Rate Me[edit]

I know that this is a pain but please rate me and say what I need to work on etc. Also can you find some good groups for me to browse. Thanks for all your support! P.S. Take a look at my user page for information on what my interests are. It is similar to yours. I hope it is OK. Different color scheme though! ;)RED skunk TALK 04:31, 27 January 2007 (UTC) [reply]

Orphaned fair use image (Image:PsycicLover.jpg)[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:PsycicLover.jpg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable under fair use (see our fair use policy).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Re: Hey[edit]

I sure have been whacking a lot of vandals. I have 115 mainspace edits!!! RedSkunk 02:28, 14 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Heh, congrats on hitting the big 100 ^_^ Still have a way to go to catch up with my 3300 though ^_- ShakingSpirittalk 21:22, 14 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]
How do you use your sig. Do you just copy paste it in or is there another way? RedSkunk 17:32, 16 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Bot question[edit]

I've noticed you using a bot to fix double redirects. Is that its only ability? Does it only work on Wikipedia? I'm need of replacing a string text in Commons, which is too widely used for me to edit manually. It could be achieved but it's quite boring, so I'm wondering if your bot can do the trick, or if you know of any that may do it.

Also, I reckon they are run through Python/Perl. I've no way to run scripts in my office's computer, since I can't install any software here, so I'm kind of needing help in this department too.--Saoshyant talk / contribs (please join WP:Portugal or WP:SPOKEN) 18:25, 16 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Sure, replacing a string across the wiki wouldn't be too hard at all, I'd be happy to ^_^ What exactly do you need changing? ShakingSpirittalk 18:59, 16 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Sup? You shouldn't use the <font> tag. It's invalid in XHTML. Anyhow, thanks for accepting my request. I need the bot to check this category and replace any by . It's tedious work.
Thanks for your help!--Saoshyant talk / contribs (please join WP:Portugal or WP:SPOKEN) 19:24, 16 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]
You're right, <font> is not supported by the XHTML Strict doctype, but it is perfectly valid under Transitional/Frameset, and as Wikipedia uses Transitional, there's no problem ^_^
In any case, you just need all the photos re-categorized? No problem at all, will get ShakingBot right on it. ShakingSpirittalk 05:24, 17 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]
All done! ShakingSpirittalk 05:46, 17 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks, mate. P.S: regarding font, you have to note that if Wp is stuck in Transitional forever, it won't ever be able to move to XHTML2.--Saoshyant talk / contribs (please join WP:Portugal or WP:SPOKEN) 10:45, 19 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

DarknessBot[edit]

thank you! And sorry I haven't been on in a while... -- ~D-Lord (Sign!) (TCE) 00:06, 17 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

No worries, I haven't either ^_- ShakingSpirittalk 05:47, 17 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Bot Request...[edit]

I've been doing some very tedious work replacing aero spec tags with aero specs tags. They are a redirect but in general it's not good to have tags redirect. Could you have ShakingBot do that? I just saw that there was a different request, so I thought I'd throw it out there. Now I have 250 mainspace edits! RedSkunk 16:46, 19 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Sure, I'm sure ShakingBot can help, what exactly is it that you need doing? ShakingSpirittalk 17:34, 19 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Signature[edit]

How do you use your sig. Do you just copy paste it in or is there another way? RedSkunk 17:32, 16 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

It's just what I've entered into 'Signature' in Special:Preferences, nothing fancy ^_^ ShakingSpirittalk 17:34, 19 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]
It doesn't seem to be working for me. It shows all of the markup too. And about the bot. It's not good to have redirecting templates. I'm doing work for WP:AIR. the aero-spec template is the old template. Now the template is aero-specs. There is over 250 pages that are aero spec. It would take a lot of time to do manually. So could you make it look at all the pages in what links here for aero-spec and change the aero-spec in it to aero-specs? RedSkunk 19:15, 19 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Sure, no problem, will get ShakingBot right on it. And about your sig, make sure you have "Raw signature" checked ^_^ ShakingSpirittalk 23:33, 19 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Should I have Red as userpage and Skunk as talk, or have a separate talk link? RedSkunk 03:12, 20 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]
My new sig!!! [[User:Redskunk|<font color=red>Red</font><font color=black>Skunk<font color="black">talk</font>]] 02:20, 21 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Your new sig is broken >_< ShakingSpirittalk 23:15, 21 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Automated message to bot owners[edit]

