Hello[edit]

Thank you for the warm welcome

I'm having some trouble with the chart i'm using in the 2019 Ecuador earthquake the coordinates is not responding correctly.

If you could fix this or tell me how to I would be very happy.

The coordinates are displaying fine for me in the infobox at the moment. If you want to show them on the top right of the article, on the title bar as well, you can add the parameter display=inline, title, like this: {{coord|2.186|S|77.051|W|display=inline,title}}.
That's a nice first article, by the way :) I've only made a few fixes to it: I've moved some stuff around to comply with WP:Manual of Style, and turned your citations into references (because sources should be linked next to the text that is based on their information). Also, take care not to copy sentences directly from sources, that's WP:close paraphrasing and could be a copyright problem ;) DaßWölf 03:53, 13 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Sock puppetry[edit]

Please read Wikipedia:Sock puppetry. You appear to be operating two accounts - this one and User:WritingPro1234, based on you both claiming 2019 Papua New Guinea earthquake as your project, supported by your writing style. If you have decided to change your username you need to be clear about that and retire the account that you're no longer using - see the linked page above with details of how to do that. If you continue to use two accounts without explanation, you are liable to be banned. Mikenorton (talk) 09:37, 14 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Information icon Hello, I'm B dash. I noticed that you added or changed content in an article, Cyclone Fani, but you didn't provide a reliable source. It's been removed and archived in the page history for now, but if you'd like to include a citation and re-add it, please do so. If you need guidance on referencing, please see the referencing for beginners tutorial, or if you think I made a mistake, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thank you. Help again...[edit]

I'm trying to use data to create a new earthquake and here is what came out

|4.4 |5.0 |V |Some Moderate damage was recorded in the area of Marland, Oklahoma and Udall, Kansas Minor was reported across the two states earthquakes.usgs.gov https://earthquake.usgs.gov/earthquakes/eventpage/usd000a245/executive. Retrieved 2019-05-17. {{cite web}}: Missing or empty |title= (help)</ref> | United States, Oklahoma Rich Valley Oil Feild, 15km SSE of Medford, Oklahoma | - | - | -

It so far is not responding as it should if you could help me thanks

OK, you have a closing ref tag "</ref>", but not an opening tag - also you need to give a title, which in this case would be "M 4.4 - 15km SSE of Medford, Oklahoma", which gives the citation [1]
However, a word of warning, this is not in any way a notable event, so it would not be wise to create an article on it, as it will just get deleted. Mikenorton (talk) 21:50, 17 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Sockpuppet investigation[edit]

An editor has opened an investigation into sockpuppetry by you. Sockpuppetry is the use of more than one Wikipedia account in a manner that contravenes community policy. The investigation is being held at Wikipedia:Sockpuppet investigations/WritingPro1234, where the editor who opened the investigation has presented their evidence. Please make sure you make yourself familiar with the guide to responding to investigations, and then feel free to offer your own evidence or to submit comments that you wish to be considered by the Wikipedia administrator who decides the result of the investigation. If you have been using multiple accounts (in a manner contrary to Wikipedia policy), please go to the investigation page and verify that now. Leniency is usually shown to those who promise not to do so again, or who did so unwittingly, but the abuse of multiple accounts is taken very seriously by the Wikipedia community.

Disambiguation link notification for May 19[edit]

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited Severe Tropical Cyclone Veronica, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Rio Tinto (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are usually incorrect, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of unrelated topics with similar titles. (Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.)

It's OK to remove this message. Also, to stop receiving these messages, follow these opt-out instructions. Thanks, DPL bot (talk) 10:33, 19 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for making the article for Cyclone Veronica! Given how often Australia retires storms, the storm will likely be retired, so it's good to have the article. It's on the short side for now, but there are lots of resources out there to expand the article, if you're interested. Do you need any assistance with editing and how to develop articles? I'd be happy to help if you're interested. ♫ Hurricanehink (talk) 15:11, 19 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Agreed the main reason I made this article was for the cost of damage. But now that you mention it will probably happen to. — Preceding unsigned comment added by She-Hulka (talkcontribs)

