Recreating a Page Similar to the Previously Deleted Page with the Name "T-Low Badman Alahji"

Hello Seraphimblade,

I recently recreated a page called "T-Low Badman Alahji" that is similar to the one you deleted. The information from Wikipedia says I should contact you so here I am. I believe the article follows Wikipedia guidlines and standards and I would appreciate a review of the article and any guidance you may be willing to give.

Thank you.

Zedpedia (talk) 08:52, 24 June 2022 (UTC)

Zedipedia, since you have been engaged in writing promotional material, please first clarify if you are being paid or compensated to edit Wikipedia, including being asked or expected to do so as a duty of employment or internship. If so, you will need to make the required disclosures before we proceed. Seraphimblade Talk to me 09:08, 24 June 2022 (UTC)
I have not been engaged to write promotional material nor am I emoloyed to do so. I have devoted my time to writing about the people of note in my country. Everything I write is based off research and facts supported by the most reliable sources in my country. If there are paragraphs or lines that you think violate Wikipedia policies then kindly highight those so I may change them. Rejecting everything written in the same tone with the same references as other longstanding pages without highlighting the actual problem is not helpful. Kindly help me here. Zedpedia (talk) 11:38, 24 June 2022 (UTC)
That is...an interesting assertion that you're not connected to this individual, given that you apparently took this photograph, a close-up, clearly posed photo of this individual, at an awards ceremony, and another photo apparently taken on the stage at a performance. Care to explain how you took those photos, given that lack of connection with this individual? Seraphimblade Talk to me 13:08, 24 June 2022 (UTC)
Thank you @Seraphimblade. I could tell you that in my research I follow the notable people in my country, taking pictures and interviewing them to enrich my insight but that was not the case, and so that would be false. In honesty, that aspect in the pictures is my wrongdoing. Those are non-copyright pictures available to the public that I mistakenly chose the wrong licensing for when uploading. I am not here to promote anyone or to claim that you are treating me unfairly or that there is a hidden agenda somewhere against me and/or against new editors, no! I am here genuinely seeking your help to make my Wikipedia writing better. Zedpedia (talk) 13:49, 24 June 2022 (UTC)
Then, you will certainly need to correct the "Source" field on those images, to reflect the actual source (and if the license is wrong, that needs to be corrected too; it is a big deal if potential reusers are misled about license terms). That aside, I see that Athaenara has already given you some good advice, and I see little purpose in me essentially repeating it—you must avoid "talking up" and fluff adjectives, and write articles strictly neutrally. I also am rather astonished that you thought it was a wise idea to move the article back to mainspace yourself after it was declined by AfC; let us say that was not the right thing to do there. Additionally, now that I look more at the article itself, I find at least one blatant source falsification—the article makes the statement T-Low followed this up with a remix in January, 2016, which featured Zone Fam's Jay Rox and pushed T-Low to the public eye. In 2017 Chef 187 enlisted him for "Complicated" on his 3rd studio album "Amnesia"., which is sourced to this: [6]. That reference does not confirm any of those facts. Misrepresentation of references is a very, very serious thing indeed, so you had better make very sure, in the future, that if you use a reference to support a claim, it does in fact directly confirm the claim. Seraphimblade Talk to me 15:39, 24 June 2022 (UTC)
Very well said, @Seraphimblade:. – Athaenara 15:50, 24 June 2022 (UTC)

Rame Lahaj

Hi, I see you deleted Rame Lahaj despite my comment that I would be working on improviming it and addressing the concerns raised. Could you help me recover the material since I had already put significant work in it? Thanks --Arianit (talk) 16:56, 24 June 2022 (UTC)

Arianit, no. While I normally do not restore advertisements, the article also contained copyright violations, so any "recovery" is absolutely out of the question. You can try again, ensuring not to do any cut-and-paste copying and staying strictly neutral. Seraphimblade Talk to me 17:28, 24 June 2022 (UTC)
References took significant work, throwing it all way is discouraging of further work. The subject is notable, you may verify this yourself. I will go through the draft process and wait for other Wikipedians to post it. Arianit (talk) 17:34, 24 June 2022 (UTC)
If all you want is the references, I can give you a list of those. But I cannot restore copyright violating text; in addition to being against our policies that is literally against the law. Seraphimblade Talk to me 17:36, 24 June 2022 (UTC)
I would like private access to the material. Arianit (talk) 08:33, 25 June 2022 (UTC)
The answer was "no", and will remain "no" regardless of how many times you repeat the question. I have offered you that I will provide a list of references, and if you would like that I will do so. I will under no circumstances give access to copyright violating text, privately or otherwise. Seraphimblade Talk to me 09:05, 25 June 2022 (UTC)
@Seraphimblade, sorry for interfering but are you sure you're using the correct tone to communicate your ideas in this conversation? I do have the feeling the message can be explained in a plainer manner without utilizing over-assertive notes which can serve as incentive to further complicate the situation. Being WP:civil and using WP:etiquette can go a long range to avoid the conflict boards. - Klein Muçi (talk) 18:25, 25 June 2022 (UTC)
I will speak plainly when needed, thank you very much. You, of course, are welcome to speak however you want, but I do not appreciate being told how to. Seraphimblade Talk to me 18:29, 25 June 2022 (UTC)
Again, especially as an ex-arbitrator and a well-experienced editor, I would invite you to revalue the way you're (continuing to) participate in this conversation. We're all volunteers of the same project, sharing more or less a single mission. Running towards disputes which can easily be avoided serves no one and especially doesn't benefit the project as a whole at all. - Klein Muçi (talk) 18:37, 25 June 2022 (UTC)
This would be the problem. I have told you, once, that I am not interested in what you have to say. I will now tell you that more firmly. Above, the individual had already received an answer to their question, and continued repeating it, leading to a more firm version of that answer. When someone continues repeating themself after already having been answered, it is sometimes necessary to be more firm, and I will continue to do so. Seraphimblade Talk to me 18:56, 25 June 2022 (UTC)
Above, assuming this is really the start of the conversation, the individual did receive a terrible first answer in terms of ethics and civility.
Arianit, no. While I normally do not restore advertisements, the article also contained copyright violations, so any "recovery" is absolutely out of the question.
Those 2 sentences could have easily been reworded more shortly in the matter of: I'm sorry but I can't agree to recover it as it did contain copyvio.
Surely, as you've already told, it's not my job to copyedit your sentences and you take full responsibility - and by the looks of the continued repetitions, pride - in your arguments but that doesn't make it seem anymore right in terms of the aforementioned concepts.
If Arianit was actually a newcomer this would be a blatant case of WP:BITE and I would go on further making an official complain about it after the failed attempts to reason on the tone of the conversation. The only reason I'm inclined to not proceed with it further is because we're talking about 2 rather experienced editors and I don't have much context on what actually happened with the article itself before it got deleted. Some comments, warnings and concerns are mentioned in the first comment of Arianit all of which I know none of. - Klein Muçi (talk) 04:34, 26 June 2022 (UTC)

Request to restore deleted article

Hello Seraphimblade,

My article [Sundance College] was deleted by you recently. I would like to request that the article be restored so that I can make the appropriate changes to it. It was not deleted for any copyright violation and can be improved by changing the content to a more neutral point of view, deleting the extra external links, etc. I welcome your suggestions and input. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Jaz van (talkcontribs) 15:07, 5 July 2022 (UTC)

Jaz van, you had been involved in making and remaking that article into an advertisement for quite some time and had an interest in only that, so it seems quite clear to me that you are being paid or compensated to edit Wikipedia, or that at the very least you have a substantial conflict of interest. You're going to need to clarify what's going on there before we proceed. I note, for example, that on 4 May 2022 another editor removed the inappropriate "financial aid" external link and converted it to a wikilink, and then by the next day you had put back the inappropriate link. Hello editor, why did you delete the discussion page? I put an explanation there! please review! Soberano Sauron (talk) 20:01, 6 July 2022 (UTC)

Soberano Sauron, while you claimed on the talk page you were not being paid to edit, it is clear that you have a close connection to this individual. Please clear up what the conflict of interest there is before we proceed. Seraphimblade Talk to me 20:09, 6 July 2022 (UTC)
oky, I am a friend of the person quoted in this article and did it because he wanted a page on wikipedia for him, and as his company and large and quite sought after in gogole decided to write an article for him on wikipedia in exchange he would give me some bonus, but I did it in good faith, I promise not to do this more, you can please look at the sources of references? I did it because I like to edit, but I did it because he is my heart friend, I hope you understand my side! So I ask you to reconsider the article, and so we can reach a conclusion. :) - Soberano Sauron (talk) 20:22, 6 July 2022 (UTC)
No, I will not "reconsider". The article was an advertisement, and I do not undelete advertisements. If you are editing for pay (which a "bonus" would be), you must, first, make the paid editing disclosures. These are mandatory, and if you continue to edit without making them I will block you from editing entirely. Secondly, you must create the article as a draft and request review by articles for creation, as per our conflict of interest and paid editing guidelines. You may attempt recreating the article as a draft for AfC review, not in mainspace, after and only after you have made the mandatory paid editing disclosures. Seraphimblade Talk to me 20:35, 6 July 2022 (UTC)
But the article is not an ad, it is an article that talks about the person and his company!, And also as soon as I moved it to the main space it was revised by the editor @Bruxton!, Greetings - Soberano Sauron (talk) 20:51, 6 July 2022 (UTC)
I have already answered you. That answer will not change. You may either make the paid editing disclosure and recreate the article as a draft, or you may refrain from editing about the subject entirely, including continuing to discuss it. Seraphimblade Talk to me 20:53, 6 July 2022 (UTC)
Ok I understand, sorry for the inconvenience on my part, so could you do me a favor if you could? could you move the content of this article to my draft page so I can submit it this time right for review? because I don't have the content saved! thanks and good contributions. Soberano Sauron (talk) 21:00, 6 July 2022 (UTC)
Let me be perfectly clear. If your next edit is not to put the paid contribution disclosure on your user page or a request for assistance with doing so, I am going to block you from editing. Disclosure is mandatory, and you may not make any edits regarding a subject you're being paid or expect to be paid for, including discussing it, if you have not disclosed as required. You need to do that now. Seraphimblade Talk to me 21:09, 6 July 2022 (UTC)
and how can I do this, add my own user page? Soberano Sauron (talk) 21:13, 6 July 2022 (UTC)
ready, I have already added the notice to my user page, now what? Soberano Sauron (talk) 21:22, 6 July 2022 (UTC)

Hello all. It was borderline case but I paid attention to the articles in the Atlanta Journal-Constitution and Forbes new York. Also the company he started: Urban Fêtes had some coverage.AJC. Perhaps it can be a draft for the editor after they make a disclosure about a COI? Thank you much. Bruxton (talk) 21:24, 6 July 2022 (UTC)

Urban Fetes isn't notable and it's a long term paid editing target by a serial UPE firm. Forbes New York isn't even legitimate. PRAXIDICAE🌈 21:26, 6 July 2022 (UTC)
Thanks @Praxidicae: The article had a promotional looking photo and I did a reverse image search, and did not find another, so I thought perhaps the editor knew the person. Bruxton (talk) 21:48, 6 July 2022 (UTC)
The urbn fetes, makes silent parties, and is already much sought after on gogole, I ask you to search and see that there are several sites that point to the name of the brand, and that google images has basntante images ask you to take a look. Soberano Sauron (talk) 21:34, 6 July 2022 (UTC)
see some information here: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5. Soberano Sauron (talk) 21:45, 6 July 2022 (UTC)
I don't restore advertising content, and am not interested in social media sites; those are not reliable sources. (Also, it is not a "brand", that's marketese—it is a company or a product). However, if you would like a list of the references used in the deleted article, I would be willing to provide you those. Seraphimblade Talk to me 22:22, 6 July 2022 (UTC)

Undeletion request of Attaullah Tarar

Hi Seraphimblade, I'm here after recent development (well not very recent, 3w old) of Attaullah Tarar being given portfolio of Home Ministry in Punjab province of Pakistan.[1] Thus qualifying WP:NPOL. I'd request you to restore the last page of him, as notability was only argument behind deletion. Thanks AHatd (talk) 13:55, 8 July 2022 (UTC)

References

  1. ^ "Punjab Govt gives portfolio of Home Minister to Attaullah Tarar". Latest News - The Nation. Retrieved 8 July 2022.
Ahatd, the argument was also advanced that this individual does not pass the notability guideline, not just "NPOL", and I'm afraid one brief blurb doesn't overcome that. Are you able to demonstrate that there is a substantial quantity of reliable and independent reference material available about this individual? If so, can you please post the best three examples of such references? Seraphimblade Talk to me 18:42, 8 July 2022 (UTC)
Thanks for your response Seraphimblade, I don't think I'll be able to produce some best WP:THREE, but is it really important even after WP:POLOUTCOMES results, NPOL and more specifically note 13 on NPOL. Thanks. AHatd (talk) 19:49, 8 July 2022 (UTC)
Sorry, but afraid not. If you can't demonstrate notability yet, it's too soon to be considering that. If more and better material is written about the individual going forward due to their new position, obviously that can be looked at again then at that point. Flag about an edit

Hi, Seraphimblade. In 2019, you closed a discussion which led to a TBAN prohibiting me from making edits related to the Knights of Columbus. There have been two or three occasions since then when I have made related edits, and I've notified you each time for transparency's sake. Today was another such occasion. This comment was left on my talk page. Though I don't think it falls under WP:BANEX, I briefly responded so as to not be rude. I thought someone should know, and wasn't sure where else to turn. Thanks! --Slugger O'Toole (talk) 16:23, 14 July 2022 (UTC)

