Warning[edit]

A tag has been placed on Stefan Bartlett, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a very short article providing no content to the reader. Please note that external links, "See also" section, book reference, category tag, template tag, interwiki link, rephrasing of the title, or an attempt to contact the subject of the article don't count as content. Please see Wikipedia:Stub for our minimum information standards for short articles. Also please note that articles must be on notable subjects and should provide references to reliable sources that verify their content.

Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself. If you plan to expand the article, you can request that administrators wait a while for you to add contextual material. To do this, affix the template {{hangon}} to the page and state your intention on the article's talk page. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. Are you a self hating Christian?[edit]

What is your motive behind removing Christian rock references from all those pages? All of them seem incorrect as the information you delete is backed by cited sources a lot of the time, and is reverted to the prior version. I was gonna report you on the three-revert rule, but I'm giving you a warning, stop this or you are well on your way to being blocked.Hoponpop69 00:23, 21 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, this is a message from an automated bot. A tag has been placed on Matt MacDonald, by another Wikipedia user, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. The tag claims that it should be speedily deleted because Matt MacDonald fits the criteria for speedy deletion for the following reason:

POV and most likely unneeded

To contest the tagging and request that administrators wait before possibly deleting Matt MacDonald, please affix the template {{hangon}} to the page, and put a note on its talk page. If the article has already been deleted, see the advice and instructions at WP:WMD. Please Stop[edit]

Please do not delete content from articles on Wikipedia, as you did to Anberlin. Your edits do not appear to be constructive and have been reverted. If you would like to experiment, please use Wikipedia:Sandbox for test edits. There is a mediation talk page for the genres here. Please Argue on this page before you change the genres again. Thank you.

again[edit]

I told you, there is a mediation here. Argue there before you change Anberlin's genres again. Feel free to put yourself in at any time. Pbroks13 19:04, 8 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

A Couple Things[edit]

First off, when you leave someone a comment, please use the talk page, not the user page. Secondly, it doesnt matter how long the mediation has been going; the point is you dont change it until the mediation is over. I'm sorry that you dont want them to be listed as Christian Rock, but until the mediation is over, please do not change the genres. I hope you understand. Pbroks13 15:33, 26 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Notability of The Goodnight Fight[edit]

Hello, this is a message from an automated bot. A tag has been placed on The Goodnight Fight, by Nuttah68 (talk · contribs), another Wikipedia user, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. The tag claims that it should be speedily deleted because The Goodnight Fight seems to be about a person, group of people, band, club, company, or web content, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is notable: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not assert the subject's importance or significance may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable.

To contest the tagging and request that administrators wait before possibly deleting The Goodnight Fight, please affix the template {{hangon}} to the page, and put a note on its talk page. Skateremorocker, please check Wikipedia:Requests for mediation/Anberlin and Wikipedia talk:Requests for mediation/Anberlin. This whole issue has been gone over recently, and the agreed-upon consensus is that "Christian rock" will be listed as one of Anberlin's genre's, along with a note linking down to the Christian rock section of the page. I'm not reverting because of a personal vendetta, but because Wikipedia has already decided on this issue, at least for the moment.

In addition, please do not accuse me of defying God by doing this. I'm not arguing against or reverting God; I'm reverting your edits to an article. I'm sorry, but I have no idea what point you're trying to make regarding God's opinion of the article. Are you saying that for some reason, God doesn't want this band to be labelled a Christian rock band? I strongly disagree with you. Anberlin is a band with Christian members, a Christian message to many of their songs, and primarily sells to the Christian market. They've said that they are not a Christian band because they don't want to limit themselves to the Christian market, and in addition they've stated that they don't care if they are labelled a Christian band. I'm not their biggest fan, but I've seen nothing indicating that the band members are dishonoring God in any way. Therefore, Anberlin is truly a "Christian rock band". As a fellow Christian, my actions are dedicated to honoring and reporting the truth -- the whole truth. The current Wikipedia entry does so, to the best of my knowledge. Your edits most definitely do not. Jpers36 18:29, 26 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Reply[edit]

So what if their Myspace states that genre? Perhaps they should read the screamo article, aswell. Myspace isn't a relevant source. The Used lists their genre on their myspace as Crunk and Ghettotech. Does that make them a Crunk or Ghettotech?

August 2007[edit]

Regarding Anberlin[edit]

It was decided by a collaboration of editors that Anberlin should be listed as Alternative Rock and Christian Rock. You can view the entire discussion by going to Wikipedia:Requests for mediation/Anberlin and Wikipedia talk:Requests for mediation/Anberlin. Please realize that I am not reverting your edits because of some personal vendetta that I have against you or certain musical genres, but because of a concensus that was reached among several Wikipedia editors.

Also, while I own you no explanation for my personal beliefs and decisions, I suppose I'll attempt to do so. First of all, don't judge me (I believe the bible has something to say about that... "If any one of you is without sin, let him be the first to throw a stone at her." John 8:7 NIV). I am well aware that many people and doctrines do not approve of or support homosexuality, which is part of the reason that I claim no denominational affiliation. Also, God does love everyone. What he doesn't love is sin. The bible says that homosexual prostitution, homosexual promiscuity, and homosexual rape are sins, and the same goes for heterosexuals doing the same thing. The bible does not say that simply finding someone of the same sex attractive justifies a one-way ticket to hell. It's no different than a heterosexual man looking at a woman and thinking that she's pretty. I am not living a promiscuous sex life, and at the moment I intend to remain celibate for the rest of my days. I'm not asking you to agree with me, but please do not badger and berate me. Wikipedia is not the place for this. —Mears man 13:44, 21 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

