Re: RSVP[edit]

No offense to the person was intended, which is what those two words were trying to convey. I like and respect Giano; while we haven't worked together often, we have helped each other out a few times, so I hope he feels the same about me. I know he's not evil, but I think he's asking for something unwarranted here.

Want to know what happened? I can tell you, and this is even though I was not part of any mailing list, and haven't edited in almost a week, so haven't even seen the oversighted evidence. She showed her evidence to some friends. They said "wow, cool detective work". Was it approval of her actions? Yes, to some extent, but I doubt they looked at all of it in detail. Did they actually do the block? No, and part of the reason why they didn't was specifically that they didn't look at all of it in detail. Giving their names would just be tarring them by association. Imagine publishing the names of everyone who was with a party with a drinking friend who then went off to do something rash.

Right now Durova is being thoroughly roasted for misuse of her admin tools. She gave them up. That's really all that can be asked for. She feels terrible. She is trying to put on the best face she can, but I can guarantee she is crying at least on the inside. The least we can do is not insist that she also betray her friends, who are at best guilty of careless informal approval of her actions. --AnonEMouse (squeak) 18:17, 28 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. I certainly appreciate your calm and rational response, and I really do mean that (there have been quite enough misunderstandings). I hope I can return the compliment.
Neither you nor I knows what happened, but here's where we disagree: anyone who even GLANCED at that "seminar" ("knows german") had to see how completely ridiculous it is. She has implicated a lot of people by alluding to the positive support she got from several of them, including 5 unidentified "sleuths", and possibly ArbCom itself. She emphasized this AFTER the case was known to have been bolloxed. So either it's true, and something is *very* wrong beyond just her judgement (speaking only to this case), or she misrepresented an important fact while claiming to take responsibility. I don't feel good that she feels bad, honestly. I've never interacted with her before this issue, though of course I can't prove it. But it seems to me that's still a very important question to resolve, and not something that can be put behind us to spare someone's feelings. If my drunk friend drove into a crowd of pedestrians and I had encouraged them to drive, I think my behaviour would be fair game for comment.
Thank you for responding to me, and with equanimity- indeed an unaccustomed pleasure. sNkrSnee | Â¿qué? 18:33, 28 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Despite her perhaps feeling miserable, she could have thought twice about blocking a contributor, since for an active contributor such a block without proper evidence presented is just the same kind of slap in the face. What goes around comes around I guess. I tend to think I have a better view of Wikipedia since I only make occassional edits and am not involved in any of the bureaucracy or in any of the critics. The way it started was just people trying to build an encyclopedia. By now there seems to be a small cabal, only confirmed by a mailing list for specific individuals, that is trying to put themselves in the spotlight and only try to build up a reputation without actually contributing much to the encyclopedia aside from powermongering. That might sound harsh, but the evidence is clearly there and this time it's crystalclear. Just to be absolutely clear, I do not know Durova, I have no positive or negative opinions of this person. But when you act in such a way as is clearly highlighted in this specific case you also need to expect to be called into question when your actions don't line up in a consistent and neutral way. --asmodai 09:23, 4 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

GMTA[edit]

haha funny dual post. Lsi john (talk) 00:39, 30 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

you mean duel post. Now I'm the sherriff. *tumbleweed* sNkrSnee | Â¿qué? 00:42, 30 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Please go and explain[edit]

Could you please go to proposed decsions [1] where Fred is frantically and desperatly digging up diffs to discredit me that this one directed at you was in fact not an insult but banter [2]. I just wonder what new depths they will plummit to. I cannoy remener why I chose that particular phrase but i'm sure it was relevant to something you had said earlier, can you remember? Giano 14:08, 30 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