Slugger O'Toole, while that is probably in a hypertechnical sense a violation of the topic ban, it is also not something I'd be at all inclined to make a fuss over. Seraphimblade Talk to me 21:45, 14 July 2022 (UTC)

Coups

FYI I borrowed some of your phrasing.[7] Anythingyouwant (talk) 18:00, 18 July 2022 (UTC)

Anything: Is the applicable word "borrowed", or did you mean to say "appropriated? This is not the view you tookl on the article talk page where Seraphimblade chose to engage, and your message here came not after your "borrow", but after the wording was appropriately reverted. SPECIFICO talk 20:59, 18 July 2022 (UTC)
Borrowed, appropriated, whatever you like SPECIFICO. It occurred to me later that I ought to let Seraphimblade know, as a courtesy. Please don’t try to make it into some sort of bannable offense. Moreover, I suggest Seraphimblade not participate in the relevant discussion at the article talk page, unless he’s sure it would be appropriate. Anythingyouwant (talk) 22:35, 18 July 2022 (UTC)
I will participate in any discussion I would like to, thank you very much. Your reuse of something I said does not bother me, but it certainly does not affect whether I will or should continue to discuss the matter. Seraphimblade Talk to me 00:58, 19 July 2022 (UTC)
Good. If I inadvertently violated some rule by my first comment in this section (as SPECIFICO seems to suggest), I’m sorry. It was just meant as a courtesy. Anythingyouwant (talk) 01:30, 19 July 2022 (UTC)

AE: words limit, canvassing

Hello, please instruct me, if you can, about how I should deal with the report at AE now under discussion. I'm a relatively young editor and I've never partaken in such a procedure. In particular, I'd like to have some information on the two following points.
1. Words limit. It is very difficult to abide by the 500 words limit because most of the allegations are related to content disputes and, in order to adequately address them, I need to provide substantive arguments and sources. I see that the other parties to the procedure (such as MVBW and Volunteer Marek) have abundantly exceeded the 500 words limit. Does that limit only apply to me or also to the others? I've just tried to cope with the word limit rule by creating a "closet", following MVBWìs example. In the closet, I'm replying to MVBW's allegations one by one. Is this well done and acceptable?
2. I think that Volunteer Marek has done some canvassing in that page by pinging all the editors who had expressed in the past negative views on my editing. I've expressed this concern of mine there at AE but no admin replied. Am I wrong? Could Volunteer Marek do what he did? If that was not properly done, how should I react to User:Elinruby joining the case? He was pinged by VM. Should I reply to his comments (and where?) and should his comments even be there?
Thanks, Gitz (talk) (contribs) 07:40, 20 July 2022 (UTC)

I am generally sympathetic to requests from the respondent to a case asking for an extension to the word limit, and those can be granted, but nearly 2200 words is rather excessive, even with that. That said, if you would like to discuss the AE request, please do so at AE, not my talk page. Seraphimblade Talk to me 09:00, 20 July 2022 (UTC)

Dmitri Cherniak deletion

Following up on your speedy deletion for the page Dmitri Cherniak.

I’ve read both the page deletion guidelines and the notability guidelines.

I am not paid nor employed by the subject though I have met them in the past, as I’ve met many artists in this space. If pages like Xcopy meet the notability guidelines, I don’t see how Cherniak does not qualify.

I made every effort to source every claim in the article to independent sources.

If work could have been done to improve the page, that’s a useful note I would have taken. As such, the speedy delete to me seems a hasty reaction to a top modern artist whose work you seem to simply not know about but has been shown in large global shows and with a corresponding sales record.

Would appreciate clarification before I attempt a resubmition or a bio of a similar artist.

  • "Promotional writing"--seemed clear enough to me. Don't forget to log in. Drmies (talk) 19:49, 24 July 2022 (UTC)

“Promotional writing” is certainly clear as a rationale, but I don’t know what’s found objectionable without some sort of note. Most of the article was written as a standard list of works and sales. I included a note from ArtNet, an industry source, on Cherniak’s work and cited it - is that inclusion enough to trigger promotional concerns? It would seem like some sort of critical response should be included. And why delete the entire work rather than that single line, if that’s the case?

(Logged in - thanks) Drflet12 (talk) 20:05, 24 July 2022 (UTC)

Drflet12, firstly, to be perfectly clear, promotional material is removed. So no, it's not a "hasty reaction", it's how we prevent Wikipedia from being used as a free digital billboard. (And you're even talking promotionally about him here—"top modern artist" indeed.) And remember that other stuff exists is never a valid argument. That aside, the article starts out with fluff (His best-selling work ("best-selling" according to what reliable and independent source?), something that wouldn’t be out of place hanging on a wall in MoMA’s permanent collection, only invested with the unpredictable flukes and rarities that make generative art so addictively collectible. (from a source that sells art, so I'm rather doubting that this is independent anyway, as they stand to gain from pushing his stuff—but regardless, quotes like that might go in a "Reception" section if from an actual independent source, but never in the lead section.) Several other links are to "OpenSea", and are direct links to a page selling his stuff (if I have to tell you why using pages selling his stuff as "reference" links is completely inappropriate, I think we're at the "lost cause" point), and many of the rest are to very poor, unacceptable sources like Medium and tweets, making it look like an attempt at reference bombing. As another example (note this is by no means an exhaustive list of the problems, by the way), another section contains inappropriate fluff quotes like in the tradition of Andy Warhol's Marilyn, or perhaps even more so Chuck Close and a lucid look at what a pop icon looks like now and how she is interpreted—from, again, a blurb on a sales site. Sites selling his stuff are not independent, as they stand to gain from pushing his stuff, and shouldn't be used. Basically—if a substantial quantity of sources which both meet our standards of reliability and are entirely independent of him have written a substantial quantity of in-depth material about this individual, stick to neutrally summarizing what they say, skip the fluff quotes from people selling his stuff, and make sure the article doesn't take a tone of "Look how neat this guy and his stuff are!". If that type of source material doesn't exist, this individual is not an appropriate subject for an article at all. Seraphimblade Talk to me 21:38, 25 July 2022 (UTC)

Very helpful feedback - thank you. I know your point in writing this was to slam back a bit too, but it is actually helpful - my intent in linking to things like Opensea pages was more to substantiate a given statistic, rather than lead to any sort of sale, but I can understand how it can be seen in that light. Linking to gallery pages was similar. I’ll be more judicious with sourcing and summary should I attempt a resubmission and on future articles. I appreciate your explanation. Drflet12 (talk) 22:12, 25 July 2022 (UTC)

On the speedy deletion on the accompanying photo - the photo is mine and Crunchbase apparently added their own copyright to my image. I can prove the original is part of a series I took, if there’s a means to do so. Drflet12 (talk) 22:16, 25 July 2022 (UTC)

The image is on Commons, so that's a separate thing. The notice I left on your talk page over there should contain instructions for how to send in proof that you are the copyright holder to VRT. Seraphimblade Talk to me 01:01, 26 July 2022 (UTC)

page deletion Azevedo

Hello Seraphimblade, I am possibly the main contributor to the page Mateus Soares de Azevedo that you deleted on July 15 with the comment G11: Unambiguous advertising or promotion. I understand your decision and I would like to rewrite the page. Could you please restore it and give me a few days to do the necessary amendments? If not, could you copy it in my sandbox [8]? Thank you, João Brum2021 (talk) 20:08, 20 July 2022 (UTC)

João Brum2021, as you have been writing promotional material, please first clarify if you are being paid or otherwise compensated to edit Wikipedia, including being asked or expected to do so as a duty of employment or internship. If so, you will need to make the required disclosures before we proceed. Seraphimblade Talk to me 00:49, 21 July 2022 (UTC)
Seraphimblade, I am not at all "paid or otherwise compensated to edit Wikipedia", nor "being asked or expected to do so as a duty of employment or internship". Best, João. João Brum2021 (talk) 21:33, 21 July 2022 (UTC)
Thanks for clearing that up, though I find it rather interesting you call yourself the "main contributor" to the article when all you did was add a spam link to some "World Wisdom" site. That aside, I do not undelete advertisements, but if you would like a list of references used in the deleted article I will give you those. I'm afraid, though, that there weren't many of them at all, and they were to things that this individual wrote, rather than what reliable and independent sources wrote about him as necessary to demonstrate notability. If you were to try creating the article again, it would need to be a full biography based upon such reliable, independent source material, not just a bibliography of stuff written by them. If substantial quantities of such reference material does not exist, the individual is not an appropriate subject for an article at all. Seraphimblade Talk to me 22:33, 21 July 2022 (UTC)
Concerning "possibly the main contributor" I understand you are astonished: I was thinking of the original Portuguese page to which I contributed under an IP before opening an account. Thank you for offering to provide me with the references but, as you say, they will not be very useful. On the other hand, if you would agree to provide me with the Infobox and the Bibliography, it would save me a lot of reconstruction work. First I intend to rewrite the Portuguese page, then, on this basis, the English page. When this one will be finished, and before posting it, I hope you will accept to give me your opinion. João Brum2021 (talk) 16:21, 26 July 2022 (UTC)
As I have already stated, I do not restore material from advertisements. I've already advised you regarding the issues with the English article; the page on the Portuguese project is really nothing to do with us here, as that project will have their own policies and practices. Deletion of page Tsumyoki

Hello Seraphimblade I'd like to know more about why the page was deleted under the tag of "advertisement" also if you could restore it, I might be able to put the advert tag and get help from other contributors in having the page fixed Rejoy2003 (talk) 03:17, 30 July 2022 (UTC)

Rejoy2003, as you have been involved in writing promotional material, please first clarify if you are being paid or compensated to edit Wikipedia, including being asked or expected to edit as a duty of employment or internship. If so, you will need to make the required disclosures before we proceed. Seraphimblade Talk to me 03:28, 30 July 2022 (UTC)

No I'm not paid or compensated, I believe I'm doing this voluntary Rejoy2003 (talk) 03:30, 30 July 2022 (UTC)

I see. I do not restore advertisements, so the answer to that is "no". As to why, to start with, we've got misrepresentation of a reference in the very first sentence, which was: Nathan Joseph Mendes (born 2001 or 2002) known by his stage name Tsumyoki (pronounced "sue-ma-yoki") or Yoki is an Indian rapper, lyricist, singer, producer and sound engineer from Goa, India. That was "sourced" to a Spotify link featuring his music (it is inappropriate, in and of itself, to generally ever link to that), but in addition, the reference ([9]) does not confirm a single one of those facts. If you use something as a reference, it must confirm each and every fact you claim it to. I will hope that this time was some kind of error, but falsifying or misrepresenting reference material is grounds to be blocked from editing. The next line has two references; one is to Times of India, which is a questionable source but could be okay for something like this which does not deal with a government matter, and one is to YouTube, which is almost always (including in this case) unacceptable. Next: He's the first Goan artiste to be signed by a record label and also the youngest member from Gully Gang Entertainment (don't use fluff terms like "artiste", it is "artist"), and then shortly thereafter, I find another reference falsification—the claim is His stage name; Tsumyoki means vision, productivity and a positive mindset. One "source" cited is that Spotify one, which doesn't confirm anything at all, and the next cited is this one ([10]), which says nothing whatsoever about the meaning of his stage name. Then, we have stuff like His track "Pink Blue" (2022) featuring Bharg has garnered over 620K views on YouTube, Tsumyoki has over 2.7 million channel views on his YouTube Channel (that's just "sourced" to YouTube; unless some reliable and independent source confirmed that as significant, it is meaningless fluff and should be omitted), As of July 2022, Yoki has released over 25 singles, 1 EP and 4 albums with over 100K monthly listeners on Spotify. (see above), next sentence is yet another YouTube citation for some fluff award...and it just goes on and on like that; that is a sampling of the problems, but by no means an exhaustive list of them.
I see you've already had repeated warnings on your talk page, for everything from violating copyright to writing non-notable material to previous issues with promotional content. I am about a hair away from blocking you at this point, since now we've got falsifying sources added on top of all that. I would very, very strongly recommend that, until you develop more skill at editing, you create any new article as a draft and request review from articles for creation rather than trying to create it in mainspace yourself—you are very clearly not ready to do that yet. If you create one more inappropriate article, or absolutely if you falsify or misrepresent a source again, it is very likely you will be blocked. Seraphimblade Talk to me 03:54, 30 July 2022 (UTC)

Uh you might wanna check ref 3 again it does mention his stage name meaning also as it does in the Spotify page Rejoy2003 (talk) 04:08, 30 July 2022 (UTC)

Alright, it looks like in some non-searchable text, the Spotify link does have him talking about what his name means (though, we'd still probably want to say that it's what he states it to mean, if it's just from him.) However, it does not clarify anything regarding all of his claimed occupations or the like (I suppose one could state that it's reasonably confirmed that he's a "rapper" and "singer", but nothing about him being a lyricist, producer, or sound enigneer.) Seraphimblade Talk to me 04:15, 30 July 2022 (UTC)

Also it's not only about the Spotify link. You should check stuff carefully before typing replying. There's an article too I cited where he stats the meaning about his name in an interview. And talking about his other professions like "sound engineer" thats not what I replied you back for. This is solely for what his name meant Rejoy2003 (talk) 08:45, 4 August 2022 (UTC)