As a result of discussion on the village pump and mailing list, bots are now allowed to edit up to 15 times per minute. The following is the new text regarding bot edit rates from Wikipedia:Bot Policy:

Until new bots are accepted they should wait 30-60 seconds between edits, so as to not clog the recent changes list and user watchlists. After being accepted and a bureaucrat has marked them as a bot, they can edit at a much faster pace. Bots doing non-urgent tasks should edit approximately once every ten seconds, while bots who would benefit from faster editing may edit approximately once every every four seconds.

Also, to eliminate the need to spam the bot talk pages, please add Wikipedia:Bot owners' noticeboard to your watchlist. Future messages which affect bot owners will be posted there. Thank you. --Mets501 05:01, 22 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

An award for you, then:[edit]

The Excellent User Page Award
For creating a functional, aesthetically pleasing, and easy-to-use user page design, and graciously raising the point when others were awarded for use of his design, I hereby present ShakingSpirit the Excellent User Page Award, with apologies for not recognizing his talents sooner. Hersfold (talk/work)

I'm sorry, when I gave RedSkunk his, I did vaguely wonder if there was someone else I should be giving credit to as well... thank you for mentioning that, or I'm afraid I may have made the same mistake again. Hersfold (talk|work) 13:01, 22 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

No worries, many thanks for the barnstar! ^_^

The Barnstar[edit]

I am kindly refusing the barnstar to my user page. It was all of your work after all. I have a new user page in development though :) And i've changed the background color. I should've checked. I assumed falsely that you had gotten the award too. I thought, "Oh well, I didn't do it but it's OK On another more sinister note how did you find out??? RedSkunktalk 00:52, 23 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Oh and:

The Random Acts of Kindness Barnstar
Thanks for helping me so much. You have taught me a lot of what I know RedSkunktalk 01:23, 23 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Yay, barnstarness! ^_^ I look forward to seeing your new user page once it's complete! Oh, and I 'found out' because I've got your talk page on my watchlist - just making sure you keep outta trouble ^_~ ShakingSpirittalk 04:09, 23 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Yeah it's still in the early stages. I copied yours for the time being. I still don't have a great understanding of Wikicode so it's kinda tough. It has a userbox column on the right, and is similar in content, but has different rendering, and different names for columns. And I broke 250 edits! RedSkunktalk 04:12, 23 February 2007 (UTC) PS you might have to hide your barnstars at some point, for it's making your userpage long.[reply]
Yeah, I'm either going to have to hide the barnstars...or just add more userboxes! :D Congrats on breaking the 250 mark ^_^ ShakingSpirittalk 04:16, 23 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I'll show you my userpage when I think it is in a decent state. Any general advice? RedSkunktalk 04:17, 23 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Keep it simple, keep it useable, and plan plan plan! ^_^ ShakingSpirittalk 04:22, 23 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Good advice! How do you put your comment on both your's and my user page.? RedSkunktalk 04:23, 23 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Manually copy and paste....but you're right, I should write a script to do it! ^_^ ShakingSpirittalk 04:25, 23 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Check my userpage. Do you like the new background color? RedSkunktalk 04:27, 23 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Yup, it definatly jars less against the bright yellow than plain white ^_^ ShakingSpirittalk 04:30, 23 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

what are you talking about? im really confused.

Article handling[edit]

Thanks for taking care of those 2 articles I tagged for deletion; I wasn't sure what to do since the speedy deletion cat is backlogged by a few days. I also tagged Mathematician triathlon if you want to take a look at that. Thanks. --BrokenSphere 04:56, 23 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I find it's always a good idea to move non-notable pages to the creator's user space, as a lot of the articles have had a lot of effort put into them, and personally I think that an unfriendly speedy deletion notice followed by the removal of the page is kind of WP:BITE ^_^ Mathematician triathlon I don't think is speedy deletion material - it's not really that it doesn't "assert the importance or significance" of the band, but that they're just not notable at all. Personally I'd be more inclined to PROD or AFD it. ShakingSpirittalk 05:06, 23 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]