It's with reference to the German song...Lech mein im arsch? Risker 14:26, 30 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Thamks, I knew it was something like that. My mind is blank at the moment. I'm just giving up here, there are so many lies and what ever being spread - it is just not true. I have never seen Wikipedia as vile as it is at the moment but I'm not stepping back whatever they say. Giano 15:52, 30 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I presume that this is another one of those, "I assume no one will click on the link, because 'everyone knows'" situations. Utgard Loki 15:59, 30 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I have now done so, and will see you in kangaroo court, you miserable, hopping, filthy troll. sNkrSnee | Â¿qué? 00:46, 1 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Ermmm...I hope you don't mean me. Giano, I can understand, but hopefully not me! Note to arbitrators: This is another pithy comment that has no bearing on the esteem in which I hold both Snickersnee and Giano. --Risker 01:26, 1 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]
It's all rock'n'roll to me! sNkrSnee | Â¿qué? 01:30, 1 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]
"one monkey short of Shakespeare" Is this your own coinage? I have never heard it before and am rather fond of it. 86.42.83.73 05:03, 1 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]
yes, I just made that up then, it seemed apt. Thanks for noticing! I imagine it's GFDL, so feel free to use it if you like. Link to rant here sNkrSnee | Â¿qué? 05:30, 1 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]
To be sure. I didn't get where I am today by not stealing other people's stuff, in any case. Nice poem too, btw, worthy of ... oh, shall we say, W. S. Gilbert, at the very least? 86.42.83.73 (talk) 11:21, 10 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]
well, we shan't say that because it's shameless flattery, and I thank you. OTOH, we share an appreciation of comic opera, and a good old-fashioned knife fight. But my obscurity preserves me, where fame would be my undoing. Still, nice to know you liked it. If there's one blessing Wikipedia enjoys, it's a surfeit of rich metaphor. sNkrSnee | Â¿qué? 09:11, 11 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Sufferage[edit]

That was a stand up thing you did pointing out that you didn't qualify to vote in the ArbCom elections. Well done. If it's any consolation, you might qualify to vote in the Steward elections, the requirements there are only time based, not mainspace contributions. Best. ++Lar: t/c 13:13, 3 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

heh, I was a little embarrassed, but just thankful I caught it myself. Thanks for the kind comment! sNkrSnee | Â¿qué? 14:26, 3 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Durova[edit]

Heya sNkrSnee. If you'd like to help, could you link the arbcom case and RfC's on the village pump, (in case people would like to find them all in one place?) --Kim Bruning (talk) 06:31, 6 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

lol, just when I thought AGF was as mythical as a unicorn, along comes you to prove me wrong. Yes, I will do so, thank you. As you can tell from this page, I'm not exactly uninvolved, but I still try to be fair. If you see anything I do that violates some rule or other, or is manifestly unjust, please let me know, and you have my advance permission to "refactor" in pursuit of less heat. Of course, I may still want to discuss it, but I promise to be nice! sNkrSnee | Â¿qué? 06:53, 6 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks, and let's let the Gestapo know that their days are numbered![edit]

I think that if there is enough momentum behind the resistance to secret censorship, secret lists, and secret ruling cliques that the offending parties will give up or find another place to try to lord over.

I would urge you to add a message about the unacceptable crap that some of the people around here perpetrate. They surely can't ban us all!

I stand for Liberty! Sukiari (talk) 06:55, 6 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hi! I agree with you about the secrecy and censorship, and I think it's important to stand up for principles. I think my page is already replete with my views on recent events, and I may refine it as events warrant.
But I think you're wrong, "they" can seemingly ban with near impugnity. I object, but there's no point deceiving oneself, and I'm certainly not intimidated by the possibility. Also, I don't think demonstrating Godwin's Law ever helped anyone understand anything better, so I encourage you to make your very valid points without those references. I've learned that even uttering the word "German" can be dicey. sNkrSnee | Â¿qué? 07:10, 6 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

You are right, of course. I do get a bit hotheaded sometimes, especially when it comes to our Wikipedia. I will try to be a bit cooler. Please help me with this if you can - I will take your advice to heart. I just get peeved when I see people treating this resource as a personal glory mine, at the expense of others. I am a bit irritable but honestly am really trying to improve our encyclopedia. Sukiari (talk) 11:16, 6 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

ok, let's watch each other's back! Thanks for having such a good perspective. sNkrSnee | Â¿qué? 14:04, 6 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Looks like Durova is back in power. This is disturbing. Sukiari (talk) 22:53, 13 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Stco23[edit]