AE

Hi Seraphimblade. I don't have space to comment in AE. Could you please explain to the user that repeated spouting of false and unfounded information isn't accepted on Wikipedia, certainly in AE? There was a single IP from Germany using most likely dynamic IP address, so it shows as a range. And not sure what is with the "sockpuppet" speculation and how it's related to their edit-wars even of yesterday (see 12 August), with no "3 IPs" present. And what "patrolling" has to do? All the edits were introduced by them since 12 August, and the edit-wars as far as I understand, were happening over their own edits. This follows the same scenario as other articles examples I reported zenzyyx edit-warring over. I think if the user has any concerns, they should've opened an WP:SPI. Certainly diverting attention to a single IP (granted as you note it also should be blocked or page protected) when they were edit-warring even prior to the IP isn't helpful, certainly in AE, and doesn't address their actions. ZaniGiovanni (talk) 16:46, 13 August 2022 (UTC)

To keep things in one place and available to everyone reviewing, I do not discuss open AE requests outside of AE. Seraphimblade Talk to me 17:18, 13 August 2022 (UTC)

Alireza Daryaei

Hi Seraphimblade, I am new at AfC. My reason for signing up was to pass articles about notable, encyclopedic subjects that are stuck in the backlog. I was thinking about nominating Alireza Daryaei for AfD when some of the WP:NMUSIC criteria looked borderline. Because the guideline itself states that it requires interpretation, I was considering AfD. When I saw you deleted it as G11 I panicked, thinking that I must have made a mistake and tagged it incorrectly. As an administrator I'm sure you reviewed it yourself before deletion, so I am relieved the error is not too significant then. I just don't want to make any careless mistake by placing the wrong tag on others contributions. Spudlace (talk) 08:51, 15 August 2022 (UTC)

Spudlace, this page was nominated for speedy deletion by Praxidicae, who, while not an admin—well, probably should be one, and regardless, she is very rarely wrong. You didn't tag it. In this case, the article was essentially "profile" type spam. So it's not a big deal; please just take a little more care in checking what you approve. Seraphimblade Talk to me 12:41, 15 August 2022 (UTC)
I get what your saying. "Cooperated with Iran National Orchestra" is not the same as being a soloist with the Orchestra. It's a challenge to check up on Iranian sources when you don't read Farsi, but they don't look very reliable. I can try G11 next time, if that's preferred to piling them up at AfD, or just leave them waiting. I don't feel that I'm an adequate judge of what is unambiguous promotion (maybe later). I was motivated to sign up to pass the non-spam history and science articles that have been waiting for weeks. Spudlace (talk) 14:31, 15 August 2022 (UTC)
Or you could not accept them if you can't evaluate the sources - you can also use google translate but the problem was also that at least one of the sources that was used to source a substantial part was a dead link that never existed in the first place. There were several other issues but I'm not going to get into that. You don't have to accept any draft, you can leave it for someone else if you don't feel that you can adequately judge or review it. PRAXIDICAE🌈 15:02, 15 August 2022 (UTC)
@Praxidicae: Yes, I may have made a mistake on letting that one through. What do you think of this other one I wasn't sure about Muhammad Iqbal Abdul Rahman? Spudlace (talk) 15:21, 15 August 2022 (UTC)

Restoration of KZEW 98FM (speedy deletion)

Perhaps THIS is the appropriate place for this. Wiki is not my realm, I just was filling in a knowledge gap there.

This should not be difficult. There are two issues. A page which was deleted that was NOT promotion. About that promotion angle - My listing was for a defunct station, but there are many that are currently on air among Wiki pages. Here's a similarly historic radio station that is actually currently broadcasting. Their page is similar to mine, a history of the station.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/WQAM

and another

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/WWKB

and another

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/KCBQ

The only difference with those acceptable pages is that they tell you what they are doing TODAY (promotion?) I wrote in the article that KZEW 98FM went off the air in 1989. Do I need to be more clear in the text? This is simply no promotion to be had, although the station does have many fan pages on FaceBook where people share memories and pictures.

The contested images used are all in the public domain and can be verified as such. The TRADEMARK for KZEW [1] was assigned in 1985 and declared dead in 1992 - 30 years ago. There are no trademark issues, and that is the key issue in all of these stickers. COPYRIGHT is easy to search : [2] and there are none registered. Even if they had been registered, there is no corporation to renew them.

Radio typically never did much to protect materials like this prior to the modern era. I have been in the business for 48 years and it just wasn't part of practice until the 2000's.

SO - the images are all in the public domain, there are no copyright / trademark issues here. That's the legal aspect of this. You can check my name Gimarc, you will find that I have many copyrights, several trademarks and even a pair of US Patents. I kinda know my way around these issues. How about releasing it all - it was a righteous, encyclopedic entry on a station 30 years in its grave. Reelgeorge (talk) 14:59, 19 August 2022 (UTC)

Reelgeorge, I've already discussed the Commons issues with you at Commons. So far as the article, material like set the tone of album rock for the next thirty years in the area, believed by many to be the best. (these are inappropriate editorializing and puffery), You could have heard (don't use second person or address the reader), WFAA-FM will become KZEW-FM (for items in the past, use past tense, so "became"), below that were several inappropriate fluffy pull quotes, and the article went on and on like that. Articles must be strictly neutral in both tone and content, stick to facts verified by reliable and independent sources, and contain no editorializing, needless puff adjectives, or "talking up". In this case, it read much more like a tribute than a neutral encyclopedia article, and that's not acceptable. In addition, the article substantially lacked reliable sources altogether, "citing" only Billboard charts. Similarly, section headers should not be bolded beyond use of the standard heading, and headers such as "THE SECOND ACT", "THE BIG SHIFT", and so on are inappropriate. In a chronological presentation like that, headers should only reflect an actual time frame (such as "1986-1991"), not a colloquial term for it, and should be in standard sentence case, not all caps. Seraphimblade Talk to me 15:36, 19 August 2022 (UTC)
So what now? You didn't leave it in any place to be edited. It didn't cite Billboard charts, it cited articles in Billboard magazine, an industry standard. Do you want other industry magazines to cite timeline events? The articles gave me the ability to pull quotes from articles presented at the time about the station. This is all pre-internet, so there are few sources for this stuff. Much of this stuff could be fixed with guidance, but a wholesale trashing of it was a bit over the top. I don't live in this world, I am not quite sure how you do things here. I just run a radio network, write books, release records, unearth lost recording for labels... that sort of thing. I was just trying to do a kindness for my friends who worked at this station and still kinda live in the past. How do I reconstruct this in some area where you can look over it to see if it passes your judgement? And it's OK to use the public domain illustrations, right? So....what... now ? Reelgeorge (talk) 15:05, 21 August 2022 (UTC)
The illustrations are not public domain, at least not demonstrably so. (Though there are a couple which were not creative enough to be copyrightable to begin with; if you mean those, yes, those are fine. Though don't editorialize about them by calling them the "worst ever" or the like.) A demonstration of notability would generally require more than one source. For new editors, I always strongly recommend writing a new article as a draft and requesting review by articles for creation; doing a new article appropriately from the very first is quite challenging. But basically, make sure you just stick to facts that sources verify, present them in a neutral tone and fashion, and don't add any of your personal knowledge not verified by sources, opinions, or commentary. (If a reliable source discusses something about how something was received or perceived, discussing that reception is okay, but present it in the form of "X stated that Y was seen as...", not "Y was seen as...".) Basically, when you write an article, no one should ever be able to tell what your thoughts, as an editor, on the matter are. It should just be a summary of what the best available sources say about the subject. Seraphimblade Talk to me 16:06, 21 August 2022 (UTC)

Why wasn't page Yitzchak (Irving) Breitowitz given a chance?

The page Yitzchak (Irving) Breitowitz page was deleted within hours of being created. Why wasn't it given a chance to be corrected?? Bloger (talk) 01:41, 19 August 2022 (UTC)

Bloger, as you have been involved in writing promotional material, please first confirm if you are being paid or compensated to edit Wikipedia, including being asked or expected to do so as a duty of employment or internship. If so, you will need to make the required disclosures before we proceed. Seraphimblade Talk to me 01:42, 19 August 2022 (UTC)
Of course not. No one asked me to write anything let alone pay or cospeciate me. Look at my editing history. Bloger (talk) 01:46, 19 August 2022 (UTC)
I see. Then going forward, please ensure that any material you write is strictly neutral, and sticks to facts verified by reliable and independent sources. In this instance, the entire article was "talking up" this individual, as well as promoting their stuff. As some examples (but by no means an exhaustive list of the issues): David was born in Krosno, Poland, the son of Moshe and Rachel Leah Breitowitz... (the article is about him, not his parents; an entire section about that is superfluous), After the War (don't ask me why, but it would be "after the war", and I see an inordinate amount of advertising articles with inappropriate capitalization of random words), Eliezer was the... (same again, article is about him, not his family), Rabbi Breitowitz was... (this continues throughout the article; it would be "Berkowitz", not "Rabbi Berkowitz". Do not use titles such as "Rabbi"; use an individual's first and last name on first mention and last name only, without any title, on subsequent mention), and then in the "Personal qualities" section (which is rather inappropriate to begin with): has lectured extensively ("extensively" according to what reliable and independent source?), written and published extensively (see previous), and then there are twenty-three external links. Do not use any external links within article text. If an article subject has an official website, include one external link to that website at the bottom of the article in an "External links" section, and no others. That, like I said, is just an example of the problems, and by no means an exhaustive list. Wikipedia articles must not in any way "talk up" or promote their subject; only neutrally summarize facts contained in reliable and independent sources about them. Do not in any way editorialize. Seraphimblade Talk to me 02:02, 19 August 2022 (UTC)
I appreciate your time. I recognize the issues you raised. I had at least some of them corrected. The majority of the others were simple to rectify, therefore I questioned why I wasn't given the opportunity to do so. I made an effort to create the page as closely as possible to other such pages; for instance, I took the title "Personal qualities" from another page. Family information is another thing that is frequently found on wiki pages. Can anything, however, be done right now? Can the page be restored if I address the issues you mentioned?Bloger (talk) 02:29, 19 August 2022 (UTC)
I do not restore advertisements. However, if you would like to try again, I can give you a list of the sources that were used in the article. Let me know if you'd like those. Seraphimblade Talk to me 05:15, 19 August 2022 (UTC)
Thank you very much for your time. I have the source list . I redid the page and tried to addressed all the concerns you raised and some more that I could identify as possibly problematic. My question is if I can republish the page or would that be a violation of the Wikipedia rules since it was previously deleted? Bloger (talk) 21:46, 25 August 2022 (UTC)
It is generally my recommendation that newer editors, when creating articles, use the draft and articles for creation review process. When created directly in mainspace, an article is expected to be mainspace-ready from the first edit onward (and that's challenging to do), whereas in draft any issues brought up by reviews can be addressed over a much longer time frame. But that is a recommendation, not a requirement. Seraphimblade Talk to me 00:07, 26 August 2022 (UTC)

Article Rewritten

Hi, thank you for your comments on the draft Draft:Eugenio_Zuccarelli. The text has been rewritten and should now provide an unbiased and neutral perspective of an encyclopedic entry. It would be very much appreciated if you could review it. Thanks again for all your work! — Preceding unsigned comment added by Stanleycosgrovejr (talkcontribs) 21:07, 30 August 2022 (UTC)

Stanleycosgrovejr, you already have the draft in for AfC review, so that will happen in due time. That said—why is it that so many articles include inappropriate capitalization? Here, for example: specializing in Artificial Intelligence, Big Data and Analytics. None of those terms should be capitalized. It should read "artificial intelligence, big data, and analytics". And that's...still a bit muddy and nonspecific, but it would at least be grammatically correct. Seraphimblade Talk to me 21:30, 30 August 2022 (UTC)

Good catch on the image copyright! I went ahead and just removed the profile picture until someone uploads a version with no possible infringements. Learning a lot here. Stanleycosgrovejr (talk) 21:30, 30 August 2022 (UTC)

Also, gotcha, I will change the capitalizations, agree they seem off even though they are Wikipedia topics. Will try and make it more specific. Stanleycosgrovejr (talk) 21:32, 30 August 2022 (UTC)

Request to lift topic ban

On April 2019 I was placed under a topic ban in the ARBPIA area, as shown here, and on 18 August 2020 tried unsuccessfully to repeal my topic ban, as shown here, although given an ease of strictures whereby I was then permitted to edit pages carrying the ARBPIA tag, allowing me to edit on subjects related to pre-1948 Arab-Jewish history, geography, and even on post-1948 culturally related issues, farming, adding photographs, etc., but not to divulge on topics of the Arab-Israeli war, extra-judiciary killings, terrorism, etc. In short, I have been unable to edit in the Israel/Palestine conflict area for more than 3 years! This limited topic ban brought me into trouble on 28 January 2022, as shown here, when I was cited for violating my topic ban by writing “State of Israel” in an article describing Jerusalem, being a set of 740+ outlines listed at Portal:Contents/Outlines. Wikipedia outlines are a special type of list article make up one of Wikipedia's content navigation systems and which Outline makes use of a pre-set format. During this last infraction, where I was remiss in that I did not realize the sensitivities felt by part of the community at using the words “State of Israel” when requested by the format of the same article to list the name of the government under which the city of Jerusalem lies, I beg your forgiveness. I should have known that writing such, under my limited topic ban, would elicit a response. At the time, however, I honestly did not think that I was stepping beyond the limitations of my topic ban by mentioning the name of the government over the city, as it is not the same as saying I support that government’s actions. Moreover, I did not even initiate the edit, but the format in the article called for the name of the government, and I felt obliged to fill-in the void. Now that I realize my misstep, given the limited topic ban that I was under, and how that I should have been more sensitive to this issue, I am asking for another chance to help improve this worthy encyclopedia and to renew editing in the ARBPIA area, without limitations. As everyone can see, my limited topic ban created some confusion as to where to draw the line. Altogether, I have been under the ARPBIA area topic ban for 3 years and 3 months, with only this one infraction. Removing this topic ban completely will allow me to:

