May 2011[edit]

Welcome to Wikipedia. Everyone is welcome to contribute to the encyclopedia, but when you add or change content, as you did to the article En no Gyōja, please cite a reliable source for the content of your edit. This helps maintain our policy of verifiability. See Wikipedia:Citing sources for how to cite sources, and the welcome page to learn more about contributing to this encyclopedia. Thank you. I am a native Japanese speaker. The book you cited seems to be unreliable. As far as I know, historical records in Japan do not support your addition. Please provide a proper reference. Ninja[edit]

Hello, thanks for you comment. If you wish to add or change something to the article I would really prefer it from an in-line citation from a book. When writing the article I intentionally avoided Stephen Hayes/Masaaki Hatsumi due to community complaints about their credibility (no offense). I believe it would be wise to avoid citing Hayes' many books for now in the interest of keeping this article as scholarly as possible. This article does not say that ninjas could not have been samurai to begin with, in fact I've always believed throughout my research that they were often drawn from the samurai class. In the lead paragraph, I specifically used neutral wording ("contrasted") to avoid stating whether or not they were samurai, as it is not always clear. Perhaps we have a misunderstanding? ~ AMorozov 〈talk〉 01:43, 30 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]
