Proposed deletion of Bemani Python 2[edit]

The article Bemani Python 2 has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

No references, no Google hits. Cannot verify.

While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{dated prod}} will stop the Proposed Deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. Hello. In case you didn't know, when you add content to talk pages and Wikipedia pages that have open discussion, you should sign your posts by typing four tildes ( ~~~~ ) at the end of your comment. DDR superNova 2 Harddrive[edit]

Hi SX9,

The SuperNOVA 2 Hard Disk image is 10.3GB compressed (dumped with dd and Gzipped). Unfortunately, it is strongly believed (although not yet tested and confirmed 100% by me) that it is also secured with Sony's MagicGate technology (as is the case for all official PS2 HDDs), and so would be unusable on any Playstation 2 aside from the one in my Python 2 I ripped it from. Therefore it would be of no use in resurrecting your dead hard disk (unless you have a means of bypassing the security).

Furthermore, Python 2 requires security dongles (SN2 needs a black dongle, other Python 2 games typically need both a black and a white one) to run.

Further to our conversation about the HDD, it's a RAW image file created with the Linux dd command - this also dumps all the sectors directly, and CHDMAN should be able to convert this to a .chd should you need it (though I would just boot a Linux livecd and use dd -if scph-20401 -of /dev/hdX bs=1024 (where X is the physical drive address, e.g. hda) to write it directly onto a drive). Now that I've given you the disclaimer that it probably won't work on your unit (:P), if you have some way that I can get a 10.3GB file to you, you are more than welcome to it (would probably take me a week to upload wherever though :P). The disk is already compressed using Gzip at maximum settings (it saved about 35MB). 10.3GB is too big to get on Megaupload etc (I don't have paid accounts), and public torrents will rape my low bandwidth and take you aaaages to download. A private torrent tracker or FTP server would be best, I think. Where in the World do you like, btw? Your spelling suggests UK or Australia, and if its the former there might be other mechanisms (I live in the UK).

Also, FYI DDR 3rdMIX-EXTREME (and also Solo 2000, Dancing Stage EuroMIX and EuroMIX 2) require System 573 Digital (with a 32MB Flash card for all except Solo 2000 and EuroMIX). DanceDanceRevolution (and all 2ndMIX versions) are System 573 Analogue (and aside from rare test location versions of the first mix, the 2ndMIX "CLUB" versions and the "Internet Ranking" version of Dancing Stage, all the songs from these are on other mixes). I don't know if you are collecting originals or just looking to play the games - if the latter, all you need for 3rdMIX-EXTREME is a single System 573 Digital and some special bootleg install CDs... the former is much more difficult, since game security cassettes for most of the mixes are not transferable between System 573 boards.

Next up, I just thought I'd warn you that unless you have an actual DDR cab, you won't get the original 573 mixes to run, only bootlegs (the actual cabinet have a Stage I/O PCB that controls the lights and inputs, and communicates with the Digital/Analogue I/O board - all DDR games check for them on boot, and halt with an error if they are missing). Unless you have an actual DDR cab you also have a snowball's chance in hell of getting SuperNOVA to work.

Oh, and finally I saw your recent thread on MAMEWorld (I don't usually go there, but searched your username) - Channelbeat and Coinopexpress sell bootlegs (and overpriced) - don't buy from them. Grab a System 573 Digital from eBay.