1) Edit lists, such as Wikipedia:WikiProject Palestine/Books, which I have been wont to do in the past.
2) Edit Historical pages, such as City of David (historic), and King's Garden (historical), among many others, which I have been wont to do in the past.
3) Upload images to Historical pages, which I have been wont to do in the past, such as Dayr Aban, Khirbat al-Tannur, Kafr 'Inan, and many others.
4) Help with showing how certain place-names have changed in this country (Israel/Palestine) because of the 1948 and 1967 wars, such as what I did in the article Hebraization of Palestinian place names.
5) Engage with other editors in the ARBPIA area on matters of Wikipedia policy and of maintaining a neutral point of view (NPOV).
6) Give Wikipedia the unique experience of research conducted by an Israeli editor that has access to rare books in the Israeli public libraries, books that treat on the Arab-Israeli conflict and its past wars, government decisions taken in those wars, etc., the history of Al-Aqsa Mosque, as well as of Muslim institutions in the country, subject matters not otherwise known or readily had by editors who do not live in this country or who do not have access to its libraries

Having the opportunity to edit anew in these important fields will be commensurate with the good judgment and magnanimity of Wikipedia editors, who were kind and considerate with other editors who had made similar mistakes in the ARBPIA area, some blocked and some banned for their offences, and, yet, were permitted to return to edit in this category.

We say in Hebrew: האהבה מקלקלת את השורה‎ = (paraphrased) “He falls into folly who loves [a thing] too heartily.” I guess you can say that my love and enthusiasm for this project sometimes override my better judgment. Still, we all learn from our mistakes.

We all have a certain base of experience which lends itself to certain topics, as well as a certain background which lends itself to our perception of different things. As editors, we can neutrally convey those binary opinions to our readership, without trying to advocate a certain political or ideological cause, in accordance with Wikipedia’s policy that prohibits WP:ADVOCACY, such as by trying to sway public opinion one way or the other. And while the Arab-Israeli conflict has possessed many of our dear friends and fellow co-editors so fully of the subject, perhaps also those who level their harsh criticisms against me, I can assure you that what my opinion is on this subject can have but the least consequence upon any of the living, since I am not interested in aggravating an already bad situation, and because I truly love both peoples.

And while I am an Israeli and I share a common fate with the people of this country, this does not mean I cannot have empathy towards my fellow Arab citizen whenever he is oppressed. I hereby give my reassured commitment to good editing on Wikipedia, and with full compliance to Wikipedia's policies. Asking for another chance. We’re here to serve and I've come to miss editing in the fields that I love the most.Davidbena (talk) 22:30, 31 August 2022 (UTC)

Davidbena, while I am not categorically opposed, this is a combination of several different sanctions, and I do not have the authority to unilaterally overturn a community sanction. So, if you would like reconsideration of the sanctions currently applicable to you, I think it best if you ask for that at the administrators' noticeboard for community consideration. Request for reversal on speedy deletion of Jackson Premium Outlets (A Simon Center)

Hello @Seraphimblade,

I hope all is well. You deleted my article on Jackson Premium Outlets about a week ago, after another reviewer reversed their prior speedy deletion. The previous cited (G11: Unambiguous advertising or promotion) and (A7: No indication of importance (people, animals, organizations, web content, events) was made by user @Athaenara. For more context on the conversation I had with this interviewer on why I personally object to these two reasons for deletion, please see attached to their talk page in the subcategory "Jackson Premium Outlets (A Simon Center)": [1]

The TLDR would be that; 1) I am open to any feedback on improving the article so that it complies to the 'neutrality' framework (improvements in which the previous reviewer had already implemented prior to your deletion) in presentation, 2) I think the existence of said article is warranted, not a promotional dump, and 3) The article is about a real place with a regional influence to its local economy, that is notable enough to warrant the existence of a Wikipedia article. The previous reviewer had been convinced by my argument and the article was reinstated, just for it to be quickly speedily deleted again by yourself.

I wanted to reach out to you directly, as it was suggested upon the guidelines for requesting an undeletion, that reasons like the one cited G11, are ought to be addressed directly to the reviewer specifically. I was not aware if you had this prior information or not in regard to the deletion of the article and reversal of that article beforehand, hence why I felt best to to attempt to explain.[2] "If you feel an administrator has erred in closing a deletion discussion or in applying a speedy deletion criterion, please contact them directly." I hope you now have the full context, and I genuinely do hope the article could be reinstated (this was one of my earlier Wikipedia articles I wrote over a year ago, and I put a lot of my heart and soul in writing it).

Thanks for your time.

Regards,

Freeholdman12. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Freeholdman12 (talkcontribs)

Freeholdman12, a lot of this stuff has prior deletions; it's in no way unusual. So, aside from the inappropriately promotional language and puff terms ("premier", "success", "high-end", etc.), and the massive and inappropriate laundry list of stores ("stores", by the way, not "brands"; "brands" is marketese), let's start from what will ultimately matter the most. As it stood, the article's list of "sources" were one brochure issued by the organization itself, two irrelevant sources by other nearby businesses which don't even mention this subject at all, and the organization's own website. Those are not reliable or independent (and in two cases, not even relevant). In order to demonstrate notability, it is required that multiple reliable, independent sources which directly discuss the subject in reasonable depth exist. Those weren't even close. Does such source material exist about this organization? If not, it's not an appropriate subject for an article at all. Seraphimblade Talk to me 22:19, 7 September 2022 (UTC)
Hello Seraphimblade,
I've already addressed that such puff terms can be deleted. That would be an easy remedy.
For list of stores, I was following along this particular template of an Outlet Mall from Wrentham Village Premium Outlets, which has a list of notable brands at that particular outlet location. If you think this is too wordy, this is also something else that can also be easily edited.
As for lack of 'independent sources', here are some that do mention the outlet: [3], [4], [5], [6], Would you like more?
Best,
Freeholdman12 Freeholdman12 (talk) 22:36, 7 September 2022 (UTC)
That's not great, but at least better. So, given your effort there, I'd be willing to restore the article to a draft, if you agree to submit the article through articles for creation rather than just placing it in mainspace yourself. Would you be willing to agree to that? Seraphimblade Talk to me 06:16, 8 September 2022 (UTC)
Hello, yes that can be done. Thanks again! Freeholdman12 (talk) 11:46, 9 September 2022 (UTC)
Just submitted the revised article through the link you provided. However, I'm a bit concerned on the lapse of time, as it seems it would take a minimum of 4 months before the article is even reviewed. Considering that I had already technically created this article before and I have seemingly fixed the issues that were addressed, is there a way that this process could be expedited? Freeholdman12 (talk) 14:16, 10 September 2022 (UTC)
That's more of a maximum than a minimum. It doesn't generally take that long. No, there is no "expediting"; someone will get to it at some point. You'll get a notice once they do, so you can certainly go on to something else in the meantime. Seraphimblade Talk to me 14:28, 10 September 2022 (UTC)

your close seems wrong, you had a misunderstanding

In your close of Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/The Slievecallan windfarm you seem to have had a misunderstanding. You said "if a list-article is created" but in fact there is, there already was, a list-article: List of wind farms in the Republic of Ireland. So close should be merge to that, not redirect to the town. And I would appreciate if the merge instructions include what I recommended in the AFD, that the permits history stuff be included in the Notes column of the list-article's table. I spent some time improving the list-article earlier, but did not set up a row for Slievecallan; it does need to be added (merged). --Doncram (talk) 07:33, 20 September 2022 (UTC)

Doncram, if you'd like to merge it there and change the redirect to that, please feel free to do that. Seraphimblade Talk to me 08:14, 20 September 2022 (UTC)
Okay, i will implement the merger, so you don't need to set up merger instructions etc., but will you please change the close to say "merge" to that list-article. --Doncram (talk) 08:32, 20 September 2022 (UTC)
No. I already said in the close that if anyone wants to do that, they're welcome to. So do that if you want to, or don't. Seraphimblade Talk to me 08:39, 20 September 2022 (UTC)
Hey, your close reflected clearly a misunderstanding. I happen to think closing to the correct outcome between merge vs. redirect, and making other distinctions, matters. Please just change it, i don't want to make this bigger than it needs to be. Or, if you don't mind, I will just undo the close, okay? --Doncram (talk) 08:46, 20 September 2022 (UTC)
I do mind. The answer was "no", and will remain no regardless of how many times you repeat the question. Seraphimblade Talk to me 13:20, 20 September 2022 (UTC)

I am wondering why was the page deleted at this point already when there was only 1 delete comment after many sources were located unknown to the previous delete voters. After those sources were located the only other people that commented were the original nominator and another person who did not vote(yet). Also an earlier participants requested to be pinged but had not responded yet. Gazozlu (talk) 12:31, 2 October 2022 (UTC)

Gazozlu, it looks like the editor who had requested to be pinged was, and didn't come back to update anything. They don't get an unlimited amount of time to respond, nor, of course, are they required to at all. Two other editors had looked at the sources and found them to still be lacking. In this case, the clear consensus was that the article does not clear the notability bar, including with the additional reference material you offered. Seraphimblade Talk to me 12:35, 2 October 2022 (UTC)
Thanks, although it is not resoundingly prominent in the history of one-off sports tournaments. I can still reasonably imagine that on occasions there would be people looking up what the "Crocs Challenge Cup" is/was and then find the wikipedia page about it and be able to read about what it was. So I'm kind of sad that it got deleted and feel like the sources I found were slightly under-considered, also maybe because save for one source they were all in foreign languages and a a bit tricky to judge. This subject is relevant to researchers interested in IP law, emerging material for artists, and "folk" internet culture. Leandercapuozzo (talk) 07:18, 6 October 2022 (UTC)
This is probably not the place, then. Wikipedia articles should be about subjects which are notable; that is, which have a substantial amount of material about them available from reliable and independent sources. Articles must also be strictly neutral, sticking only to facts that those sources verify, and not editorializing or "talking up" anything. Also, all source material should be published; one's own personal knowledge is not an acceptable source for an article. If your objective is to document your own recollections and impressions, a different venue such as a personal website, a forum about this subject, or the like would be an appropriate venue. That wouldn't be allowed here. Seraphimblade Talk to me 09:20, 6 October 2022 (UTC)
And I should be entirely clear: While some cryptocurrencies, like Bitcoin or Ethereum, are notable, the vast majority are not. Seraphimblade Talk to me 09:22, 6 October 2022 (UTC)

Interestingly, the speed with which you removed this article did not allow contribution from the wider community to add reliable and verified references. While you as an editor may think my original paragraph may not be to standard it simply was a starting point. Should we not be allowed more than a few minutes to work on a draft? Your editorializing on the important projects in the crypto space reads as boilerplate. Please allow us in the community to work on a draft. There are verifiable and important events which need to be recorded on this article. Leandercapuozzo (talk) 11:49, 6 October 2022 (UTC)

You are welcome to try creating a draft again, if you want to. But it cannot include any promotion, or the exact same outcome will occur. Promotional material is not permitted anywhere on Wikipedia, including in drafts, and is speedily deleted. Seraphimblade Talk to me 11:54, 6 October 2022 (UTC)

Deletion of Godson Umeh (Jeweler) page

@Seraphimblade I'm curious as to why the page was already deleted at this point given that I was already fixing and had removed the said promotional material the article in question is about a well-known jeweler, with all due respect in many of the sources I listed, he is prominently mentioned. These are not just "a few mentions" articles. Beckyrose233 (talk) Beckyrose233 (talk) 17:33, 11 October 2022 (UTC)

