on Wikipedia and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable under fair use (see our fair use policy).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Fair use rationale for Image:Everton crest.PNG

Thanks for uploading Image:Everton crest.PNG. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Unspecified source for Image:Everton crest.PNG

Thanks for uploading Image:Everton crest.PNG. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, then you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, then their copyright should also be acknowledged.

As well as adding the source, please add a proper copyright licensing tag if the file doesn't have one already. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self-no-disclaimers}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Fair use, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the image is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the image will be deleted 48 hours after 20:38, 17 May 2007 (UTC). Non-free use disputed for Image:Ohmygodronson.jpg

Warning sign This file may be deleted.

Thanks for uploading Image:Ohmygodronson.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content carefully, then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies for fair use. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted within a couple of days according to our Criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot 00:49, 2 July 2007 (UTC)

Replaceable fair use Image:Andyjon.jpg

Replaceable fair use
Replaceable fair use

Thanks for uploading Image:Andyjon.jpg. I noticed the 'image' page specifies that the image is being used under fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first fair use criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed image could reasonably be found or created that provides substantially the same information. If you believe this image is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the image description page and edit it to add {{di-replaceable fair use disputed}}, without deleting the original Replaceable fair use template.
  2. On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace the fair use image by finding a freely licensed image of its subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or a similar) image under a free license, or by taking a picture of it yourself.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our fair use criteria. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that even if you follow steps 1 and 2 above, fair use images which could be replaced by free-licensed alternatives will be deleted 2 days after this notification (7 days if not used in an article), per our Fair Use policy. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BJBot (talk) 07:28, 10 October 2008 (UTC)

Proposed deletion of Michael Byrne (football manager)

A proposed deletion template has been added to the article Michael Byrne (football manager), suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process because of the following concern:

I can find no Everton manager of this name. Google search reveals no information to suggest Michael Byrne has ever managed any club.

All contributions are appreciated, but this article may not satisfy Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and the deletion notice should explain why (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised because, even though removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, the article may still be deleted if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria or it can be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. Orphaned non-free image File:Everton FC Crest.png

⚠

Thanks for uploading File:Everton FC Crest.png. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of "file" pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Skier Dude (talk) 08:27, 7 December 2009 (UTC)

Everton FC FAR

I have nominated Everton F. C. for a featured article review here. Please join the discussion on whether this article meets featured article criteria. Articles are typically reviewed for two weeks. If substantial concerns are not addressed during the review period, the article will be moved to the Featured Article Removal Candidates list for a further period, where editors may declare "Keep" or "Delist" the article's featured status. The instructions for the review process are here. YellowMonkey (new photo poll) 00:42, 23 August 2010 (UTC)

The article Dax Hoogerwerf has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Non-notable footballer who hasn't played a fully professional game.

While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{dated prod}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. The speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. J Mo 101 (talk) 15:16, 27 October 2010 (UTC)

Disputed non-free use rationale for File:Evertonfirstfacup.png

Thank you for uploading File:Evertonfirstfacup.png. However, there is a concern that the rationale provided for using this file on Wikipedia may not meet the criteria required by Wikipedia:Non-free content. This can be corrected by going to the file description page and adding or clarifying the reason why the file qualifies under this policy. Adding and completing one of the templates available from Wikipedia:Non-free use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your file is in compliance with Wikipedia policy. Please be aware that a non-free use rationale is not the same as an image copyright tag; descriptions for files used under the non-free content policy require both a copyright tag and a non-free use rationale.

If it is determined that the file does not qualify under the non-free content policy, it might be deleted by an administrator within a few days in accordance with our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions, please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you. Mosmof (talk) 01:38, 8 November 2010 (UTC)
