Template:Infobox sailboat specifications[edit]

Hi there. Your edits to this template yesterday has somehow induced an extra line return in sailboat articles that use the template. The line return appears at the top of the article text, as you can see, for example in Dufour 24. Hi. Sorry for that, I corrected it. It was due to the line before noinclude. [see diff: https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Template:Infobox_sailboat_specifications&action=historysubmit&type=revision&diff=1012107493&oldid=1011879222&diffmode=source] Btw, I working on improving the wikidata associated to sailboats. Goal would be to have the infobox fed from wikidata. This requires the properties for sailboats to be set in wikidata, which is why I started to worked on TemplateData|. Interesting feedback on wikidata. I participated to this Met Museum / Wikipedia meetup https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Meetup/NYC/MetWHM (video replay here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MH1IOQPhmoU) and found interesting the use of wikidata for artworks. For instance this knowledge graph https://knowledgegrapher.toolforge.org/creator/Q241732. I'm under the impression that we can code the infobox in such a way that if there is data locally, this local data is displayed in priority; but if there is no data, then the data from wikidata is displayed. (see the telescophe infobox for instance https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Template:Infobox_telescope?action=edit). simon (talk) 17:33, 14 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, that "local data overrides Wikidata" seem to be the way we have been going. It isn't perfect, but it is better than relying on Wikidata alone. My main concern is having people replacing sourced specs with unsourced specs on Wikidata and then the original article editor not even realizing that the en.wikipedia article is now wrong. - Ahunt (talk) 17:39, 14 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

"Minor edit" has a very specific definition on Wikipedia – it refers only to superficial edits that could never be the subject of a dispute, such as typo corrections or reverting obvious vandalism. @Dl2000 I think this is ignorance rather than malice! The editor discussed this on my talk page at Talk:Macif (disambiguation) but has gone the wrong way about trying to resolve the issue. I am convinced by the French Wikipedia article and the company website that "Macif" is the appropriate title for the article about the company, and the trimaran needs a disambiguated title.
@Simon.letort Please never copy and paste content from one page to another: it loses the history of "who wrote what" which is a key part of Wikipedia. D12000 was correct to revert your attempt to move the page this way. There is a mess at the moment with the article on the company lost to sight: I will try to retrieve it now, but we might have to use the "Request Move" process which is not instant. OK, I have wound back the copy-and-paste moves and made the formal "Move Request" at Talk:Macif, and a bot will put a message on Talk:MACIF. We then need to wait to see if anyone objects. (For a single page move one can request a non-controversial technical move and it happens almost immediately, but for moving multiple pages there seems no such quick option - see it all in gory detail at Wikipedia:Requested moves). The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process.