Beckyrose233, the article was still promotional, even after your edits. In addition to that, the community has made a determination at a deletion discussion that this individual was not a suitable article subject. So, at least at this time, it's time to stop trying to write about this subject and move on to something else. Maybe it can be evaluated again after a year or two.
On that subject, I did want to be very clear indeed on something I noticed, specifically that your second attempt to create the article used an unnecessary disambiguation "(Jeweler)" rather than just the individual's name. This is normally an attempt to conceal prior deletion logs, and is a dishonest and unacceptable practice. I have now protected both the original and new title against recreation. Should you once again use unnecessary disambiguation to dodge around that protection, you will be blocked from editing altogether. I hope to be very clear on that so it will not become necessary for that to happen. Seraphimblade Talk to me 17:46, 11 October 2022 (UTC)
@SeraphimbladeAs per the disambiguation "(Jeweler) i used was because i felt it was ok for me to the indicate the occupation of the subject base on google seo issue as i also did the same for Aníkúlápó (2022 film) the said movie because i was having the same issue been difficult to locate on google. With all due respect, the said subject has been featured on top well known Magazine and blogs which includes, Forbes , Punch etc None of what I said is based on feelings. You know most of the sources I provided weren't "a republished press release. Beckyrose233 (talk) 17:59, 11 October 2022 (UTC)
@Seraphimblade Asking me to move unto on to something else doesn't sound right as you can see the number of days i spent on the said article doing my research on the said article. The first one i created was deleted because it lacked in depth sources and not because it contained promotional material which i tried my best to look for more suitable cite link. Beckyrose233 (talk) 18:07, 11 October 2022 (UTC)
If you really insist on trying again, you can't do that in mainspace due to the protection, but you may create a draft and request review by articles for creation. Should AfC approve a draft, I will then unprotect the title for them to create the article. But for clarity, you may not directly create it in mainspace, nor move the draft to mainspace yourself. Seraphimblade Talk to me 18:49, 11 October 2022 (UTC)
like they always say its never too late to try again i would definitely give it a try (again) after have done more research on the said article please to make things clear have never been paid for edit and I clearly do note collect payment (money) to edit here on Wikipedia as I love to write about things I love which include , Music,Football,Jewelry ,Hiphop ,Movies and so on I will definitely give the article a try again on the draft space as you have indicated soon as am done with my research. Thanks again I really appreciate your effort in trying to hear me out because I clearly believe the subject is notable enough and Wikipedia worthy to appear on main space Beckyrose233 (talk) 09:18, 12 October 2022 (UTC)
"i felt it was ok for me to the indicate the occupation of the subject base on google seo issue"???? We regard SEO as a species of vandalism, and will have nothing to do with it, even the so-called "white hat" variety. --Orange Mike | Talk 18:54, 11 October 2022 (UTC)

Regarding Spinny Wikipedia Page

Dear Author, I (Utkarsh Singh, Senior Manager, CEO’s Office) am writing to you on behalf of Spinny (Valuedrive Technologies Pvt. Limited). I hold an experience of over 7 years in the industry. This email is regarding the recent deletion of Spinny's Wikipedia page on 6th October'2022(Reason- Unambiguous advertising, promotion). We would like to bring to your notice that we have not edited or added any such content from our side & believe it has been done via third party/person. Th deletion of the page is affecting our business & brand image. We request you to consider our plea to make the page live again as none of this activity was from our side. We respect your decision and would be great if we can find out a common solution to this matter. Thanks & Regards UtkarshSpinny (talk) 08:33, 12 October 2022 (UTC)

Hello UtkarshSpinny. So, first, I appreciate you being up front about who you are and what's going on. Please do note that if you want to continue to edit about this subject (including discussing it), as an employee of the company, you would need to disclose as a paid editor using the method specified at that link. You would probably also benefit from reading the guidance on editing with a conflict of interest. That said, I certainly will not undelete the prior material there, regardless of who did or did not write it, as it was heavily promotional and Wikipedia does not permit promotional material. I have had to protect the page since the spamming at that page title has been going on since as far back as 2015, so I'm afraid that will need to remain the case as well. If the company passes our notability standards (and note, most companies don't, and are not appropriate subjects for articles, but some do), someone can write a draft in a neutral fashion from reliable and independent sources, and request review by Articles for Creation. If AfC approves the draft, I would of course unprotect the title to allow creation at that time. But please note that it is not the purpose of Wikipedia to advertise or boost your business, or provide any kind of "SEO" benefit for anyone. If your intent is to promote your business and "get the word out" about it, you will need to use appropriate venues for that such as a business website and/or social media; that won't be permitted here. Seraphimblade Talk to me 10:19, 12 October 2022 (UTC)
Thank you for the prompt reply.
Spinny has been in the market since 2015 with a presence across 22 cities Pan India till date. We have brand ambassadors such as Sachin Tendulkar (Strategic investor as well) and PV Sindhu. Spinny is funded by institutional investors such as Tiger Global Management, Accel Partners, ADQ Abu Dhabi etc. We have been doing paid marketing across platforms time to time and are not open to promote on Wikipedia.
Regarding the spamming, the same has been done by different users and has impacted our page. Wikipedia as a platform is a credible and authentic and since our page had already been established, we would request you to help us in getting it back as we have been questioned by our investors, market experts about the recent deletion which is impacting the brand.
We are ready to provide you with reliable citations and content. Also, I am curious if this spamming happens again after the page is live, we will have to go through the entire process again of setting up this page every time. We need your assistance in solving the matter. How are we going to stop this spamming? Help me out with this as well
Thank you UtkarshSpinny (talk) 13:29, 12 October 2022 (UTC)
I have already answered that. To answer your more recent question, no, if there was spamming on an article which had once had an acceptable neutral revision, it would be reverted to that revision rather than deleted. But that wasn't the case here; it was advertising all the way down (right down to, literally, trademark symbols, which we don't use), so it was deleted. You may attempt creating a draft and seeking review by articles for creation. That is not an easy process, as creating an appropriate new article is one of the more difficult things to do here, but it's the one available to you. Or, if your company does not pass the notability standards (which have nothing to do with how long you've been around, how many markets you're in, who funds you, etc., it depends only on how much source material is available), you can tell your investors that your company, like almost all companies, was not a suitable subject for an article subject at this time. (You're welcome to show them me saying so, if you want to.) If you didn't do the spamming, then, well, I have no way to verify if you did or didn't, but you can always tell them it wasn't at your direction. All I know is that there was spamming; I have no way to know who did it. And, again, while I am not trying to be mean or anything like that, we are not here to help or boost your business, so continuing to tell me about whatever effect that had really does not matter to me. Seraphimblade Talk to me 14:53, 12 October 2022 (UTC)
Spinny has never had a Wikipedia page. There are no company pages on Wikipedia, not a single one. There are articles on a number of notable topics, including notable companies. We are not a "platform" in the social-media sense of the term, we are an encyclopedia. And as my colleague Seraphimblade has already said, we do not care one whit about your marketing strategy or your position in somebody's mindspace; and we regard SEO as a species of vandalism, and will have nothing to do with it, even the so-called "white hat" variety--Orange Mike | Talk 18:09, 12 October 2022 (UTC)

Thoughts?

Hi Seraphim,
I noticed this online link[12]. This might result in more disruption in the cesspool known as WP:AA2 and WP:KURDS.
Google translate: ""The first spark was ignited in order to correct and organize the unfounded claims we have seen on Wikipedia recently. r/turkviki was established. Let's get organized from there."

Another link:[13]
Google translate:[14] "Friends, this subreddit was founded on the termination of unfounded claims made on Wikipedia. Our aim is to put an end to the unfounded allegations made on Wikipedia, the propaganda activities targeting our country and nation, to express the truth and correct the mistakes."
Google translate of one of the comments:[15] "we need a larger audience, salaried employees of wikipedia, and I don't know how effective we can be against the current Turkish hatred"
- LouisAragon (talk) 19:53, 12 October 2022 (UTC)

LouisAragon, that kind of off-wiki stuff happens frequently, and usually doesn't amount to much except maybe a couple of protections. You can keep an eye on it to see if they intend to target particular articles, and if so pop those onto your watchlist. (If you want to let me know if that's the case, that's fine; I'll put them on watch too.) Seraphimblade Talk to me 03:12, 13 October 2022 (UTC)

Question

My question to you is whether or not a person, like myself, who is banned from editing in the ARBPIA area, can still make suggestions in the Adminstrators' noticeboard, or in Village Pump, on topics that may affect the ARBPIA articles? -Davidbena (talk) 02:40, 13 October 2022 (UTC)

Davidbena, unless you are directly defending yourself from an accusation raised there, no. You are banned from the topic, regardless of where it comes up. Stay away from the topic completely. Seraphimblade Talk to me 03:07, 13 October 2022 (UTC)

Undeleting Draft:ICandy Interactive

Hello Admin,

I obviously messed up as I am new on Wikipedia. I have read lots of Wikipedia policies, so please allow me to work on a page you deleted last month. I have also declared my connection with the company. I will try my best to work on it without violating Wikipedia policies. Please let me know.

Thank you! Kc-morgenstern (talk) 09:00, 26 October 2022 (UTC)

Kc-morgenstern, I do not restore advertisements. However, the draft has not been protected against recreation, so you can try again now that you have read those policies. Seraphimblade Talk to me 11:25, 26 October 2022 (UTC)

Seeking Assistance Draft: Chirpyest

Hello! I recently submitted a draft and it was deleted. I am new to Wikipedia and learning how to use by reading other articles. Could you please let me know why it was deleted? I am not creating this for promotional purposes. Could you please let me know what part of the article was ambiguous or like an an advertisement? I had edited my article to only include facts about the company. Please let me know when you have a chance! Ekisner828 (talk) 18:51, 27 October 2022 (UTC)

Ekisner828, on your user page, you have used the general "conflict of interest" template. However, this looks a lot to me like a case of paid editing (which includes being asked or expected to edit Wikipedia as a duty of employment or internship). Would that be the case here? If so, that's not forbidden, but "conflict of interest" is inadequate as a disclosure for that. You must specifically use {{paid}}, which will include the mandatory disclosure of who is paying. Seraphimblade Talk to me 19:03, 27 October 2022 (UTC)
Thank you!! I was unaware that I had to place that on my user page. Does everything look correct now? Would you be able to undelete the wikipedia page? Ekisner828 (talk) 19:16, 27 October 2022 (UTC)
Yes, those are correct. I do not restore advertisements. For what the issue is, the material was promotional, in this case "talking up" and basically looking to "get the word out". The lead's actually not too bad, but from there we get to stuff like Shelton created COCOCOZY, a Forbes Magazine ranked interior design blog and lifestyle brand. (not relevant and looks to be trying to "get the name out there", the "Forbes ranked" stuff is a bit puffy, and "brand" is meaningless marketese—is it a company, a product, a blog, what actually is it?), With Chirpyest, Shelton has given the everyday consumer the ability to monetize their content through Chirpyest's sharing tools. (marketese/puffery, and "sourced" to a clear editorial/puff piece), In 2022, Chirpyest was connecting 850 retailers to consumers who wanted to earn cash back. (that "850" number is not confirmed by the cited reference, and again, rather puffy; if that could be sourced, just say that as of 2022, 850 companies use their platform.) Also, it looks like it would be of questionable notability anyway. Source 1 is [16], which is only a brief blurb about it (and I'm also not sure about reliability of that source, but being written by "Staff" rather than a named individual always raises some questions there), the second is Business Insider which is of questionable reliability (see here), the third [17] only mentions it in passing, the fourth [18] doesn't mention it whatsoever (and only very briefly mentions its founder), the fifth [19] is a clear editorial/puff piece so is unreliable, and the sixth is the same one as the first. If there isn't better reference material than this available about the software (directly about it, not about its founder, not about other things they've done), so that there is a substantial quantity of material which is reliable, independent, and cover the subject to reasonable depth, then it is not a suitable subject for an article at all. Seraphimblade Talk to me 19:36, 27 October 2022 (UTC)
This is not a promotional piece. I am simply talking about the company and stating what Chirpyest does. The quote you pulled, "Shelton created COCOCOZY, a Forbes Magazine ranked interior design blog and lifestyle brand." was backed up by the reference of the Forbes article stating she is one of the top interior design blogs. I was unaware business insider was not a reliable source. Thank you for the source list and I will utilize that in the future. Can I ask why it was deleted instead of explained why it was not approved? Everyone else has just not approved and explained why. It is a lot of work to set up an article as I am learning how to use Wikipedia. Ekisner828 (talk) 21:33, 27 October 2022 (UTC)
I have already explained that, as does the deletion log. Promotional material is deleted. Seraphimblade Talk to me 21:41, 27 October 2022 (UTC)

Zionist Spirit

Hello, I saw that the article was deleted (or redirect to 2022 Israeli legislative election but the history was deleted). I can't find the file of the logo that was in the article, I uploaded it at the time and I want to put it in Ayelet Shaked article. Is there a way to restore the file or to find the name of the file? It was in there article. Sokuya (talk) 19:33, 29 October 2022 (UTC)

Sokuya, the file for the logo was File:Zionist Spirit party logo July 2022.svg. As an unused nonfree media file, it was deleted. It is generally not acceptable to use nonfree logos anywhere outside an article about the organization itself, and certainly not on a biography, so please ensure not to do that. There was also a freely licensed image used in the article, File:The Zionist Spirit - the signing of the agreement.jpg. I don't know if that's useful there, but of course freely licensed media may be used wherever it's relevant. Seraphimblade Talk to me 22:55, 29 October 2022 (UTC)

Seeking assistance and input

Hello Seraphimblade. You recently closed my RfC regarding the Vladislav Doronin article. I understand that my message was not neutral and therefore inappropriate for the forum, and was hoping you might be able to point me in the right direction. For over a year, I have engaged with the Wikipedia community according to the rules for paid editors, disclosing my COI and making edit requests on the Talk page to improve the article. Recently, since August 2022, a newly-opened account has been making numerous disruptive, unencyclopedic changes to the page. What would be the best way to draw attention or assistance to this issue? The article doesn't see much organic traffic; these edits have generally gone unnoticed by the community thus far. Thanks for your help, CharlotteAman (talk) 08:06, 24 October 2022 (UTC)

