This in reply to your comment on my talk page. Honestly, it's been over two decades, so my memory isn't terribly fresh, but in elementary school, I remember the original metal springs coming out and being called "slap wraps", I remember them being banned at our school and later receiving the plastic ones as prizes for the magazine drive. I do not remember any brand name details. I wish you luck in tracking all of this down, though. Sorry for my tardiness in replying.
