Orphaned non-free media (Image:UAN Logo.jpg)[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:UAN Logo.jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BJBot (talk) 10:11, 2 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

UAN[edit]

Hello Sir Lobster. Thats for your comments, I'll be happy to help however I can. I'll sort out the logo for you. AM I correct in understanding that that white logo at Image:UAN Logo.jpg is the one for the international UAN? So I will put that one at the top of the article. The blue one represents the UAN USA? So I'll put that one in the USA section.

Regarding sources. We need third party sources to verify the facts we state about the UAN and Weber. There is no requirement that these have to be on the internet. Indeed, newspapers, books, government documents are all perfectly acceptable as reliable sources, depending on what is being claimed. What is important, though, is that it is independent, third party verification, and not just a member of the UAN making the claims.

We use a special code to cite sources (see Wikipedia:Citing sources) but here is the basics: After the sentence you wish to add a citation to, add the following code for a newspaper article:

<ref>Last name of author, First name of author. Title of article. Title of newspaper. Date.</ref>

Example:

Dogs and cats often fight. <ref>Smith, John. Dog fights cat and wins. ''The New York Times''. June 6, 1901.</ref>

If you then add a {{reflist}} template to the bottom of the article, the wiki-software converts to code to the following:

Dogs and cats often fight.[1]

References[edit]

  1. ^ Smith, John. Dog fights cat and wins. The New York Times. June 6, 1901.

I hope that helps. I'll keep and eye on the article and help you where I can. If you have any more specific questions, please feel free to ask. Rockpocket 17:06, 6 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Your User Name[edit]

What a wonderful story you left on User:Rockpocket's page about how you came by your name, Sir Lobster! I can just see you on the dance floor, doing your sideways salsa. Thanks for the smile. ៛ Bielle (talk) 22:23, 10 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Speedy deletion of Image:Logo uan.jpg[edit]

A tag has been placed on Image:Logo uan.jpg requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section I1 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the image is a redundant copy (all pixels the same or scaled down) of an image in the same file format, which is on Wikipedia (not on Commons), and all inward links have been updated.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on [[ Talk:Image:Logo uan.jpg|the talk page]] explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines.