CharlotteAman, there is no reason you can't file an RfC. You will just need to do so in accordance with the rules for doing so, chiefly that the statement introducing the RfC must be a neutral one (e.g., Should the text "Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet" be included in the article? or Is Example Reference a sufficiently reliable source for the statement "Doe's mother was a hamster and his father smelt of elderberries?"). So, if you think additional comments are necessary, start an RfC with a neutral question. (You can, of course, place your own opinion on the matter as a comment on the RfC.) That said, if you think you have been following the conflict of interest requirements, I think you'd better take another read over them. You have been extensively editing the article itself rather than just making suggestions on talk, and paid editors are not permitted to do that, so that will need to stop. Seraphimblade Talk to me 14:21, 24 October 2022 (UTC)
Seraphimblade, thanks for your help. I realize that I've made some direct edits lately, and don't intend to continue with those... If you take a look at Talk:Vladislav Doronin, you will see that I generally do work with edit requests and discussion, and do strive to operate in a legitimate manner. Having said that, I feel that my hands are a bit tied when dealing with what appears to be a biased editor who has been editing unchecked for months, now. I will place my faith in the system and hope that my efforts to improve the page via discussion on the Talk page will suffice... but I am a bit concerned. Thanks again for your insight, CharlotteAman (talk) 09:49, 26 October 2022 (UTC)
SeraphimBlade, thanks for looking into the recent edits to the Vladislav Doronin article and for your changes. My work continues on the Talk page... and I will reach out if there are any issues moving forward. Thanks again for your help. CharlotteAman (talk) 17:53, 27 October 2022 (UTC)
Seraphimblade, following up on your help with the "puffery" in the Vladislav Doronin article- the same editor recently reinserted the content you removed with a source that seems questionable to me. This is one example, but overall I feel that the tone and detail in the article could benefit from a review, with a focus on the removal of similar puffery. I would greatly appreciate your thoughts, if you have the time to look into the language and sources currently included throughout. I realize that could entail a lot of work, and am happy to create a draft or lay out the issues in greater detail, if that would be helpful. Thanks again for your involvement and input, CharlotteAman (talk) 09:52, 7 November 2022 (UTC)
If you'd like to discuss article content, please do that on the article talk page, so that other interested editors can participate as well. You're welcome to ping me if you like. Seraphimblade Talk to me 04:44, 8 November 2022 (UTC)
Thank you for the suggestion. I have posted on the the article's Talk page and look forward to working with you and the wider community to improve this page and bring it in line with Wiki standards and policies. As this has been an ongoing issue, one I have been addressing for a few months, I would be grateful if you'd consider adding this article to your watchlist and stepping in when appropriate. Thank you again, CharlotteAman (talk) 10:58, 9 November 2022 (UTC)

Diva.exchange

Hello! You deleted my entire article as promotional. I am sorry if it read like that so can you please share a few instances of it which seemed promotional to you? I can then try to rectify it. In your profile you wrote that you "support open source" but behaving destructively towards open source project. Can you please help me on this? Thank you. Queenbyte (talk) 07:36, 7 November 2022 (UTC)

Queenbyte, as you have been involved in writing promotional material, please first clarify if you are being paid or compensated to edit Wikipedia, including being asked or expected to do so as a duty of employment or internship. If so, you will need to make the required disclosures before we proceed. Seraphimblade Talk to me 11:27, 7 November 2022 (UTC)
Thank you for asking. I am not employed by any projects that I have edited here. I work in a Govt. concern which is totally unrelated to my edits here. Please do let me know your any other questions. Thank you. Queenbyte (talk) 07:05, 8 November 2022 (UTC)
Thanks for confirming that. So far as the article, there were some inappropriate parts. As some examples (but not an exhaustive list), operates closely with several Swiss Universities (cited source is just the project's GitHub page, which first is not adequate to support that statement since it is not independent, and secondly doesn't even confirm that anyway), is very strict from an open source perspective ("strict" meaning what, according to what reliable and independent source?), This procedure helps to assure that the software is available globally and without being affected by censorship. (again, according to what reliable and independent source?), One of the targets of Diva Exchange is to create software to securely and privately perform data transfers without a trusted third-party. (this is "Mission" style junk with "Mission" replaced with "targets". We don't care what their "target" is, we care what reliable and independent sources confirm they've actually done), and so on like that. That aside, there is not sufficient sourcing in that article anyway. Even the section which claims to feature "research" cites "sources" to—their own code repository, and a video they uploaded somewhere. There is nothing to indicate that this software has the requisite amount of reliable and independent source material about it to pass the notability standard, and in that case, it is inappropriate to have an article about it at all. Articles cannot just be sourced to stuff an organization has said about itself. So, it looks like this might be one to check back in a year or two and see if that type of source material has been written about it. Also, I will warn you that in practical terms, the community has seen a lot of "get the word out" spamming regarding cryptocurrency/blockchain stuff, and anything written in regards to that area will face heavy scrutiny. That doesn't mean you can't write about that, but if you do, make sure you have everything lined up very well indeed, including sources to demonstrate notability from the first mainspace edit onward. And if that sourcing doesn't exist, you'll have to choose a different topic instead. Seraphimblade Talk to me 18:40, 8 November 2022 (UTC)
Thank you I get it. I appreciate your time for explaining in detail and I will keep that in mind if I create any article next time. For the time being I think I will contribute to existing articles instead of creating any new one specially in the cryptocurrency/blockchain topic. Thank you again for the heads up. Regards. Deletion of useful page

You deleted my page that was not promotional at all, it was factual with credible sources and added details about many personalities that already have approved Wikipedia profile. The goal of the page was to add information for anyone who wants to know more about the subject, nothing was promoted. Thanks for clarifying https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Draft:Dulcedo_Management — Preceding unsigned comment added by Louisphilippes (talkcontribs) 20:33, 9 November 2022 (UTC)

Louisphilippes, as you have been involved in writing promotional material, first please clarify if you are being paid or compensated to edit Wikipedia, including being asked or expected to do so as a duty of employment or internship. If so, you will need to make the required disclosures before we proceed. Seraphimblade Talk to me 21:19, 9 November 2022 (UTC)
I have not been paid for this. I did it on my own time as I thought it would be of interest to the community. I'm a Wikipedia member since 2006, but it's my first article. I feel confident I'm not wasting anyone time by providing quality content on a subject that I researched thoroughly to provide answers hard to find on the internet. Louisphilippes (talk) 16:03, 10 November 2022 (UTC)
Now that I look, in addition to the promotional article, you have also been spamming links to their website as "references". Since you're clearly being dishonest with me, I see no purpose in continuing here. If you want to make the disclosures and proceed, feel free. Add anything else about "Dulcedo" without disclosure, and you'll just be blocked from editing entirely. Seraphimblade Talk to me 20:12, 10 November 2022 (UTC)
Thanks for taking time to review the article and give a fair chance. You say I've been spamming links to their website, but it was reference I could not find elsewhere while doing research and that inspired me to create a page. I understand dishonesty is common online, but this is not a case of dishonesty. I'm a real estate broker passionate about the subject on my free time and I learned a lot on Wikipedia from other notable agency like https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Elite_Model_Management and others. If it is still not qualified after all that, let it be, but I still think this organization have significant coverage from reliable sources. I know they are controversial because they promote plus size models, they signed transgender model and they are LGBTQ friendly so if this is the real reason you deleted the page, please tell me instead of calling me dishonest. Louisphilippes (talk) 09:44, 11 November 2022 (UTC)
I would never delete something for that reason. Insofar as the particular one in question, it used a bunch of promotional language and "talked up" the organization. And do keep in mind that an organization specifically tasked with promoting someone is not an independent source—if no reliable and independent sources took note of something, it's probably not important enough to enter into an article. You must have at one point also gotten very interested in African soap; this isn't the first time you've added a fair number of links to the same place. That aside, it has a bunch of promotional language. It is apparently necessary to repeat "full service" twice in the first two sentences (which is, itself, rather marketese and information-free), The company currently boasts six branches ("has", not "boasts"), Models, Influencers, Digital, Sports + Entertainment, and the newest branches, Gaming (a bit tangential, but none of these should be capitalized, and for whatever reason I often find promotional articles contain a lot of inappropriate capitalization), specifically utilizing Facebook as a growth hack or as Leduc likes to call this strategy “a new school approach" (just note that they used Facebook without all the puffery if sources confirm that as significant, and leave out the pull quote), In 2013, Dulcedo became the first agency in Canada[6] to hold a plus-size model search, kicking off a now industry standard and trend. (the source here was [20], which only briefly mentions the company, does not confirm that they were the first to do that but rather confirms that the model was one of their first ones of that type, and certainly offers no confirmation of them being responsible for "kicking off an industry standard and trend"), With a broader vision, Dulcedo renames from Dulcedo Model Management to Dulcedo Management to better reflect the larger range of talent represented. (marketese), consolidating and growing Dulcedo’s influencer capabilities and to provide clients with turnkey strategies and services. (marketese), and it goes on and on like that. Articles must be neutral in both tone and content, stick to facts verified primarily by reliable and independent sources, and not use puff language or talk up anyone or anything. I suppose, while I will have my doubts, I'll take you at your word for the rest, but when one sees PR-style editing being done about a company which primarily does PR and its clients, well, I suspect you can see exactly what that looks like. Seraphimblade Talk to me 10:23, 11 November 2022 (UTC)
Thanks for your commitment. Yes I agree it seems promotional, I got inspired by what I red online and other Wikipedia page as guideline to keep congruity. By the way you are right about the black soap, I visited the company in Morocco, got a tour of the black soap and organ oil manufacture and it was fantastic experience. Should I declare it when quoting them?? So I'm obviously not a professional writer, but I want to get better and contribute to the community. Should I take time to review and neutralise the content or your mind is set and we should move on and not add this content for anyone interested into diving deep in the subject as I did ?? Louisphilippes (talk) 14:28, 11 November 2022 (UTC)
No, like I said, I was probably a bit hasty earlier in the way it looked, so you can try again if you like. It is possible that the company is notable, so try to find things that would show that (reliable, independent material about it, so not interviews, press releases, stuff on their own website, etc.), and if you can find a good quantity of that, just stick to neutrally relating the facts that those sources verify about it. Non-independent sources like the company's own website or press releases can be used for some rather uncontroversial stuff that wouldn't serve to promote, like who the current CEO is or where their corporate office is located, but should be used sparingly and cautiously. Anything else, just make sure the writing is in a neutral tone. I also strongly recommend for newer editors to use the draft and articles for creation process; writing an appropriate new article is one of the more difficult things to do, and that gives some more leeway if the first attempt isn't quite there. Seraphimblade Talk to me 18:13, 11 November 2022 (UTC)
Thanks for the guidance. I didn't save the page content, and I'm not able to access it since it's deleted. Is there a way to undelete it and convert it into a draft? I will read thoroughly the drafts page process and learn more about draft, because it was a draft and I couldn't find how to summit for review as a draft, the only option was publish page. Louisphilippes (talk) 13:29, 15 November 2022 (UTC)

Request to retrieve deleted material for future reference / improvement for page Draft:MasterSeries

Hi Blade, I was hoping for a response to the request for the retrieval of material that was tagged for speedy deletion, for the Draft page I made for MasterSeries.

I had tried to be as transparent as possible in regards my interest in the company, including only information I believed to be factual but I understand how the draft could have been read without relevant citations and without knowledge of the field, and understand that I fell short of the requirements expected.

I have been doing homework on how to improve the entry in the meantime, and I hope that I can retrieve the deleted material to have another attempt at publishing the page, incorporating feedback, comments and the advice / guidance included.

Thanks, Patmacgin Patmacgin (talk) 09:12, 16 November 2022 (UTC)

Patmacgin, I see that you have placed a "conflict of interest" template on your user page. However, this looks a great deal to me like a case of editing for pay or compensation, which includes being asked or expected to edit as a duty of employment or internship. If that is the case, the "conflict of interest" statement is not sufficient. Specifically, {{paid}} must be used, which will include a field to make the mandatory disclosure of who is paying. If so, that will need to be done before we proceed. Seraphimblade Talk to me 05:11, 17 November 2022 (UTC)

Deletion of software page

Hi Seraphimblade. You've marked for deletion an article about a piece of pcb design software due to "G11: Unambiguous advertising or promotion". I'm surprised at this, as I was expecting any issues to be around notability/referencing. Obviously, I did not feel the text of the article was promotional or I would not have submitted it.

Currently, there is a comparison of EDA software table here and a general overview of CAD software here which are lacking in their representation of the landscape of EDA tooling. Specifically, they list CADSTAR (last stable release 2018) but not eCADSTAR (within support lifecycle). There may be other examples, but CADSTAR/eCADSTAR is the one I know about. I have added eCADSTAR to both of these tables previously; in the case of the former it has been deleted from the table on the basis that there was no article. The article has been vetoed by yourself.

In content and tone, I do not believe that the article was any different to the (currently live) articles for CADSTAR, Altium Designer, or CR-8000 software packages. I don't think it was promotional, but if it was, then these are too.

I'm not trying to be combative here, just trying to correct what I see as inaccurate/incomplete information. I would be very grateful if you can tell me what is needed in order to get these changes approved and see eCADSTAR represented in this list in the same way as the much older (and no longer updated) CADSTAR software?