I replied to that take page you replied to. Go to it. If you can help me about my problems, let me know. Thank You.--Stco23 (talk) 00:36, 9 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. I really don't think anything I've done has helped you very much, and I'm not very familiar with how WP operates. My only thought would be that, since you've said that you recognize you sometimes react emotionally and "lose it", perhaps you could ask another Wikipedian to be your "mentor"? That way, if you became upset about something or were unsure about a policy, you could ask that person first and take their advice. It would also demonstrate that you are sincere about wanting to become a better editor. Maybe that would help? Good luck. sNkrSnee | Â¿qué? 01:20, 9 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I understand what you are saying. You probley been a wikipedian for only 6 months or so, I don't know. If you need any help about wikipedia, go to help on the left site and click it. It will tell you about wikipedia. Thanks for your reply.--Stco23 (talk) 01:35, 9 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Sorry for that spelling mistake, I didn't know how to spell it.--Stco23 (talk) 01:37, 9 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I'm Sorry. I thought you were a user that only was a user for 6 months or so. I found out that you have been a user for two years, just like me, but I have been a user a little bit longer then you. Sorry about that.--Stco23 (talk) 01:48, 9 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Don't worry about it, no offense taken. sNkrSnee | Â¿qué? 02:50, 9 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Your joke[edit]

Your edit summary calls this a joke and I'm glad you enjoy the banter. Could you clarify that on the page for editors who don't speak German? I really couldn't tell whether you were serious or not, and didn't want to give offense. DurovaCharge! 23:26, 14 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Done! sNkrSnee | Â¿qué? 23:48, 14 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]
If I neglected to apologize when I struck through part of my evidence at arbitration, I'll do so now. Thirty-year-old television shows that aired in another continent are not necessarily references I'd catch. Out of context it looked ghastly, but I suppose that's true of a lot of John Cleese's work. Right! This calls for immediate discussion. DurovaCharge! 01:27, 15 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Well, I don't really think you "neglected" to apologize so much as declined outright, while suggesting I should apologize to you. And yes, in answer to your question elsewhere, I was genuinely offended at being labelled a bigot. That said, I do sincerely appreciate your apology, both on its own merits and because my talkpage protest has become desperately stale, and I'm grateful to archive it. I declare this parrot dead. sNkrSnee | Â¿qué? 22:53, 15 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

The Special Barnstar
Just when I think it's done there's another case of no fire, only drill... Thank you for volunteering to go out and get some meat, it's been hilarious! Kla’quot (talk | contribs) 09:04, 16 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Holy snickerdoodle I got a barnstar! You know, I've always despised them. But now I'm totally flipflopping, and I'm going to treasure this one forever! I didn't even know you were watching, glad you liked the show - I'll be here all week! Try the veal. sNkrSnee | Â¿qué? 06:39, 17 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

cat[edit]

Sorry I only just spotted your comment about Merlin on my talkpage- thank you. Do you have any pets? He was a little tearaway lol, always escaping. My mum was looking after him while I waited in for the gasman at my fiance's house, and as she opened the door to go in, he ran out and eventually into the road. But now my other two have become housecats and it's a lot of terrorism in a small flat lol, so I have my hands full! It's late here, but I'll put some more pics up tomorrow. What are you doing for the holiday season? I am cooking for 5, sis, uncle etc, doing turkey and so on for the first time- eek! But it's made me get into the spirit of it more than usual.:)Merkinsmum 03:24, 24 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

well, at least he stayed true to himself. I'm currently on a night bus to go visit family for a few days, which is the whole of my plan. I hate the bus, but I would hate to buy winter tires more. So this is my first ever edit from my mobile, I hope this fills you with extra Xmas joy. I don't have any pets right now, but have had, and they were all cats, except the one which was a fish. Merriest X, I'm sure you'll make a fine eating bird. sNkrSnee | ¿qué? 08:57, 24 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]