The Classic Crime[edit]

Please stop edit warring over such a pointless issue. The only genres that are acceptable are those that you can provide reliable sources for. For your information, this source [5] is not reliable. It is quite clear that the last sentence or two are added as an after thought, and I am inclined to believe it was added by you. It is poorly witten, and itself does not provide and references. You need the primary source (i.e. the original interview) in which the band stated they are not Christian rock. In any case, it doesn't matter what the band say they are, it only counts as to what the music is.Nouse4aname 16:26, 11 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Underoath[edit]

I have reverted your edit on Underoath because the category "Screamo musical groups" doesn't even exist on Wikipedia. Also note that edit-warring over what genre Underoath belongs in has been named one of the lamest edit wars ever. --Jaysweet 20:43, 15 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

October 2007[edit]

Before adding a category to an article, as you did to Underoath, please make sure that the subject of the article really belongs in the category that you specified. If it has not been already, it may be removed if the category has not been deemed correct for the subject matter. Thank you. I am not going to get involved in an argument over categories, but please link to a category that freaking exists, okay? Jaysweet 21:12, 15 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Would you consider the user adoption program?[edit]

Hey there Skateremorocker! I saw your edits at Underoath and noticed you were having a little bit of trouble... I think you are right that they are a Screamo group, but there isn't a "Screamo groups" category, so when you linked to that category it broke the page. Your intention was good, but I had to revert the edit because it wasn't done properly.

Since you seem to be serious about editing Wikipedia, I thought you might want to consider the user adoption program to help you learn how to get around these little technical hurdles and be a positive contributor. All you have to do is put {{subst:dated adoptme}} on your User page, and someone will come along and provide advice and mentoring for you.

If you are interested but aren't sure how, let me know and I can add the tag for you. Best of luck!! --Jaysweet 20:25, 29 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Notability of Since October[edit]

A tag has been placed on Since October requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done because the article appears to be about a real person, organization (band, club, company, etc.), or web content, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is notable: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not indicate the subject's importance or significance may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable. If this is the first page that you have created, then you should read the guide to writing your first article.

If you think that you can assert the notability of the subject, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the article (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the article's talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would confirm the subject's notability under Wikipedia guidelines.

For guidelines on specific types of articles, you may want to check out our criteria for biographies, for web sites, for bands, or for companies. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. Duffbeerforme (talk) 11:11, 3 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Proposed deletion of Since October[edit]

A proposed deletion template has been added to the article Since October, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but this article may not satisfy Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and the deletion notice should explain why (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised because even though removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, the article may still be deleted if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria or it can be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. Do you want to opt out of receiving this notice? Duffbeerforme (talk) 06:20, 9 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, I saw where you had been involved in the genre dispute on this article. A user is trying to add 'Christian rock' and citing it with unreliable sources that only say they are Christians. Please weigh in with your thoughts if you don't mind. I just told her that if she wants the genre in the infobox to find a reliable source that confirms it. Lost in The Sound of Seperation and Genres[edit]

Do you know what post hardcore is? It is a genre that "evolved" from hardcore, that is an "offshoot of the broader punk movement." The genre is typified by "a balance of dissonance and melody, in part channeling the loud and fast hardcore ethos into more measured, subtle forms of tension and release." Now, given Underoath's current sound (i.e. a balance of metalcore screaming, with Gillespsie's vocals, and Dudley's synthetic overlays), their past (punk and hardcore punk) influences, and the scene that they developed their music in (i.e. they arose in a predominantly punk, hardcore punk, and post-hardcore punk music scene), how exactly do you reason that Underoath and, more specifically, this album is not post-hardcore? ŁittleÄlien¹8² (talk\contribs) 04:00, 28 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

And please start discussing genre edits on the talk page of articles. They are highly debated topics and, as such, require the consensus of the editors of the article. Changing them without consensus and/or discussion is not productive and will lead to a reversion of your edit. Thank you for cooperating. ŁittleÄlien¹8² (talk\contribs) 04:02, 28 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

You are at it again. Please discuss edits made to the genre field. — ŁittleÄlien¹8² (talk\contribs) 01:05, 8 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Underoath[edit]

Why did you remove post hardcore from the lead paragraph of the Underoath article? It has been referenced and discussed, and is located in the infobox. Please discuss changes of this nature (i.e. adding or removing genres) on the article's talk page. Thanks. ŁittleÄlien¹8² (talk\contribs) 23:26, 9 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Speedy deletion of Lower Definition[edit]

A tag has been placed on Lower Definition, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article seems to be blatant advertising which only promotes a company, product, group, service or person and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become an encyclopedia article. Please read the guidelines on spam as well as Wikipedia:FAQ/Business for more information.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. April 2010[edit]

Welcome to Wikipedia. I have noticed that some of your recent genre changes, such as the one you made to The Classic Crime, have conflicted with our neutral point of view and verifiability policies. Do you just have nothing better to do? The only thing you seem to have done since September '09 is genre war for The Classic Crime and Switchfoot. Just because you don't think they're Christian doesn't make it true.

A tag has been placed on Sent By Ravens requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a band or musician, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag - if no such tag exists then the page is no longer a speedy delete candidate and adding a hangon tag is unnecessary), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hang on}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion, or "db", tag; if no such tag exists, then the page is no longer a speedy delete candidate and adding a hang-on tag is unnecessary), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, you can contact one of these administrators to request that the administrator userfy the page or email a copy to you. — RHaworth (talk · contribs) 15:07, 10 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page.