Thanks in advance - the monkey. Noisylittlemonkey (talk) 13:32, 21 November 2022 (UTC)

Thank you for closing this discussion. Can you explain how you assessed the consensus as "no consensus"? Those advocating for "keep" were unable to present reliable sources that contribute to GNG. BilledMammal (talk) 05:35, 9 December 2022 (UTC)

BilledMammal, there seems to be a substantial amount of disagreement as to what does constitute a reliable source in terms of religious/mythological figures, and whether these sources met it. I might suggest holding a discussion at RSN to answer that question more generally, and then a new AfD might be able to more clearly determine what should happen with this particular article. Seraphimblade Talk to me 05:46, 9 December 2022 (UTC)
Policy is clear on the question of fringe sources; sources that make fringe claims are not reliable. Editors supporting keep would have needed to argue that claiming a religious miracle actually occurred was not a fringe claim, but no such argument was made.
Given this, I think the weight of argument is very clear, and the discussion should have been closed as delete. BilledMammal (talk) 05:53, 9 December 2022 (UTC)
I'm sure you do think that, given that it was your opinion. Still, there was no consensus for that at this particular discussion. Seraphimblade Talk to me 06:03, 9 December 2022 (UTC)
Can you explain how you came to that conclusion - what arguments convinced you that the position that sources that claim that religious miracles actually occurred are reliable and not presenting a fringe claim is a reasonable position? BilledMammal (talk) 06:07, 9 December 2022 (UTC)
I already did explain how I came to that conclusion. Please see above. Seraphimblade Talk to me 06:08, 9 December 2022 (UTC)
Above, you only say that editors disagreed. Because consensus is not the result of a vote, nor does it require unanimity, that doesn't properly explain how you came to the conclusion that this discussion had no consensus.
This is why I am asking what arguments convinced you that it is reasonable to assert that sources that claim that religious miracles actually occurred are reliable sources. BilledMammal (talk) 06:17, 9 December 2022 (UTC)
As I said above, that has already been explained to you. Keeping repeating the question won't get a different answer to it. Seraphimblade Talk to me 06:28, 9 December 2022 (UTC)

Since you closed

Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Noodle (character) rather than relisting, can you elaborate in there on arguments on both sides? I am not sure if this should go to DELREV, but for now your closing comment is, well, non-existing... Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus| reply here 08:30, 13 December 2022 (UTC)

Piotrus, the discussion had already been relisted twice, and both sides had argued their case, with opinion staying relatively evenly split. Neither side had poor or invalid arguments, and it was unlikely that a third relist was going to have any different result. So, it was a clear case where no suggested outcome had achieved a consensus behind it, therefore "no consensus". I do not see any need to leave a closing comment in such a clear-cut case. Contentious topics procedure adopted

You are receiving this message because you are subscribed to updates on the Arbitration Committee's discretionary sanctions review process.

The Arbitration Committee has concluded the 2021-22 review of the contentious topics system (formerly known as discretionary sanctions), and its final decision is viewable at the revision process page. As part of the review process, the Arbitration Committee has resolved by motion that:

The above proposals that are supported by an absolute majority of unrecused active arbitrators are hereby enacted. The drafting arbitrators (CaptainEek, L235, and Wugapodes) are directed to take the actions necessary to bring the proposals enacted by this motion into effect, including by amending the procedures at WP:AC/P and WP:AC/DS. The authority granted to the drafting arbitrators by this motion expires one month after enactment.

The Arbitration Committee thanks all those who have participated in the 2021-22 discretionary sanctions review process and all who have helped bring it to a successful conclusion. This motion concludes the 2021-22 discretionary sanctions review process.

This motion initiates a one-month implementation period for the updates to the contentious topics system. The Arbitration Committee will announce when the initial implementation of the Committee's decision has concluded and the amendments made by the drafting arbitrators in accordance with the Committee's decision take effect. Any editors interested in the implementation process are invited to assist at the implementation talk page, and editors interested in updates may subscribe to the update list.

Genvis Muça: Article

Hi, you recently deleted Genvis Muça article, can you please release the article ? I had good sources backing up everything I wrote about the artist. Thank you ! Civilizedmonkey9 (talk) 14:47, 22 December 2022 (UTC)

I forgot to mention that it is not promotion, I don't gain anything for writing this article. I've been following this artist for years, and he just recently entered the top awards in Albania. I thought people might want to know more about him and wikipedia would obviously be a good start. Civilizedmonkey9 (talk) 14:56, 22 December 2022 (UTC)
Civilizedmonkey9, firstly, I looked at the two "good sources" provided, and they're, well, not. The first is a brief "profile" style blurb here [21], and having machine translated that, I also find that you word-for-word copied the machine translation. This is a copyright violation, so now knowing that, the article cannot under any circumstances be undeleted. The second source is another brief "profile" style piece here, which is also not sufficient.[22] To be a suitable subject for a Wikipedia article, there must already be a substantial quantity of reliable and independent reference material available about a subject. Your intent here seems to be to "get the word out", which is not appropriate on Wikipedia. If you would like to do that, please use a more appropriate venue such as a personal website or social media. Articles must also not have promotional tone or content, such as the use of completely inappropriate external links to an individual's Spotify page in the article text, or constant use of puff adjectives ("talented", "sizeable audience", as a couple of examples.) Seraphimblade Talk to me 19:29, 22 December 2022 (UTC)
It's sad because sometimes people can be popular in a country without necessarily having online articles for it as proof. Online articles are just the tip of the iceberg in my opinion. As I mentioned it earlier, I gain nothing by creating this wikipedia page, I googled his name and saw that he didn't have a wikipedia page, and I thought about creating one for him. It's also worth noting that I'm a beginner here, and I tried to do it with the few articles and information I possessed. Cheers! Civilizedmonkey9 (talk) 00:36, 27 December 2022 (UTC)
References are not required to be online, just published. If you know of, for example, reliable printed sources about a subject, those are fine to use as well. But you must write in your own words, paraphrasing the source, not copy it. Seraphimblade Talk to me 00:43, 27 December 2022 (UTC)

Contentious topics procedure now in effect

You are receiving this message because you are subscribed to updates on the Arbitration Committee's contentious topics procedure revision process.

In December, the Arbitration Committee adopted the contentious topics procedure, which replaces the former discretionary sanctions system. The contentious topics procedure is now in effect following an initial implementation period.

The drafting arbitrators warmly thank all those who have worked to implement the new procedure during this implementation period and beyond. KevinL (aka L235 · t · c) 19:44, 17 January 2023 (UTC)

Arbitration case Armenia-Azerbaijan 3 opened

Hello Seraphimblade,

You recently offered a statement in a request for arbitration. The Arbitration Committee has accepted that request for arbitration and an arbitration case has been opened at Wikipedia:Arbitration/Requests/Case/Armenia-Azerbaijan 3. Evidence that you wish the arbitrators to consider should be added to the evidence subpage, at Wikipedia:Arbitration/Requests/Case/Armenia-Azerbaijan 3/Evidence. Please add your evidence by February 10, 2023, which is when the evidence phase closes. You can also contribute to the case workshop subpage, Wikipedia:Arbitration/Requests/Case/Armenia-Azerbaijan 3/Workshop. Hello @Seraphimblade I created a article on WFH Foundation. This is one of the largest no-profit social organization in Bangladesh. I think it should not be delete. Disagree on AfD close

Hi @Seraphimblade: I am sorry but I disagree with your close of Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Muhammad Saeed Khan. The sources that I have presented have not been considered and several queries have not been answered. This must get a re-list so that these things are discussed. Even if the participants don't reach to any conclusion, and there is policy-based on either of the sides, this would qualify as a no-consensus AfD. Please allow a relist. I am still on hunt for more resources that speak about the subject in more detail. Thanks, ─ The Aafī (talk) 10:16, 6 February 2023 (UTC)

TheAafi, it looks like one editor extensively discussed your arguments with you and declined to change their mind, and then more arguments came in afterwards and clearly found your argument insufficient. So, your proposals were not undiscussed, but rather were seen by several people and rejected as insufficient by them. Given this, I will not be making any changes to the closure, as there was a clear consensus for deletion and that stood even after you had made your arguments. Seraphimblade Talk to me 17:59, 6 February 2023 (UTC)
Well, the editor made a wrong reply about the BBC report itself that it was about "attending PM's marriage" when it is about something else. They didn't answer any query afterwards. If you aren't still ready, I can file a DR, because all of the sources mentioned in the AfD didn't receive enough scrutiny. ─ The Aafī (talk) 18:03, 6 February 2023 (UTC)
You can of course do that. Seraphimblade Talk to me 18:04, 6 February 2023 (UTC)

Deletion review for Muhammad Saeed Khan

An editor has asked for a deletion review of Muhammad Saeed Khan. Because you closed the deletion discussion for this page, speedily deleted it, or otherwise were interested in the page, you might want to participate in the deletion review. ─ The Aafī (talk) 18:18, 6 February 2023 (UTC)

I was just going through List of songs recorded by S. P. Balasubrahmanyam page and it has been deleted. There are many such articles similar to this page which is not cited. For example List of songs recorded by Sunidhi Chauhan, List of Bengali songs recorded by Shreya Ghoshal, List of Kannada songs recorded by Shreya Ghoshal, List of Tamil songs recorded by Shreya Ghoshal,List of songs recorded by Shankar Mahadevan, List of songs recorded by Latha Hamsalekha, List of songs recorded by Chaitra H. G.

There are many more such pages in the Category:Lists of songs recorded by Indian singers. I want to know whether the same deletion policy will apply for all these pages like List of songs recorded by S. P. Balasubrahmanyam which is deleted. Please guide me, I am intrested in music articles, ill try to add cite for each songs for pages so that i can save some pages from deletion. One more question 'Is the original release by the record label in iTunes, YouTube are used for citation?Skancc (talk) 14:32, 8 February 2023 (UTC)

Skancc, the decision on the deletion of that particular article was from that particular deletion discussion. Whether or not any other articles would be deleted would be discussed separately. It is entirely possible that some things in some given category are notable and others are not, so I offer no opinion as to whether anything else would or should be deleted. Generally speaking, however, YouTube or iTunes would not contribute to notability, as those are not independent sources. Seraphimblade Talk to me 15:09, 8 February 2023 (UTC)

Bad wording.

You wrote, "This file has a non-free use rationale that is disputed because of the following concern: The report can be cited as a reference rather than used as a nonfree image.. Unless this concern is addressed by correcting any shortcomings in the non-free use rationale (templates such as Template:Non-free use rationale can assist in this), the file will be deleted or removed from some uses after Wednesday, 1 March 2023. That is some Bad wording. Corrected by marking PD, because of Wikipedia:Threshold of originality. So why are you saying you'll delete it anyway? G11 deletion of Sea Trek (diving system)

Hi Seraphimblade, on 04:31, 29 January 2023 you deleted page Sea Trek (diving system) tagged as (G11: Unambiguous advertising or promotion). I do not see how G11 was appropriate for that article, as the description did not appear to be exclusively promotional. G11 specifically states:Any article that describes its subject from a neutral point of view does not qualify for this criterion, and to my eye the description was neutral. Since I despammed it myself to the best of my ability, and thought I had left it acceptably neutral in tone, I cannot claim do be entirely uninvolved, hence my request for clarification. I am in no way connected with the topic, and have no plausible conflict of interest. It just happens to be a rather unimportant stub in the scope by WP:SCUBA, and may well fail a RfD on notability, but I do think it was mistagged and would like your comment as the deleting admin. Cheers, · · · Peter Southwood (talk): 04:21, 27 February 2023 (UTC)

Pbsouthwood, well, in your case I would skip my question regarding paid editing. In that case, the article starts out with: suitable for people with no previous diving experience., "sourced" to the maker's own website. That's some brochure material. Carrying on, it's basically a product brochure, with the only "source" being the producer's website. Spam is not only "BUY OUR CRAP TODAY!"; product brochures are also spam. It is necessary that articles cite what independent sources state about the company or product, not just what the company producing the product says about it. If there is a substantial quantity of independent reference material about the subject, it's possible an appropriate article could be written about it, using what that says about it. If not, well, it shouldn't have an article about it, since just writing from the company's own website will by definition result in something which is not neutral, as happened there. Seraphimblade Talk to me 07:09, 27 February 2023 (UTC)
Yes, I am aware that it is poorly sourced and for that reason may well fail an AfD. I am not even claiming that it is notable. I remain neutral on that point, as I have not seen any independent reliable source, but have not really bothered to look very hard. My point is whether the content at the time it was deleted is described from a neutral point of view, which would disqualify it from G11. I do not think that the claim that it is suitable for people with no diving experience is biased, as it is just one of a class of vaguely similar products that are considered suitable for people with no previous diving experience, and manufactured specifically for that purpose, so the claim is relevant, and it might be one of the most suitable for that purpose, though not entirely without risk. I disagree that just writing from the company's own website will by definition result in something which is not neutral, as company websites are often the source of the most accurate technical information and specifications available, and even if some of the specifications are wrong, that would not necessarily make them promotional or not neutral. Cheers, · · · Peter Southwood (talk): 09:45, 27 February 2023 (UTC)

Deletion of page Journal of Management & Administration

I strongly disagree with the speedy deletion of the Journal of Management & Administration page and with your reasoning that the page was unambiguous advertising/promotion (?! - any proof of that?). In any case, please let me have the deleted material. Thank you Coffinfly (talk) 14:19, 23 February 2023 (UTC)

Coffinfly, as you have been involved in writing promotional material, please first clarify if you are being paid or compensated to edit Wikipedia, including being asked or expected to do so as a duty of employment or internship. If so, you will need to make the required disclosures before we proceed. Seraphimblade Talk to me 14:38, 23 February 2023 (UTC)
Seraphimblade, Randykitty, I've been on Wikipedia for ages, adding or editing various articles, including journal pages (e.g. Israel Journal of Entomology, and I've never been paid or compensated for this as such. Moreover, the article about the Journal of Management & Administration was not "promotional" since the journal imposes no page charges despite being Open Access. Anyway, I kindly request to send me the deleted material since this is my intellectual property and I want to use the material elsewhere. Thank you.
PS. Wikipedia becomes very bureaucratic these days. I've made contributions to many pages (insect/invertebrate species and genera, incl. general pages), which may be considered "a conflict of interest", I've never been asked to "disclose" anything. Moreover, the disclosure of the "employer" is a direct breach of anonymity. Coffinfly (talk) 22:34, 24 February 2023 (UTC)
So long as you are not being paid to edit, there is no need at all to disclose your employer. It is only if you choose to edit for pay that such a disclosure is required, and you have said you are not. That's not my idea; it is required by the terms of use that paid editors disclose that they are being paid and by whom. Since you're not, that doesn't apply to you anyway.
That aside, if you just want the material for use elsewhere, I am willing to give it to you in a userspace sandbox (and stub it down to remove the promotional content, but the original material will still be there for you in the history), provided that you agree not to return it to mainspace directly. If that's agreeable to you, let me know and we'll do that. Seraphimblade Talk to me 23:36, 24 February 2023 (UTC)
Thank you for your response. I agree not to return the JMA article to mainspace in its original form, so please let me have the original material, so I can work on it. Thank you. Coffinfly (talk) 14:45, 8 March 2023 (UTC)

Armenia-Azerbaijan 3: Proposed decision mentioning you

Hi Seraphimblade, in the open Armenia-Azerbaijan 3 arbitration case, a remedy or finding of fact has been proposed which relates to you.

