December 2008

Um I had a whole page up and going and now its back to what I started with whats with that!!! Can you put it back up so I can copy and paste it at leastCjschll (talk) 19:00, 23 December 2008 (UTC)

I'm sorry that your updates were removed! Unfortunately, your updates were removed by User:HexaChord because you removed the {{db-bio}} from the page. He/she was correct to do this, because it is considered inappropriate to remove the Candidate for Speedy Deletion text without discussion. (You can read more about this policy at Wikipedia:Criteria_for_speedy_deletion). If you dispute the CSD nomination, the correct process is to add the {{hangon}} tag directly below the {{db-bio}} and then put your reasons on the talk page. If I can help you with that or anything else, please let me know! I'm happy to be of assistance. --smurdah (talk) 19:13, 23 December 2008 (UTC)

Ya I didnt notice that until now I didnt mean to.. oops!!Cjschll (talk) 19:15, 23 December 2008 (UTC)

Not a problem. :) --smurdah (talk) 19:16, 23 December 2008 (UTC)

Im having issues with tryin to figure out how to add a reference. Can you help meCjschll (talk) 19:21, 23 December 2008 (UTC)

Wikipedia:Footnotes is a good reference. There's a shorter version at Help:Footnotes which explains it better than I could. Wikipedia:Help_desk is also a great place to ask any questions you have about Wikipedia in general. --smurdah (talk) 19:25, 23 December 2008 (UTC)

In my Craft or Sullen Art

Hi. Thanks for your message[1], you did the right thing in putting the speedy back notwithstanding that I then declined it. I am uncertain whether this is one of the great poems of Dylan Thomas (I've not heard of it but then I'm not a great Thomas fan). The lack of references in the article is not good but I'll have a look around before commenting on the deletion, I think. Kind regards. --Malcolmxl5 (talk) 22:53, 23 December 2008 (UTC)

Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Nana Upstairs & Nana Downstairs

Consider withdrawing Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Nana Upstairs & Nana Downstairs as the present article is a complete rewrite. Thanks for bringing the need for a rewrite to everyone's attention. davidwr/(talk)/(contribs)/(e-mail) 03:12, 24 December 2008 (UTC)

Withdrawn. Thanks for your hard work! --smurdah (talk) 03:16, 24 December 2008 (UTC)

Non-admin AFD closures

Non-admins can close AFDs as "keep" if they haven't participated if it qualifies under WP:SNOW. The nominator can close it as "keep/withdrawn" at any time. davidwr/(talk)/(contribs)/(e-mail) 03:36, 24 December 2008 (UTC)

Thanks! I'll make sure to do that next time. --smurdah (talk) 03:37, 24 December 2008 (UTC)

{{User:ClueBot III/ArchiveNow}} Thanks for your help with speedy deletion. For future reference please don't blank content of pages you tag for speedy deletion, as it means that when admins to check whether the page should be deleted, we have to go into the history rather than seeing the page right there. Stifle (talk) 19:29, 10 January 2009 (UTC)

I'll keep that in mind. I wasn't sure how to handle the visible vandalism. I'll follow your procedure in the future. -- smurdah[citation needed] 19:47, 10 January 2009 (UTC)

speedy

{{User:ClueBot III/ArchiveNow}} Do not waste time at RfD for something like "flow assurance". Simply tag it {{db-redirtypo}}. If you are feeling kind, you can check and fix any incoming links. Kinder still, you could notify the author of the article that has been moved from the title. — RHaworth (Talk | contribs) 19:34, 10 January 2009 (UTC)

Ok. Thanks for the heads up. -- smurdah[citation needed] 19:46, 10 January 2009 (UTC)

Flagged Revs

Hi,

I noticed you voted oppose in the flag revs straw pole and would like to ask if you would mind adding User:Promethean/No to your user or talk page to make your position clear to people who visit your page :) - Thanks to Neurolysis for the template   «l| Ψrometheăn ™|l»  (talk) 06:39, 8 January 2009 (UTC)

Hmm. My position's a bit too nuanced to take such a bold stand (and that template is quite bold). Thanks, though! :) -- smurdah[citation needed] 14:40, 8 January 2009 (UTC)

Hi

I'm Ricardocolombia. Please see the top of the page. That account is redirected to my account: #REDIRECT [[User:Ricardocolombia]]. I'm just deleting the page.

P.D. I can't sign in. I forgot my password. :(

Sockpuppetry case concerning Korlzor

You have been helping fight vandalism inflicted by various IP sockpuppets of the blocked User:Korlzor. You may be interested in a sockpuppetry case I have opened here. Best regards. Tennis expert (talk) 10:34, 14 January 2009 (UTC)

Karol Sikora

{{User:ClueBot III/ArchiveNow}} Hi Smurdah. I've removed the notability tag from Karol Sikora -- he's actually one of the best known clinical oncologists in the UK, frequently quoted as an expert in the media, and clearly meets more than one criterion of WP:PROF. I think the article, while in need of expansion, already makes his notability entirely clear. Regards, Espresso Addict (talk) 19:29, 16 January 2009 (UTC)

No problem. The article is looking good. -- smurdah[citation needed] 19:32, 16 January 2009 (UTC)

{{User:ClueBot III/ArchiveNow}} I'm leaving my reply to your question here as once an RfD discussion is closed, anythin posted afterwards are generally ignored and deleted. I posted my last comment in the hope that you take it to heart as a person who seems not too sure of the procedures of the RfD process. I accept your good faith - in fact, I believe that your premature reposting (while the first discussion was continuing) was an honest error, but someone who is not as familiar with the policies of RfD may misinterpret it as being done in bad faith. That's why I urged you to withdraw the second nomination. The first is now closed; now if you wish to overturn the retargeting (as mentioned by the closing admin) because there wasn't anything stating that you were withdrawing it from consideration for deletion, the move would be to first contact the closing admin and then go to WP:DRV; if you are now asserting that you did withdraw it from further discussion, not mentioning it in the second nomination could also be considered in bad faith (again, I am assuming good faith here as well), and that per precedent, this would be a bad faith renomination. A suggestion: please take a step back and ask yourself, "Is it possible for someone searching for the movie (or anything else with the "No Escape" title) to hit the question mark unintentionally before hitting the "Enter" key or the "Go" button? If the answer is "yes," then WP:RFD#KEEP applies and WP:RFD#DELETE does not. If that's the case, I'd strongly urge you to withdraw the second nomination. B.Wind (talk) 23:43, 17 January 2009 (UTC)
