This is Moe[edit]

Hello Shreshth91, just thought I would let you know that I was leaving Wikipedia, but before I left, I finally got a picture of thyself onto Wikipedia. (I know great timing for me to post a picture of myself, right?) This is my final gift to my friends. Later! PS. Try not to laugh to hard at my ugly mug ok? Moe ε 16:42, 30 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Esperanza Newsletter, Issue #3[edit]

The Administrator Coaching program is a program aimed at preparing Wikipedians for Adminship or helping them understand the intricacies of Wikipedia better. Recently, changes have been made to the requirements of coachees. Please review them before requesting this service.
This would be something like the Welcoming Committee, but for people who have figured out the basics of editing articles; they're not newcomers any more, but they might want some help in learning new roles. Some might like suggestions about how to learn vandal patrol, or mentoring on taking an article to featured status, or guidance with a proposal they plan to make at the Village Pump, for example. In this way, Esperanza would help keep hope alive for Wikipedia because we would always be grooming the next generation of admins.
The Stressbusters are a subset of Esperanza aiming to investigate the causes of stress. New eyes on the situation are always welcome!
Note from the editor
As always, MiszaBot handled this delivery. Thank you! Also, congratulations go to Pschemp, Titoxd and Freakofnurture for being elected in the last elections! An Esperanzial May to all of the readership!
  1. Posting logs of the Esperanza IRC channel are explicitly banned anywhere. Violation of this rule results in deletion and a ban from the channel.
  2. A disclaimer is going to be added to the Esperanza main page. We are humans and, as such, are imperfect.
  3. Various revisions have been made to the Code of Conduct. Please see them, as the proposal is ready to be ratified by the community and enacted. All members will members to have to re-confirm their membership after accepting the Code of Conduct.
  4. Referendums are to be held on whether terms of AC members should be lengthened and whether we should abolish votes full stop.
  5. Admin Coaching reform is agreed upon.

My RFA[edit]

Hi Shreshth91/Archive6,

Thank you for your vote in my recent unsuccesful RFA. I will strive to overcome any shortcomings you may have mentioned & will try & prove myself worthy of your vote.

Cheers

my rfa[edit]

Hi Shreshth - thanks for your kind words, enthusiasm and confidence in me. I really appreciate your support and encouragement. I don't know about 100, much less 200, but I'm already brimming with pleasure over the support I'm receiving. Even if it stops here, I'm on top of the world. This really means a lot. Rama's Arrow 15:44, 13 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

P.S. - there is always 1% chance of things going wrong. I don't want anybody to get the impression that this is gonna be an outright success. I'm mentally prepared for any outcome. Rama's Arrow 15:44, 13 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

The Medal of Honor Union[edit]

I saw that the creator of the article removed the prod, and I also noticed it was deleted earlier. Should it go under an AfD and end the recreation once and for all? Thunderbrand 15:51, 14 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

thanks[edit]

Hi Shreshth91 - I'm very sorry to have disappointed your expectation in me, but it had become impossible for me to compromise my principles. I don't covet adminship at all, so it wasn't a difficult decision.

However, I cannot tell you how greatly joyous I feel at the enthusiastic, wonderful support you expressed for me. I don't know how hard it will be to understand that your supports means extremely a lot to me. I thank you from my heart, and please let me know if I can ever be assistance or help in anything.

Btw - let's finish the work on FR/DP/FD. Rama's Arrow 19:42, 14 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I'm sorry to hear that you're gonna be inactive, but I can understand. I've studied in India, and immigrated just before I entered 9th, thus escaping the tense years! These are crucial years, and my best wishes and full support are with you. Please give me one or two days before I come on to FR/DP/FD - I need to do some research at the local library on some FA topics I plan to work on.
After your enthusiastic support for me, I was most worried about letting you down by withdrawing. To be honest, I feel like I've gained so much from this in the form of real friends. So many people honored with so much trust and support! What achievement could be better? Don't worry about RfAs, etc. from now on. These are not important, and neither the main purpose of why we are here. Rama's Arrow 05:38, 15 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Shreshth[edit]

I know you may be busy with exams, but I was wondering if you could help me understand this: [1]. I've never thrown a personal attack. Is this type of behaviour acceptable from admins? I'm a physician and I've spent the night (it's 6 AM here now) editing wikipedia in the ward room between taking care of patients. It's somewhat frustrating to have to deal with this. Thanks. -- Samir धर्म 10:11, 15 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Sukh's RFA - Thanks![edit]

Thank you for your vote on my RfA. Unfortunately there was no consensus reached at 43 support, 18 oppose and 8 neutral. Hi Shreshth - yeah I've replied immediately. I will help out tomorrow with the editing, and then lemme know if it comes out better. Also, I advise that you ask some of the other guys to weigh in, so we can get a better perspective. How busy are you - can we aim for an FAC early or mid of this coming week? Pe:PINSAC[edit]

Hi,

I would have done that already. But I am not able to locate the template that says that the nomination failed (which needs to be put up on the talk page). Do you know what is the name of this template? Also, I am missing the template that says that the article was once a SA in Portal India. I want to find them first before going ahead with the removal as it will make things more complicated. -Ambuj Saxena (talk) 05:16, 21 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Oh sorry,
Didn't realize that they have been improved and hence now featurable. I was asking the above question for Tamil Nadu. Will archive them now. BTW, if one acts in good faith, there is no problem is archiving your own nominations. For example, I archived and added IITs article although I am a major editor of the same. Since the nomination was older than 2 weeks with no opposition, I went ahead. -Ambuj Saxena (talk) 05:22, 21 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks so much for the article. I was only slightly hopeful that someone would take it open themselves to right a slightly comprehensive article and you went beyond any expectation I may have had. Hi Shreshth! Thanks for your "pile on" support of my RfA. :o) I assure you, every single comment was appreciated, even the pile ons. CorbinSimpson's Request for Adminship[edit]