You are not directly affected by any proposed sanction; this is just for your information.
Your name appears on the page only once because you had warned Dallavid for edit warring, and this is mentioned in Dallavid's sanction history section.

Please review this decision and draw the arbitrators' attention to any relevant material or statements. Comments may be brought to the attention of the committee on the proposed decision talk page. For a guide to the arbitration process, see Wikipedia:Arbitration/Guide to arbitration. For the Arbitration Committee, ~ ToBeFree (talk) 21:48, 9 March 2023 (UTC)

Charlie Morgan (entrepreneur)

@Seraphimblade:, Would you please be able to draftifty my page you deleted, Charlie Morgan (entrepreneur) so I can improve it? Based on the deletion discussion, Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Charlie Morgan (entrepreneur), there was clearly no consensus that the article should be deleted, especially if you look et the end of the "discussion". If you look at the end of the discussion, you will see that another editor besides myself debunked a pro-deletion editor's claims, to which the pro-deletion editor merely responded with "yawn".

On top of that, the last thing on the discussion was my statement that, "All the pro-deletion editors' main arguments are: Charlie Morgan is rich only because of his father (his father has not died yet), he is still a "nudnik" (one editor's actual words), and that his company is only known by 9+ people (one editors said "number of people who have heard of it into double figures") all of which they have supplied no actual evidence to back up. As evidence against the latter "argument", Au Vodka has 313000+ followers on Instagram alone. For comparison, of all the vodka brands that have a Wikipedia page, the one with by far the most followers is Crystal Head Vodka, which has 60k, less than 1/5 of the amount Au Vodka has. On top of that, there are many sources about the company (see [23] and [24] as an example, among many more sources online). He also has sufficient coverage from reliable secondary sources (see [25], which goes into his background, [26], [27], and [28], among the other sources in the article and more sources online".

Literally the only thing TheLongTone said in response to my statement was that Charlie Morgan was "clearly a nudnik", which he said on my talk page here. I find it very frustrating that my article I worked so hard on has been deleted completely based on assumptions without concrete evidence from editors who insult others. Thanks, Das osmnezz (talk) 23:57, 14 March 2023 (UTC)

Das osmnezz, it depends what you're trying to do. If you want to copy it somewhere else, or to improve it in order to perhaps consult with some of the editors who argued to delete it and see if your improvements sway them, I would do that. If you intend to unilaterally return it to mainspace in contravention of the AfD result, then I won't do that. Regarding the arguments, certainly "yawn" was not an argument worth any consideration at all, but it was hardly the only one for deletion, and many of the "keep" arguments were tepid at best. Seraphimblade Talk to me 01:43, 15 March 2023 (UTC)
@Seraphimblade:, What do you mean by "copy it somewhere else"? Also, regarding the arguments, my point was that the delete arguments cited no evidence for their poor deletion claims (Charlie Morgan is rich only because of his father, he is still a "nudnik", and that his company is only known by 9+ people), while at least a few of the keep argument provided cited evidence of his notability (see my previous statement). On top of that, even if that were not the case, there was definitely no consensus to delete. Thanks, Das osmnezz (talk) 01:53, 15 March 2023 (UTC)
Yes, there was. That aside, I have already told you what I would and wouldn't do, and you didn't clarify what your intentions were. Once you do, we'll go on from there. Seraphimblade Talk to me 02:00, 15 March 2023 (UTC)
@Seraphimblade:, My intention is to take a lot of time to improve the article in draftspace before moving it back into main space after a significant period of time after possibly consulting other editors. That aside, I don't understand why you couldn't have closed the discussion as no consensus or relisted it, since I dont understand how 1 more delete vote than keep vote (6 delete 5 keep) with the last two comments by two different users objecting to deletion could be seen as consensus to delete. For comparison, deletion discussions I have participated in with even as many as 2x as many keep votes as delete votes (e.g. 5 keep 2 delete) have all been relisted due to "no consensus". Thanks, Das osmnezz (talk) 05:38, 15 March 2023 (UTC)
You don't need to ping me on my own talk page; people get a notice whenever their talk page is edited automatically. That said, AfD is a discussion, not a vote. When I close an AfD, I'm reading the discussion, not just counting hands. In this case, many of the "keep" arguments were very tepid and ambivalent, while those who argued to delete were generally substantially more certain in their position. I'll set it to draft at Draft:Charlie Morgan (entrepreneur). Seraphimblade Talk to me 05:47, 15 March 2023 (UTC)

Draft:a Pot for Pot

@Seraphimblade: Hey SeraphimBlade, I'm sorry as I'm a new editor, but I was paid for that article and honestly meant to signal that I was in fact paid. I think you guys flagged me while the article was still a draft? I apologize for the confusion. Regardless, the article is neutral in tone and has some decent sources, but I'd be happy to delete some if it's possible to even have a page called 'a Pot for Pot'. Really, I'd be happy to make the article only about how they are empowering individual cannabis users by providing growing advice and kits. Let me know. Thanks so much! — Preceding unsigned comment added by Kennedyjacob94 (talkcontribs)

Kennedyjacob94, I note that while you state that you intend to disclose editing for pay, you still do not have the mandatory disclosure on your user page. You will need to do that before we proceed any further, or before you edit any further at all. Seraphimblade Talk to me 01:46, 15 March 2023 (UTC)
@Seraphimblade: I have posted that disclosure to my user page! Hoping we can work this out. Thank you!
Jacob Kennedyjacob94 (talk) 18:04, 15 March 2023 (UTC)
As above, you do not need to ping me on my own talk page; I will automatically get a notice any time this page is edited. That aside, I'll first make sure you're aware of the conflict of interest guidelines—not a bad idea to read them, but chiefly, don't directly create or edit any article in mainspace where you have a COI; instead request review by someone who doesn't. In the case of a new article, that's via the draft and articles for creation process. With that aside, promotional material is not permitted on Wikipedia. There was needless use of puff adjectives (e.g., "innovative"), editorializing (responded to the high-pressure government regulations in places like Canada and California that favor larger, well-funded businesses over smaller, mid-level growers), and flat-out source misrepresentation (this source, [29], is used to source the statement The learning curve on growing marijuana has been addressed by aPotforPot's guides on how to grow cannabis, as well as their 'pen pal' model of ongoing support for customers as they go through the process of growing marijuana at home., but does not contain the words "pen pal", so the quotation is falsified, not to mention it doesn't really confirm the rest of that either, and it's quite puffy. I will warn you right now that misrepresenting a source is a big deal, and that had better never happen again.) So, if you try again, please make sure there's nothing like that. I'm also unclear on the notability of the subject, but that can always be addressed down the line. I would say probably the Chicago Tribune piece would be one potential source toward that, but the Los Angeles Times article is just a passing mention in an article about something else, and the rest of the sources don't look all that great (certainly, something like "Wikileaf" would not be appropriate for pretty much any purpose). Seraphimblade Talk to me 20:26, 15 March 2023 (UTC)
HI Seraphim, I have indeed read those COI guidelines but was admittedly confused by the fact that there can still be paid editors, assuming that as long as we disclose ourselves, and follow the guidelines of significance and notability than it is okay. Essentially, if the company is notable enough, then it's fine as long as we have a neutral tone. I've logged your advice and will make sincere efforts to make it less praising.
Regardless, I just want to make the wikipedia page based on two sources really. The LA Times article, and the Herb.co article. The Herb.co article centers around the importance of autonomous home-growing and how it empowers people to have control over what they consume. This is what I connect a Pot for Pot to in the sense of cultural significance since they are mentioned in the article and their service directly coincides with this concept. The LA Times article mentions how growing at home can save money by avoiding the large tax, and as well is justified by 'sticking a green thumb in Johnny Law's eye after years of cannabis prohibition.'
If I write the article and make it very short, with only those two sources, will that be okay?
this time, based on what you've said, I'll just send it to another user to review. Are they then the ones who have to post it?
thanks for all your help! Kennedyjacob94 (talk) 01:07, 17 March 2023 (UTC)
You can create a draft, and have AfC review it. Seraphimblade Talk to me 03:44, 17 March 2023 (UTC)

Deletion of Page Mobile Tyre Shop

Hi mate,

Hope you're well. Am writing to this re a G11 notice placed on the page.

I have tried to make the content as generic and non-promotional as possible, can I please get some feedback as to which sections that might violate the guidelines? Happy to remove any internal links and cut down more on information to make it more generic, or any suggestions/feedback you might have.

Let me know what the best move is in terms of next steps. Thank you so much for your time. KidderCart (talk) 09:34, 17 March 2023 (UTC)

KidderCart, it appears that you are engaging in editing for pay, which would include being asked or expected to edit Wikipedia as a duty of employment or internship. However, you have not made the mandatory paid editing disclosures. You will need to do that before we proceed, or before you make any more edits at all. Seraphimblade Talk to me 09:46, 17 March 2023 (UTC)
Hi Seraphimblade,
Thanks for the information and guide. I'm currently trying to reupload the page again, this time disclosing any information as per the guidelines. Will probably put it in draft and let you/anyone else review to see if it meets guidelines based on my understanding (or best I can). Hopefully it does not violate any guidelines, but do let me know and feel free to recommended changes as necessary! :) KidderCart (talk) 06:25, 20 March 2023 (UTC)
KidderCart, please be aware that as a paid editor, you must follow the conflict of interest guidelines. So, you are required to create the article as a draft, and request review from articles for creation, not like you did last time trying to repeatedly move it to mainspace yourself. This is not optional. Seraphimblade Talk to me 06:44, 20 March 2023 (UTC)

Topic ban appeal

I have made more than 500 edits since topic banned by you in September 2022.[30] Earlier you had thought that I should be given another chance but more admin/s intervened and I got topic banned. Nevertheless, I have been careful and haven't repeated any of the mistakes that got me topic banned. Can you lift the topic ban now? I will continue editing productively once the topic ban has been lifted. Thanks in advance Pranesh Ravikumar (talk) 10:52, 20 March 2023 (UTC)

Pranesh Ravikumar, I generally find "thanks in advance" to reflect an arrogant, entitled attitude that someone is going to do what you are asking. So, given that, I am not going to do what you are asking. Seraphimblade Talk to me 12:44, 20 March 2023 (UTC)

Notenik:draft

Could you please undo the deletion of the draft page for Notenik? This was tagged for speedy deletion, and then deleted before I had a chance to respond. Subsequent dialogue with the editor who tagged it for speedy deletion has made it clear that s/he was operating under some misapprehensions: namely, that I was trying to conceal my role as author of Notenik (which had been clearly disclosed much earlier, and which I had never tried to hide); and secondly, that I was being paid to author the article, or was somehow hoping to promote the app for my own financial gain. The truth is that the app is free and open-source, and I develop the app for fun, and as a way to give back to the community. This whole latest series of objections seems to be based on some of the text sounding too much like advertising. I was making an honest attempt to objectively summarize some of the positive comments that have been made by cited, neutral third parties about the app, but I can certainly reword into more neutral language and resubmit. And if you could post something on my talk page to inform me of your actions, that would be much appreciated. Thanks for your consideration. Hhbowie (talk) 16:27, 20 March 2023 (UTC)

Hhbowie, I do not undelete advertisements, but if you would like, I will give you a list of the references which were used in the draft article. Keep in mind that "promotion" just means talking something up, even if it is not for any kind of monetary gain. Seraphimblade Talk to me 20:25, 20 March 2023 (UTC)
OK, then, if you would provide me with a list of the references, that would be appreciated. A complete copy of the draft article would be better, but I will take what I can get. Hhbowie (talk) 06:15, 21 March 2023 (UTC)
I've placed these at User:Hhbowie/Notenik references. Seraphimblade Talk to me 23:02, 21 March 2023 (UTC)