If you're looking at expanding the article, there is a list of warnings on the season talk page. Also, if you do a general Google search, put "Cyclone Veronica" in quotations, and just add whatever you find. Make sure you add references to what you add, as I noticed your Veronica article didn't have sources for every statement. ♫ Hurricanehink (talk) 17:21, 19 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]
@She-Hulka: I'd like to echo Hurricanehink's thanks for beginning the article on Cyclone Veronica. However, as you have likely noticed, I have removed the main article links that you have added to various articles directing readers to your Cyclone Veronica article. As I have explained in my edit summaries, the article does not currently meet quality standards for a mainspace WP:WPTC article. The article is far too short for a tropical cyclone as significant as Veronica, covering only limited areas with little detail. The article also contains numerous factual inaccuracies, ambiguities and unsourced claims, and its English expression requires some improvement, with the text currently including technical errors regarding punctuation and grammar. At present, this article should still be in Draft stage (whether in the draft namespace itself, or within your own user space) rather than in the main namespace. As such, it is inappropriate to add main article links at its current level of completion. Please feel free to ask myself or any of the other editors, such as Hurricanehink, if you have any queries regarding processes, conventions, or Wikipedia in general. Once again, we appreciate your effort in beginning the article—it is just not ready for publication yet. ChocolateTrain (talk) 04:37, 20 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Information icon Welcome to Wikipedia, and thank you for your contributions. Although everyone is welcome to contribute constructively to the encyclopedia, please note that there is a Manual of Style that should be followed to maintain a consistent, encyclopedic appearance. Deviating from this style, as you did in 2019 Peru earthquake, disturbs uniformity among articles and may cause readability or accessibility problems. Please take a look at the welcome page to learn more about contributing to this encyclopedia. Thank you. SounderBruce 19:34, 26 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Severe Tropical Storm Durian moved to draftspace[edit]

An article you recently created, Severe Tropical Storm Durian, does not have enough sources and citations as written to remain published. It needs more citations from reliable, independent sources. (?) Information that can't be referenced should be removed (verifiability is of central importance on Wikipedia). I've moved your draft to draftspace (with a prefix of "Draft:" before the article title) where you can incubate the article with minimal disruption. When you feel the article meets Wikipedia's general notability guideline and thus is ready for mainspace, please click on the "Submit your draft for review!" button at the top of the page. Wikipedia and copyright[edit]

Control copyright icon Hello She-Hulka, and welcome to Wikipedia. Some of your additions to Beauregard, Alabama Tornado, 2019 Linwood, Kansas tornado, 2019 Peru earthquake, and Draft:2019 Papua New Guinea earthquake have been removed, as they appear to have added copyrighted content without evidence that the source material is in the public domain or has been released by its owner or legal agent under a suitably-free and compatible copyright license. (To request such a release, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission.) While we appreciate your contributions to Wikipedia, there are certain things you must keep in mind about using information from sources to avoid copyright and plagiarism issues.

  • You can only copy/translate a small amount of a source, and you must mark what you take as a direct quotation with double quotation marks (") and cite the source using an inline citation. You can read about this at Wikipedia:Non-free content in the sections on "text". See also Help:Referencing for beginners, for how to cite sources here.
  • Aside from limited quotation, you must put all information in your own words and structure, in proper paraphrase. Following the source's words too closely can create copyright problems, so it is not permitted here; see Wikipedia:Close paraphrasing. (There is a college-level introduction to paraphrase, with examples, hosted by the Online Writing Lab of Purdue.) Even when using your own words, you are still, however, asked to cite your sources to verify the information and to demonstrate that the content is not original research.
  • Our primary policy on using copyrighted content is Wikipedia:Copyrights. You may also want to review Wikipedia:Copy-paste.
  • If you own the copyright to the source you want to copy or are a legally designated agent, you may be able to license that text so that we can publish it here. Understand, though, that unlike many other sites, where a person can license their content for use there and retain non-free ownership, that is not possible at Wikipedia. Rather, the release of content must be irrevocable, to the world, into the public domain (PD) or under a suitably-free and compatible copyright license. Such a release must be done in a verifiable manner, so that the authority of the person purporting to release the copyright is evidenced. See Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials.
  • In very rare cases (that is, for sources that are PD or compatibly licensed) it may be possible to include greater portions of a source text. However, please seek help at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions, the help desk or the Teahouse before adding such content to the article. 99.9% of sources may not be added in this way, so it is necessary to seek confirmation first. If you do confirm that a source is public domain or compatibly licensed, you will still need to provide full attribution; see Wikipedia:Plagiarism for the steps you need to follow.
  • Also note that Wikipedia articles may not be copied or translated without attribution. If you want to copy or translate from another Wikipedia project or article, you must follow the copyright attribution steps in Wikipedia:Translation#How to translate. See also Wikipedia:Copying within Wikipedia.

It's very important that contributors understand and follow these practices, as policy requires that people who persistently do not must be blocked from editing. If you have any questions about this, you are welcome to leave me a message on my talk page. Thank you. — Diannaa 🍁 (talk) 12:15, 2 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Tornado articles redirected[edit]

The articles 2019 Linwood, Kansas tornado and Beauregard, Alabama Tornado were redirected to the articles on the outbreaks the respective tornadoes occurred in. They are not notable enough for their own articles. Please look at WP:EVENT. Thank you. — MRD2014 (talk) 16:12, 2 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]