Thanks for voting in my request for administrator rights, even though it failed (13/30/4). Sadly, work has forced me to respond to you all using a substituted message rather than a personalized response. Anyway, I just wanted to let you know that administrators, to me, should be chosen and approved by the community, and I will continue working to become a better editor and Wikipedian. No matter what the alignment of your vote was, I will take your comments seriously and use them to improve myself. If you wish to discuss your comments personally with me, I would be more than glad to talk about things since the RfA is now over; just leave your concern on my talk page and we will sort things out. Thanks again for voting, and happy editing! - Corbin Be excellent

Re:Battle of Burning Plains[edit]

Well, it's still a good article. I doubt there could be much more to add to it. Could there? Plus, by the time it gets chosen, if it does, it will probably be not so new. And about the FA standards, I'm not the best at selecting FA articles. Plus, I wouldn't nominate it now. I just said that to get feedback on how to make it better, so that it could be nominated. anti-reservation in "in the news" main page[edit]

Hi! See if the image may be changed in the main page entry. I've uploaded a dew images in the article Indian anti-reservation protests, 2006. Regards.--Dwaipayan (talk) 12:10, 25 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I feel that Image:Dharnaeithflag.jpg is the most appropriate. Its aspect ration is also good to be added on the main page. -Ambuj Saxena (talk) 13:39, 25 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I think the first image of "No Quotas" written by candles is absolutely excellent. The one of candle march is not bad either, but quality is bad. Regarding photoshopping, I do not know how to do that and do not have that either. You just make it appear there. Some other admin can photoshop on seeing the date. we are not moving for making them featured pics ! So a date can be tolerated. In fact, the "No quotas" photo does not have a date. It has something scribbled that can hardly be read. However, that image has one disadvantage. Protesters are too little to be discerned.
The image of fluttering the flag is better is better in that regard. People can be seen easily. However, that image has something written. That definitely needs to be cropped. On second thought, I agree with Ambuj. Though the "No Quota" image is more stunning, this dharna image is more clear.--Dwaipayan (talk) 13:42, 25 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Not too much to differentiate Dharna image with the candle one at 100px size. Protest obviously means people protesting, so showing people doesn't add more to the item. Candle light does and many wd click on the image to see it bigger. I don't see the need for Natalinasmpf removing the "pictured" bit, though his edit summary mentions it. --Gurubrahma 14:06, 25 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]
and btw, I did not find much to cpt FR, FD, DPSP article. I forgot to sign last time, returning ur favor on my talkpage, I guess ;) --Gurubrahma 14:06, 25 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

The svg is not perfect. It does not show up on some templates in some browsers. Besides, it is also inaccurate. Please leave the png in place. See more on Keeleysam's talk page, and mine.--HereToHelp 20:54, 25 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

status of FR/DP/FD[edit]

Hi Shreshth - I've recently copyedited several sections, and hope to complete the job by Sunday morning. Please check these edits to see if they're ok. On a serious note, I've found many embedded errors in the writing, (unfounded and POV assertions in descriptions), grammar, etc. I'm proceeding to weed these out, and I suggest a toothcomb approach to examining sentences in various sections. I'm confident, however, that this article will become FAC-ready by Sunday. Rama's Arrow 04:18, 27 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Info needed on the following[edit]

Hi again - please check if you can provide more information in the article on the following topics:

  1. Religious headcover recently an issue in France, about the rights of Muslims and Sikhs to wear turbans, burkhas, etc. There were many incidents during the Khalistan crisis of checking the paghdis of Sikhs for dangerous materials.
  2. Personal law and Shah Bano case I consider it vital to mention these two topics in greater detail in this article. The latter is important becoz of a clash of fundamental rights and religious rights, as well as an instance of parliament overturning an SC decision.
  3. Qualifications on government abrogation of rights can you provide more specific details, language and examples of when the constitution/SC allows the government to suspend certain rights? Its not acceptable to say that the government can abrogate the right in dangerous situations.

Rama's Arrow 04:22, 27 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Reply[edit]

No I'm afraid the bold points need to stay - the point is, every constitutionally defined right or duty must be in bold text to separate from the explanation. Also, the italics was not looking good or well-defined. Rama's Arrow 15:55, 27 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Serious questions[edit]

Hi Shreshthbhai - upon examining the article, I find many serious embedded errors and a basic problem that the prose, the writing is poor. In addition to this, I don't know if the topics covered are comprehensive enough. Please see user talk:Taxman#Fundamental Rights, Directive Principles and Fundamental Duties of India. I'm sorry about this but this article can't go to FAC just yet. Rama's Arrow 18:34, 27 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Inheritance trilogy[edit]

Regarding the Inheritance trilogy articles: I see that you've moved the character articles with (Inheritance trilogy) back to (Inheritance). But do you think that all Inheritance articles should be like that, or only the characters? Also, regarding the title, do you think it's more fit to have (Inheritance trilogy) or (Inheritance)? Personally, I don't really mind that much with either (though does Inheritance triogy give more detail regarding the topic instead of just Inheritance?), but it would be nice if all articles could be assimilated. Thanks. G.He 19:59, 27 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]
