Welcome![edit]

Hello, SocialScholar, and welcome to Wikipedia! I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Unfortunately, one or more of the pages you created, such as User:SocialScholar/sandbox, may not conform to some of Wikipedia's content policies and may not be retained. In short, the topic of an article must be notable and have already been the subject of publication by reliable and independent sources.

Please review Your first article for an overview of the article creation process. The Article Wizard is available to help you create an article, where it will be reviewed and considered for publication. For information on how to request a new article that can be created by someone else, see Requested articles. If you are stuck, come to the Teahouse, where experienced Wikipedians can help you through the processes.

New to Wikipedia? Please consider taking a look at our introductory tutorial or reviewing the contributing to Wikipedia page to learn the basics about editing. Below are a few other good pages about article creation.

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on User:SocialScholar/sandbox requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G12 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page appears to be an unambiguous copyright infringement. This page appears to be a direct copy from https://www.eyeonleicester.co.uk/post/george-sfougaras. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images taken from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. You may use external websites or other printed material as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. This part is crucial: say it in your own words. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.

If the external website or image belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use the text or image — which means allowing other people to use it for any reason — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. The same holds if you are not the owner but have their permission. If you are not the owner and do not have permission, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission for how you may obtain it. You might want to look at Wikipedia's copyright policy for more details, or ask a question here.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. — rsjaffe 🗣️ 20:40, 1 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Dear rsjaffe,
Thank you for the warm welcome to Wikipedia, and thanks for your review of my Wikipedia page. I am an inexperienced Wikipedia contributor and tried hard to follow the rules, but did not realise that quoting directly from a source was not allowed. From the information you have provided here, I fully understand that this was a breach of Wikipedia's copyright, and thank you for alerting me to that. I would like to request that you kindly undelete the page for me, and move it to draft status (obviously minus the quoted text just mentioned), as I was actually in the very early stages of drafting the article, and had created a table with information in every row that had independent sources, which I still intended to add - thus addressing issues of notability and reliability. I thought by placing the text in my sandbox, I could take a few days to complete it before it went for review, but from reading further in the Help section, I now understand that there is a separate process for creating drafts. Please be assured that I will not use any direct quotes in the revised text.
I look forward to hearing from you - SocialScholar. SocialScholar (talk) 18:59, 2 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Sorry we had to do that, but Wikipedia is very strict regarding copyright violations. I’m not an administrator, so don’t have access to the deleted article. You could post on the deleting admin’s talk page (User talk:Athaenara) and ask her if she could do that for you. One of the best resources I’ve seen for adapting sources without copying or close paraphrasing (which is also a copyright violation) is WP:FIXCLOSEPARA. It’s a quick read. — rsjaffe 🗣️ 19:13, 2 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Welcome![edit]

Hello, SocialScholar, and welcome to Wikipedia! Thank you for your contributions.

I noticed that one of the first articles you edited appears to be dealing with a topic with which you may have a conflict of interest. In other words, you may find it difficult to write about that topic in a neutral and objective way, because you are, work for, or represent, the subject of that article. Your recent contributions may have already been undone for this very reason.

To reduce the chances of your contributions being undone, you might like to draft your revised article before submission, and then ask me or another editor to proofread it. See our help page on userspace drafts for more details. If the page you created has already been deleted from Wikipedia, but you want to save the content from it to use for that draft, don't hesitate to ask anyone from this list and they will copy it to your user page.

One rule we do have in connection with conflicts of interest is that accounts used by more than one person will unfortunately be blocked from editing. Wikipedia generally does not allow editors to have usernames which imply that the account belongs to a company or corporation. If you have a username like this, you should request a change of username or create a new account. (A name that identifies the user as an individual within a given organization may be OK.)

In addition, if you receive, or expect to receive, compensation for any contribution you make, you must disclose your employer, client, and affiliation to comply with our terms of use and our policy on paid editing.

Hello Jimfbleak and thank you for the welcome! I appreciate the links you have shared and will certainly take you up on your offer of a proofread before I submit it - many thanks! SocialScholar (talk) 08:36, 5 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Hello again imfbleak. I am writing to ask if you are able to proofread my article - Draft:George Sfougaras - before I submit it. I have done my best to follow all the guidelines and have declared my conflict of interest on the Talk page. Please let me know if you don't have time and would prefer me to ask another editor. Many thanks for the support you provide to new contributors like myself, and for your role in helping to keep Wikipedia unbiased. I look forward to hearing from you. I've tidied a bit, added a couple of links, fixed the category and rephrased to clarify that what you claim isn't an objective fact. Also remove two links, the ukprinters one is both unreliable and dead, and YouTube isn't suitable, and amounts to self-promotion. You should probably submit and see what the reviewers say Jimfbleak - talk to me? 10:51, 29 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Many thanks Jimfbleak - that is greatly appreciated. I have submitted the draft article for review. SocialScholar (talk) 13:04, 29 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]
