Cut-and-paste move[edit]

Information icon Hi, and thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. It appears that you tried to give Sinama language a different title by copying its content and pasting either the same content, or an edited version of it, into Sinama. This is known as a "cut-and-paste move", and it is undesirable because it splits the page history, which is legally required for attribution. Instead, the software used by Wikipedia has a feature that allows pages to be moved to a new title together with their edit history.

In most cases, once your account is four days old and has ten edits, you should be able to move an article yourself using the "Move" tab at the top of the page (the tab may be hidden in a dropdown menu for you). This both preserves the page history intact and automatically creates a redirect from the old title to the new. If you cannot perform a particular page move yourself this way (e.g. because a page already exists at the target title), please follow the instructions at requested moves to have it moved by someone else. Also, if there are any other pages that you moved by copying and pasting, even if it was a long time ago, please list them at Wikipedia:Cut-and-paste-move repair holding pen. Thank you. Naming conventions[edit]

FYI, we customarily use the same name for a people and their language, where possible. This is because the correspondences can become quite opaque when derivation is by prefix, infix, or circumfix. Thus Swahili language rather than Kiswahili, and similarly Sama language rather than Sinama. All the ethnic names are convoluted enough without having to double their number to cover the languages. There are few exceptions, usually having to do with disambiguation (e.g. there are several Bantu languages named Ngala, Lingala is almost universally known under the prefixed form, vs. e.g. Bangala, and the language is not particularly associated with the original people who spoke it anyway.) — kwami (talk) 21:32, 13 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Mateusz Malina moved to draftspace[edit]

An article you recently created, Mateusz Malina, is not suitable as written to remain published. It appears there is a WP:UPE or WP:COI conflict. Information that can't be referenced should be removed (verifiability is of central importance on Wikipedia). I've moved your draft to draftspace (with a prefix of "Draft:" before the article title) where you can incubate the article with minimal disruption. When you feel the article meets Wikipedia's general notability guideline and thus is ready for mainspace, and have addressed the UPE/COI issue, please click on the "Submit your draft for review!" button at the top of the page. As per WP policy, please do not move into mainspace yourself. Onel5969 TT me 11:00, 14 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]

I provided 9 references and cited them inline to demonstrate what was written on this page. I took the initiative for this article, because I was impressed at what he had done. I reached out to the freediver himself for the images which he donated, but I have no connection to the person at all. I have never met them. This shouldn't have been made a draft. There was no conflict of interest, just that I was interested in the feat that this athlete had achieved. Luke (talk) 15:29, 6 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
